There's nothing like seeing a favorite author has a new book on the way. You sit. You wait. You check daily to make sure you're remembering the release date correctly because the waiting and the sitting patience grows shorter by the day! Lucy Dawson is one of those authors! I literally one-click or beg Netgalley to pretty please with sugar on top to let me review it early, all the while humming the tune Ain't To Proud To Beg.....yes, that is how much I love Lucy Dawson's books! White Lies did not disappoint! I loved the angle of a female being the possible victim/predator. It is most typical to believe any person of a profession such as our female lead couldn't possibly stoop as low as to abuse her position of power. But then again isn't that why she could more than likely get away with it? And just how innocent is our supposed young male victim? These questions plus many, many more are exactly why I devour Lucy's books within a day or two and tend too feel a heavy book hangover for much longer than that! I'm already salivating for the ups and downs I'm sure her next book will throw at me, I don't even bother reading the blurbs anymore! Congrats on another banger of a read Lucy Dawson!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the Publisher, Bookouture for this review copy given in exchange for an honest review. Also thank you to Kim from Bookouture for organising the Blog Tour and finding me a space on it!!

Alexandra Inglis is a GP. She’s a mum, a wife and a good doctor who is trusted and liked by her patients. Jonathan is 17 years old and one of Alex’s patients. When Alex oversteps the mark with Jonathan she is completely unaware of how far he will go to make sure Alex’s world comes crashing down around her.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow (is that enough wows?!), what a book! I only started this last night when I went to bed and I had it finished by this afternoon!! As you can probably guess I didn’t sleep much! This is not my first book by this author, so I knew, if her other books are anything to go by, that this was going to be good! But…I didn’t think it would be this good!! This could honestly be made into a TV series to match other dramas such as Doctor Foster!

This is going to be a really hard book to review without giving away any major plot lines. Whilst I know the main plot occurs really early in the book, I wouldn’t want to spoil any of the build up to it as it really is an OMG moment. The book grabs you from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until the very last page. You go through a multitude of emotions, wondering what the hell is going on and who on earth do you believe. You have so many different theories on how this book is going to end, but believe me you won’t guess it!

It’s definitely one of those books where you can’t work out who is lying or who is telling the truth. Perhaps no-one is lying, or perhaps they all are. You just don’t know until the very end. There are more twists and turns than a rollercoaster and you certainly will need to hold on tight!! Moral of the story – every action has a reaction! An absolutely fabulous, nail-biting thriller!!

This book was incredible! It made me question what I thought I knew until the very last page! I absolutely love a thriller I can’t figure out. Dr. Alex slept with Jonathon but was it a one time thing or an ongoing affair!? There’s so much to the book White Lies and just when you think you know, everything changes. Honestly I still have questions. This was a fantastic and brilliantly written thriller that you won’t want to put down.

"He had fucked my wife and now he was fucking her over." Boom! Yes my friends, that one quote sums up this electrifying read!

Dr. Alex Inglis goes on a much needed girl trip, much needed you are questioning - why was it much needed you are most likely asking? Well, prior to her trip, Alex's husband, Rob, dropped a bomb on her - he cheated with a much younger than she girl named Hannah and now Alex is going to get even. On her girls only trip, she shags up with a dirty, hot, modelesque looking beefcake she meets at the club. Alex thought this was a one night deal - a way of paying the pain forward to her husband. However, little did she know, that this was not just a one time deal (or perhaps she did know?? - hmmm)

Everyone knows, every decision made has an outcome or you could say - a consequence. has consequences. If only Alex knew that this one decision would cost her more than she could image!

The ending of, White Lies, leaves you blown away! I literally uttered to myself, "well shit I didn't see that one." White Lies is a sultry, tantalizing tale that keeps you reading and questioning who is telling the truth up until the very end! 5 stars. ❤️

Oh my giddy aunt!
This is a book that will keep you up all night. I'm being serious, once you break this book in, you will not, I repeat not be able to rest until you read right to the vital end.

Its a she said, but did she.
Its a he said, but did he.

Its a maybe.....
its someone else.

Alexandra Inglis is a respected doctor within her practice and for all that know her.
There are ethic and boundaries that have to be in place and each doctor to abide by.

