This was perfect little treat, another fabulous story from Lauren Dane. I loved this story, it was perfect for the characters, I loved the writing and the story. I am glad we got to read about this couple again, and this family. You guys Lauren writes the best families and small town romances I have ever read. If you haven't checked out he work, add this to your TBR, and go bac to where it all begins.

Ok confession- somehow I totally missed Gregori and Wren's story! But I love this series and they have been mentioned more than once in the other books and I was able to read this with no confusion. These two just made me smile so hard. What a perfect pair! Gregori is so sexy- I love his style, the way he talks to his woman, his grunty grumbliness. Unghh, it's all good. Even his sweet tooth and snobbery about higher class accommodations. Wren is such a good balance for him. She's go with the flow, make life an adventure, put a positive spin on it. This was a fun and sexy novella.

This is a new story featuring characters from previous books, Gregori and Wren. They have been together for several years but now they want to get married. Unfortunately their wedding doesn't go as planned. Sweet romance.

I requested this on a whim and it was a fun story.

I liked Wren and Gregori well enough. She’s snarky and sassy and he’s got a gruff exterior, but is actually a squishy marshmallow.

Plot wise, it felt a tad repetitive. I did like their playfulness and how they each did special things for the other, but the writing didn’t get their chemistry across to me. There were several phrases reused and JFC, Gregori only snarled.

Overall, it was a quick and cute read. It is promoted to be able to read as a standalone, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I was familiar with these characters.

This is a sequel I didn't know I needed or wanted. Gregori and Wren had a great coming together in Cake. Now that that havebeen together for years, I love how Gregori wanted to spoil Wren and romance her. I loved even more that Wren could show Gregori that you don't need money, fancy cars, or luxury hotels for romance. Just each other.

Wren is one to always tease her man, “I stand corrected. I was after your cookies and cake from the start. But then we had *** and I realized you had other qualities I loved.” Gregori is just not a morning person, "he flipped her off as he stood and, naked as a jaybird, headed into the bathroom. “Don’t go anywhere without me,” he called through the closed door." I loved how Wren's personaliry balanced out Gregori's.

Sugar takes place about six years after Cake and is recommended for readers who enjoyed Gregori and Wren's first novella (Cake is 98 pages long and published by another Harlequin imprint). If you haven't read Cake, then Sugar will be a nice honeymoon story about a couple. But if you've read Cake, it will mean a lot more for knowing the characters.

Wren was waiting to say yes to Gregori's proposal after the success of her own career so that her success wouldn't be attributed to their marriage. When he proposes this time, she says yes, and he surprises her by sharing he's made all the arrangements for them to get married in New York because he knows she doesn't want a wedding. Their families can throw them parties later and it saves them the stress of family help aka interference on their wedding day.

Unfortunately, the weather goes bad, the plane has electrical problems and it'll take a couple days for a new part. So Wren figures out how they can get married in middle-of-nowhere Idaho, makes it happen, and convinces Gregori to road-trip home instead of flying back to Seattle on another plane. Gregori's never gone on a road trip and part of the sweetness of this novella is the new things they get to enjoy together. It's very satisfying for fans of Dane's work and they'll enjoy a cameo by a particular Brown brother who happens to be a tattoo artist. Dane skillfully weaves information about the past six years of their relationship into this sweet novella. I particularly enjoyed Grigori referring to Wren as "his heart given legs."

Fans have been waiting since Lauren Dane wrote Cake to continue Wrenn and Gregori's story. We've gotten peeks into their life together in the Whiskey Sharp series, but this short story is entirely theirs. Lauren Dane writes heart with plenty of heat.

If you enjoyed Cake, you’ll love Sugar. Wren and Gregori are back and hotter than ever! This is another quick read, it was a great “palate cleanser” for me between a heavy read and something new. If you want a sweet sexy read this is great but do take time to read Cake!
