Linda Mueller is an Amish girl with very idealistic views on what marriage and the future ought to look like for her.
She likes to quilt and works in a fabric shop, then her world starts to change as she decides to find out about her paternal grandmother who was also gifted artistically but was told that it was a sinful thing to give into her creative urges. She meets Isaac, a painter and they begin to bond over arts and crafts.
Isaac begins to help Linda in her quest to find out all there is about her grandmother and in the process of this the two being to draw closer as many secrets begin to slowly unfold.
I have loved this story and learnt so much about the Amish' way of living, found it very interesting.
The book also deals with mental health in a way I have not seen an Amish story do so before which was quite masterful.
Highly recommend this reading!

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest opinion of it. I enjoyed this book but it was really a typical Amish good feel story but it did have a few twists to it.

A wonderful addition to this series, familiar faces and a new tale! The vivid writing by the authors makes you feel like you are looking at the quilts, and the paintings, in person. I love how the books semi connect if you have read others in the series.

An enjoyable read about two talented artists and their journey to find someone to love. Linda is a quilter and has never been interested in a relationship until she meets Isaac, a talented painter. They bond over their trade and soon discover that Linda's grandmother was a painter. While trying to research more about Linda's grandmother, Linda also finds out about Isaac's past, which causes Linda to worry about building a relationship with him. Will Linda be able to look beyond Isaac's past?

This book was difficult to put down. I look forward to reading more books by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Harvest House and NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Amish Quilter by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould is the fifth novel in The Women of Lancaster County series. Linda Mueller works at Arts & Crafts House as well as making quilts to sell in the shop. The quilts she makes for the shop are more artistic than those she makes for use at home. Linda started quilting when she was eight with her mother and is known as a perfectionist. Isaac Mast has moved to town to start house painting business and is living with his grandmother, Ruth Mast. In his spare time, Isaac does artistic paintings that he sells online. When Linda sees his work in progress of Robert’s barn, it gives her inspiration for a quilt. Linda learns that her artistic abilities come from her Mammi Nettie. One day she discovers a book along with a painting that belonged to Mammi. They lead her on a journey into the past, and she uncovers an astonishing secret. As Isaac and Linda spend time together, they get to know each other. But something from Isaac’s past could derail their romance. Will Linda let her idealism stand in the way? Find out what happens in The Amish Quilter.

The Amish Quilter is well-written story with an interesting plot. It is much more than an Amish romance. The Amish Quilter is a multifaceted story. We get to know Linda Mueller and her family. As the youngest, Linda’s siblings tend to make decisions on her behalf and tell her what to do (made me happy I was the oldest child). We get to see the inner dynamics of a large Amish family. Linda is struggling with her place in the community and her desire to create art. Her perfectionism and ideals are holding her back. Other issues addressed in the story are depression and autism. The authors handle these difficult topics deftly. I liked Linda’s artistic abilities, but her attitude made her hard to like as a person. She did not like being the odd man out in the family. Others would know something that Linda did not which made her whiny and sound like a six-year-old. I was happy to see Linda’s character develop (grow and mature) as the story progressed. The Amish Quilter is part of a series, but it is a standalone (like all the books in the series). The pace was a little slow and it took me some time to get into the book. Once I got into the book, though, I was intrigued. Linda’s quest for information led to some interesting discoveries about her family. The Amish Quilter is a realistic and emotional story. I am giving The Amish Quilter 4 out of 5 stars.

I thought this book was absolutely mesmerizing and found it very hard to walk away from when other activities were calling my name. This author is a delightfully talented storyteller and the more clues she provided throughout the story, the more interesting and compelling Linda’s grandmother’s story became. Combining the art of quilting with Linda’s grandmother’s art of painting was a wonderful way to tell the story of Linda’s growing maturity. Though I wasn’t always happy with the way she treated Isaac, I hoped that she would come to see that life is not black and white and is full of shades of grey that cause us to search our hearts and our minds and help us grow. One thing I can be always be sure of is that I know I will learn something new about myself when I read a Christian fiction book. In this case this wonderful story and interesting characters have taught me that I have yet to master the art of putting everything in my life in God’s hands as the Amish do. A great story, a romance and a lesson in life make this book a wonderfully heartwarming reading experience. I read an early copy of this book from Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

I have read all of the books in this series coauthored by Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould. I have loved them all, this book is no exceptions. The authors cover a very wide variety of issues and do it very well. If you love Amish fiction as much as I do, I recommend you purchase this book. I was given a copy of the ebook arc by netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review

While I do like the Amish fiction genre, I don’t read a lot of it. However, I found this story intriguing. Every time I started to put this story down, I would find myself continuing to read, so I could find out what was happening. The author does a great job of keeping the reader interested.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Thanks to NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers for making it available.

This is a sweet, clean Amish story by two excellent authors. The storyline covered a wide range of circumstances: Love; romance; family relationships; death of a spouse; autism; and depression. Some weightier topics are touched on. However, throughout the story there’s a sense of hope and faith that gives light to the reader. There’s also a nice touch of mystery/intrigue that kept my interest building as the story progressed. I enjoyed reading Linda’s story. She’s a likeable character who is sincerely interested in others, but a little bit too much of a perfectionist in many areas of her life. She’s the “little sister” of the family, and we see her grow and mature into a lovely young woman.

