Every now and again, I like to push myself out of my comfort zones and do something that I haven't done before or don't like to do.
So...
I picked up a copy of a book that's part of series when I haven't read the other books in the series.
To be perfectly honest, I'm kinda surprised that I didn't have a heart attack.
I hate reading books out of order or picking up a book midseries.
But, you know what?
My head didn't explode, I didn't drop dead from shock.
Instead I sat down and quite enjoyed the read.
Fast Fury brings together Fast Bravo member Kai Maka and his former neighbour from across the hall, Abby McKinley.
This book is action packed, adventurous, sexy and suspenseful.
A book that can easily be read on it's own.
Recommended.

Kai and Abby's story of friends to lovers is more than just a romance story. There is so much suspense and action in book 5 of the DEA Fast series, it kept me turning pages to see what happens next. My first read of the series, "Fast Fury" doesn't let up until the last page is turned. Not sure how I missed DEA Fast, as romantic suspense if my favorite genre, but I plan on reading the rest of the series. Standalone read, I was gifted a copy from NetGalley. My review is freely given. 4.5 Stars!

I finally got to read this story and enjoyed it so much!!!
This is Abby and Kai's story. I love me some Kai. Abby and Kai are friends and Kai wants to be more than friends. Kai plans on showing her his island when, Abby has to go to Maui, but things start to go badly. Filled with action, suspense, great sex scenes and our past and future secondary characters, make for a fantastic read. 4 solid stars****

Fast Fury is a friends to lovers story set in Hawaii! What a gorgeous setting! Kai works for the DEA and Abby is a pharmaceutical sales rep. Abby has a work trip to Maui and Kai plans to show her his island (pun intended!). Kai realizes he wants Abby to be more than his friend and is determined to convince her they would be great together.

However, Kai's cousin is a drug dealer. There is a bounty on Kai's head. Abby ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time and finds herself the target of a crazed woman out for revenge. All this while Kai and Abby are trying to see if their relationship is meant for more. Cross really knows how to write great romantic suspense. The plots are always detailed and in depth, the characters, even secondary and tertiary, are robust.

Fast Fury gives you all the steamy romance you want with the action to keep the book's plot plowing forward! Cross's books always leave me satisfied and I love that consistency!

Abby McKinley was living next door to DEA agent Kia Maka. He moved when his ex-became too much. Though she misses him she also has a feeling of someone following her. Calling him they decided to meet and after their talk they realize they may be in Maui at the same time and should try to meet. Once in Maui Kai does not realize that his cousin how he grew up with is the local supplier on the island for the scorpion drug cartel. They have put a hit out on him and want his cousin to do it. You also have a mother you lost her daughter to an overdose and has decided to take matters in her own hands by going after the executives of drug companies like the one Abby works for, and anyone she sees around Kia’s cousin. Being able to move freely she is causing her havoc and between her and the drug cartel you have a very good book. This book is full of action and is nonstop from the first page to the last. A very good book.

I really like the style that Kaylea Cross writes. Romance with danger and a lot of chemistry. This was a fun read with a fast-paced and twist and turns till the end. If you like her this does not disappoint.

I just want to say upfront, I love Kai. Big, strong, hot and always picking the wrong women, until now. I love how the hot, steamy relationship of Kai and Abby grew out of a real friendship. The characters are fully developed and you understand exactly why they do what they do. The suspense element is great and the book, as a whole, is just wonderful, the best in the series, so far. This is the perfect beach read, especially if the beach is in Hawaii!

Kai and Abby have been neighbors for 2 years until a leak of the FAST Bravo Team's personal information forces him to move in order to keep the Venero Cartel from finding him where he lives. Just before he moved Kai broke up with his low self-esteem girlfriend, the latest in a series of bad choses, he took a real good look at Abby and really liked what had been right in his face for two years. Abby has always had a crush on Kai, but with his being attached, it never went any farther than her being the neighbor who fed him, took care of his fish and collected his mail while he was off on an op or training. Abby also had a prior bad relationship and doesn't want a repeat of that. Now, things are about to change.

Kai was raised on Maui by his tutu (grandmother) along with his cousin, Hani who took a different path in life. Kai is currently on a training mission on Oahu. Abby is at a conference on Maui and they plan to meet up so Kai can show Abby around and see where things go. Kai has plans for much more and showing Abby the island is just the beginning. While there things go from platonic to tectonic, but Kai has brought more to Abby than some seriously hot sex - he has also brought danger. With a bounty on his from the Venero Cartel, when Kai is spotted with his cousin Hani the order is issued for his termination. But the Venero Cartel is not the only threat and Kai and Abby are not the only targets.

Fast Fury was my first time reading a Kaylea Cross book and it was good. I liked her writing style and the flow of the book. Abby was very likable. She was smart, sweet, and brave. Kai was very sexy and protective. The smexy time in this book was smokin' hot. Lots of great action. I just wanted it to be longer. I needed more of a build up to Abby and Kai's relationship. Other than that it was a great read.

