If you are a fan of Ms. Broday you won’t be disappointed. Third book in her series “Texas Hero’s”. If you haven’t read a Broday novel but enjoy historical western romances you will be a future fan. The book can be a stand alone but I really suggest reading the series in order. Especially since you can read then all at one time. I went back and reread “Knights on the Texas Plains” to remind myself of the history of Duel and Jessie. I enjoyed reading both. I hope we get to read more of this family.

I have been looking forward to Marley Rose's story since being introduced to her in the first book in the series. I really enjoyed the storyline, but I don't think the writing was as good as Broday's other books that I have read. There were parts of the book that reminded me of authors with much fewer books under their belts. But having said that, I still really enjoyed the story.

When Marley Rose finds an injured man on the side of the road, she brings him home to care for him. With all the kids in her parent's home, there is no where else to place the man but in her own home even if it is not the most proper thing to do.

Roan has been beaten up by a group wanting the land that his friend owns. So after killing the friend and burning down the house, they try to teach Roan a lesson. They didn't count on him living and trying to seek justice, which is exactly what he will do once he has recovered enough.

Of course, Marley being Marley, she decides it is best to help Roan. They are falling for each other and she isn't about to let him fight for justice on his own. They end up finding themselves in some hot water and a little in over their heads. With the help of Marley's family, can Roan find the justice that he is looking for and the HEA he didn't think he deserved?

To Catch a Texas Star is the third instalment in Linda Broday’s Texas Heroes series. I haven’t read the previous entry in the series, but this didn’t end up being a problem for me as the author has crafted a story that stands perfectly well on its own.
Roan Penny has drifted from place to place since his bank robber father abandoned him. When his friend and employer is killed, and Roan is badly injured by a masked gang Roan is hellbent on revenge.
Marley Rose McClain discovers a badly beaten, nearly dead Roan on side of the road and brings him home to see to his wounds. Marley struggles to find herself in her loud, loving family that continues to grow as more strays arrive. Finding a purpose in caring for Roan she is reluctant to see him leave.
With cattle rustlers terrorizing the Aces and Eights Ranch, could Roan’s enemies be closer to him than he thinks?
Linda Broday excels at creating a realistic setting. The wild wet was a scary and dangerous place and Ms Broday does not shy away from the gruesome realities that existed for the people of that time. The characters are well developed and engaging, the dialogue is witty, and the plot is intriguing. The relationship is a slow build with a perfect blend of angst and passion. I would recommend this book.

To Catch a Texas Star, reads like the sequel to, Knight on the Texas Plains. Marley Rose, is a toddler in, Knight on the Texas Plains. In, To Catch a Texas Star, she is all grown up and ready to find out what her life is going to lead her. Right to Roan, that's where. Not only do we get to read about the budding love between Roan and Marley, while they fight to stay alive. We also get to see what has happens to Duel and Jessie's family and relationship. They play a large part in this book. So it is my suggestion to read, Knight on the Texas Plains, before reading this book.

I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review and all opinions are my own. Marley stumbles on a man who was half beaten to death and dragged by a horse. Marley longs for a purpose in her life and this man has given it to her. Roan can't let men take everything from him and not expect to return to finish the job. Marley and Roan enter on a journey that brings them together and realize their revenge awaits the same person.

Welcome to the final chapter of Linda Broday’s Texas Hero series. Each book has been a joy to read and review. My favorite of these three to date was Knight of the Texas Plains. So I was delighted to realize TO CATCH A TEXAS STAR reunited me with two of my favorite characters. Jessie and Duel – who we meet in Knight of the Texas Plains. Actually we met one of the lead characters of CATCH A TEXAS STAR in the previous story. TO CATCH A TEXAS STAR is the story of Marley Rose McClain and Roan Perry.

The old west was a rough and tumble environment to manage living in and actually having a family and possessions. There was always someone looking to take what was yours by any means available. Women were often treated poorly – as possessions. Certainly worse than a prized horse. Young men were at the mercy of the grownups raising them. If they were lucky to have a loving home than they stood a better chance of becoming gentlemen. If not then their road was dicey at best.