But then there is Johnathan and 18 year old diabetic lad.

I was astounded at this story, not for its content so much as for the great style it was written that kept me on my toes spinning around and around and not knowing just where I was to focus, the author sure had me dizzy.

I could write a heap of things and I want to give it all away......
but I won't, I need you to read this, its truly a great read, a breathless read.

I was pushed, I was prodded I was sure it was........
I think I suspected everyone who was ever mentioned in this book.

By the time I got to the end I had narrowed it down. Was I right? Hmm not 100%

My thanks to Bookoutour for my copy

Not once, twice but three times WOW! I started it yesterday and read up to 60% and I still did not want to stop, but then sleep interfered. How I wish I could drink some kind of healthy potion to keep me going and save me from those lost hours in which we have to sleep.
If you are looking for an author who knows how to write a book that messes with your head, don't look any further. You feel for Alexandra, but suddenly you hear a different story and it seems like she is the bad 'guy'. Your feel like a ball in a tennis game, because your mind keeps changing direction and you don't know who is right or wrong anymore, who you should feel sorry for, who you should hate. And then everything is revealed ...
A big thank you to Lucy Dawson for dragging me into your story and keeping me there until the end and to Netgallye and Bookouture as well of course.

Wowsers! This is the first book i have read by Lucy Dawson and it most cetainly wont be my last. From the first chapter i was absolutely hooked. So much so i couldn't sleep until i had finished it. I thought i had this book sussed.... reading Ali's account i felt so sorry for her. Then Johnathon's account had me questioning what i thought ... in fact i didn't know who to believe... then the twist at the end! It was gone 2am when i finished... i really enjoyed the story and Lucy's writing and would highly recommend this book. Thank you to the author Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read.

2.5 stars. Initially, I liked this book. I liked the chapters from Alex's perspective and then I really liked the chapters from Jonathan's perspective because these two were telling way different stories. I couldn't wait to find out who was telling the truth. Sadly, I still don't know! I was so disappointed in the ending of this book. It made the whole thing a waste of time. I still don't know who was lying and what their motivation to lie was. Did I miss something? Was she just nuts? Was he just lying for the hell of it? What was the point of all of it? I gave it a 2.5-3 because it was well written and held my interest all the way until the disappointing ending. With a complete ending, it would have been a 4.5 star. I am actually angry with how incomplete this ending was.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book was really well-written language-wise, however seriously lagging behind in terms of its plot. So a well-known neighborhood doc in England "accidentally" meets her own patient in Ibiza...the same night, the same club...while somehow not remembering him while he remembers her well??? Really? If that's EVER happened then this book didn't do an event like that justice by describing it just as something almost "random."

I must say I couldn't believe much anything after that fact. I felt the entire time like maybe there were mines planted in the story to come. Which was uncharacteristic for a novel that's so well written.

I also found the main characters poorly developed. So many people randomly using a term "paper trail" for a simple Google search...that sounds like you're inside one person's head, NOT several.

Overall, I guess I was glad to have discovered this writer, just not this book.

Hey and WOW....I love Lucy Dawson’s previous books and in fact her books put me back with my love of reading and so I knew I would enjoy this book......but just not as much as I did
I have had much thought on how to review this book.....as to tell you anything about the story would take away the wonderful suspense and clever, very clever way this book is written and evolves...so....
This book revolves around 2 main characters, a female Dr and a much younger male patient, a drunken mistake and the horrific consequences, ‘oh, ok’ you are thinking ‘seen that, been there’.....let me tell you...you haven’t!!!!
Each chapter is written by one of the main characters on what happened, what led up to it and what is happening now ( with chapters from husbands, girlfriends, colleauges to boot) BUT at the end of each chapter or each group of chapters you will be CONVINCED who is guilty and who is innocent.....until you read the next chapters and you will completely change your mind again!!!!!!
The authors brilliant way of telling the story from each perspective is just too good to try and explain except to say throughout the book I experienced anger, sadness, fear for each character and real real outrage, this swopped and changed with each chapter
I really had NO idea who was telling the truth right up until the final few shocking and OHHHHHHH NOOOOOOO chapters!! And then the actual truth was a real shock, I often say a book has twists and turns but this book is like the country lane of them
A hard hitting, in your face, superbness of a book that will chill and yep thrill you and make you think, re think and then realise you have thought wrong
I LOVED IT, best book this year, if you read one book this decade read this!!
10/10 and 5 stars, no surprises there

I loved loved loved this book. Ten stars, in my opinion. I just had to finish it in one sitting as I literally couldn't put it down. The writing style, the plot, the characters--a stupendous read!

