If you have the stomach for it do take in this interesting and insightful essay on mental institutions and their tenants. It covers the why, the what, the how, the general prognoses. If you have the stomach for it, I said. It's depressing but it IS well written and interestingly, it's not written by a know it all doctor. No license here and the author tells you up front where he's coming from. Except for a few books on asylums written by patients I haven't come across this type of viewpoint before. Worth a look!

This book was interesting with unique viewpoints and experiences of the author. At the end of the book, the author started to go off track, but was good other than that. I recognized a lot of situations, as I myself have worked as a tech on the psych wards.

Parts were good, parts were odd. It seemed very disorganized but I was still interested up until the random gun control rant that kind of killed it for me. It seemed out of place and ill fitting with the book (there would have been ways to tie it in for sure but this was not done).

Interesting book. The stories are at times hilarious, some sad. I dont know which I enjoyed more, the psychiatric hospital or the medical examiner's office. For either job, it takes a special person. I would recommend this book. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of the book in return for my honest review.

Thank you Net Galley for the free ARC. I liked the memoir part of death better than the lunacy part. The death part was simply horrific and best summed up by the author's statement of not appreciating when you are blessed to be alive.
