A full-bodied, passionate and intriguing Scottish historical romance, The Warrior of Clan Kincaid is a dramatic and emotional tale readers will find hard to put down and impossible to forget.

Derryth MacClaren’s life is in jeopardy. Having been sent away from her castle home in fear for her life, Derryth is on the run and is desperate to avoid capture by a vicious nobleman known as The Wolf, who has vowed revenge against Clan Kincaid. Submitting to the enemy is something Derryth simply is not prepared to do, however, the best laid plans do tend to have a habit of going awry as she realises when she is left vulnerable after a surprise attack and ends up claimed by an enemy warrior as his prize, with The Wolf’s blessing. Derryth is absolutely terrified of what the enemy has in store for her, however, her fears soon prove unfounded when she realises that the man she feared most is a gentle and kind-hearted man she cannot help but fall madly in love with. His honeyed words and seductive touch compels her to give herself to him body and soul. Yet, Derryth soon realises that there is more to her warrior lover than meets the eye after she realises that he has a tattoo on his arm that links and unites them in ways she had never imagined before…

Cull has no memory of his past or his family. Having no recollection of his history and heritage, Cull is a trained warrior steadfast in his loyalty to the Scottish king who has given his entire life to fighting and to serving the Crown. When the lass who has come to mean the world to him informs him of his true identity, Cull is absolutely shocked as he finds himself torn between duty to the family he has never known and desire to the woman who has come to mean the world to him. Derryth has awakened feelings and emotions that he had never previously experienced before. A life without her is intolerable and unbearable, but will he be forced to give her up to exact revenge on those who had destroyed his family?

Will Cull be forced to surrender his precious lass all in the name of honour and duty? Or will he find a way to keep her by his side?

A beautifully written, highly evocative and wonderfully romantic tale that aims straight for the heart, The Warrior of Clan Kincaid is a Scottish epic of duty, passion, desire and retribution that will make readers fall deeply in love with strong, resilient and courageous Derryth and brooding, enigmatic and valiant warrior Cull. Lily Blackwood has the storyteller’s gift and has penned an intensely dramatic, searingly emotional and powerfully poignant historical romance readers will not be able to resist.

An absolute must-read that will keep readers riveted to the page from start to finish, The Warrior of Clan Kincaid is an outstanding romance that delivers on all counts!

This was a very exciting, fun, kind of enchanting read. The reading flow was great, no boring pages to get through. The characters were well written and even though I did not read the first two books I don't feel I've walked into a continued storyline

Final book in the Kincaid trilogy set in the wilds of Scotland. Derryth is escaping her kins castle to escape from the impending arrival of Buchan the third son of King Robert known as the wolf. Captured by the enemy she must keep her disguise secret. She becomes under the protection of Cull who was found as a child by the wolf and has been like a member of his family ever since. This has caused infighting with Duncan the wolf’s natural son.
This love story takes us through Derryth’s emotions for Cull and her heart being seduced. Will Cull’s past alter both their fates.
This final book complete’s the brothers trilogy and it is well worth checking out the other two.
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Gifted read for an honest review by Netgalley. While I love highland romance this just fell flat. The drama, romance and strong highlanders are definitely represented in this story, however the Yeah was just the last chapter and done. Historical romance, good story and good finish to the three brothers story. It just didn't balance! You need to equal the drama, violence and mystery with the good the romance and the HEA. 2.5 star

This was a phenomenal read! As with all of Lily Blackwood’s stories this one didn’t disappoint! Everything came together as it should. I really recommend that you start the series from the beginning. I loved the plot it flowed well and the characters were likeable. The romance between the hero and heroine was palpable. Honorable and fearless Cull finds what he’s been looking for in Derryth. This was full of emotional twists the plot keeps you in suspense the romance is sizzling.

I recieved a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my unbiased opinion.

The story was enthralling. I can't wait to read the previous two books in the series. Cull was brave and fantastic and commanding enough to deal with a free-spirited, strong-willed woman like Derryth. Great historical romance!