I found this quite gripping from the beginning as you were never quite sure who was telling the truth and who was lying! But even then the ending was quite unexpected

I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘White Lies’ written by Lucy Dawson in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Respected GP Dr Alexandra Inglis is on a girls’ weekend away in Ibiza. She’s in a nightclub when she sees a handsome young man, they start kissing and she takes him to her room where they have sex. It isn’t until she returns home that she’s shocked to discover the young man, Jonathan Day, is the son of a patient who she’s personally treated..
When Jonathan’s attempts to blackmail Alex backfire he makes a complaint to her boss, Dr David Harper, and the story commences with the General Medical Council gathering state-ments. I thought it was clever how the chapters were in the words of the different characters giving their statements so that the story came from different angles.
‘White Lies’ is an absolutely brilliant book that I loved and was unable to put down. It’s been exceptionally well written with a gripping plot and a very surprising twist at the end that I would never have guessed. I was completely hooked from the start and unable to put the book down until I’d finished it twenty-four hours later. I’d give this novel six stars if it was possible and would love to see it made into a film.

This is the first book I’ve read by Lucy Dawson...I really enjoyed it!
There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming at all.....just when you thought you had it figured out....you didn’t!!
I can’t wait to get ahold of her other books, and would absolutely recommend Lucy Dawson’s books to my friends!

Alex Inglis wakes up in her hotel room while on holiday with her girlfriends, with a young man (who she does not know) beside her. Married with two children, she is mortified and beside herself at what she has done, even more so when her friend finds out exactly what she has done. She goes home, confesses to her husband (who has done something similar) and they assume that they need to start afresh, when things start moving into a completely different direction.

An absolute page turner. I couldn't stop reading. Related by multiple characters, each giving their own perspective, it soon gets compelling. Who is speaking the truth, who is lying? Clearly someone is, but who?

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller. I would highly recommend if you like this genre of books.

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the review copy of this book.

I loved this author’s last book The Daughter so I was really excited when I saw that her latest release, White Lies was out and I could not wait to get my hands on a copy!

The book jumps straight in to the plot line and I was hooked right from the start – I do love a good psychological thriller and this was definitely one of those!

I found the book to be a really addictive read, I didn’t want to put it down and read it in a few hours as I needed to know what happened. I was completely gripped by the plot as soon as I started reading and it just goes to show the impact that a few little white lies can really have – I loved the story and the characters were great. Everything was planned out well and it all worked together brilliantly.

Definitely five stars from me – another excellent book from Lucy Dawson and one I highly recommend!

I read this in one day while being laid up with a bad book. I like the way the author varied each chapter to come from a different character's point of view, including Alex the Dr., Rob her spouse, and Johnny the young patient.
After Rob has an affair Alex goes for a long weekend trip with her girlfriends. Becoming very drunk to forget her pain of the affair she sleeps with a young man. On returning home her guilt has her telling Rob right away about the night but the couple decide to move on and work on their marriage. A few days later she is asked to do a home visit for a woman who has severe stomach flu. When she arrives the woman tells her she was not really sick but wanted to interview her for a job at their new spa. Suddenly she sees the young man she slept with coming down the stairs in their house wearing a school uniform. How old is he? Alex worriedly returns the next day to work. Things become stranger and stranger as the young boy Johnny begins stalking Alex and confronting her at work begging her to sleep with him again. After her boss David sees Johnny grabbing Alex and kissing her in the parking lot things go from bad to worse. Soon after Johnny and his parents come to the medical clinic screaming that Alex has sexually abused their son.
It was interesting and difficult to try and figure out who was telling the truth? Is it true that Alex didn't know Johnny or how old he was when she slept with him or is Johnny telling the truth that Alex treated him once and then proceeded to push herself upon Johnny and start a long term affair. As Alex and Johnny's life both spin out of control everything leads up to a surprising and shocking conclusion!
