I cannot tell you how excited I was to discover Rebecca Zanetti’s return to the Dark Protector series. Though she kept one toe in the pool with her Realm Enforcers spinoff, those books never quite had the same magic for me as the original series. This one absolutely does. It completely re-captured the magic of those early books and I felt like I never left.

I knew from the blurb that the hero would be a Karys, but what I didn’t know was how he would fit in with the family I knew and loved from the previous books. Would this be a prequel? Were we jumping forward in time? I knew I had never heard of a character named Ronan before. Turns out, it’s the best scenario of all. This book pics up about seven years after the last Dark Protectors book. Ronan is an ancestor of Dage– long dead to most of the world, his existence almost erased.

Ronan has been hanging out in another dimension for the past several hundred years. He was there to prevent the escape of a super powerful bad guy that could not be killed. He is one of the Seven tasked to this mission. Men who formed a bond of blood, bone, and brotherhood to protect the world. Only now, he has been kicked back to his home world and fears it is only a matter of time before his prisoner comes back as well.

Faith is the doctor who is destined to be his mate. Her special gift is that she can talk to people who are in a coma. You would think that would be more useful with her sister Grace actually in a coma, but it seems Faith can talk to everyone except for her. Anyway, Grace is the only family that Faith has and it is her life’s mission to take care of her sister. I get that, I really do, but some of the things Faith does in order to reach that goal pushed her to the boundaries of Too Stupid To Live. This woman is a scientist. She is supposed to be smart. But she makes some really dumb decisions by leading with her heart. Like, really dumb.

The story follows Ronan as he tries to rebuild his band of brothers while keeping Faith safe from the current Kurjans who are trying to get to her. Ronan absorbs information, technology, and modern culture at a thousand times the speed of light, which strains credibility even in a world with demons, vampires, witches and God knows what else. But despite that and my beef with Faith’s questionable decisions, I ate this book up with a spoon. Yes, Ronan skirts the line a little with my ability to tolerate alpha heroes who spank their heroine to teach them a lesson. But by and large, he such a good leading man. He tries to be patient. He protects her. He tries to protect her sister. And goodness knows, the man has sacrificed so much for the good of the world.

Garrett and Logan are here and I believe they are going to play a big part in the series moving forward. But so is Janie’s daughter, Hope. She is only a child, but she is meeting a Kurjan boy in a dream world just like her parents did. Some people might take issue with how familiar this may feel, but I adored it. I want to see that magic happen all over again. And I have no doubt that Zanetti will deliver it.

Like I said, reading this book brought me right back into the fold of a series I was so sad to lose. And it is just the right blend of fresh and familiar. I know these books are a little pricey, but they are totally worth it. Can’t wait to see where the series goes next. I hope every single member of the seven has his own installment. Fingers crossed.

Rating: B+

This was a book I enjoyed. I have not read any of the others in this series and you don't have to enjoy this book. Faith is a very stubborn woman, who is also very smart and I think that hinders her in some ways. Ronan is also very stubborn and also out of his time. This two butt heads a lot in this book but I think it's good for both of them. I look forward to more books in this series and to see what happens with the Seven and the War coming up.

First of all I love this series. I wasn’t sure where this was going to go. But it’s like a whole New World is being introduced to us. I love that Faith isn’t taking everything at face value and questions everything Ronan says to her. She is a scientist, and she believes in facts and so far all she has is his word about what is going on. Ronan has been girding evil in a another dimension for many centuries and when It falls apart and he finds himself in this new time everything is different to him. And then he sees her face, his mare who he has been dreaming of in his other world for years. I cannot wait to see the next book in this series to see what’s going to happen with some of the characters that were introduced in this book. Four stars all the way

I'm so ecstatic that we get to dive back into the Dark Protectors world again. I binge read this series last year and had a blast with all the characters and the wild ride this author took us on.

While she could have just ended the series, there were so many possibilities for it to be picked back up. I love that she choose to do that...or maybe that was her plan all along. Either way, I'm very happy to see more of all my favorite characters.

