What Holly's Husband Did by Debbie Viggiano is an interesting book about Holly Hart, who has been married to Alex for 15 years, and they have a 13 year old daughter. Holly begins to question her marriage after seeing racy text messages on her husband's phone. This book made me laugh out loud, but it also had it's serious points. I guessed what Holly's husband did before it was revealed, but I still enjoyed this book. I recommended this book for anyone who likes chic lit.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

EXCERPT: 'Listen to me, you silly goose. Do you really think I have the time or energy to have an affair?'

I looked at my husband. This was a man with a sex drive smaller than a goldfish.

ABOUT THIS BOOK: Holly Hart has been married for fifteen blissful years to hubby Alex. Well… if you don't count last Christmas, when she accidentally found a load of flirty texts on Alex's phone. But every marriage has its ups and downs and Alex had a perfectly reasonable explanation… so why can't Holly forget what she saw?

With the help of best friends Jeanie and Caro, as well as their handsome neighbour Jack, Holly resolves to settle her mind once and for all with a bit of sneaky detective work. So what if her husband isn't exactly Brad Pitt? He's hers, and if someone else is trying to steal him she wants to know who…. But the truth is way more shocking than Holly ever anticipated. Can Holly, let alone her marriage, ever recover from what she discovers?

MY THOUGHTS: Disappointing. Predictable. Not at all funny. Didn't even crack a smile, let alone laugh ...

2.5 stars.

Just because I found this to be an unsatisfying read doesn't mean that you won't love it. This is my personal opinion, my reaction to the book. Holly's world turned upside down when she read a series of 'sexts' on her husband's phone. The explanation was flaky, to say the least, and Holly wasn't going to sit back and be walked over. She set about trying to find the mysterious 'Queenie' but the more she looked, the more suspects popped out of the woodwork.

As Holly's detective work progresses we are drawn into a maze of possibilities, getting more and more eager to find out just what is going on. Holly's paranoia leads to an absolutely rip-roaring ending you will not see coming!

I think everyone should have a friend like Holly, she was warm and witty yet willing to fight for her marriage. I detected the loneliness she felt. despite all the wisecracks, and just wanted her to be happy. Why couldn't she see that she was so much better than her vile, patronising husband?

I loved, loved, loved this book, it's hard for me to choose a favourite chapter because there were so many! I have to say though that I was chuckling about Jack's dental check up hours later and I will never see a pair of rubber gloves in the same way again!

It was a pure tonic and I will be adding Debbie Viggiano's other books to my 'must read list!'

Thank you to Kim from Bookouture for providing me with a copy which I have reviewed honestly.

A hilariously funny romp with a twist that will make you gasp! Perfect for fans of Tracy Bloom, Sophie Kinsella and Marian Keyes.

A laugh-until-you-cry, feel-good novel from the bestselling author of Stockings and Cellulite and The Corner Shop of Whispers.

--My thoughts. Need a book to make you laugh? Look no further! I couldn't help but laugh over and over. Holly just can't seem to get her husband pay any attention to her. So, what do we all assume? He is having an affair. Holly thinks it might be one of her BFF's, or/and a patient of her husband's. The ending will come out of nowhere so be prepared! But I guarantee several things. First off, you will ENJOY yourself reading this book. But don't get upset with your husband and start analyzing him! Second, you will be knocked off of your keester at the end! Third, you will want to pick up all the books by Viggiano after this! Who wouldn't want to read and enjoy a light read...

When the list starts going up at the party, when Alex has to leave so frequently and not take Holly.. so many enjoyable moments but at times I thought Alex was a turd and I wanted to clobber him with my purse many times! But then you have the hot Jack!! Ooo laa laa! Read Holly's story about what her husband does, and enjoy!

I’ll start by being completely honest. I got three chapters into this book and wrote it off. I just couldn’t get myself interested in it, and so I put it down for a while, but something kept on nagging at me to pick it up again. So eventually I gave in and gave it a second go. Whilst I didn’t find myself laughing hysterically, or even out-loud, I did find the book engaging and interesting and I’m glad that I didn’t write it off completely.

The characters are all well developed and interesting to get to know and were perfectly realistic. The relationship between the three best friends is just how you would imagine it to be when you have been through everything together since school. Holly is a woman on a mission. A lot of women would have screamed and yelled at the messages on their husbands’ phone, but Holly decides that he is her husband and this other woman isn’t having him. Not sure I would have done the same, especially with an over-bearing, stuck-up husband like hers was.

