BOOK BLURB

When Texas Ranger Brett Tucker accidentally derails a wedding, he's determined to bring the estranged couple back together...but he never dreamed he'd start falling for the bride!

Texas Ranger Brett Tucker hates to break up a wedding, but the groom―notorious criminal Frank Foster―is a danger to any woman. So he busts into the church, guns blazing...only to find he has the wrong man.

STOP THAT WEDDING!

Bride-to-be Kate Denver is appalled by her fiancé's over-the-top reaction to the innocent mistake and calls off the wedding―for good. Guilt-ridden, Brett's desperate to get them back on track. But the more time he spends with Kate, the harder he falls...and the more he yearns to prove that he's her true match in every way.

My Thoughts

The heart wants what the heart wants and to Bret Tucker's mortification, not to mention his guilty conscience, his wants Kate Denver.

The young woman whose wedding to her childhood companion Frank Foster was irrevocably ruined when Brett burst into the church that day stopping the pair from getting married, at that time anyway.

Now after a lot more thinking it over Kate comes to realize that maybe the accident on Brett's part was perhaps more fortuitous than not. Especially when she remembers all the times ex-fiancee Frank let the ugly green monster loose when any other man so much as glanced at Kate in passing.

After all a lifetime of such behavior would be hard to live with, and that was just one of the things Kate had overlooked in favor of her suitor. The others were not quite as serious but still worrisome upon further reflection.

Filled with a lot of interaction with the townspeople of Haywire Texas, when you read the parts describing it's setup the name will make sense, this book not only our heroine who is an innovative candy lady but one of the cutest little boys in town as well.

The robberies that have brought Brett to town are given lots of page time but the relationships between Brett, Frank and Kate are explored are given plenty as well.

This was a rousing start to the new series by author Margaret Brownley and look forward to what comes next in the town of Haywire!

So the story is set in 1885 in America. As you may know (or not), I usually read Historical Romances that are often set in England, so I am not quite familiar with things in that time over the Ocean. Personally, I thought this book was quite modern for the time, because people used colt, were working in a candy shop and used the telegraph. Again, I have no clue (almost) with American history, because when I was in school I learned about European history of that time so if these things were normal, please ignore all this paragraph.

I truly enjoyed this story. The first chapter made me laugh and at that moment I knew I would like this book. When Brett broke up a wedding, he tried to do anything in his power to make ”the lovebirds” a couple again. But trying to teach Frank how to woo a bride is not easy…

…but it sure was hilarious to read! The poor fella didn’t have a clue of romancing women and his responses were delightful! Of course, after getting to know Kate, Brett wants her for himself but he’s not sure if Kate feels the same…

I recommend this book to anyone who likes history, mystery, action and romance. Although there was one quite romantic kiss, I would label this book as a clean one.

4,5 stars.

I kept waiting for letter passing with do you like me check yes or no. This book just felt childish. I liked the idea behind it, but Frank was too dimwitted.

I don't usually like storylines that are so why in the past and this western-like is a first for me. I liked the blur and I was positively surprised and satisfied with the book. Texas ranger Brett is so eager to find a heavy criminal that he interrupts the wrong wedding by mistake. Because he wants to make amend he try to make up the bride and husband to be and in the meantime to find the criminals. In all the time of finding the criminals, Kate, unfortunately, bride catch his heart. But he doesn't see that Kate fall for him to, and leaves after the job is finished. I liked both Kate and Brett they are both likable and interesting. The storyline is strong from time to time funny, full of suspense and mystery in finding a criminal and had me kept on the edge until the criminals were found.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

It has been some time since I've read a Margaret Brownley novel, and I was immediately reminded of why I so enjoy them - her signature combination of sweet romance, old west adventure, and gentle humor.

Though not many begin with a Texas Ranger crashing the wedding of a candy maker, mistaking the groom for an outlaw, it is the Cyrano-like efforts to mend the damage he does that sets it apart from other sweet historical western romances.  As Ranger Brett Tucker takes on the task of making one Frank Foster into the type of man Kate Denver can fall back in love with while simultaneously working to apprehend the criminal Frank Foster who he believes is now part of a gang terrorizing Kate's town of Haywire.

Now, it isn't without it's problems.  While Kate excuses much of Frank's behavior based on their childhood friendship and shared experience of the orphan trains and the efforts to make over Frank may be well intentioned, but this did nothing to stop the red flags that his jealousy and anger issues raise.  Aside from this, though, definitely a fun premise and story.

If you enjoy sweet historical western romances with a touch of humor, with  well meaning Texas Rangers who don't stop until the get their man, and their woman, then you might give this one a go.  It releases September 4th, so in the meantime, definitely check out other titles by Margaret Brownley as well.

Started out with a bang! I really got sucked into this one quickly. It was a fun book, enjoyed the old west setting. Likable characters and fun plot. I always enjoy Ms. Brownley's books, I love that she always adds a little wit and laughter to her stories.

Side note: After finishing I went back and checked and there were over 30 "OMG" type cursing in the book. While I personally would prefer none at all, I realize it is still sometimes used. But thirty seemed like an awful lot. I normally don't even notice it in books, but it really stood out in this one because to the sheer number of them.

Cowboy Charm School by Margaret Brownley is book 1 in her new series “The Haywire Brides”. A clean, light and airy adventure. Set in 1855 Haywire, Texas. This is the story of Texas Ranger Brett Tucker, Kate Denver and Frank Foster and a calamity of errors. Laugh at loud moments, mystery, a bit of suspense and romance will pull readers into this delightful romance and hold them glued to the pages. The characters are charming, humorous and engaging. The storyline is unpredictable, steady paced, adventurous, mysterious and definitely unpredictable. An enjoyable and lively new series from the talented Margaret Brownley. A definite keeper and must read for fans of clean, sweet, Western Historical romance set in a small town in Texas. Lighthearted and heartwarming with a twist of fate. #NetGalley,#TheCowboyCharmSchool

Cute, simple story. The romance was a little lacking but still an overall enjoyable read. The mystery plot was very entertaining and I was surprised by the perpetrator. I would give this author another try.

Cowboy Charm School. new series “Haywire Brides” by Margaret Brownley set in 1885. Brett as a Texas Ranger trying to stop a wedding, a hilarious way to start a story. His busting into the church, ended the wedding and maybe even his career. It is no wonder why he hates wedding. Fate has other ideas, as he tries to correct his mistakes. The author always has stories that have a sense of humor in them, and this definitely does. Brett is getting in deeper the more time he spends in town. Readers will want to start this new series, and enjoy the laughs that come with it. Given ARC by Net Galley and Kensington for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

This is a fun, whimsical story. Brett rushes into a church to stop a wedding and apprehend a criminal. He stops the wedding but, it is the wrong man. He feels bad because the bride to be breaks up with the groom. He continues to try to find the criminal he is after and to help get the bride and groom back together. The more he tries to help, the more he falls in love with Kate. Can he get past the guilt he feels for breaking them up and tell her he loves her or will he lose the person who means everything to him. This is a sweet and funny read with loveable characters. I would definitely recommend this book.

This was really good! Considering it was set I the old Western days I didn't think I would enjoy, but I did!! Great way to keep the reader intrigued is by keeping them on their toes and this book did it to me. Can't wait to read more!

Brett rushes to the church, trying to stop a crook's wedding. He stopped the wedding, but turns out it is the wrong man. Oops. Kate at first is upset about her wedding being stopped, but later becomes glad as she soon gets attached to Texas Ranger Brett. A fun story, with a lot of laughs. Highly recommend this story, and another hit by a great author.
