Built to last is the final book of the series and it did not disappoint. This book was amazing. The characters were great and the main couple we're fantastic together.

Built to Last is the final book in the Black Knights current series. And it finished with a spectacular ending. As all the books in this series, it was filled with action, adventure, humor, steamy scenes and most importantly, hot alpha men. Angel has been a mystery since his introduction. Being able to really “meet” this character has been a long standing wish of mine. I was not disappointed. I refuse to put spoilers in my reviews so I will just leave it with….. you won’t be disappointed with this story either.

I have loved this series , and even though this one was not my favorite story , the guys at BKI will be missed.
The book centers around Angel Agassi and Sonya Butler .
Angel had to changed his look and identity but never forgot his love for Sonya. The one he left when he chose country over love.
It’s an engaging story filled with suspense, danger and lots of bad guys. But it’s also a story about second chances in love . We get the opportunity to visit with the rest of the BKI men and women we came to love .
Thank you Ms Walker so such a great series.

Angel, the lead male character in the story has had so many identities it is hard to keep track. He has given up his personal life to work for his country. In doing so he has given up Sonya, the love of his life. Sonya has been blackmailed into working for a king of the underworld when they come into contact again. Angel has had extensive plastic surgery and is unrecognizable, but there is something there that Sonya senses.

I had trouble connecting with Angel and Sonya as a second chance couple. Angel claims to have never stopped loving Sonya but that hasn’t stopped him from sleeping with countless women along the way over the time they have been separated. Also with all the bad things he has had to do for his job he has the nerve to judge Sonya because she is working for an underworld crime boss. I have liked books by this author in the past, I just had trouble with these two characters which is my reason for the 3* review. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

In Built to Last, the 12th and final installment in Julie Anne Walker’s, Black Knights Inc. series we get not only Sonya and Angel’s story but a summation of where everyone else ends up as well. This book can be read by itself but the reader will get a lot more out of it if they’ve read the series. Having read only three or four of the series, I sometimes felt a little lost with the supporting characters.

Sonya has never gotten over her first and only great love, Mark. She’s spent 10 years mourning him and reliving watching him be murdered. Angel’s had his entire appearance changed and his voice altered to erase any clue to his original identity. Both find themselves deep undercover in the operation of the notorious “Spider”.

Angel immediately recognizes his one true love when their paths cross again but he too easily believes her cover story which includes losing her career protecting a lover. He’s hurt that she doesn’t appear to have mourned him the way he did her. He’s angry and disinclined to get close to her again at first but soon decides he wants her but wants her to love the man he’s become, not just the man he was.

Sonya has no reason to think Angel is her lost love Mark but she sees similarities. It can’t be him though, can it?

The two are working hard, separately, to bring down one of the world’s worse criminal masterminds. Not an easy task. Soon the two are on the run and falling back together because, of course, no great love will ever be denied!

It was also good to get more of the story between Rusty and Ace. A frightening tragedy finally brings them together in a touching way.

Walker’s writing is full of great characters and well-timed suspense and I really like the clever phrases she comes up with. The book and what I’ve read of the series are solid, enjoyable choices to add to your “to be read” list.

For the last book in this series I'm a bit underwhelmed with this one. I really had a hard time buying into the attraction/relationship between Sonya and Angel. Part of that is I find it hard to believe that Mark would walk away from the woman he loved to go into an undercover mission that he expected to die in. Another part that I had issue with is how after he lives he never sought out Sonya when he was finally free, yet when he encountered her now he was all in again. That seems at odds.

I was glad that the guys caught the Spider, loved how the whole crew took him down. I feel like Ace and Rusty got shorted on their romance. I was actually more interested in how things ended up with them, happy to see how things worked out for them. Rusty's parents were so funny!

But even with my issues, I liked how this one ended. I look forward to reading the spin off series and to see our characters mentor a new bunch.

Another fast paced, action packed, BKI adventure that will leave you up late reading and, of course swooning. This book is the perfect wrap up to an overall well crafted series. Julie Ann's quick wit comes through in her well formed characters and dialogue. Her timing and plot twists keep you on your toes and drags out the suspense, and sexual tension, to the perfect climax. While the BKI series may be over, this series leaves you excited for what will come next. I look forward to reading whatever Julie Ann Walker puts in front of me.

I got the ARC of this from the author . Angel wasn’t somebody I had emotional connection as he only appeared in the last 2 books but I did like the book.
I did have trouble with the fact that Angel did tell the truth to Shonya even after she keeps talking about Mark. I also had trouble with the fact that they were both so stuck in the past when they were so young and had been together for only a few weeks.
I did like the secondary romance between Ace and Rusty . It was great to see Ozzie back in the field . I am disappointed that the series is ending but hope the arrival of 6 new guys means there will be a spin off

Sonya has been sucked into the dark, murky underbelly of the Spider. Once a shining star with Interpol, she now acts as Spider's arm candy and assistant. She is rocked to the core when the mannerisms of the newest "recruit" in Spider's web of blackmailed minions reminds her of her lost love. But Mark is dead and has been for a decade.

Angel Jamin has inserted himself into Spider's inner sanctum as part of the operation by BKI. He is unsure as to whether Sonya has actually gone to the dark side or if like his cover story she has been blackmailed. As the story moves from the UK to the Middle East and beyond, Angel and Sonya grow closer but Angel is never just himself around her, because then he would have to reveal that he was Mark and that he was "killed" in order to undertake a long term mission.

What a superb finale to the series! Mark/Angel is so conflicted - he wants to reveal himself but knows Sonya will hate him. He also wants her to love him for who he is now rather than the rose coloured memories of Mark. All my loose ends were tidied away and I truly enjoyed seeing Ace and Rusty interact and their love/hate in/out the closet relationship sizzle away.