There is a great twist in the book too which I didn’t see coming. I sat and read the book (second time) on a hot glorious day in the garden and finished it within a few hours. It held my attention and was truly enjoyable. The author has taken a serious issue and made it light-hearted, which has really worked. The book is an easy read perfect for adding to your summer TBR list.

Wow wow wow. I literally devoured this book in two hours on my journey up to Edinburgh. I had to neglect my child while I was reading this - it's ok she had her colouring books and Barbie's! Although I did have to keep stopping to update my husband while he drove - not sure if he cared or not, I did make sure he knew what happening!!

This book has fast become one of my favourite chick-lit books, mainly because of the rollercoaster ride I went on, all the red herrings that are thrown up and how I didn't suspect who "Queenie" was until Holly did.

The story unfolds through Holly's eyes as we follow her through on the adventure of the mysterious sexter that struck Alex's phone on Christmas Day, with promises of rubbing him like a genie (I mean wow!)

Since that fateful moment, when Alex tried to palm it off as a misunderstanding, that it was a crazy ex-patient, Holly just couldn't let go, I couldn't let go either! I mean who was this woman!

Months following this, she is still pondering the text messages and playing detective. Leading on to some rather crazy facebook messages to one woman she suspects. Everyone in the book is under suspicion, and I loved the fact that you never knew who it was until the end. (Well I didn't guess but once I knew it seemed obvious) I was led in to a false sense of security by the author, as I was firm in my decision to who Queenie was, then the rug was pulled out from under me (not literally still in the car at this point) and I didn't have a clue who to believe....the next page I was back believing it was my original person.

As you can tell, the author misleads you countless times, which I thought was fantastic. It kept me on my toes, and as I said I devoured this book in a couple of hours. It made my jaw drop with conversations and actions taken, and quite a few times laughing so loudly, my little girl told me to stop as I was hurting her ears!

Holly's actions while playing said detective ends up affecting everyone around her, as so many lives come crashing down. Everything we know is linked in one way or another, as we got closer to the big reveal. The surprise 40th birthday party she throws for Alex was quite entertaining from an outsiders' point of view but heartbreaking too.

The one party that did make my heart break for Holly, was a function she 'demanded' to go with Alex too, she never normally goes and he is happy that she doesn't go. Her husband's behaviour and words were outrageous to Holly, although his behaviour is explained later, I did not think it was justified (hard to say too much without giving spoilers away!!).

All I will say about one of my favourite scenes in the book is 8 words - curtain tassels, marigold gloves and a bad back. Seriously, it was so bloody funny! You need to read the book to find out more!

Like I said, I devoured this book, I followed Holly on her discovery which she took to find Queenie, and in the end, she got much more than she expected! This is the sort of book I would love to be on the big screen!

Yes, I’m quite aware that this isn’t my normal sort of read at all. In all honesty, I tend to shy away from pretty much anything romantic or something that promises to make me laugh out loud. Which is like the evil stepsister of that twist you won’t see coming. More often than not, I do see it coming and don’t laugh out loud.

So why pick up something like this, I hear you asking? I don’t really know but let’s call it a broadening of the horizons, cleansing the palette, having a change of scenery, whatever. Truth be told, I actually really enjoyed this one. Go figure. You just never know.

Holly and her husband Alex have been married for fifteen years. Everything seemed to be going perfectly well until Holly finds flirty texts or “sexts” on her husband’s phone. Alex has a perfectly reasonable explanation but Holly isn’t convinced and she can’t forget what she saw. Of course Alex isn’t Mister Perfect but he’s Holly’s and if someone else has her eye on him, Holly is going to find out who it is.

Ever notice how when you think something is going on, everyone around you suddenly starts to act incredibly suspiciously? Holly is convinced her husband is having an affair but just when she starts to zero in on a viable suspect, someone else pops up who may be hiding a thing or two. All this does is fuel Holly’s belief something is amiss but is she on the right track though? One thing is for sure, flowers will most definitely not fix this one.

This has all the elements you’d expect from this genre. Unruly teenagers, a fabulous group of friends, a husband who isn’t exactly going to win any awards, a delightfully camp gay brother and of course, a dashing man to muddy the waters and a rather surprising conclusion. Despite the heartbreaking issue of infidelity, this still managed to be a fun, entertaining and enjoyable story. If chick-lit is your thing, then I have no doubt you’ll enjoy this one.

Perfect for those summer days by the pool with a yummy cocktail.

And in case you wondered, yes, I may have laughed out loud a few times. But you can’t prove it. 😉

3.5⭐️
Holly's relatively happy fifteen year marriage to Alex hits a nasty speed bump when she discovers some disturbing sexy and flirtatious texts on Alex's phone. His explanation of it being a patient who has taken things too far seems plausible, however Holly cannot get it out of her mind. Who is sending Alex those texts? Is he having an affair? Holly plans to find out! She quickly becomes suspicious of almost every woman around her as being her husband's mistress, with some amusing consequences.