In Vampire's Faith we get Ronan and Faith's story. I have to admit, I was racking my brain trying to remember who Ronan was even though I just read this series not long ago. I know all the Kayrs so why can't I remember him??? Well, that's because his identity was kept secret so don't fret if you can't remember him either.

I won't give too much away here but you learn where Ronan's been and why he's just now coming into the story. Just know he's 100% pure alpha these Kayr's males are known to be. Dang! I love that caveman mentality! He had me chuckling quite a bit when Faith tries to bring him up to date to the 21st century.

Faith. Oh Faith. I love a good strong heroine in my stories but sometimes that stubbornness is a bit much. If you have read this series then you are used to that in the leading female characters. If I had to guess, I think this author does this so she can shows us how these protective males go all alpha on their butts, which I have to admit I enjoy very much.

This has so many great new characters as well as seeing a lot of the previous characters. I believe we are gearing up for Hope and Drake with plenty of possibilities in between. I can't wait!

I initially found this author's books after the initial Dark Protectors stories had been published, but I have been addicted to everything she has published in the past few years including the Realm Enforcers and Dark Protectors novellas. So even though this is my first full novel in that world, it was very easy to jump in and read Vampire's Faith as a standalone.

Ronan sacrificed everything when he agreed to be a keystone in the plan to keep the ultimate evil imprisoned, so he never expected to wake up in the 21st century where everything had changed and his fated soul mate was staring him in the face. Of course, Dr. Faith Cooper knows nothing of vampires and doesn’t believe in the concept of soul mates, so Ronan freaks her out more than a little bit. Her mind is wired to believe scientific evidence, and despite seeing the evidence with her own eyes, she still has a very difficult time believing what she is seeing. The off-the-charts attraction she is experiencing is chalked up to a way-too-long dry spell and being presented with one seriously sexy specimen of a male… because that’s all it could be, right?

Ronan’s confusion with the technology of this new world was understandable, and his experiences with Siri, stores, the Internet, and so many other things we take for granted had me giggling as he tried to catch up on hundreds of years of history and advancements. The concept of an independent modern woman boggles him, and it leads to some equally amusing showdowns between him and Faith too as his protective instincts kick into overdrive when she finds herself in danger. The Cyst, a dangerous fanatical sect of a race called the Kurjans, is hunting Ronan to kill him and hasten the release of their leader Ullric who Ronan helped imprison along with six others as a super-secret brotherhood called the Seven. Faith is directly in their crosshairs simply due to her proximity to Ronan, but add in the fact he is convinced she is his mate and the danger level multiplies. The sexy tug of war in their little power struggle heats up quickly, and after a series of frustrating moments, those sparks finally lead to some serious combustion!

I have to admit Faith was a source of frustration to me as well as Ronan. For an intelligent and educated woman, she demonstrated the ability to make the most absolutely stupid decisions possible even after she came to accept the reality of Ronan and the world she previously knew nothing about. Her life has been all about taking care of her younger sister Grace since the death of their parents, and when Grace fell into a coma she dedicated her life to finding a way to help her. Discovering that Grace may be an important part of the future throws her off balance, and saving her sister’s life takes on a whole new level of urgency that drives her to make those questionable choices.

There are plenty of familiar faces for those who love the original Dark Protectors series, and I am loving the new faces introduced as Ronan’s brothers of the Seven as well! Benny, Iver and Adare are intriguing with the promise of fascinating backstories to be revealed. I had to chuckle at the King Dage’s bewilderment that for once he does not know everything, and I am DEFINITELY looking forward to the story arc that Logan and Garrett are now on. Now I really have to go back and read the first set of books in this series while I count down to the release of the next book!

4.5 - "Forget everything you think you know..." Stars!

We return to the Dark Protectors universe for book 8 in my favorite ever Rebecca Zanetti series. I have to admit I wondered how she would manage to glean more full length books from a series that had already been pretty much been fully explored, but with a unique twist, a little artistic license and a having previously spent a few hundred years spent locked away in a sphere in another realm we are now introduced to Ronan Kayrs.

The guy was sexy on a sexy stick of pure melted sexiness…

I don’t think I have ever made a secret of the fact that this series is my all-time favorite. The read the original books whilst going through a pretty dark time, and they were one of the few highlights of it. Who knew a war between Vampires and Demons could turn into someone’s happy place! But for me, you just have to say the surname Kayrs and it will produce a smile.