Roan understood that better than most. Lost his mother when he was young. His father had no idea what to do with a son and so he was treated poorly and then given to an older woman to care for. That was the first lucky break Roan had ever had. He had been so much better off with old Widow Harper.
As a grown man Roan was once again witness to the worst of humanity. When his friend Mose was killed and Roan was basically dragged and left for dead Roan was pretty certain his life was over. Over before he was ever to show his father that he had been wrong – Roan was worth something. He just hadn’t found a life or home. But as long as you are breathing there is always hope.
Hope for Roan came in the pretty package of Marley Rose. The McClain’s have been taking in kids and people for years. Marley was well taught how to take care of illnesses and hurts. But even so Marley was unprepared for the horrid condition Roan was in when she found him.

On the McClain ranch Aces n Eights kindness was the motto. After Roan mended from his injuries it was time to take revenge on those that murdered his friend Mose. But something happened to Roan during his time on the ranch. Marley. How he wished he could ever be good enough for this sweet, strong, bright woman.
During the formative years in the west there were plenty of opportunities for people to adjust to civilization and become proper members of society. Unfortunately the folks that Roan and Marley were to find were not. Someone was rustling McClain cattle. Someone had Marley in their sights. Each day seemed to be met with another challenge.
Linda Broday likes to showcase characters in her stories and TO CATCH A TEXAS STAR is no surprise in that there is a huge cast. TO CATCH A TEXAS STAR brings a satisfying end to this series which was truly enjoyable from beginning to end. Each does stand-alone but they all are so special in their own way.

"Maybe her need to fix this stranger was because she had been the one to find him, and that made this connection so strong. All Marley knew was that she had to be the one to care for him."

I absolutely love historical western romances, and have read many of them over the years. I became a fan of Linda Broday's writing and story-telling after reading the first two books in the Texas Heroes series. So I didn't hesitate when I had the opportunity to read To Catch a Texas Star. This book focuses on Marley Rose, who was introduced in Knight on the Texas Plains as the baby that was won by Duel in a poker game. I loved her in that book, so I was really excited when I found out that this book was about her. She was raised by amazing parents (Duel and Jessie), and I was glad that they played an important role in this book as well. It was great to be reunited with them, and see what they had been up to.

"You're like those shooting stars we watched. You blaze across a man's life with such a streak of color and pageantry it steals his breath. You're my Texas star, Marley Rose McClain."

The other main character is Roan Penny. I loved him from the start and knew he would be a great hero. I enjoyed seeing the connection between him and Marley develop. It was beautiful seeing how these two got along, and how they inspired each other. This book was so much more than just a romance. It was fun, suspenseful, emotional and action-packed. There was even a bit of mystery the characters were trying to figure out. Everything came together perfectly and I think this book was a great way to conclude this awesome series. This book is longer than what I usually read, but it didn't feel long at all. The author used every page resourcefully and made sure that the reader was engaged and hooked until the end.

I loved this fast-paced action packed love story. The characters were engaging, the love between Roan and Marley Rose, sweet and steamy. This author knows how to pull you into the story from the beginning to the end and to make you care about her characters and look forward to reading more.
I received this book through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

To Catch a Texas Star was a heartfelt read. It was the first book that I have read by this author but, it definitely won't be the last. This was a story about Roan and Marley and how they found their home with each other. Roan came from a hard past that made him doubt his worth. Marley had a loving close family who had always been there for her. Together they found everything that they wanted and needed in each other. Their's was a long hard journey to happiness but, that only made it that much more special in the end. I would definitely recommend this hearfelt story.

Good story. I really liked Roan and Marley very much, and Matt was super sweet. Granny added a bit of fun to the story as well. The only thing was I got to the point where I was ready for them to wrap things up. It seemed to drag a bit with the bad guy. Other than that it was a sweet story.