A wonderful story that pulls together all the magic of a historical romance. A lost brother who does not remember who he is and has been living another life. A sweet heroine who figures out his identity and only wants to help him. Secrets, betrayal, deep emotions and truths that have been hidden that come to the surface. Yes, perfect!!
Derryth MacClaren is sent away from Inverhaven of Clan Kincaid, where she has been living with her sister, to seek safety in case the castle is attacked. Traveling disguised she and her companions are captuered by the enemy they were trying to avoid. Cull the Nameless, a member of the King's guard saves her from being abused by his men. He had been raised without remembering who he was since a young age. Taken in by Buchan, known as the Hawk, he has been raised as a warrior and part of the enemy of Clan Kincaid.
Therein the story begins with the emotions that begin to spill over between Cull and Derryth. Lily Blackwood has brought history alive with strong characters that move this plot quickly along. I was not able to put it down until the last page was turned. This has been an amazing series that will be remembered and read again.

Finally, Cullen's story! We've waited 18 months for the 3rd and final book in the Clan Kincaid series. But it was worth waiting for! As with her first 2 books this story had you captivated from start to finish.
Your heart just went out to Cull for all that he endured as a child who was sold to slaves. Yet he didn't let that keep him down and became a fine warrior and a true knight in shining armor, especially when he saved Derryth from being raped.
Derryth knew Cull was the enemy but saw the good in him. He was honorable, kind and generous.
Betrayal, jealousy, love, family, all the emotions you'll see in this book. If you haven't read the first two, I strongly suggest you do. This can be read as a stand alone but is even better with the background of the first 2 books.

This is an entertaining, romantic and fascinating story. Cull is a strong, fierce and determined warrior, but he's also kind, loyal and caring. Derryth is brave, smart and gentle. Cull thinks only to keep the dirty peasant with him in order to gain the cooperation of the rest of the travelers, but he soon discovers that he is a she, and that she's beautiful, and that he's intensely attracted to her. Derryth is biding her time waiting for a chance of escape, but she becomes more attracted, and finds more to like about him, the longer she is with him. Unfortunately for them, jealousy rules the minds of people close to him, and they play havoc with the lives of everyone. There's betrayal, revelations, romance and friendship in the storyline, and a very satisfying happy ending. I loved this story and I highly recommend adding it to your TBR list.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Since starting this series I’ve been flying through each book, wanting to read the grand finale. I loved the feel of this author’s writing. She captures the feel or this era really well. The story she tells grows bigger and more detailed with each installment. The mystery and suspense weaves in and out of each part smoothly and the MCs are the icing on the cake.

Finally getting to meet the youngest Kincaid was exciting and Cull was such a torn individual. I loved his determination but it did border on stubborn when it came to Derryth. These two had some humorous moments that showed a softer side to Cull then what he shows the outside world. Not knowing his origins really messes with him and that prologue will make your heart ache for young Cull.

His heroine Derryth, I was not expecting that! Loved that she goes through an important change in her own story. Gone is the young frivolous girl we've briefly met before and in her place is a grown woman who sees the bigger picture now. I loved that we get to see her grow into a strong partner for Cull and that she was instrumental in bringing this proud family together.

This was more angst ridden then the previous books imo, and although the love story was great, the ongoing revenge plot felt like it faded into the background. I missed seeing the other brothers and was disappointed the family interactions were so few and far between.

The ending was full of twists and turns that I did not see coming and it kept me glued to the pages. I have to say though that the Afterword regarding the Wolf - that right there - was AMAZING. Without it I think I would have taken back a star but I'm so glad it was included because it gave the readers the closure we needed after three books of hearing the horrid things this villain did over something so petty! So thank you Lily Blackwood! That ending was so worthy of this series :)

Memorable Moments:
The secret wedding scene, who doesn’t love the dramatic antics of true love, Lol!

Would I recommend? Yes. The series as a whole was awesome! I loved this time frame and the romance and heat was spot on J If you liked Julie Garwood’s Highlander romances (The Wedding, The Bride, The Secret, Ransom & Shadow Music) I think this will strike a chord.

I enjoyed this book immensely. As with all of Lily Blackwood's novels this one drew you in and kept you intrigued down to the smallest detail. I found the novel to be an intriguing historical romance with just the perfect amount of intrigue. The foreshadowing in the piece was done so effortlessly that while you followed the thoughts you had no perceived notion that it was in fact foretelling occurrences to come.