"I spent four hundred years seeing your face and feeling your soft touch in my dreams…"

For me this series is also the most consistent from the author when it comes to the quality of writing, characters, and story-lines, and for that reason I did start Vampires Faith with a little trepidation, we all know the phrase; 'flogging a dead horse' and I have to admit I did wonder if this return to the series was based more on keeping milk flowing from a well proven 'cash cow' rather than having anything more relevant to add to what has already been a series that will be hard to top.

He needed to know her better before he could woo her.

I with the premise of this book, the new characters introduced (as well as a few we already know) and the bigger story arc the author has opened there is a high chance that the forthcoming books will offer enjoyable additions, Vampires Faith itself was enjoyable, you get the usual character traits from Rebecca in that Ronan, is deliciously alpha, a little old fashioned, and a lot growly, and as usual Faith is no shy, retiring violet. The secondary characters were developed enough to make you eager for their own personal stores in future books and the introduction of the little known Kurgan-cyst and the plot surrounding their leader is likely to be the mainstay of the backstory for the entirety of the series.

"The foreplay was nice and all that, but you have no claim on me."

There were however some glaring similarities from the original series, in a way that felt like the author is essentially recycling a few tropes that were popular from it, and I have to say that one of my gripes that seems to flare up every couple of books is the characterization of the leading heroine. I find there is a fine line between confidence and independence in a woman, before its steps into dumbass-big-headed-arrogance territory, and we were bordering on that a couple of times with Faith’s behaviour in this book. That-said it wouldn’t have been the story it was if she hadn’t done a few of the things she did, but it’s the reluctance to take responsibility for your fuck-ups that is what mainly grates on this readers nerves.

"You beat here and always will. Everything I am or will ever be is yours…"

All-in-all a really good start. I’m glad to be back in this world, and I am pretty sure that the more this story arc develops the more of the original Kays clan will be included in its telling. I look forward to seeing how things play out in future books.

Vampire’s Faith by Rebecca Zanetti

Paranormal romance. 8th in the series. Can be read as a standalone. I have not read the previous books and enjoyed this book without feeling lost or that I missed pieces.

Enemy vampire races fight for supremacy. Classic good vs. evil with the heroine questioning why based on science and the need to save her coma laden sister.
Destined mates. Some domination tendency with spanking.

It was amusing that so many times they start to have sex, they are interrupted.
And vampires apparently drink a lot of alcohol.
Overall, this brotherhood of vampires struck me as fighting for good and saving the Enhanced females, but only the human doctor cared about the innocent lives in jeopardy. The romantic love took a long time to arrive although the lust factor was off the charts right from the beginning.
I like other series by this author more.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.

Story was a bit predictable, needs more character development as I wasn't really invested in them. It was an ok story line and I believe the author will evolve and progress.

Vampire’s Faith is Rebecca Zanetti latest installment in the Dark Protectors series. Where we find that Ronan Kayrs was one of three destined to hold the ultimate Dark force at bay. However, there was a disruption and one by one the bubbles started to burst.

Ronan Kayrs wasn’t expecting to walk the earth again nor meet his mate. But, Ronan does both. He sacrificed a lot and now he is expected to do it again.
Ronan wants to know, at what cause will he have to go to protect this new world he awoke and to protect the woman that he only known from a dream.
It has been awhile since I read the Dark Protectors. But after reading this book. I was ready to revisit this world from the beginning. This story like the rest of the books in this series didn’t disappoint. Though there were times that the story itself dragged on. But once you passed the character introductions, the story moved right along.

I certainly enjoyed this story, and recommend this book to any old or new fans of the Dark Protector series or to the genre of paranormal romance. The next book in the series Demon’s Mercy comes out January 22, 2019, which is the story about Logan Kyllwood. This is supposed to complete the series. I am hoping that it's not. I want to see the woman that Garret Kayrs will fall for.

