I’ve had Murder Girl in my kindle waiting for me to finish it since this past summer. I’ve been in a reading funk since then, but now I’m back at it. It may be due to the holidays coming up and also making time for myself again. I finally finished Murder Girl and I’m so happy I did. Although, I now have to wait until March for the third book to come out.

Lisa Renee Jones knows how to suck me into her well-defined stories and in-depth characters who I either love or hate. In Murder Girl though, Lilah and Kane are still my favorite characters. Lilah’s family members and the bad guys are not the ones I really like at all. Lilah is an FBI profiler who is back in her hometown after a string of murders across the country brings her there. She knows the killer is an assassin, but the local cops in her hometown don’t think so. They would love to pin the blame on Kane, who is Lilah’s on again and off again guy who she won’t have a REAL relationship with. He loves her though, but Lilah is not a ‘relationship’ type girl. I wish she would let him in since he has been there through everything with her, especially in the past. He’s determined to find out who planned to hurt/kill Lilah and Lilah wants to take care of it herself.

Lilah is learning a lot more about her family after being in her hometown for a while and she realizes they may be apart of something that could actually be behind the assassinations. She doesn’t know who to trust, which is why she chooses to handle everything herself. Even though, Kane is who she truly should trust. I realize she has hesitations for a reason because Kane’s father is apart of the cartel and she has an FBI badge, which is a huge conflict, but really how could she resist him. He’s a very good looking guy at least the way Lisa describes him the story.

Lilah is been stalked in Murder Girl though, which is another issue in the story. She has no idea who it is until someone unlikely tellers her who it is. Murder Girl definitely lives up to its name due to Lilah’s character. She’s an amazing profiler and her director even knows she’s great at her job. Even though it has put herself in some very sticky situations in Murder Girl.

Overall, Murder Girl is just as addicting as the first book and I give it 5 stars. I had a hard time putting it down until I finished it. I really hope that Lilah and Kane hook up even more in the next book, even though I know it’s not about the romance in the story, but the actual suspenseful storyline that Lisa Renee Jones has written. I look forward to the next Lilah Love story and I know it’s going to be just as amazing as the first two. 🙂

I hadn’t read the first book but I will now. Excellent story. Believable characters and a really good read. 5/5 on goodreads

I love this author and this book definitely makes me love her work more. Edgy and thrilling. I was hooked from the get go. No one should pass up on reading this book. Can't wait to read more of this series

I will admit to not being a fan of these serialized romances of late, but Jones has written a character and storyline that are addictive. Lilah Love is a very Jessica Jones-like character in attitude and apathy, and her unapologetic approach to her job as an FBI profiler. I absolutely love the character of Kane Mendez, and was happy at the romantic resolution of this second installation. In general, this is a five-star book (characters, story), but I can't get past my irritation at having to wait for resolutions from one book to the next; this is not a publication style I like. That's a one-star approach for me ... but I couldn't bring myself to average it at three because Kane is more than that.

A great sexy introduction to this series. I loved the characters and feel in love with their storyline. Need more from this series. I found myself on the edge of my seat waiting yo find out what happens next.

Just a word of caution. . . if you have not read Murder Note stop right now and go back. Read it. You will not be disappointed. This will lead you on a serious journey. The intensity, the mystery, the twist-n-turns, the pacing all lead to a read that will keep you wanting more, all the way to the end. I found that this read complimented and accentuated book one just perfectly. Lilah Love had a darkside and she was very capable of using it to her advantage. The suspense keeps you hanging on and the allure of it all make you want to not stop reading it. Again I would say that its not much on the romance but it sure packs a huge punch when it comes to the mystery, suspense, and crime fiction. This one loads it up and Lilah Love sells it.

I loved book one in this series, and if possible, I think I loved book two even more. Maybe it was the little bit more of Kane that made it so good. This series or me in the same frame of mind as two of my other favorite series, the Kathleen Turner series by Tiffany Snow and the Lucy Kincaid series by Allison Brennan. It's not a copy of either by any means, but it just has that something special that completely hooks me and makes me hope for a vastly long series. The relationship between Kane and Lilah is intense though definitely not typical. It was fired from the worst of circumstances, but I believe it is going to end up being one for the record books eventually... If Kane has his way. Beyond their relationship, the string of murders creates a dangerous and unsettling situation, even more so because Lilah knows she is the connection between the victims.

I am beyond hooked, and I hope book three is coming soon! I need more Lilah and Kane.

Net Galley provided an ARC.

Don't read unless you've read Murder Notes - the author very nicely tells us that in the beginning!

I didn't finish this one. I was hoping for some redemption from book 1 but it didn't really give me any new insight.

Packed with heart-pumping, edge of your seat suspense and mystery, the second book in the Lilah Love series, does not disappoint!
Lilah is more determined than ever to find the link between the killings that seem to be following her across the county, all the while, clues continue to subtlety link her or her family, in very small ways, to the crimes. So just who is the killer?

How does this assailant know the deep dark secrets of Lilah’s past, that only she and one other person in her life knows about? Why are they playing cat and mouse with the smart-mouthed, tough as nails, Agent Lilah Love? I will let you find out the answers to that for yourself.

What I can tell you is that I have fallen even more in love with Agent Love in this, gripping; second book and I cannot seem to get my fill of her. Lilah manages to stay one step ahead of each and every one that she interacts with and it is fascinating to witness.