Cull is a man on a mission to make a life for himself despite having been a Slavic slave who was born in Scotland before he was rescued by Buchan the youngest song of the King. The detail and knowledge going into this novel was especially evident in the characters and none more so than Cull and his life occurrences. I found myself falling in love with him right along with his female counterpart as he unraveled the occurrences happening around his preparations to storm the Kincaid Clan's keep.

Derryth is a woman who at the beginning of the novel is more girl than grown. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like her. As she said herself she was spoiled and didn't have much to recommend her. Yet, as the book progressed her character did so as well until I found myself agreeing that she could infect be acceptable, if not necessarily worthy, of a woman for Cull. Hiding in plain sight amongst the warriors planning to wage war on her family she fights an inner battle against her emotions for Cull and her responsibility to her family.

I found the book to be a great read, another fascinatingly romantic story by Lily Blackwood. The other novels of this series are must reads as well and in my opinion should be read prior to this one, although the book's storyline is certainly understandable without reading them. I did enjoy the others as well though. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for an excellent Scottish romance.

THE WARRIOR OF CLAN KINCAID by Lily Blackwood is book Three in the Highland Warrior series. This is the story of Derryth MacClaren and Cullen Braewick. I have read the previous books (and Loved them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book if you want to do so.
Derryth is having to live her home as 'The Wolf' has threaten their family. But along the way she is captured by Cullen who works for 'The Wolf". Cullen doesn't know his family and only knows to be a fighter/ warrior. But he is promised Derryth along with other things but when Derryth tells him who she thinks he is...decisions have to be made.
This was another exciting read from Ms. Blackwood! Love her books and this one did not disappoint!

My favourite historical time period! Set in Scotland with some rugged warriors and tough as nails females, this novel will have you falling in love!

Fearing for Derryth’s safety, her family sends her away thinking to protect herself from the Wolf – a noble in the local area who has vowed revenge on the Kincaids (a history that we don’t fully appreciate until about halfway through the story). The only problem? Her family sends her right into the hands of the enemy and his faithful warrior, Cull. Cull is a legend in his own right – fierce and savage in many minds but what we see in him as a captor makes us realize there is more than meets the eye. He is kind, gentle and thoughtful to Derryth (even when she pushes every button possible!). They get off on a rocky start but as Derryth begins to learn there is more to his harsh exterior, she slowly opens up to him. That is when she finds the tattoo on his arm. Cull who has always believed him to belong to no one – no family, no clan and who was rescued from a slave ship finds this hard to believe. How could he of all people have a family? A life? A home?

The plot begins to thicken even more as we realize that the man he has protected his whole life is the reason he grew up without a family – the Wolf killed his Father, denied him his heritage and fully knowing who he was – he never told him of his past.

This is a story of betrayal, revenge but it is also full of hope, family bonds and love. We feel Cull’s pain and disbelief. His lack of understanding that he could have a future with people he loved, something he felt he never deserved and struggled with this acceptance. It is a story of survival and pushing forward – we need to let go of our past in order to embrace our futures. This was a definite fantastic read from start to finish!

The Warrior of Clan Kincaid by Lily Blackwood
Highland Warrior #3

A family destroyed
Three sons separated for years
A trilogy of stories
Strength, endurance & perseverance
Retribution & Vengeance
HEA for all three sons

Finally we find out what happened to the youngest Kincaid brother. Cullen Braewick ended up sold into slavery when most of his family was butchered. Years later he was purchased by Buchan – The Wolf – to be trained as a warrior. Little does he know that Buchan’s agenda is one of revenge, murder and mayhem that will hurt Cull if he follows orders explicitly.

Into Cull’s hands falls Derryth MacClaren. She is saved by him from a “fate worse than death” and thus begins their sparring, getting to know one another and eventual HEA. With kidnapping, misdirection, murder and more this is an action-packed story of wrong doing eventually righted and family once again together.

I would like to know more about the brothers and their families further down the road but have a feeling that this may be the last book in the series…maybe?

Did I enjoy the book? Yes
Did I like Cull & Derryth? Yes
Would I read other books by this author? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

The Warrior of Clan Kincaid by Lily Blackwood. I so enjoyed the story about Derryth MacClaren, who was sent from her castle home to avoid capture by Buchan, also known as the Wolf. He was a brutal man who wanted to destroy the Kincaid Clan. In her escape, she ended up captured by an enemy warrior known as Cull the Nameless. Even though he thinks she is a peasant, he makes himself her protector until such time he can release her. A great story finding out who he truly is. I received an advance copy for my honest review.

