I loved the mix of location, old history and arcane facts. The characters sometimes got a little wordy sharing their knowledge though it was interesting to learn about. Irem could be fool-hardy going off to strange places on her own in a foreign country, but I enjoyed the journey. Great history, esp. the shroud, ending in a strange but all-too-scary twist. The best part was the hunky Italian officer and a charming ending that leaves you looking for more between him and Irem. An enjoyable read!

Imagine a DaVinci Code-esque mystery with a female protagonist who is visiting Rome to attend the wedding of her expatriate brother to the man who is his lover. Make the protagonist an archivist at Chicago’s Field Museum and the lover an archaeologist on the cusp of what may be a major discovery. Throw in mayhem ranging from unexplained assault to arson and you have The Bone Shroud. While, this quick-paced read is improbable, that doesn’t make it unenjoyable.

I received this book for free from #Netgalley and Publisher/author in exchange for an honest review.

This was very good historical mystery. I enjoyed all the details the author put into this book. I loved seeing this city in the eyes of the character. This is book 1 of a new series. I am not sure how many books will be out but I can't wait to read book 2. I do find that book one was a fast read.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author, and I was not disappointed! I was almost immediately sucked into the storyline and the main character, Irem. The scenes were well described and easily conjured in my mind's eye. Set at a fascinating pace, the story was almost over before I knew it. A definite page turned with a surprising twist I didn't see coming. I look forward to reading her other books.

A very fast paced and entertaining book.
It was fun to read and a real page turner.
The book is well written and the characters are interesting. Rome is a bit on the touristic side but there are enjoyable descriptions (I'm Italian :) )
Recommended.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Boone Street Press