I am a huge fan of the Dark Protectors series so I was really excited to see another book in this series since I had thought it was finished. This book starts a new phase in the series with characters we've never met before although thankfully Logan and Garrett are in this one which saved this book for me.

Honestly, the first part of this book was a solid 4 stars leaning towards five. I loved the beginning when Ronan first wakes up from his coma. Faith is a neurosurgeon brought in on his case and he knows she's his mate because he's been dreaming about her. Ronan must convince Faith that author species exist, she's his mate, and that he's the good guy trying to keep her safe. Ronan has been confined in a parallel universe for centuries as a guardian against an indestructible being who has the ability to kill all enhanced women. When he wakes up he's in a modern world that he knows nothing about. I loved watching him discover the new world and that part was really funny and engaging. There was some obvious chemistry between Ronan and Faith but on the whole neither of those characters really resonated with me. Roman was just a bit too Alpha (giving orders that he expected to be followed and because he came from a time where women really didn't have independence/rights he was even more of a jerk at times). Faith was just TSTL. For an intelligent neurosurgeon she made some really stupid decisions. She rarely took the time to think through things but would rush into dangerous situations with no regard to anyone else she was putting in danger. In fact she is directly responsible for a lot of destruction and almost getting Garrett killed and yet no one calls her on this.

Hope (Janie and Zane's daughter) is also in this book but her story is exactly the same as Janie's was. Maybe it's supposed to feel like a full circle thing but to me it was just repetition since I've read this plot before.

So unfortunately for me I was a bit disappointed in this book. I wasn't a big fan of the new characters and the heroine's stupidity drove me crazy. I did love the scenes with Garrett and Logan and hope they are in the next books a bit more. This arc of the series will be about the seven and if I had to guess the next book will either be Faith's sister and Adare or Ivar and the physicist.

Vampire’s Faith is the eighth book in the Dark Protectors series, but is really the first book in it’s own series, also set in the Dark Protectors world. Ronan Kayrs was sacrificed to live in an alternate dimension that was supposed to last for an eternity. His sacrifice was part of a key that would hold the ultimate enemy. When Ronan wakes in a hospital, he realizes his part of the containment has collapsed, and that evil is closer to being released back into this world. However, there is a bright side for Ronan. When he awakes he also sets sight on the woman he has been dreaming of for centuries, his mate Dr. Faith Cooper.

The Dark Protectors series is my favorite of Rebecca Zanetti’s. It uses the time honored theme of good vs evil, but with a paranormal twist. Vampire’s Faith adds another twist in that Ronan is a King from centuries ago. His brothers descendants are the current time Kayrs family who rules their vampire nation and are the heroes of the earlier books in this series. A clever way to tie the stories together and keep this thrilling series alive.

I had a really easy time enjoying Ronan. When he entered the story he was kind of goofy, after all he was dropped into current technology, clothing, etc. He was charming and self deprecating as he wooed his mate. As the story moved forward, he became more demanding and reverted to the “I am male therefore you should listen to me” ways of the past. Luckily Faith was not going along with his program. It made for a tension filled love story where both of their eyes were being opened to unusual things and they had to rely on each other to be their anchor in an unfamiliar world. The highlight was that the attraction between the two was sizzling and their passion jumped off the pages.

Where I felt the story slow down was when the Kurjans and Cyst were bigger players in a scene. I guess I needed a little more back story for this hidden sect that showed up all of a sudden as the big evil was closer to being released. I’m sure their part in this story will get fleshed out a little more in the next novel, which looks to be a good one. The story set up nicely at the end of this book to tantalize the reader.

If you love paranormal romances this series is great. You can start with book #8 and jump right in, but to get a better picture of this world start at the beginning with Fated. It’s one of my favorites in the series.

I am a Hugeee Rebecca Zanetti fan and love her Dark Protector's series. So when I saw that Vampire's Faith was a spinoff of that I could not jump on this fast enough. I really enjoyed Faith and Ronan's chemistry and could not get enough!

When Dr. Faith Cooper and Vampire Ronan Kayrs meet it is nothing short of explosive. Their chemistry is fiery and I loved their banter. Ronan was protective, so alpha and strong and yet he had a soft spot for Faith. Similarly I loved that Faith was sassy, courageous and the perfect spitfire to Ronan. The storyline was compelling and I look forward to more in this series in the future!

