Charlie’s parents would go to any lengths to protect their son, but would they murder for him? This story was a quick read that didn’t end quite how I had expected. Throughout the book, I pretty much knew what to expect until the end. I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author, Margot Hunt for allowing me to read this book in return of an honest review.

I am fast becoming a super-fan of Margot Hunt, especially now that I’ve read this sophomore effort and loved it. Hunt is able to ratchet up the suspense to a full 10 and keep the pace going until the end of the book.

In this book, Natalie and Will, successful lawyers whose personal life feels a little stale, discover a horrifying secret after their son’s school principal is arrested. Then Natalie makes a decision she can’t take back and finds her and her husband in quite a pickle. Can they work together to get out of this conundrum?

The description probably reads very vague, and that’s on purpose, because I don’t want to give away too much to begin with. Going in with a blank late is better, that way you can experience the intense emotions this book conjures in a real, raw way. And there are some very, sensitive aspects of this book, to warn you.

This book is really a big “What would you do?” Scenario and it’s done in a way that is really suspenseful and doesn’t give you the full picture until the ending, which I loved. You’re not sure how everything’s going to turn out until the author wants you to figure it out - and you’re not sure how the characters are going to handle things either. That’s a big part of the book as the true nature of the characters is slowly revealed as the story goes on.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what Margot Hunt comes up with next. I’ll definitely be reading it!

Overall, this book was very entertaining, however some parts were a bit anti-climatic. At the beginning when they were talking about planning the perfect murder, it would have been interesting to see what their plan was at that point and how it related back to present day.

In For Better and Worse by Margot Hunt, a couple with martial problems come together in order to enact revenge upon their son’s school principal after it is alleged that he was abusing his pupils. The narrative switches back and forth between husband and wife, as obstacle after obstacle are thrown their way. You are left wondering if and how they will be caught – and whether they will turn on each other in the meanwhile. The subject matter is dark, but this rollercoaster of a novel is very compelling.

A husband and wife learn what they are willing to do to protect their child. Is there a sexual predator in the neighborhood? As lawyers - they know the system - will they use it to cover up a crime?

Did I ever love this book! A must-read. A tale of 'how to get away with the perfect murder', paired with how far people will go to protect their loved ones, and the idea of how well a person really knows their spouse makes for a tantalizing read. It kept me on the edge of my seat right until the end, waiting to discover if they will get away with murder after all. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

This book was amazing. The author really brought you into the situation this couple faces and shows the turmoil and issues marriage can bring. This couple did terrible things, but some were for great reasons. I don't think I could do what this couple did, but I sure don't blame them for it. I can see why this is a decent solution in their grieve stricken minds. How it happens was a surprise and how they got out of it was an even bigger surprise. I definitely recommend this book!

Wow, I could not put this book down, thanks for the opportunity to read the book. The plot was well laid out, characters easy to follow and not all introduced at once, so you got the chance to know them. Natalie and Will, meet in University, both are lawyers, get married, start a family, life in a small town happens, I don't want to give the story away. This is a great read, I would read more from Margot Hunt. There are no big surprises in the turn of events until the end when you think it's going to go one way(not a good outcome) and it goes the other. Again, great read, loved it!!

I need a minute to stop saying "OH MY GOD" over and over...ok, i think I'm ready.
WHAT did I just read because it was freaking A W E S O M E!! This book was so well written and separated into Parts narrated by Natalie (the wife) and Will (the husband). There was suspense, emotional and sad topics, cheating, family, lies, deceit, and so much more that I think its best for the reader to go into this knowing less. I did and I was caught so off guard by how amazing this book was. And if you are looking for a twist, this book does not disappoint.
Natalie and Will, some might say are not good people. But, maybe they are. I loved them and I felt for both of them. They were so real. Margot Hunt made these characters so much more than words on a page. I found myself hating them, loving them then totally rooting for them.
No more. I can't or I will say too much and you deserve to be surprised. Like I was.

Thank you #NetGalley, the publisher and the author, Margot Hunt for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. Honestly, I wish I didn't wait so long to read this. 10 stars and a beautiful cover.

What would you do to protect your child from a predator is you knew exactly how the justice systems works, and how victims are often treated? That is the dilemma posed in For Better and Worse for married couple, Nat and Will Clarke, two attorneys who have jokingly stated on their first date together how they could get away with a crime due to their knowledge of the justice system. But when their son, Charlie, is sexually abused by his principal at school, Nat and Will are put to the test. Nat, a criminal defense attorney, has represented her fair share of accused molesters, and she is aware how the victims are often ripped apart in court, causing them to doubt themselves, and their experience of what was done to them. So when Charlie confesses to what his principal did to him, Nat devises a plan to take revenge into her own hands, and plans to murder the principal, who happened to be an old neighbor and friend of her and Will. Will, an estate attorney, wants to go to the police, but drops it after Nat convices him to not report it and have Charlie see a therapist. But when Nat goes to execute her plan, and things don't go as she expected, she has to bring Will into the murder in order to follow through, and unfortunately, their alibi isn't as airtight as she has hoped and thought it would be. Will, who has his own secrets, begins to wonder if this can really be the same person that he married, and Nat has her own concerns about her husband's devotion to their family. For Better and Worse was a quick read, and it kept me interested and entertained throughout, while raising the question, do we ever really know what someone is capable of? Highly recommend!

Thank you MIRA for allowing me to read For Better and Worse for an honest review.

Nat and Will were not sympathetic characters to me. The whole novel felt predictable since they discussed most of the plot in the first chapter. Nothing that occurred after felt shocking or particularly interesting.