Kai and Abby are former neighbours. Abby got caught up in the drama between Kai and his previous girlfriend and a separate incident involving his job. kai enjoyed having a friend and neighbour he could trust. But he wants to keep Abby safe from the Cartel hunting him so moves out.

Pity the Cartel are not going to end matters there. They set their sights on Abby as a soft target to pump for information on Kai. But Abby is no damsel in distress. She may be small and not trained but she will go down fighting!

Abby would love to be in Kai's life but she has no intention of being #reboundgirl!

Hawaii is just as much a character in the book as Kai and Abby. Loved the setting and the plot revolving around a mothers revenge was intense!

Another super read from Kaylea this is the fifth book in the series but can easily be read on its own. Kai and Abby have been neighbours for years but have never crossed but since he was forced to move Kai has missed her and realized he wanted more from her he convinces her to visit him and they are hot together but it is not long before she is in danger will he be able to rescue her and stay alive.I really liked this book but I do think that they lacked a little bit of chemistry but that could be because they were friends first

I love this authors writing. I wish that I read the first books in the series before I reviewed this book; however, I have read other series by this author and knew that I would love what she wrote. I do recommend reading the first books in the series to get a background on other characters who have their own story arc in later books.

I love Kaylea Cross's books and have ready nearly every one of her books in every series, and although this isn't one of my favorites, it's still a good read. I guess I found the hero a little juvenile to be a grown-up DEA agent. His silly antics just didn't resonate with me. I also found the bad-guys not very intimidating--which took a little away from the suspense. Overall this was a good read, just not great as are the norm for this author. .

Kaylea Cross never fails to delight with her romantic suspense books. Fast Fury caught me at the start and didn't let me go until the end. A solid plot which kept me hooked.

Y’all know I have some issues with romantic suspense. But Kaylea Cross is one of those rare romantic suspense authors who always gets it right, in my opinion. The balance between sexy times and real mortal danger in her books is always perfect, the plots are twisty enough to be interesting but not SO twisty that I’m confused, and the heroes are alpha without being alphaholes. There’s a reason why this author shows up so many times on our Friday “best of” lists, and her winning streak is more than upheld in Fast Fury. Here are the highlights:

First of all, Fast Fury stands alone nicely. So, if you haven’t read the rest of the books in the series, you can dive right into this one and not feel like you’re missing any key details. (Although I don’t know why you wouldn’t read the rest of the books. They’re delightful.)

Second of all, the hero’s Hawaiian heritage had me picturing Jason Momoa in my head while reading, and that’s never a bad thing.

The heroine, Abby, was also very engaging. She wasn’t a perfect Barbie doll, and had insecurities, just like every other woman on the planet, but she didn’t let those insecurities hold her back or endanger her HEA. Abby went after what she wanted, and didn’t let anything get in her way. I totally admire that kind of chutzpah in romance heroines. AND, when push came to shove (literally) towards the end of the book, she wasn’t a typical damsel in distress. She kicked ass! (Again, literally) #GirlPower #GirlsRule

Long-story-short, this is yet another fun, sexy, action-packed romantic suspense read in a long line of fun, sexy, action-packed romantic suspense reads from an author I’ve come to trust implicitly. Get to 1-clicking, folks. You won’t regret it.

Another amazing DEA FAST book! Best friends Kai and Abby have been missing each other since he was forced to move. Kai has also been away with work. When he finally catches up with Abby, he realizes something is wrong. He also realizes he wants more than just friendship with Abby. Their story has lots of tangled webs and takes you all the way to Hawaii and back. It moves fast and has plenty of action and a big tattooed alpha guy no one could (or would want to) resist. I enjoy friends turned lovers stories, and this was a great one.

Fast Justice reminded me of another book in the series, but with enough differences that I stayed engaged. Kai has been one of my favorites since the first book in this series, so I am glad to see him get his own story!

The pain of losing a loved one to drugs is written in a moving manner. I liked that our hero didn't just "shrug it off" and remain stoic. As the reader, we felt that sorrow and knew that Kai was emotionally devastated by the choices his cousin made.

I'd like to see a happy ending on the war against drugs, but I guess that wouldn't reflect reality. Fortunately, we get a happy ending between Abby and Kai.

I haven't read any other books in this series, but this is officially my favorite book in the series! I loved Abby and Kai's friends to lovers story. They had great chemistry but also a strong friendship. I really enjoyed the suspense and the romance, and the story kept me glued to the end.

Fast Fury (DEA FAST Series) by Kaylea Cross

WOW! A story line with everything a reader could desire. With intrigue, romance and charm, this novel is completely captivating. I fell in love with the characters, their emotional voyage compelling me to want to follow their stories beyond the end of the book.

I’m not going to discuss what happens in the book, believing the blurb to be enough to catch attention. However, I will warn readers that they may become completely lost in another world that leaves you wanting to read more of Ms Cross’ works in the future.

Well written and fast paced this is a definite keeper.

I loved Fast Fury. There was suspense, romance, and very likeable characters. I could not put it down. I will definitely be reading more by Kaylea Cross!
