A good book. Well written with great characters and a good plot. The storyline flows and the mystery is enjoyable. I highly recommend.,

I think I'm in the minority with this one. I didn't like the main character at all. I really tried to push through it, since there were so many high ratings, but it was a chore for me. Perhaps a case of.... it's not you, it's me?

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book, which I voluntarily chose to review.

I enjoyed this first book of the series. I liked the fact that the strong central character was a woman, but I felt the western men were depicted as much too sympathetic to women in general and this woman in particular. I picture train robbers who have killed people as less than heroes and thought their depiction was not accurate for the time or the setting. Sexual tension between the characters was nice for the story but again I felt this was not how they would have behaved in the actual time period or situation. Having said that, I do look forward to the next book in this series though.

Wyoming 1868 and Pinkerton Detective Abigail MacKay is trying to find a team of train robbers called The Innocents. But it is the leaders of this gang - Nat Quinn and Jake Conroy - who save her from dying, and so a temporary alliance is formed when they try and discover two missing women.
An enjoyable mystery, which was well written and with really likeable characters. Really looking forward to the next in the series, a great start to the series.

I haven't read a Wild West book for many years (even though I love western films), but this book manages to invoke the lawlessness, guns, murderers and train robberies all in one fell swoop. Great characters with a female Pinkerton detective (Abigail) chasing a couple of train robbers (Nat and Jake) who turn out to be warm and caring characters. These three end up trying to solve the murder of a couple of bordello type ladies - a plot which is not so outrageous.. The author spends plenty of time ensuring that the three of them could and should work together. Plenty of humour, and the author got me very early on by using the word 'hirsute'. I am not going to spoil the end as a part 2 book is to come. If so, I am looking forward to that!

I don't normally read Westerns, this is absolutely incredible! Could not put it down, was disappointed that it ended! When is the next one coming out! I am in love with a Train Robber, named Nat, who would have ever thought it possible? I am thrilled with this extremely witty story! I have read a couple of very depressing books lately, if I had only known, I would have picked this up two days ago. I read it today, I can just see this on BBC! Thank you Netgalley, for allowing me to read this book early! I will pre order it, however, I want the Next one Now! Two sexy anti heroes, are the best men in town! Jake, and Nat, trailing them, is one of the first ladies, to be a Pinkerton Dectective! I absolutely love it!
I highly Recommend! Thanks! Enjoy!