Very rarely do I have trouble writing a review and this is one of them. There are two stories here. One is about a troubled marriage and the other the principal of their son’s school is in trouble for molesting a child. Both stories meld into one big cluster of a mess. To say I loved it is the wrong word. This brought me so many emotions. The ending was just WOW! I can’t wait to read more of Margot Hunt’s books. 5 stars!

How can two really smart people be so dumb.... escpecially a criminal defender. I didn't like the fact that we knew what was going on and you were just waiting to see what would happen. It was not exciting or thrilling and i wanted to be at the edge of my seat but I was not. I didn't like the alternating point of views. And they got away with it....

I'm sorry I didn't not like it very much

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC

This is a thriller about a couple , Natalie and William who met in law school. . The book starts out on their first date and a question they debate is : Would they be able to plan and get way with murder? Seems an innocent debate but 15 years later after they marry, start careers and have a child , Charlie now 11 years old, the question comes back up after a horrible crime comes to light.
Their innocent son is hurt and their primary goal is to protect him. Is it possible to plan, execute and get away with the perfect murder? The book is fast paced, exciting and nail biting. I was never bored and surprised at the twists and turns in the story.
This is a complex story with the dynamics between Nat and Will , the crime , their jobs and also the relationships in their small town . It is so thought provoking , What would you do to protect someone you love ?
I would heartily recommend this thriller.

A good fast faced thriller that held my attention. Easy fast reading...between my nail and hair appointment I finished it in a day! My ONLY qualm was thatvthe author kept referring to the Intracoastal Waterway as the Intracoastal River?? That’s not even a thing! But overall a good book!

I hate to give negative feedback on books, but I can’t really rave about For Better and Worse. The opening was interesting with the lead characters, Natalie and Will on their first date during their law-school years where they talked about being smart enough to get away with murder. (I think that might have been a warning sign for the relationship.)
Flash forward a few years and they have been married a long time and their marriage is not in a great place. Their 11 year old son, Charlie has a traumatic incident in his life and knowing the legal system as she does, Natalie thinks the best course of action would be to commit mirder rather than put Charlie through the judicial process. Of course Will gets dragged into the plan and the rest of the book is spent determining if they will get caught.
Let me be clear, Natalie and Will are loathesome characters; manipulative, controlling, disloyal, elitist, vengeful, condescending, obnoxious people. Natalie thinks nothing of defending the worst of the worst as a defense attorney, but thinks her situation is above the law? And while what happened to Natalie and Will’s son is horrible, I think it’s extremely questionable to immediately jump to murder being the only punishment fitting the crime.

I appreciate the author keeping the harm done to the children to a palatable level, but by doing so, it makes Natalie’s and Will’s actions seem so extreme as to be unbelievable.

Margot Hunt is clearly a good writer and with a stronger, more believable plot, I would definitely read more by her. This one just didn’t work for me.

How far could you go to avenge your child? The synopsis of this novel sounds like it should be a season of How to Get Away with Murder. This novel is set in Florida and alternates between a wife and husband duo at different time gaps. When they find out that their son has been sexually assaulted by his school principal Natalie decides to get her own justice and pulls Will in too. After all, on their first date they discussed how to get away with murder. However they soon discover that they may not be as versed in getting away with murder as they thought.
I did find the story slow at times and I did not like either of the main characters however, I really did enjoy the ending which helped redeem the story for me overall. 3.5 stars!

Alternating perspectives between wife and husband, Nat and Will, this adult revenge thriller follows them on a dangerous road to vengeance after their son admits to them he was molested by his school principal.

Natalie, a criminal defense attorney, and Will, a civil attorney, met in law school. In fact, on their very first date they discuss how they have all the information necessary to get away with murder.
But talking about murder versus the act of murder are two extraordinarily different animals.

Full of domestic strife, Nat and Will eventually learn to work together and to reassess what is important in their marriage and their life. They are both highly unlikable characters, in my opinion. Nat is an demanding and overly organized twat while Will is an adulterer and a whiner.

I personally never felt like I really connected to the story and the end felt too rushed and too convenient. It explored some interesting topics, which is why I rounded up to three stars, but overall nothing really blew me away here, or even really kept me interested.

Thank you so much to the publisher, Harlequin - MIRA, for the advanced copy to read and review. I always appreciate the opportunity to provide my honest opinion on the books I am lucky enough to read. Although this book didn't work real well for me, I am sure there are many people out there who will enjoy it a lot!

Love thrillers with married couples as the main characters! Such a great book and one part surprised me and caught me off guard! Loved it!!!

On first scan of this book summary, I wasn't sure it would hook me. The vigilante murder angle just didn't really catch my attention right off the bat, but I figured it might be an interesting deviation from the gazillions of other domestic thrillers I'd been reading recently.

Overall, the writing is engaging and I did find myself absorbed in the story...at first. While neither main character is particularly likable, I found Will's perspective particularly annoying (he's the cliche downtrodden husband whose controlling wife causes him to get involved in an affair with a coworker) and didn't particularly feel that his angle added to the story.

Nat and Will are forced to deal with the outcome of a poorly executed vigilante justice attempt, that is in some ways almost bafflingly bad. Considering the backgrounds of the characters, it's almost hard to believe some of the choices that they made. I think we're supposed to assume that they were scrambling under pressure, but (as many reviews have also pointed out) anyone who has every seen any episode of any crime TV show ever probably could have anticipated many elements of this disaster.

The book is entertaining enough, but it's frustrating at times and just not particularly memorable.
