I will admit I did not expect to really get involved in this book. However, the first 20 pages or so hooked me, and I could not put the book down. A mining accident on mars brings Commander Logan Marchant and a team of specialists to investigate. Both he and the team geologist encounter much more than they had considered. Fast paced and intelligent writing.

3.5 stars actually. The narrative was serviceable in places, but the overall storyline was enjoyable. Thankfully, the author did not get too technical with the science content and the telepathic communication was a nice touch.

I am reviewing this book without finishing it. The story indicates that Micromium is an element that will solve the world energy crisis. It seemingly does not fit anywhere on the periodic table but the author makes no effort to explain any of the elemental properties of it. The dust jacket information indicates that two Mars colonists have died but five chapters in there is no explanation of the circumstances. The dialogue and plot sequencing just seem too stilted to make this an enjoyable read.

Great read! A lot of information is crammed into the first few chapters which made it a little hard to get into but once I did, wow!
A group of scientists is sent to Mars to check up on a mining company that is providing ore desperately needed on Earth. However, things are not what they seem. Not even close! Add in some aliens, some bad guys and you are in for a fun ride!
I recommend this to all sci fi fans especially YA readers.

The plot for this sci-fi thriller is very innovative, and adds some twists that I haven't seen in similar books that I've read. The author also gives a lot of attention to developing the main characters. Very enjoyable to read overall, although some of the small details were confusing because they conflicted with each other.
