Laurie and Jack almost meet one day in December. Their eyes meet, hers from a double decker bus, his from a cold bus stop, and a connection is made. Laurie and her best friend Sarah look for "bus boy" for almost a year with no luck. When their paths finally do cross it seems as though their attraction for each other is not to be.
Sarah, Jack and Laurie go through many years together in this funny, sometimes heart wrenching story.
To Josie Silver I say "Well done!" Nora Ephron would definitely enjoy this one.

I found out about this book while I was scrolling through NetGalley. The book reminded me of a mix of Love, Rosie and One Day. As you may have noticed, I am a sucker for anything in the romantic genre. I'll be honest, going into the book, I thought I had the plot figured out. Often, books in this genre are on the predictable side. Instead, I found One Day in December was a well executed, genre defying, just plain-old-good book.

I love Laurie. She is imperfect, but she tries her best in all areas of her life. What I really love about her is her level of self-reflection and the value she puts on her relationship with Sarah. Laurie spent the better part of a year pining and obsessing over the man she saw at a bus stop and when he resurfaced as Sarah's new boyfriend, she didn't do the predictable thing and try to steal him away. Instead, she did the realistic thing and repressed the hell out of her feelings and valued her friendship with Sarah above everything else. Throughout the book the focus of the book wasn't only on the one between Jack and Laurie, but also on the one between Laurie and Sarah. The amount of development of the secondary characters was spectacular, something that is rare in this genre.

One Day in December is told from the point of view of both Jack and Laurie. Reading their story from both points of view really added to the depth of it all. You see them both struggle to balance their initial attraction with their precarious situation with Jack as Sarah's boyfriend. Without going into too many details, you get to see both Jack and Laurie try to suppress their chemistry and do the right thing by Laurie and the rest of the people in their lives. It's complex, it's authentic, and it's well done will-they-won't-they story.

I really can't recommend One Day in December highly enough. The characters were deep and complex and real. There were emotional and real consequences for their actions. I delighted in watching them grow and evolve as people throughout the years the book follows them. The plot rarely dragged. This book was a delight cover to cover and I can't wait to read more of Josie Silver's books.

A charming romance of a cute meet, will they or won't they, novel set mostly in England that covers a period of ten years. I read it in one sitting and stayed up late to find out if our protagonists lived happily ever after. Will definitely recommend to collection development colleagues.

I really enjoyed this book. I’m a sucker for romances and the second I saw “meet cute” I knew I wanted to read it.
Besides the fact that these girls drank more wine than is recommended by normal people, i laughed, cried, smiled, laughed some more and cried some more. I enjoyed the ending, it was a cute way to end this sweet romance.

2018 has been an amazing year of talent for new releases and I can proudly say that this little beauty sits proudly on that shelf!

Oh my goodness Josie Silver you have my heart with how beautifully your words and talent is expressed across these pages of One Day in December.

This book was NOTHING that I expected. What a beautiful and powerful tale of love, loss, friendship, and how love can span across a lifetime.

One beautiful wintery day Laurie is on the bus and she happens to look out her window to see heart stopper Jack. They both have an instant connection but Jack never got on the bus. A year goes by and Laurie has done nothing but look high and low for this mysterious bus lover.

Until one day.. Laurie goes to a Christmas party with her best friend Sarah... who can't stop talking about this new boyfriend she has that she wants to marry. Well..... ladies and gents Laurie has found her bus boy Jack.. who is her best friends new boyfriend. YIKES.

Let me tell you this is NOT a typical love triangle. Oh my gosh is this novel so much more then just a love story. I became so invested in these characters and gobbled this book up like a turkey dinner!

Josie flawlessly interweaves the path and storyline of the three characters perfectly.

"You tread lightly through life, but you leave deep footprints that are hard for other people to fill."

You need this book in your life... pre order this one because it deserves a raw and rare spot on your bookshelf!!!

4.5 stars!

It is an enchanting trek across ten years of friendship, joys, loss, heartbreak, tears, love. LIFE. You know that life we all actually live? Totally relatable. Incredibly sensitive. Wonderfully inspiring. Absolutely delightful. And the cover – all gorgeousness.

One Day in December is right up there as one of the best romantic dramas, ever. You must read this book. Definitely one for our shelves.

This book is everything I wanted it to be. I love stories about missed connections, love and what ifs, and this one hit the nail right on the head. I loved the friendship between Laurie and Sarah, and this story shows how complicated love and friendship can be. A pure romance story, with no steamy scenes.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a free arc of this book in exchange for a review. This does not affect my opinion.

I was expecting One Day in December to be another Bridget Jones knock off - which is fine, I loved the books and movies and was prepared to love this book as well. There are some similirities and even some references, but this was a unique and individual tale.

Laurie (sometimes Lu or Laurel) and Sarah are share a flat in London.and have done since they were in University together. On her way home from work just before Christmas, Laurie spots a handsome young man reading at a bus stop. Their eyes meet, she feels the "zing" and tries to get off the bus as he tries to get on, to no avail.