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. ~Ratula, 4 stars!

Vampire’s Faith is the 8th volume in the Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti. The author began this series (and her writing career) in 2011 and to this day it’s the one for which the readers know her the most.

I must say that for me there was a big mix-up on this title LOL Indeed, on Netgalley Rebecca is one of the few authors I’m always looking for new releases available in ARCs. When I saw the title, I jumped on it thinking it was the sequel on her Realm Enforcers series (spinoff of Dark Protectors). I should have checked.
Because I never read another volume in the Dark Protectors series. And when I began the book, I didn’t really recognize the characters. I say “not really” because they’re still characters mentioned in the spinoff series. So I wasn’t completely lost but I wasn’t comfortable either. So Vampire’s Faith can be read without having read the other volumes and the spinoff series but I think it’s better to read them first.
For those wanting to discover this universe, there are 16 other novels and 6 novellas. As for me I reviewed all the volumes in the spinoff series.

A “good” point however: it’s a new story arc. That is in the previous volume, Marked, Rebecca had in theory finished the series but probably driven by her fans and her imagination, she decided to continue it by putting forth characters never seen while mentioning past characters or having them intervene.

Here the story takes place 7 years after the end of Marked. Vampire’s Faith can be considered as a sequel to her spinoff series too because I found in it Garett and Logan, two secondary characters from this series I like a lot.

The novel begins with our heroine, Faith, going to the hero’s beside while he’s in a coma. He was found under the ruins, unconscious, no heartbeat, but with a body in good shape. Faith is a neurologist, specialist of comatose patients, and she’s been called because of the strange case of Ronan, our hero. She notices directly he’s alive and thinks of a prank. That’s when Ronan chooses to open his eyes and as he whispers her name, she’s convinced her best friend is making fun of her.
During the first part of the book, the hero must make her accept the fact there are supernatural beings, that she has powers allowing her to be the best in her field and that she’s the hero’s mate who knows her through the dreams he had of her. The heroine’s TSTL side is present from the beginning of the book and doesn’t improve at all, the worst being when she falls into a trap headlong.
Our hero is a being “hidden” to everyone, including his own species and his family. He’s part of a group working in the shadows from centuries against his species’ tenacious enemies, the Kurjan and the Cyst. When he awakes, he had been confined in a parallel universe from centuries, as one of the guardians for a being everyone must be afraid of because it’s indestructible. So he awakes in a modern world utterly unknown to him. His discovery of this new world is the part I loved because that brought humor and lightness.
The alchemy between the heroes is instant but they don’t yield straightaway because they’re soon in danger and must hide and/or flee for a long time. There are not many love scenes but seeing the plot it wasn’t possible.

As for the secondary characters, we have two young children whose parents are on opposite sides, especially Hope, who’s the daughter of Zane and Janie, heroes in Marked.
With her intervention, I had two feelings: she will be an important element in this new story arc and it’s possible that afterward there is a third story arc with these children grown-up.

I don’t know how many volumes the author has planned for the series but I don’t intend to read the sequel because of this new arc. It’s done more and more with paranormal romance authors and I’m not fan at all. During all my reading I was thinking: all that fuss for nothing. I had a feeling of unending wars from one story arc to the other, of useless sacrifices during different volumes, useless because in any way the bad guys are still there as the author made them stronger so invincible. The problem also with a hero being part of this secret organization is the fact that mutual assistance and support from the previous heroes don’t exist anymore and that disturb me when I see our heroes so alone against this threat. And to finish, I also wondered if among the next bad guys’ victims the author would dare having an important character from the previous books die, even a previous hero. In short, to avoid this kind of bad surprise, I prefer not to read the rest.

Fortunately Rebecca has other series under her belt, especially in romantic suspense, so I will focus on those.

After seeing so many glowing reviews I was prepared to be wowed. Maybe I set the bar too high. Don't get me wrong, I liked this book, but I didn't love it. My main issue was Faith. Yes, she's smart and confident and strong, but she's also stubborn and arrogant and willfully blind. I was annoyed by her most of the time. Regardless, this was still a good installment of the series.

