I am so glad I decided to reread book one of this series, so I could read the sequels. Book one is as good as I remember and book two truly takes the story to a whole other level. I am a fan of how Gallicano incorporated mythology into this book–it is a great take that is different than others!

Loved the cover, and adored The Selkie of San Francisco. It picked up very neatly where we left off in the first book and got going very quickly. A fast-paced adventure with twists and turns on every page. I cannot wait for the next book. A definite read fore fantasy readers who veer more towards magical realism.

Thanks to the publisher for providing me with an advanced reader's copy.

I really enjoyed this one! I enjoyed stories like this as a kid, (Percy Jackson, etc.) and enjoy them even now.

Lots of fast-paced, nonstop adventure with numerous magical beings. The book has lots of wonderfully imaginative fantastical ideas and places.

As nice as it is to read a book with so much mythical world building, I also wish it slowed down every so often to allow for some digestion time instead of rushing off to one exciting adventure after another. By the time we're halfway through the book, it's hard to remember which myths were introduced just a few chapters ago, because we're already on to a different cultural mythical idea. I felt the same about the characters. None of them stood still long enough to get their characters down. We're constantly jumping from one fire to the next.

Still, the book is a good light read, packed with mythical beings and quick adventures. I recommend it for fans of Percy Jackson and the like.

The first book in this series set up this book very well. When reading this I felt it was more like an adventure/quest than in book one. The plot wraps up nicely, but the ending throws the reader into a tailspin. I can’t wait for the next book!
