BOOK BLURB

This city boy has it all figured out...
Until he goes toe-to-toe with a fierce cowgirl
who's snagged the home field advantage.

Holiday, Texas is known far and wide as the most celebratory town in the South--and no shindig is complete without one of its founding members. It's a real shame the last remaining Holiday is a city slicker, but what's that old saying about putting lipstick on a pig...?

Beck has no intention of being charmed by some crazy Texas town, but the minute he lays eyes on his grandfather's old honky tonk--and Charlie Walker, the beautiful cowgirl who runs it--he finds himself wishing things could be different. Life's gentler in Holiday. Slower. More real than anything he's ever known. And when he looks into Charlie's eyes, Beck may finally discover what it's like to truly belong.

Cowboy Christmas Jubilee (Book 2)

My Thoughts

New-to-me author Dylann Crush takes the reader to the small town of Holiday, Texas. Home of a landmark honky tonk, known as The Rose, that keeps the town on the map as a tourist attraction but also is the main source of fun for locals as well.

Beck Holiday finds himself the sole heir of his grandfather Sully upon the old man's death. A man he has never met and whom his father had always spoken negatively of when he talked about his Dad.

A New Yorker through and through Beck has no intention of giving up the chance for his future that he has worked toward for years to make his home in a backwater Texas town.

Funny thing how easily, albeit rather abruptly, those plans changed and were replaced with a new dream.

Charlie Walker once dreamed of traveling the world, that is until the one trip she took with friends resulted in a lifetime of guilt for ever having left her home town for even a few hours.

Now Charlie is the Girl Friday/Manager for Sully's Honky Tonk. A position she has grown to love in the past 8 years, almost as much as she loved the old man who gave her a reason to continue living when she was at her most low.

With Sully gone and his beloved Rose no longer her sole domain Charlie fights tooth and nail to make Beck understand it is more than just a bar. That Holiday Texas and those who live there depend on the livelihood The Rose provides and without their main attraction the town would be in jeopardy.

Beck Holiday may be well educated, well traveled, well dressed and well spoken but nothing in his life prepared him for this small Texas town or a woman with a heart as big as the state she calls home.

Small town girl meets big city man and of course sparks fly fast and furious. But will those sparks catch fire or will they fizzle out when the dust settles at the end of the day?

I absolutely LOVED this book! This is a new to me author and based on this book I will be anxiously waiting on more from her. She has a very fluid writing style with some amazing well developed characters. The quirky small town setting is a favorite of mind so this book had that going for it as well. The story has tons of humor, family issues, sexy times, and pigs. Yes, pigs! Beck and Charlie were hilarious together and I loved how Beck handles everything and for a big city guy it was a lot. Bottom line - don's miss this laugh out loud hilarious yet heartwarming story. I highly recommend it.

City meets Country in this light and frolicking new series about a small town in Texas and its unique and legendary Honky Tonk bar by new to me author. Quirky folk, city guy disasters, secret clauses in a will, and an old legendary place had a bit of magic for a hot summer afternoon of reading.
Review

All-American Cowboy was one that offered me few surprises. I read the blurb, loved the idea of a new cowboy romance, some humor and misunderstanding, and that was pretty much what I got. It hit me just right with the sunny and sassy writing style, plot, and colorful characters. There was enough depth due to Charlie’s past grief and Beck’s big choice about the old Rambling Rose and his family’s past pain and legacy.

As can be expected when a corporation guy from Manhattan hits ranching town Texas, there was lots of humor. I felt sorry for the poor guy because nobody went easy on him through the adjustment. There were lots of fireworks, too, because Charlie isn’t about to let city dude waltz into town and mess with Sully’s legacy, The Rambling Rose. She rides Beck hard at first thinking he ignored his granddad and only has cold cash inside instead of a heart, but learns things aren’t always what they appear. Just like Beck is hearing about his family legacy and his grandfather in positive terms for the first time and struggles because his hard-nosed father rides him constantly and there is a part of him that keeps trying to make a connection with the man.

I saw where several little secrets and misunderstandings were going to come back and bite them both in the tush and it was just a matter of waiting it out to see when the storm broke. Oh man! And, how!

Incidentally, the pig is the real main character of the story. Sooo cute!

All in all, it was adorable and fun, big-family/small town, and some sassy romancing just the way I like. I will definitely be dropping in for the next installment in the Holiday, Texas series and heartily recommend this to those who love light and slightly spicy contemporary cowboy romance.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great cowboy story. I loved it, read it very quickly. A book I didn't want yo put down. Beck and Charlie's relationship was rocky and watching it become steady and grow was entertaining. I definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more.