Throw in her best friends Caro and Jeanie who have their own drama to deal with, kids and a host of characters, some funny and some infuriating, and you have yourself a charming, fun, chic-lit read that was easy to get lost in until the unexpected end.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

4.5 brilliant Starrs 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

This book did a fabulous job of balancing humor and some serious subject matter.... Holly has been married for 15 years... after reading some suggestive text messages on her husband’s phone, trust has gone out the window.... i’ve always said the minute I am reading messages on somebody’s phone I’m out the door, if I can’t trust you we are done! Of course I say this as a happily divorced woman, and my marriage did not break up because of cheating, we had plenty of other issues... I mention this because I think there are some parts of this book I viewed differently because for me my life improve so much after I left my marriage, that I see it as a good option... and I realize this is not how a lot of people look at it....

Holly was a wonderful character, and let me just start this off by saying she was way too good for her husband Alex.... Holly was fun, real, and really did not give her self enough credit.... Alex was just a pompous jerk.... I cannot imagine this was a blissful marriage up until to the point of these text messages, unless Alex had a personality transformation as well... did not like him... at all... Holly is determined to save her marriage though... she does this by trying to spice things up in the bedroom... and by throwing him a 40th birthday party.... she also took it upon herself to play detective and some of her techniques were quite amusing....

The secondary characters in this book were quite quirky and fun... loved Holly’s brother Simon he was fabulous! Jack was quite delightful as well... Holly‘s two BFFs were a lot of fun also, even though she suspected one of them of being the person Alex was cheating with....

brilliant book filled with fabulous characters, lots of laughs and an ending you will not see coming... absolutely recommend if you enjoy a humorous book about real life....

*** many thanks to Bookouture and Net Galley for my copy of this book ***

This was the first of Debbie’s books that I have actually read but I can absolutely guarantee that it won’t be the last. I absolutely LOVED reading ‘What Holly’s Husband Did’ but more about that in a bit.
I took to the character of Holly Hart from the start. Her sex life with her husband has gone off the boil and Holly thinks that her husband Alex must be playing away from home. It’s the only reason she can come up with as to why things are a bit lacking in the bedroom department. She tries to keep up appearances with her best friends and insists that she and Alex are having knee trembling sex but the more she tries to convince them, the worse she makes the lie sound and she just ends up digging an even bigger hole for herself. Holly tries to find the evidence to prove Alex is up to no good but her attempts at evidence gathering leads her into some hilarious scrapes. I do think that Alex has taken Holly for granted and that the Harts are a family, who just don’t talk to each other. It doesn’t help matters that Alex’s side of the family don’t exactly take to Holly’s brother, who is just hilariously catty. I loved the tight friendship Holly has her with friends but at times I did wonder if the friendship was doing more harm than good in the sense of they are competing with each other to have the best life and can be very bitchy towards each other. Is Alex playing away or is there another explanation? What is the twist in the story? Well for the answer to those questions and more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
Oh my, I haven’t chuckled away as much as I did whilst reading this book for a long, long time. From the moment I opened the book until the moment I finished the book, I found myself chuckling away at Holly’s antics and the fact that in a sense her attempts to sort things out were actually making things worse. Each time I turned the page, there was something new to laugh at. I have a very vivid imagination and whilst I was reading, I could just picture the scene in my head. Holly certainly got herself into some scrapes. This book really did cheer me up no end and it even made me forget temporarily about the chronic pain I suffer from.
This book is really well written and very funny to boot. The author’s writing style is such that you can’t help but be drawn into the story and before you realise what is happening you are hooked on the book and the page numbers fly past in a blur. That was certainly the case for me. Reading ‘What Holly’s Husband Did’ really did become an addiction and I just had to get my next fix of one more page, one more chapter and so on. ‘What Holly’s Husband Did’ is one of those books that you don’t want to end and you intend to ration yourself as to how much you read in order to prolong the length of time it is taking to read the book but you become so hooked on reading the book that your idea of rationing flies out of the window. I originally picked up this book only intending to read a couple of chapters but before I knew it I had cleared over 50% of the book. I was so into the story and I liked the characters so much that I genuinely didn’t realise how quickly I was reading this book. The characters are so realistic that I began to compare them to people I knew as I reckon that we all know a ‘Holly’. The scenarios that Holly finds herself are also all too realistic too.
In conclusion, I absolutely bloody well ADORED reading this book and I can’t wait to read what comes next from Debbie Viggiano. Here’s hoping that we don’t have too long to wait. In the meantime I am going to content myself with reading some of her other books. I just know that I will love them just as much as ‘What Holly’s Husband Did’. I would definitely recommend this author and this book to other readers. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a massively well deserved 5* out of 5*.