I really want more from this series cos I love it so much but who knows what the future can bring??

The last book in the Black Knights, Inc. series starts off with a bang and never lets up. This is Angel's story. Angel has a mysterious past and accepts a mission to take down their nemesis Spider. Sonya a former Interpol agent is working for Spider and Angel will need to get her out safely if she is being held against her will. What is it about Angel that is so familiar to Sonya? Will the rest of the Black Knights find Angel and Sonya in time. A great conclusion to this series.

Built to Last, by Julie Ann Walker is an intriguing contemporary action-suspense romance book.

Jamin "Angel" Agassi is determined to help the Black Knights to take down one of the world's worst criminal. During this job, he re-encounters the love of his life, yet he's unrecognizable...since he faked his death and became a new man as a part of his past employment.

Sonya Butler is attracted to Angel and he reminds her of her past love who tragically died years ago. Both Sonya and Angel have plenty of secrets, and they are enticed to act on their mutual attraction. However, they are in the middle of a serious and suspenseful job.

Since it's the twelfth book in the Black Knights Inc series, it's recommended to start with the first book to properly understand various references and to previously meet some of the secondary characters. Also, the secondary characters (particularly Ace and Rusty) are quite enticing and further develop this story.

Even though this book reads as a standalone, it's the major conclusion to the incredible and entertaining Black Knights Inc series. So, I recommend reading this series from the beginning, which starts with Hell on Wheels.

Built to Last is geared toward fans of contemporary action-suspense romance stories.

This is another great book in the Black Knights series. I have heard that this is the last book in the series and I hope that is not true as I would like to continue to read this series

Finally, Ms. Walker has given us the highly-anticipated story of the mysterious Angel. Before now we have only gotten brief glimpses of him as he assisted the other Knights' escape from whatever dangerous/seemly impossible situation of the moment.

It was no surprise that Angel (and by extension Sonya) found themselves in an exciting situation that wrapped this series up nicely --- while letting us readers revisit with the whole black Knights crew.

This book resides on my favorite (likely to reread) shelf. Recommend for fans of Romantic Suspense.

A worthy conclusion to the series. I'll miss them, but they've all got their happily ever afters. Even Rusty and Ace <3 <3!

I was so excited to finally get to read Angel's story. But also sad to find out that it is to be the last book in the, Black Knight Inc. books. I can't wait to see what comes next. The bar is set really high with this series. Hopefully the best is yet to come. We'll see.

My heart is breaking that this is the end of the series, but, man! What a way to end it! Five massive stars!!

This book made me so happy. Intensely emotional with enough action to keep the plot moving. Angel's story was all I hoped for. It stands on its own but is also a truly satisfying conclusion to the series. Angel may be my favorite hero of the series but I think I'll need to go back and read them all over again to be sure!

Jamin “Angel” Agassi is a man of many secrets. An operative for the Black Knights Inc., he infiltrates the crime lord Spider’s guarded lair. Angel encounters the one woman he could never forget. Sonya’s presence complicates his mission of bringing the crime syndicate to justice. On the run from the Spider’s hired thugs, Angel decides to act on his second chance with Sonya. Can Angel trust Sonya enough to reveal his true identity? Will he be able to protect her from the Spider’s sinister machinations?
Sonya Butler is an undercover Interpol agent. She is assigned to infiltrate the Spider’s crime ring and collect proof of his crimes. Angel reminds Sonya of her deceased lover. She both fears and desires the shadowy, enigmatic operative. When their missions go AWOL, Sonya agrees to assist Angel in bringing Spider down. They act on their shared attraction while eluding Spider and his thugs. Will Sonya figure out who Angel truly is? Or will the Spider catch them before she gets the chance?
I have been curious about Angel and his elusive background since his introduction. I love how the author drops hints throughout the series about his past. Angel has sacrificed much to keep the world safe from terrorists. I like how he purposely antagonized Spider, refusing to give Spider any middle ground. But what I love most about Angel is his nobility. Instead of acting on their shared attraction, he stopped at the first sign of Sonya’s distraught state. The only gripe I have on Angel is why he never once looked in on Sonya in the ten years they were apart.
Sonya is a smart and diligent woman. I admire her temerity of going undercover to obtain the necessary proof of Spider’s crimes and sins. Sonya did not allow agencies’ differences or jurisdiction to interfere in bringing the evil mastermind to justice. I like how she instead focused on helping Angel rid the world of Spider’s diabolical influence. But what I like the most about Sonya is how she instinctively trusts Angel even though his size often intimidates and frightens her.
BUILT TO LAST is book twelve in Julie Ann Walker’s romantic suspense series, BLACK KNIGHT INC. My only grievance with the book is that I’d prefer Ace and Rusty’s romance to be a novella than a side romance. I feel there could have been more between them than what we got in the book. What I am truly going to miss the most about this series is Ozzie and his love of 80’s music and movie witticisms.
BUILT TO LAST is a suspenseful, second-chance story that shows it is never too late to start again. I am sad to see this fun and action-packed series come to an end. However, I am eager to see what the author has in the works.

Fans of this series will not be disappointed with Built to Last--Angel's story. Not only do we get much more than we expected with his backstory, we get a solid HEA with Sonya. The secondary plot line with Ace and Rusty shows that Walker is at the top of her game with this installment. Walker has done what few authors can with a long series--leave fans satisfied and wanting more!

No..... this series can't end!!!! This is a great series and this final book did not disappoint. If you haven't read this series yet - do it - NOW. Action, romance .... just the right mix of both to keep you reading. Once you start, you can't (nor will you want to) put the book down until you have finished it.
