This book is important! What is crazy about ministry is how quickly pride can sneak in and ruin your purpose of why you serve Jesus in the first place. I went through a season of this about two years ago where I believe the Lord had to take me on a journey to expose me to my own pride. It was painful and very ugly to look at my own pride. I am very thankful for the season because I have tasted humility and it is sweet even though pride keeps coming back time and time again, thus, if you need a resource how to help you navigate thru these rough waters, this is your book. I feel like J. Lanier Burns speaks directly from the heart of his own experience and the pain that pride brings to the table. I knew I had pride, but didn't realize how far down my pride went until I walked through that season. Thankfully, just like the author, I found a story in the Scriptures that brought to my mind about pride vs. humility and it was so good for me to sit in that story and get a taste of both parties. You will see the wisdom of humility and the pain of pride as you sit with this book on your lap. Grab a pen and some paper and take some good notes from an author who knows what he is talking about.

This is a great biblical theological study of pride and humility throughout the Scriptures! The author begins in the garden and continues until the writings of Paul. It becomes a rich biblical theology of pride and the gospel reversal of humility. Anyone wanting to know what the whole Bible says about the curse of pride and the blessing of humility would do well to read this book! I highly recommend this book!