One year later, Laurie and Sarah have had no luck tracking down "bus boy". Sarah- gorgeous, funny and working toward a career in television journalism is dying for Laurie to meet her new boyfriend, Jack. As you may have guessed, Jack is "bus boy." This is where the novel stops being about unrequited love and becomes more about friendship and being true to yourself. Laurie and Jack struggle with their attraction, never really acting on it out of mutual love for Sarah. But lives change and people change and nine years can have a big affect on relationships of any kind.

I loved this book and enjoyed reading it so much. I'm very fond of modern British fiction and am adding Josie Silver to the authors I read regularly.

I received this galley on Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I have to say that I really liked this book! The writing and editing were on point, the story itself was provocative and really made me want to read further! I will definitely recommend this read to others. Well done!

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. When Laurie and Jack see each other through a bus window, it was love at first site. Laurie spent almost a year looking for the "guy from the bus stop," and finally finds him when her best friend Sarah brings Jack home as her new boyfriend. Laurie is crushed but doesn't want to say anything because Sarah is so happy. This is the beginning of a ten year up and down story with many twists and turns for Laurie and Jack. Some reviewers have said that parts of this story are unrealistic, but I loved this story! The plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat, and the romance was heartfelt. This is a must read!

Great story about a boy “meeting” a girl by chance by seeing each other through a bus window. This story spans over about 10 years and they go through many ups and downs, making you (the reader) wonder what’s going to happen to them next. They are in each others’ lives because of friends, but can’t be with one another because of the circumstances. A great book & season to get me ready for Christmas!

Sometimes one look is all it takes and you just know.... Then you second guess yourself and tell yourself that this doesn't happen in real life. But I'm here to tell you, this kind of story does happen in real life which was why I was captured from page 1 and couldn't put it down. I knew it was a love story and I thought "they should get together and give this story a very happy ending," but the twists and turns were captivating! By the time I hit 80% I STILL couldn't quite figure out how it might end! Excellent story and I will highly recommend it!

This was a quick read that gets better the further into the book you read. The characters seem superficial in the beginning and it took me a while to get invested in them, but by midway through a real love story and morale dilemma emerge. Written simply, it’s easy to picture all the characters and I could definitely see this story as a movie. A very enjoyable, ideal summer read.

This was a very romantic story that spans over time. It is complicated and messy but will leave you feeling like there is such a thing as love at first sight and fate. Very sweet!

First, thank you Netgalley for a copy of the book in exchange for a review.

I am NOT a romantic person, but I wanted to read something different from all of the thrillers I have been reading lately. I was shocked that I enjoyed the book as much as I did. For starters it wasn't your normal, typical love story which right off the bat worked for me. Its more of a story about the "What Ifs" , and "maybe's". Honestly it was the first real "romance" novel that I have read. I wasn't rolling my eyes or getting annoyed as I read it (looking at you Me before You) in fact I was almost relating to it at some points.

For me, I loved the friendship of Laurie and Sarah. It was honestly my favorite part of the book and one that I was more caught up in then the triangle (there always has to be a triangle right?). Although it reminded me that some time those tiny moments that people have, can impact their whole life.

Josie Silver wrote a beautiful book, which honestly will leave you with all the feels.

After a string of heavy, tough books, I was ready for a great chick lit read and One Day in December by Josie Silver fit the bill perfectly! Set in London- one of my favorite places on Earth- Laurie is a twenty-something aspiring magazine journalist living with her fabulous and gorgeous best friend Sarah. One day in December (get it??), Laurie is on the top level of a double-decker bus when she sees her dream man sitting as a bus stop. They lock eyes, the world stops, and Laurie falls in love. Unfortunately the bus pulls away before they can meet.

She then spends the next year looking for this mystery love of her life, only to finally be introduced to him at Christmastime as her BEST FRIEND'S NEW BOYFRIEND! The book spans several years and follows Laurie, Sarah, and Jack's (bus guy) points of view. I loved this book because it wasn't just a simple love story, but was honest, real, and complicated with twists and turns galore. There also wasn't a "bad guy" in the group, which made you feel for the characters just that much more.

If you're looking for your newest beach read, this is it! The ending did NOT disappoint.

4 out of 5 stars for One Day in December by Josie Silver, which will be published on October 18th, 2018. E-book will be released September 1st.

Thanks to NetGalley and Crown Publishing for the opportunity to read and honestly review this wonderful book!

I loved this book. It was exactly what I expected, but didn’t lean to corny. If I had paid more attention to the description, I wouldn’t have been so surprised that it took them so long to find one another. I would read another by this author. Would have loved to read a little more London in it though.

5 stars! One Day In December by Josie Silver was quite the page turner. I LOVED this book! The way this story was weaved made me feel like the characters were my friends and I was right along beside them on their journey.