5 The Dark Protectors are back Stars

**Warning this review will contain copious amounts of Fangirling and a liberal sprinkling of curse words**

OMFG to say I am a Rebecca Zanetti Fan would be a gross understatement. I FUCKING love Rebecca. Like crazy fangirl love! I haven't read a book from her that I didn't love. My favorite series of her is the Dark Protectors. I was so sad when the series ended. I went through serious withdrawals. I craved that shit bad! Did like 3 rereads, bought all the books in paperback so I could pet them, and then read the Realm Enforcer series just to get a little more time in the DP world. So when I heard that Rebecca Zanetti was bringing back the Dark Protector Series, well I may have had a fangirl freak out.

I seen Vampire Faith on Netgalley and prayed I would get it. When I seen I got it, I may have screamed a little bit. My ass may have danced around the house a some,*cough* lost my shit*cough* whatever. This book was so good. From page 1 it was a start to finish thrill ride. Ronan Kayrs was totally sexy and everything I have come to expect in a Kayrs male. Who is Ronan Kayrs you say? Well I'm not telling, but I can tell you that I fell madly in love with him. He was a major bad ass warrior, a protector, at times playful and all alpha! I loved his backstory. Dr. Faith Cooper was great too. I loved how smart, and brave she was. There was also a naive side to her that didn't want to believe there was pure evil in the world. Even though I really liked Faith I found myself at times annoyed with her rash decisions. I understood where she was coming from, but she made choices that endangered not just herself and Ronan but Garrett as well. No one messes with my mini Talen!

Ronan and Faith together were cute and at times reminded me a little of Talen and Cara. Which was cool because I love them. It was so good seeing Benny, Logan, Garrett, and Dage again. The plot was very good, and I can't wait to see where Rebecca takes this series. My only complaint was I would have liked more of the past couples to be in this book. I was hoping to see some interaction between the new characters and the originals. I just kept waiting for some Talen time. I wanted to see how Emma, Faith, and Kane got along. I was hoping to see a little family reunion. I have high hopes that my favorites will play a bigger part in the next book. Still overall this book was great. I started it last night and finished it this morning at 4am. I couldn't put it down.

OH yeah! Another rocking good story by Ms. Zanetti. Full of paranormal elements and romance. Good solid plot makes this an enjoyable story to read.

I had so much fun with this book, and I've never read anything else in the Dark Protectors universe before! There wasn't a lot that I was confused on, and everything I had questions about where answered for me by the end of the story since I've never read anything by this author before, and I really appreciate that! I would highly recommend this book!

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC copy!

4 stars!

I am a mad fan of Rebecca Zanetti and her Dark Protectors series, and I loved being back in this world! This book is a bit of a series reboot in that it ties in to the Dark Protectors series, while creating a new, exciting and absolutely fascinating story arc that can standalone from the original story. Though Dark Protectors fans will be completely blissed out at the cameos, and the incredibly well-crafted connections to the original story.

This series introduces us to The Seven. A group of powerful supernaturals, bound together as brothers, that mystically protect the world from a great evil. Super-strong vampire Ronan Kayrs (who we are meeting for the first time) is one of the Seven and he sacrificed his life to create and maintain an alternate dimension to trap a powerful kurjan. For hundreds of years he existed in that world, until it unexpectedly shattered and he awakens in a hospital bed in modern times with no idea where or when he is. But he instantly recognises his beautiful doctor as the woman he has been dreaming of.

Faith is a well-known and respected doctor who specialises in patients in comas. Strong, intelligent and fiercely independent, she is protective of her loved ones, but is very much alone in the world. When she is brought in to consult on a case, she has no idea what she is in for when her gorgeous patient awakens and turns her world on its head.

“I spent four hundred years seeing your face and feeling your touch in my dreams.”

Squee!! I love the intensity that comes with a supernatural mating!! Ronan knows that Faith is his destined mate, but Faith has no idea about the supernatural world or her place in it, setting up a great dynamic as he claims her and drags her along on his mission. He has to find his ‘brothers’, figure out what happened to the bad guy and learn about the new world he’s in – all while trying to win over his mate.

