Thank you Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is the continuation of A Chosen Life. This book was a little better than the first book. The book was more fast paced and happened to keep my attention better this time. I had no problem finishing the book and really enjoyed reading it

The Chosen Life and Shadow Prison is a beautifully written book. It was the kind of book that nourishes your soul, yet gives you things to ponder on.

Overall, the two books are pretty good. The words of the author were somehow very engaging, and she got her own way with words.

The characters of the book, well– Macy, for me, was like a judgemental brat kid who seems to be a know it all. Tolen, on the other hand, was an innocent, with teach-me-everything attitude. Bastian was my favorite character in the series. I’m actually rooting for him to be the chosen one(well, in the earlier chapter, I’m hoping it was him.)

As for the plot, honestly, there were few parts of the book that was very slow pacing, boring– I think, in my opinion, they can cut it. I mean, I survived the and understand both books even if I skip the said parts.

And if there is something I really, really liked with this book, it’s how the author builds the relationships between characters and the readers– especially Basti–I’m not sure, but I have grown so attached to him that at the end of the first book. Well, I’m devastated.

I also would like to inform everyone that I put the said review in the same post because, for both books, the only thing I can criticize is the slow-pacing chapters.

DISCLAIMER: I requested for an ARC of this book in NetGalley and I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. The description and the cover of the book had caught my attention.

Continuing from the last one Tolen is training to be the ninth and Macy is sulking over Bastian’s death. The beginning was slightly annoying with their fall out but got better. The story was fast faced and a fun ride, if not a little obvious. I liked the badger. There are a few surprises in store and plenty of fighting and magic.

I never finished the first book, but thought I would give this one a try. It was definitely more entertaining than the first. The story line was ok. I did finish this one.