5☆An Hilarious Romp.i couldn't put down!

Whay Holly's Husband Did, is a hilarious romp about betrayal, friendship, relationships, mishaps and lots of laughter.

I absolutely adored this book. I can't tell you how much it had me laughing out loud.
At times I was thinking I really shouldn't be laughing at this but I couldn't help myself.

Holly's Husband has been sexting a person called Queenie. She discovered the texts on his phone.
Holly just can't trust him.

Holly's bestest friends Caro and Jeanie are eager to direct Holly's sex life.
But truth is she isn't getting any. But she just can't bring herself to tell them the truth. So she makes up some wild story to get there juices flowing.

I felt so sorry for Holly. I was wishing for her to confide in her friends.
Instead she tells her camp brother who lets slip her hubby is on Facebook.
So she does no more and sets up a Facebook account to start snooping!
What could possible go wrong! ... right!

Debbie has created characters that literally jump off the page. They are relatable and believable and my heart simply went out to Holly as she struggles to keep her family together.

What Holly's Husband Did is a fast paced compulsive read I literally devoured in one night. I just couldn't put it down!
Debbie has a witty writing style that had me laughing so hard.
Debbie has weaved her magic once again and created the perfect mix of humour with sensitive subjects, romance and friendship.

Prepare to laugh alot and smile as you read this Heartwarming and Compelling Page Turner. Enjoy!

This book is the perfect chick lit pool or beach read. The author's writing reminded me of Sophie Kinsella.

This is laugh out loud funny. It is very witty the whole way through. I had guessed what Alex was hiding and I still enjoyed this book. This is a really good beach read or relaxing in your own back garden read. I liked most of the characters and I liked the writing style. I would definitely recommend this book and will be looking out for more books by this author.

If you're not following Debbie Viggiano on social media already, I suggest you do so right now! Before I read 'What Holly's Husband Did', I had been stalking the author on social media, laughing out loud at the hilarious things she posted. I had everything crossed that Viggiano would project her own genuine humour into the storyline itself and honestly, I was not at all disappointed.

I don't want to give anything away, but this story is absolutely hilarious, with the author using some of her personality traits for her own characters. There are no 'oooops mustn't say that' moments as it was clear from the onset that Debbie Viggiano was going to write her story with no limitations. Take a look at Holly for example, a character who couldn't give a monkeys whether she kept up with the Jones' or not, highlighting the fact that people in relationships with children, do actually end up losing their shizzle!

Alongside Holly, 'What Holly's Husband Did' was the home of such a mixed bag of characters who both made me laugh and annoy me at the same time. Holly and her friends don't pretend that everything is hunk dory...well, they do at first, but in the grand scheme of things they don't - if they wish to talk about positions or the lack of, they would do so to their heart's content as if they're merely talking about the whether. Seriously, that is genuinely how laid back and refreshing this story is.

Not only that, 'What Holly's Husband Did' contains enough drama to rival all of the soap opera's shown on TV in the UK at the moment, and by golly I wish I had had popcorn whilst I was reading it! There was so much drama, skeletons in closets, and shockers to keep me content until the very last page!

I love how the authors personality shines through the storyline as it cemented the laid back and relatable vibe overall. I also loved how every event in the book flowed, leaving me eager to turn the pages to find out what happened next. I am so pleased that I got the opportunity to read Debbie Viggiano's newest release - I honestly don't think I have laughed that much in ages. I'm surprised my neighbour didn't come knocking, asking me if I had a pig in my house! (Yes, I snlaughed.....loudly).

Again, being very careful here for spoilers, the concluding chapters were absolutely fluffing hilarious and completely unexpected! I didn't see it coming at all and, whilst it did appear to be utterly bonkers, it was also utterly brilliant and confirmed that 'What Holly's Husband Did' is a book that I will be recommending for a very, very long time.

Snlaugh inducing and side splittingly hilarious, 'What Holly's Husband Did' will have you begging for more, whilst also leaving you feeling bereft as you say t'ra to a truly brilliant and memorable novel.

I received an ecopy of this book from Bookouture in exchange for an honest review. This is something I'm more than happy to do.

I picked this up and settled in the garden for a quick read before carrying on with a few jobs. Needless to say here we are today and the jobs still need finishing! What a delightful book, I smiled, gasped and howled out loud as Holly goes on a mission to get to the bottom of some sexy texting found the previous Christmas on her husband Alex's mobile phone. He has a perfectly plausible, mmmmm - perhaps not quite plausible explanation for them.