I LOVED this book! It's sweet, cute, so funny, has a great small town setting, big loving family you wish you were part of or at least knew, a strong, sassy heroine and sweet, sexy hero...this book seriously has it all!

In All-American Cowboy we're introduced the town of Texas, Holiday. Home of the Rambling Rose. A honky tonk ran by Charlie Walker. After the owner dies his big city grandson, Beck Holiday is called to town to inherit the Rambling Rose. With a few stipulations of course. Some that may involve a pig named Baby Back.

As soon as I finished this book I immediately went to see if the next book was about the character I was hoping it would be. I actually squealed when I learned that not only it was but it's also a Christmas book!! Now I'm just devastated I have to wait so long to read it. 😭

***(Will add review to Amazon when that option is available. Thanks so much for allowing me to read and review this great book!)

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

ALL-AMERICAN COWBOY (Holiday, Texas #1) is Dylann Crush’s debut romance novel. The novel is due out on July 3rd 2018 by Sourcebooks Casablanca.

Charlotte “Charlie” Walker and Becket Sullivan Holiday the third couldn’t be more different if they tried. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t fall in love. Country girl Charlie was born and raised in the small town if Holiday, Texas. She’s never traveled beyond the state line, and has pretty much dedicated her life to running the local dancehall and being there for her extensive family. City boy Beck grew up as a spoiled, rich kid in Manhattan. When Beck inherits his grandfather’s dancehall, he takes a break from his job at his father’s company and travels to his father’s hometown to learn about his family’s history. Beck also has to figure out what the heck he’s going to do with his grandfather’s dancehall. Charlie has been managing the Rambling Rose Dancehall for eight years now, and she’s more than a little apprehensive when this city slicker comes to town to take over her dancehall. Charlie find herself torn between helping Beck run the Rambling Rose and running him out of town so that she can inherit the dancehall for herself. Charlie also finds herself torn between loving and hating Beck.

Let me start by pointing out that ALL-AMERICAN COWBOY of full of countless handsome, sexy cowboys. And, if that is your thing, then you are definitely in for a treat. Even if handsome, sexy cowboys aren’t your thing (and I seriously wonder what is wrong with you if you don’t have a thing for cowboys), you’re still going to love this contemporary romance novel. Charlie Walker is a sassy, kick-butt leading lady. Her past slowly unfolds throughout the novel, showing why she is ready but also reluctant to not only move on with her love life but with her life in general. Beck starts out as the annoying, arrogant Yankee from New York City, but he’ll grow on the reader just as he grows on Charlie. As Charlie stretches her wings beyond the limited life she has allowed herself since her last relationship, Beck begins to embrace the past and the legacy that his father tried so hard to deny him. Charlie and Beck are both very likable characters, and their relationship develops naturally over a period of a few months. There are misunderstandings and fights just like in any relationship. The supporting cast is also very likable. Charlie’s brothers are her own personal army of protectors, and the rest of the family and townspeople all added to the story and plot. But it’s the Rambling Rose’s mascot – Baby Back the pig – that steals the show! Dylann Crush also brings the Texas Hill Country to life through her descriptions.

ALL-AMERICAN COWBOY is a fun read. The romance between Charlie and Beck is very sweet. There is also a lot of humor in the novel that will have the readers laughing out loud. The scene at the pig beauty pageant had me laughing so hard that I was crying. I’m looking forward to the second book in the Holiday, Texas Series – COWBOY CHRISTMAS JUBILEE.

A sweet contemporary romance between a Texan cowgirl/bar manager and the wealthy New York executive who will inherit the bar IF he fulfills the conditions in his grandfather's will
Rife with humor and steamy scenes between the pair. Family interactions, hers, close and loving, his, cold and distant are woven through so that the reader roots for the couple to win it all.
The description of the bar is so welcoming, that if it was in my neighborhood, I'd visit often....and I only have a glass a few times a year. Between the music, the staff and the patrons, it would be an asset to any neighborhood.
I've never read any of Ms. Crush's work previously, but I have added her to my watch for list. It is a real mood lifter. Any fan of the talent Carolyn Brown will enjoy this book
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC because of the book's description. It more than lived up to it.

If you like slapstick comedy in your romances, you might enjoy this. THe hero, Beck Holiday, is the stereotypical city slicker who has come to the small town of Holiday, Texas after learning that the grandfather he never knew has left him his honky-tonk saloon. There he’s totally out of his element and keeps falling down and suffering other embarrassments. He is also falling for Charlie Walker, the woman who has been running the honky-tonk. She is also attracted to thim because, despite his cluelessness about Texas, he is a very nice and charming guy. She has her own slapstick moments, mostly due to a giant pig.