Why wasn’t she cooperating? He stood to his full height. “I am Ronan Kayrs of the Kayrs ruling family. Obey me, woman.”
She snorted.
He gaped. What had happened to the world he’d protected?

I loved the story of The Seven. Their secretive role in the paranormal world is intriguing and exciting, the guys themselves are a fascinating bunch that I can’t wait to get to know better, and their bond of brotherhood is both beautiful and hilarious.

“My line has died out here?” Ronan asked quietly. There were no Kayrs members protecting the world?
“No,” Benny said. “There’s a shit-ton of you assholes running around.”

And just as funny is Ronan’s insistence on claiming his woman, despite her objections.

“You will choose to mate me, and it will be for no other reason than you will want to be my mate.”
The audacity of the man. “Want to bet?” she burst out.
“Absolutely,” he said instantly. “Whoever wins gets to name our firstborn.”

There’s a whole lot going on as we are introduced to a new bunch of characters, and their fight against evil – a new brand of creepy kurjans called the cyst. And it’s wonderfully tied in to the Dark Protectors series with character crossovers that are ingeniously established and fit in perfectly to this new and exciting world, while still staying true to the original series.

And then there’s the love story. It’s intense and full of chemistry, heat and sexual tension, as always, with moments of beautiful swoon.

“Just because you can’t explain something doesn’t mean it isn’t true.” Then he grasped her wrist and tugged her slightly toward him, flattening her palm over his thorax. “You feel my heart. For centuries, even when I thought I’d sacrificed my life, this has beat for you. Every second, of every minute, of every day, of every year…”

And now the reason why this book didn’t get 5 stars – because OMG, Faith drove me crazy! Her lack of faith (no pun intended) in Ronan was so frustrating. I get that she’s new to the supernatural world and her scientist’s mind is full of doubt, but the constant questioning and back and forth got tiring. And her actions towards the end of the book made me want to throttle her. Seriously, the woman could not get any stupider, and though the end of the book was full of action, excitement and suspense, I read the whole thing in a sense of disbelief and so much fury at Faith that it dulled what could have been a truly epic ending to the story. It’s a testament to how much I love Ronan, and how good the story is, that the heroine could piss me off so much yet I still absolutely loved the book.

“I love you.” He placed her hand over his chest. “You beat here and always will. Everything I am or will ever be is yours.”

This is a really strong start to an exciting new series, and an exciting continuation for Dark Protectors fans. The newly introduced characters are fantastic, and characters that we know but always wanted more of will all have their chance to have their stories told and I cannot wait! There are a number of future storylines set up in this book, and I am so excited for this series to continue.

I loved it!

4 stars (but would have been 5 with a less annoying heroine)

Dr Faith Cooper is renowned for her expertise with coma patients. Her expertise is requested for a coma patient that is not reacting the way a normal patient does. When she arrives, she believes a co-worker is playing a joke on her. The male she sees in the bed does not react or look like a regular coma patient would. What she doesn’t realize is this patient is not human and that she has bitten off more than she can chew with this case.

Ronan Kayrs is a vampire and has been dreaming of Faith for centuries. When he wakes up after being in a coma, he does not recognize this new world. He does recognize Faith as his mate however, and he will have her at any cost.

Will Faith and Ronan come together and be able to adapt to this new world each has been shown? Or will their differences and the new worlds shown to them tear them apart?

This is an all consuming and action-packed read. It is told in dual POV and had me turning the pages excitedly wondering what would happen next!

I loved Ronan’s caveman mentality. A total “Me, Tarzan, You, Jane” vibe. It was really cute.

This book was also so very funny. I laughed so hard when he had a conversation with Siri. It was priceless!

I loved the build up in their relationship. It did not feel forced or rushed.

Faith is smart, independent and so very stubborn. I loved this but her stubbornness, GAH! Sometimes it got to me.

Ronan is an alpha male ALL THE WAY. He makes no excuses for who and what he is. He is honest and up front and I loved him for it.

This is an exciting read that I enjoyed immensely. If you like an action-packed, page-turning, sizzling read than this one’s for you!