These two authors work together seamlessly in the writing of this story. Their writing styles certainly complement each other and if you weren’t aware that the book was co-authored, you’d think only one person authored this book.

I loved this story. I’ll be reading more in this series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Loved this book, love the authors! This is definitely a great book. There was some romance, some mystery, all wrapped up together. It was very enjoyable to read. The authors did an excellent job on this, the 5th book of the series. Although I haven't read the previous one, loved this one on its own.

And what a nice cover.

So happy to have read this book.

I received an ebook copy from NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

The Amish Quilter is a book about letting go of the ideals we carry in life and opening ourselves up to what God has in store for us. It may not be what we imagined it would be, but with God it is always perfect.

Linda Mueller is an Amish girl who loves to quilt and she loves her family. When she meets Isaac, a relative of her brother in law she is attracted to him. Not only for his looks but because they both share a love of art. But just as she is beginning to open her heart to Isaac, she learns he has a past that does not fit into what she imagined her future spouse would be like. When Isaac and Linda team up to uncover her family's heritage, they become closer and closer. Soon Linda learns that many of the ideals she had for her family are not reality. Can she let go of the ideals she holds for her future so that she can experience what God has put right in front of her?

The book is well written and the characters are likable and well developed.

The Amish Quilter was a good read. It had a little mystery, a little romance and a lot of dealing with unrealistic expectations. This is the first novel I have read from these two authors. I have to say I enjoyed it more than any of the novels written solely by Clark. There was a balance to the characters and events that I found lacking in just her books.

Being a novice genealogist, I enjoyed the tracking of one of the character’s relatives. It was fun to explore Philadelphia through a newbie's eyes. The art element was portrayed well.

Being an Amish novel was a plus for me. This aspect of the book had a bit of a new twist with one of the characters having a website to show and sell his artwork. Times are changing and those changes are reflected in the Amish culture.

Overall, I would recommend the book.

I received a free copy of the book from NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers in exchange for my honest review. Thank you.

The Amish Quilter Is romantic and faithfull to GOD. Linda has set a high standard for herself regarding others. She also has a big problem of being quick to judge others but what about herself? Hmmmmmmm. She finally meets a guy but she has no inkling about some things in his past - will she drop him because of her being judgemental? As for him - he doesn't know about her family secrets will he drop her? The characters in this book are just that they are characters. Enjoy. I sure did.

I really enjoyed this newest novel by Leslie Gould.
It does start out slow but then when you keep reading it gets better and better until before you know it , the book is over with! I boo hooed when I realized I was finished with it.
This is a great story about family heritage and why things happened the way the did.
I ask myself this all the time. Have you ever wondered where your family is from or where you came from? Since I'm adopted I have no idea. I do know that my adopted family on my dad's side is from Germany. On my mom's side, I have no idea since they've never really talked about it.
My name is Lininger but in German it's Leininger. They dropped the E out of it.
I enjoy a good mystery and Leslie Gould and Mindy Starns Clark have really outdone their selves on this one.
I also enjoyed being taken back in time to when the Depression and all sorts of things happened.
My grandparents were I'd say about middle aged during this era. I don't really know because I can't remember if they talked about it. I'm sure they did.
Even tho I couldn't relate to Linda as being the youngest, I certainly do have some of the same feelings that she did. I was raised as an only child.
I'd give anything to have a big family like Linda. I wouldn't even mind being called some of her pet names that her sisters called her. Now it's just me, my husband and son that are left.
But anyway, I really enjoyed this book.
I strongly recommend this newest book by Leslie and Mindy! You won't want to miss it!!
I received this book for free. All opinions are my own!

The Amish Quilter features idealistic "Little Sister" Linda. If I didn't see the dual authors, I would've never realized the book was co-authored by Mindy Starns Clark & Leslie Gould as the writing is seamless. The book contains romance, mystery, family-life, and Amish customs combined with quilting and the art world and farming and family life. Wonderful book by 2 authors who never fail to keep my attention. Although there are many characters and family members mentioned throughout the book, it isn't difficult to keep people and their stories straight. Very well written. Great read!

I have read and enjoyed every one of Mindy Starns Clark's books. She has the ability to draw the reader in from the first page. The Amish Quilter was also a winner.

Linda is a young, unwed Amish woman, living at home. She works at a fabric and crafting shop and quilts in her spare time. She loves quilting because everything is predictable and perfect. She extends this unrealistic view to her own life and feels she will never marry.

Isaac is a newcomer to her Amish community and she feels something for him. She discovers they both share a love of art and color. But she finds out that Isaac's history does not fit into her prefect little mold of how life should be. Linda must decide if she can surrender her legalism and accept Isaac or miss her chance at happiness.

Intertwined in Linda's story, is a mystery with her grandmother. Her grandmother was a talented painter, but art is discouraged in the Amish world. She went though much hardship and suffering during her life. Linda feels compelled to search out her grandmother's secrets in order to know her better.

Overall, The Amish Quilter is a good story. I liked the characters, plot, and mystery. Mindy Starns Clark writes about depression, isolation, and ultimately, forgiveness.