I didn’t find the slapstick scenes particularly funny. The fish-out-of-water tropes kept going on and on. The quirky characters weren’t all that appealing or funny. It’s not a good sign when I enjoyed the scenes with Charlie’s large family more than I did the scenes between Charlie and Beck. And Beck’s father was just unbelievably evil. I found the book long and rather tedious.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

3.5 stars

"All-American Cowboy" was a cute romance about finding family and a place to call home. Beck works for his father's real estate company and is trying to convince him to give back to the community with a park when they learn that his grandfather has died. His grandfather, Sully, lived in Holiday, Texas (a town named after them) and has left everything to his grandson- if he fulfills some obligations, namely staying in town for a few months to look after the Rambling Rose, a honky-tonk bar, and riding on the float in the parade.

Beck is about to walk when he learns about the net-worth he would inherit- it would be enough to buy the property and build the park in New York, plus whatever other good he would want to do. He just has to contend with the woman who has been running the Rose for the last several years- and survive in rural Texas for a few months.

Charlie has been running the Rose for a long time, and she's not sure about this outsider who Sully has chosen to run the place. Sully was like a second father to her and rescued her when she was at her lowest. However, she wants to honor Sully's wishes and so she'll help him if she must, for Sully's sake. As Charlie and Beck get to know each other, their attraction grows and soon, maybe Beck isn't staying for his inheritance, but also for a spunky cowgirl...

Overall, the romance was cute with bickering turned into more. Beck and Charlie were very likable. However, Beck's father reads like a cartoon villain at times and felt pretty flat. Add that to some events at the end where all is forgiven despite someone being drugged and kidnapped (I don't think that was at all necessary and a little disturbing), and it ended up going from a cute beachy read to something that, for me, was only okay.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I first wanted to read this book based on the cover (if it has a pretty cover, I am so much more likely to pick it up and go in blind). And then, when I started tor read I realized that the cover is not the only good thing about this book. The story? Utterly FANTASTIC. I can't believe this is a debut novel because it is written like a seasoned pro! Now I am anxious for more!

I picked up All-American Cowboy thinking it sounded like a gender-flipped Hart of Dixie. While it's certainly the same kind of fish out of water story, this town is more country than quirky so I didn't quite get that vibe I was looking for.

That said, Beck and Charlie's romance was enjoyable. I love couples who start out as rivals. And I love the whole town being in on the will-they-or-won't-they along with the reader. I liked the supporting characters and can see some of them getting their own books. Charlie's brothers, the single dad and the playboy, certainly would be prime candidates.

I had some moments of disbelief with both Beck and Charlie's characters, though. Is it possible for a 30 year old man with cable TV and internet access not to know what armadillo looks like? Or a woman who runs a restaurant not to know that sushi is fish? Maybe it is. I lived in Texas, so I may not be the best judge of what someone visiting might know. There are other examples of actions that just felt a little off to me for both characters, but I wouldn't call any of them major issues.

I didn't love it, but I thought All-American Cowboy was a fun summer read. I wouldn't mind reading more from this author and this series.

Congratulations Dylann, what a fabulous book! I laughed, I cried and the last few chapters had me totally on edge! I loved every single page and I can’t wait to read more about the Holiday Crew! The characters are believable and well rounded, the book got a certain depth to it and who can resist anything from Texas ;)

Charlie is a take no frills type of lady. Beck has a hard job ahead to win her over. It's worth it in the end though.

Congratulations to Dylann Crush on a fabulous debut novel. All-American Cowboy is everything you want in a contemporary Texas romance which covers the differences between a city slicker and a down home country girl.

Charlie is a tortured heroine running a Texas honkytonk, and trying to survive the painful loss of her longtime beau who was killed fighting for his country. Beck, a New York executive, is forced to work three months at the honkytonk to secure his grandfather’s inheritance. Charlie and Beck are great characters and immediately form a friendship bond, but the real showstopper is Baby Back. Some serious comic relief is provided by way of this adorable pig!

I’m looking forward to Ms Crush’s next addition to what is sure to be a wonderful series, and thank you to NetGalley for approving my request for this advanced copy!

Very cute contemporary set in the small town of Holiday, TX. I have to admit the pig steals the show. I liked Charlie immediately and warmed up to Beck the longer he hung out with the denizens of Holiday and proved he was about more than just the money (even money for a good cause).

I lived in Texas for 23 years so I always enjoy a visit back --even if it is only in a book. Crush does a great job recreating a small down feel and the secondary characters (especially Baby Back) create a rich and rewarding tale that was good all the way to the last page!

Lookin' forward to the next one!
