In a Flutter: A sweet second chance romance

Fluttering Thoughts:
Worldbuilding: Gainsville, Georgia, Colorado Mountains, on the run sort of setting for part of the story. Cool Omega Sector concept!
Characters: Cain seems like a good guy, all caring and protective alpha male type of agent.
Hayley is a nice mix of hacker and small town girl, and the stuff she dealt with made it easy to empathize with her.
They had some chemistry, but I didn’t feel much hotness to it, tbh. Probably because of the whole kid thing, too – it’s a scenario I find decidedly unromantic, with the chase and everything else on top of that. Sweet, but unromantic – personal preference, for sure.
Plot: Nice mix of second chance romance with a flavor of enemies to lovers and secret baby. It’s not a scenario that works for me, tbh. The suspense arc was interesting, nice rhythm of action, but of course the focus wasn’t the intrigue as much as the romance angle, which for me came off as unromantic, sadly. When I read the blurb, I thought this would be a story about a second chance romance between two agents or an agent and some sort of co-worker/partner for a case, with an enemies to lovers spin – but no babies. If I’d known it would be a secret baby sweet romance type of story, I wouldn’t have gone for it, truth be told.
Writing: Third person, past tense narrative, his/her POV. Nice banter, though little page time for it since there was so much else going on.
Curb Appeal: Cool cover, hooking blurb, through it gave me the impression that it would be a bit of a different trope mix.

I recommend Major Crimes to fans of Romantic Suspense second chance romance, especially the secret baby twist. It wasn’t that wild of a ride for me, but it’s sweet and if you’re into that mix, I think you’ll have a great time with it

Secrets abound in this nail-biter from Janie Crouch! With the next book in the Omega Sector: Under Siege series, we're getting one step closer to finding out who the mole is inside Omega Sector! Cain Bennett is brought to the forefront to try to secretly track the movements of the traitor, but to do so, he needs the help of his former love ... only she isn't exactly free to help him right now! The story line was exciting throughout, and we got to step away from the action we're used to and solve another case. I enjoyed it!

Omega Sector agent Cain Bennett knows the person that can help him uncover the traitor, but he's not so sure she's going to agree to help him. She was once his high school sweetheart, and when they met up again a few years later, he just happened to send her to prison for hacking!

Hayley Green knows she committed a crime and has now paid her dues for it. She's barely out of prison when Cain shows up out of the blue. She knows he was just doing his job in arresting her as part of the cyber crime ring, but she'll never forgive him for sleeping with her just to get information! She might be forced to help him with this case ... because the money will most definitely come in handy ... but she won't voluntarily be sharing her secrets!

Cain worked on a case that cracked down on some hackers little did he know the girl he was eith Hayley was in on it. Hayley is out on parole and trying to live life but its hard with a criminal record. Meanwhile Cain is working on a case that deals with a murder and a good hacker and Cain knows of only one hacker that could match the persons in connection with the murder, Hayley. Hayley wants nothing to do with Cain when he strikes a deal but she got her secrets and now it seems like the killer is on to Hayley and doesn't want her getting to close.

Overall this was a pretty great suspenseful book. I loved seeing the connection between the two. I loved seeing how they worked together even with their issues of the past and enjoyed watching as the secrets that's been kept underwraps get revealed. I loved that there was so much going on in this book that at times it became hard to put this book down. This book had so many twist and turns and gets complicated and all the more fun to read. Overall a pretty great book, I look forwards to seeing more from this series.

Major Crimes is the 4th book in the Omega Sector under Siege series by Janie Crouch. These books never get old. I love hanging on the edge of my seat trying to find out who the mole is inside the Omega Sector unit. These hints are starting to drive me crazy.

Haley and Cain have some major chemistry and considering the past they have to overcome this book leads us with so many twit and turns. I loved trying to figure out who was after Haley but I have to admit I had ad idea on this one early on in the book.

I love the alpha male in Cain and how he is totally all about protecting his family.

Gainesville, Georgia – The Present

Four years ago Cain Bennet, head of the Omega Sector Protection and Recovery Division, a top Federal law enforcement agency, sat in court while the love of his life since high school, Hayley Green, was sentenced to prison for computer hacking. Worse, he was responsible for her arrest, and while he had requested no jail time, the judge set Hayley up as an example, giving her four years in prison. Now Omega Sector has not only a psychopath killer hunting agents but also a very computer savvy mole within the company giving the killer information. It is his job to find out who the mole is, but he needs the best computer hacker outside the company to do the job. He needs Hayley’s help.

Hayley, now out of prison on parole, works at the Bluewater Gill thanks to the owner, another high school classmate, who gave her a job. She works exhausting hours, not as a waitress or cook, but busing tables, dishwashing, and cleaning the restaurant at less than minimum wage. She didn’t expect Cain Bennet to walk in, and never expected a job offer, but she needs all the money she can get to protect her three and a half year old son, Mason. During her time in prison, Hayley's cousin Ariel has taken care of Mason. Of course, danger follows her with Cain’s reemergence into her life.

MAJOR CRIMES is the fourth book in this series, but since I haven’t read the previous books, I know readers will not have any problem getting involved in the story. Both Cain and Hayley are intriguing, ethical characters in an unethical world. Since Neither Cain nor Hayley trusts one another, and while it is true that each knows the truth in their side of the story, unexpected factors and situations crop up in their search for a traitor. Eventually these created danger for Hayley, her son and her cousin, Cain, his agency, law enforcement, and even the country. This is a very suspenseful, fast-paced and rich story full of human foibles, and the trouble where those faults can lead. Good reading.

Hayley and Cain had to overcome a few issues to achieve a happy medium and their journey was one of rediscovery, understanding, and a sweet romance. Cyber crimes, hit lists, and who to trust...Major Crimes is fast paced and action-packed! I loved how absorbing this book was!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Since this is story is part of a ongoing series I was able to pick up the story pretty fast. The story is your basic romance with action mixed in. The characters are likable enough that if readers had started from the beginning of the series they would be more attached to the different characters mentioned though out the book.
The story moves at a fast pace will make it a fun fast read for the summer pool.

This story is a stand alone but to really enjoy the story readers should start at the beginning.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Harlequin Intrigue for the advance copy of Janie Crouch Major Crimes.

I love Janie Crouch reads and this one was no exception. This is a must read for anyone who likes mystery and suspense! Usually it is the male MC who does jail time, so it was a nice change to see the opposite (though I hate to see my heroines doing jail time). At first I wasn't sure I would like Cain (especially what he did to poor Hayley) but he grew on me and redeemed himself.
The only downside is that I started reading this at at 9pm and couldn't put it down until I finished it at 2:30am! S*^ks when you have to go to work next day......

I never get tired of these books!! In this one, you have a woman who is just out of prison, a guy who put her there, and the baby neither expected. There is action and danger mixed in with Hayley and Cain rediscovering their relationship. Really engaging.

(a review will be posted on the blog closer to the release date!)