The set-up of this book was more interesting to me than the execution. The historical part of the story was engaging, but in a romance, I really want to feel the connection between the hero and heroine. I felt gratitude and lust, but I didn't really get a sense of any long-term love beyond that.

LOVE TAKES NO PRISONERS

Derryth MacClaren is on the run. Traveling under heavy guard, she has been sent from her castle home to avoid capture by the vicious nobleman known as the Wolf, who has vowed revenge against the Clan Kincaid, and any who support them. When a surprise attack leaves her vulnerable, Derryth ends up in the hands of an enemy warrior who claims her, with the Wolf’s blessing, as his prize. But her captor’s gentle words and touch seduce her heart—and body—completely...and when she discovers the tattoo on his arm that proves him to be the legendary, long-believed dead son of the murdered Laird of Kincaid, Derryth knows she must find a way to alter his fate—and her own.

Cull has no memory of his family or past—all he knows is the life of a warrior, trained to fight on behalf of the Scottish king. If he can help the king’s law officer of the North, the Wolf of Badenoch, defeat a rebellious faction of Highlanders, Cull will be met with untold riches beyond possessing beautiful, innocent Derryth. But now that she has informed him of who he really is—Cullen Braewick, the youngest son of the slain laird—he is torn. If Cull exacts revenge against the Wolf, who executed his father, he stands to lose the precious lass who he has come to love. What is he willing to sacrifice for Derryth to keep her safe...and in his arms?

Review:

I can say this was my first book by this Author, but it will not be the last.

In this story Cullen, who has had a lonely life finds the one who will make him whole and give him the family he always wanted. I really liked the story, it was exciting, heart-felt and fun to read. I thought the Author did a good job of writing an interesting story, that was action packed. I liked that Cullen has no clue about his past but is working towards a goal to make himself happy. Derryth originally comes off as spoiled, but she is totally not and becomes so strong and spunky when she is captured. I loved Cull and Derryth together the connection they have and the spark are great. Being on separate sides of the conflict made me root for them even more. The ending was very satisfying and made a nice full circle for Cull.

A very entertaining read.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

When you have a captive to love book, there is a really fine line to make the romance believable and not resemble a Stockholm Syndrome love. I am happy to say that this book did a great job!

When Derryth is captured by the enemy army that is laying siege to her family's castle, giving in easily to her captor, Cull, would not fit so it was over a period of time that she falls for Cull and he realizes that he returned those feelings.

There are some twists and turns to the story and lots of drama and action so it was hard to put the book down! I had to read it all the way through to the end to see how they were going to have a solution when Cull was ordered to capture her clan's castle. A few surprises along the way that I did not see coming and really tied up the story line.

I mean how could Derryth live with a man that would capture and kill her family?!! How could Cull not follow the king's orders to capture the Kincaid's castle?

The only thing that I would have liked added to the story was what happened to Nathan!

I did not read any of the previous books in this series and it was easy to follow along so it was really a stand alone book. At the end, there were the previous couples so it was kind a good closing to their story. I do hope that we get to see more of Robert and that he eventually finds love.

<i>I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. </i>

This is the last book of the series, and honestly...i never imagined that Cull would have that kind of life.

There was no motive, but, with Cull, he did what was asked of him. He lost his memory as a young boy, and being in his shoes, he did what he had to do to survive. He fought, and became the best in the field.

However, I hated the man behind this demeanor, the reasons for Kincaid to fall. It was such a petty thing, but his action cause a whole clan to be destroyed, and for the three brothers to become what they were.

Derryth, on the other had, was something that I was not expecting to be a heroine in a book. Yes, i know, but still, her personality compliments Culls ways.

I love the book, but I was expecting something... grand, then again, the ending, and how Cull was introduce to his rightful family was the best part.

As the series end, I had to go back to the review i had on book one. Incidentally, i found this:

<blockquote>"I would not be surprise when if one of the three brothers would have a amnesia or some drastically life altering even. The end book one opens possibilities that came about to book two. And I am excited to read it too. "</blockquote>

It would seem that my prediction was right. Either way, I enjoyed reading the series. I would love to read it again, if i can find some spare time to do so.
