I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down, I was so excited for Jonah and Madeline to find Madame Smith’s granddaughter! The characters were wonderful! I loved the flirty banter between Jonah and Madeline. Then there is Madame, she was my favorite, she is always one step a head! The story has several mysteries to be solved and many surprises. You will not want to put this book down! Kathleen YBarbo does not disappoint!

Interesting story of Galveston Island and Jean Lafitte. I was drawn to it because of a very close friend who lives there. He was as to send me photos of the historical sites mentioned.

Pinkerton agent Jonah Cahill and reporter Madeline LaTour were engaged until she betrayed his confidence and nearly got him fired. Now they’re back in each other’s company, hired by an eccentric widow to find her granddaughter.
Madeline didn’t appeal to me at first. She’s a nosy reporter intent on a story and doesn’t seem to consider the consequences or who she may hurt. She only wants to prove the pirate Jean LaFitte survived long after he was thought dead, and the widow may have been his wife.
Jonah and Madeline start to find their lost love amid comical escapades. And it is easy to rout for them as an assortment of odd characters get in their way. It got a bit confusing, keeping everything straight, but arrives at a satisfying ending.

MY HEART BELONGS IN GALVESTON TEXAS by KATHLEEN Y'BARBO is a mystery historical romance novel which takes place in 1880. There are all the ingredients for mystery - a pirate, a lost treasure, a missing girl, a couple of Pinkerton agents, a priest, members of the press, and an elderly lady of means, Mrs Smith, who is employing Pinkerton detective Jonah Cahill and his former fiancée, Madeline Latour, to ascertain the whereabouts of her granddaughter, Tresor, who has been missing since her birth in 1855.
We are kept guessing until the end, when the truth is finally brought to light.
I was given a copy of the book by Barbour Publishers Inc from NetGalley. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

This historical tale was just interesting enough to keep me reading. Except for that, I did not really like this book.

Jonah can't stand Madeline. Not after what she did that nearly cost him his job and breaking their engagement. But when the two of them are pushed together to uncover Madame's lost granddaughter, Jonah and Madeline must put aside their differences....and maybe find love again.

This book is appropriate for all readers.

This is Christian romance and mystery set in 1880, mainly in Texas. Mrs. Smith hires a Pinkerton detective to find her missing granddaughter and insists that he work with her assistant, who happens to be an investigative reporter that he once nearly married. They have to forgive old hurts as they spend time together while investigating.

The answer to the mystery came as no surprise as I suspected that ending from the very start. However, it was interesting to watch the characters piece the story together. The main characters were interesting and likable, though Jonah did have a tendency to accuse first and think through the facts later. The historical and setting details created a backdrop to the story.

The main characters were Christians and this guided how they interacted with people--mainly, being willing to forgive and ask forgiveness. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this fun story.

This is a wonderful story about a grandmother trying to find her granddaughter that was lost as a baby. It is full of mystery, suspense and a little romance. Once you start reading it you don't want to put it down. This was the first book I have read by this author, but it won't be the last. Thank you #NETGALLEY and #BARBOUR PUBLISHING for an ARC copy of this great book.

This new series is a really good one for fans of clean historical fiction. It is inspirational, but the religion isn't overbearing or really even noticeable...it's more about the morality and guidance of the characters themselves. The mystery is a good one! It took about 2/3 of the book before I had solved it, even though the answer isn't revealed until the very end. There's some great history tucked into the story, and I thoroughly enjoyed the wit and banter of the main characters.