Debbie has created characters that are totally engaging - I could clearly envisage them in my mind from the very beginning of the novel. Her two best friends Jeannie and Caro - exchanging gossip and advice over coffee and cake at every opportunity. Their interactions are typical of lifelong friends who know each other inside out, warts and all. Not afraid to dish out advice and ask the most prying questions of each others 'love life' and always have each others back. Holly could rely on them, or could she? A chance comment has her doubting the friendship of one of them - could she be the mysterious 'Queenie' - sender of sexy text messages to her husband - I gasped surely not?!

This is a light-hearted fun story with a serious subject at the heart of it - mis-trust, self doubt and jealousy send Holly hurtling down a path that portrays her as a completely bonkers, out of control harpy that was always just two steps from losing it totally. Mind you I would probably be doing time for murder now if ~I was married to the over-bearing, oaf she was married to - he was pompous and patronising beyond belief, then assumed the sweetness and light, butter wouldn't melt act. The pompousness was definitely his more believable characteristic for me.

It was a perfect read for a sunny afternoon in the garden, I constantly chuckled at Holly - she was comedic without realising it, when she whipped out the empty Bolognese sauce jar hidden in her handbag from her husband (he didn't allow processed food in the house, everything had to be cooked from scratch) at the golf club and calmly asked for it to be put in the bin please whilst dying inside was hilarious, I nearly wet myself. Anyone not a golfer will confirm that most golf-clubs are a little bit stuffy and pretentious and Holly was way out of her comfort zone here but styled it out with panache. As she did on more than one subsequent occasion throughout the novel.

A throughly enjoyable read that does what it says on the tin, it made me laugh and chuckle throughout at Holly's antics and wouldn't hesitate to pick up another of Debbie's novels when I need a bit of light entertainment, an easy read that whisked me straight into Holly's world.

Holly finds texts on husband's phone from a Queenie with some naughty x-rated stuff and her doubts and suspicions start bubbling. The book follows the usual twists and turns, especially when the husband refuses to give her a warm hug. A cardboard hug is what he gives.
My second book by author Debbie Viggiano, and I had great expectations from it. I wanted to roll with laughter, but it was a pleasant read. I kept hoping that the book would pick up speed or interest, but it remained just a pleasant read. Last 20% of the book was good fun with secrets revealed, though I had already guessed with the cardboard hug. It ended as a pleasant read. Sighhhh.....
What Holly's husband did is revealed in the end, and what the book revealed is my runaway humor. Sighhhh...

What hasn’t Holly’s husband done?! All is revealed at the end, but you’ll have an enjoyable time getting there, and when you do, you’ll gasp!

Holly has been married to dentist Alex for 15 years and they have one teenage daughter Sophie. Last Christmas when Alex popped out to get some milk for the custard, Holly discovered some suggestive texts on Alex’s phone. Every bone in her body was chilled when she read them, and when she confronted him, he explained that it was a patient who was sending the texts, and he was keeping them on his phone in case things escalated. But Holly couldn’t move on and kept looking for signs that her husband was having an affair.
Deciding to take her mind off things, she throws herself head first into planning a surprise 40th birthday party for Alex at the local golf club. That in turn presents more problems.

With the help of her best friends Jeanie and Caro, as well as her childhood friend Jack, Holly decides to seek out the truth…but sometimes it’s a case of “be careful what you wish for.”

When I first started this book, I thought it was going to start with yet another affair by Alex, and Holly is just the doormat and trophy wife who accepts it but moans about it to her friends. This isn’t the case, although I do think Holly portrayed a few doormat tendencies, and I really wanted her to square up to Mum Izzy at the school gates.

I couldn’t warm to Alex, the husband. He seemed really mean to Holly, and the chapter where he described her as boring to another doctor at a Dinner and Dance bought tears to my eyes. How dare he do that in front of her?

The opening chapter was really funny, and I knew from that, that I was settling in for a fun few hours of reading.

A lovely, funny read which, if you’re like me, will make you gasp with the twist at the end!

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book is not my usual reading genre, but I wanted something lighthearted and funny to read in between my usual psychological thrillers.
The synopsis of this book looked good, and I am glad I picked this one as it did exactly what it promised! It was very easy to read and there were a number of moments when I found I was putting my hand over my mouth and having a good old laugh out loud! The plot was cleverly written to keep the reader wondering the truth about Alex's mysterious behaviour. I had several theories, but the outcome was brilliant and totally unexpected.