She is not a people person, but it is that exactly, that I love about her. She apologizes for nothing, speaks her mind, and holds nothing back. She is a strong, confident and capable woman – one I wish I myself could be more like.

As she discovers answers to the questions she is seeking, more and more information is divulged, opening things up for Agent Lilah Love to have a very long, fulfilling career with the FBI and one I would love to follow.

*I won this book off of Netgalley for my honest opinion*

I do recommend reading book one before reading this book. It really helps you understand what is going on. Book two literally picks right up where book one ended.

I highly enjoyed this fast paced suspense book. This contains lots of female empowerment. This book does focus more on the relationship between Kane and Lilah. You find yourself really rooting for this couple. It does pull on the heart strings in this book.

The writing kept the reader intrigued and entertained. The way the second book left off could open room for another book. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys fast paced suspense novels. The romance aspect definitely is a secondary story line.

Another fantastic book from LRJ! The chemistry and relationship between Lilah and Kane is still just as hot and fierce as the first book, the action and drama kept me up way past my bedtime, but this book was definitely worth the book hangover I had the next day!

This is the continuation of a story started in Murder Notes. For continuity I would definitely say you should read book one first.

Having finished the previous book I was desperate to get started on the sequel. As with Murder Notes the author has written a story which gripped me immediately and kept me hostage until the very end. The relationship between Lilah and Kane is brilliantly done. The ending suggests far more to come and I personally can’t wait to see what happens next.

Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.

I loved this book. Lisa definitely has the gift. Lots of twist and turns, secrets and questions answered, just about. It was fast paced and action packed with intrigue to blow the mind. Fantastic writing. There’s tons of characters again, each one with his or her own uniqued identity, all possibly keeping secrets. A wonderful read, I highly recommend it!

After reading Book 1 (Murder Notes), I knew I had to have book 2! Believe me when I say, Murder Girl didn't disappoint either! This is the second book in the Lilah Love Series. Lisa Renee Jones has done it again! I couldn't put this book down! You will enjoy the hot pull between Detective Love and Kane Mendez (her ex). This book picks right up after book 1 (you'll want to read Murder Notes first). Lilah is on her quest to solve the murder cases that seem to be connected to her past....a past she would rather forget. Will she get her answers......probably not all of them, but it will leave you waiting for the next installment! Nothing like a book that leaves you wanting more and this one does!

5 STARS FOR LILAH!! Another phenomenal story in this series. Lilah continues her story with all the twists and turns and full of suspense. We did get some answers in this book that we were waiting on from the first book, Murder Notes. Lisa Renee Jones is a fantastic author that keeps you turning pages. If you haven't started this series, what are you waiting for.

Fast paced story with a lot of twists and turns that add to the intrigue along with the secrets, lies and betrayals. This was a great read with well developed characters and a great plot!

This book is like a runaway train racing every closer to a showdown between our intrepid heroine and a vicious and highly skilled assassin. Lilah Love is an FBI profiler up to her ears in dead bodies and chasing a highly skilled killer who leaves no evidence behind to help her flesh out a profile that will help to solve her current case. While she’s back in the Hampton’s she’s assailed with painful reminders of her mother’s death, her father’s apathy and her big brother, the Chief of Police. Add a stalker, her current love interest who follows her to town and a sexy ex-lover who will make you swoon and I promise you’ll be glued to this book from beginning to end. It’s a fast paced, smartly written conclusion to Murder Notes that paves the way to an entire series that I can’t wait to sink my teeth into. I read an early copy of this book through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

In this second installment, we find Lilah Love trying to unravel who "Junior" is. She is also suspicious that there is more behind these murders than meets the eye. She begins to unravel some disturbing facts surrounding the mysterious tattoo. Lilah believes that these murders are related and begins to suspect that her mother's helicopter crash was no accident. Lilah doesn't know who she can trust, except Kane Mendez. She begins to suspect her BFF at the time may have set her up for her attack. When Lilah continues to turn over stones in her quest for the truth, she begins to realize that this is far more sinister than she first realized.

The book was much better than the first one in keeping me focused on what Lilah was doing.. It wasn't nearly as choppy and did reveal a lot of secrets that helped in the clear picture we are given as to who is behind these murders. Lilah does come across better in this book and I actually started to like her somewhat. She is still brash and unapologetic, but her personality begins to make sense. I won't give away what happens since the book has a few twists and turns, but I will say it did make sense for this story.

I received an ARC from St. Martin's Press for my honest review.

3.5 Stars

It is highly recommended that you read the first Lilah Love book... MURDER NOTES. Murder Girl is a continuation featuring all the characters from the first book. The beginning of Murder Girl gives a several-page synopsis of the first book, all the characters and how they all relate to each other.

Lilah Love is an FBI profiler who manages to inhabit killers' minds. She calls it her dark side. She is called in to investigate brutal killings taking place in various parts of the country. Each killing is tied to a mysterious tattoo ... a tatto she is only too familiar with.

The killer is leading her straight to her hometown ... a small community filled with long buried secrets.

This is a well-written suspense, with unforgettable characters. Again, it is recommended that the reader start at the beginning in order to understand what's happening in this book. Parts of the story seemed to drag a little, but would quickly pick up the action again.

Many thanks to the author / Montlake Romance / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
