Wow! Very unique and intriguing book. Such a difficult topic to write about but this author did a great job. Kept me reading on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns. Really makes you think and wonder what you or someone would do in this situation. Ending was not what I was expecting but it was good. Highly recommend this book!

Will and Natalie met in law school and were married. They have a son, Charlie, who is 11 years old. Will buffed up his appearance, while Nat became more controlling and suspicious of Will. One day, Nat noticed the police at Charlie's school when she dropped him off. Her best friend, Mandy told her that Principal Gibbons was arrested!
At a parent meeting and at a "bar meeting" that followed, the rumors were flying. Yes, and more than once, Gibbons had been accused of molesting a student.


Charlie finally admits to his mother that he had been one of the principal's targets. Will was really angry and said that they needed to call the police. Nat, being a criminal attorney, said NO, and explained her reasoning.


"No, we're going to kill Robert (Gibbons)"


She planned the murder, alone. Oxycodone was obtained via a shady client of hers' and she dropped Charlie off at grandma's. Since a few years ago, Will and Nat had been good friends with Robert and his now ex-wife, Nat hoped that a gesture of "goodwill" - an expensive bottle of liquor - would help her do the deed.

Yes, Robert was glad to see her. She plied him with oxy tainted liquor and he fell asleep! She became desperate. When she found a bottle of oxy in Robert's medicine cabinet she realized that his tolerance was built up and he would not necessarily die from the spiked drinks. She calls Will in desperation. He abruptly leaves his mistress, Jaime, and meets Nat at Robert's home. He smothers Robert with a pillow and Robert
dies.

The police follow up the murder and as time passes, Nat is quite calm but Will is dreading each day. Soon Will has to admit to his affair to secure an alibi. The shady client is arrested for parole violations. He didn't call Nat to lawyer-up. She visits him in prison and asks why, this time, he didn't call her. He tells her, "...conflict of interest."

… and the fun just begins...



Very good read! Enjoyable and good character development. I do recommend.

A suspenseful web of lies and a fast-paced page turner!

Will are Natalie are a married couple that met in law school. Years into their marriage, Will gets bored and starts having an affair with a coworker. His mistress leaves her husband and pressures Will to leave Natalie, but it isn’t that easy. Will and Natalie have a son together...and then there’s the murder they just committed together.

The book doesn’t necessarily leave unanswered questions, but it leaves an opening for another book to pickup where this one ended.

This was a good read with an unrealistic ending. During the climax of the story, I was on the edge of my seat. My pulse was racing, not knowing where the story would go and what would happen. I was invested in the characters and didn’t want to see them arrested for murder. I was worried about their son Charlie and what would happen to him if his parents were taken into custody. I felt as if this was my nighmare and this was my family. I would have given the book 4 stars, if the ending was wrapped up in a different way.
The ending would never happen in real life, even in a small town.

I love the cover. At first I wasn't sure about this book because it kind of reminded me of The Murder Game by Catherine McKenzie which was excellent, so this one didn't stand a chance. I was wrong on so many levels. I couldn't get enough of this story. I had to know what was going to happen. Could they really get away with it?! It was so suspenseful! I liked Natalie. I liked how their family seemed normal - both parents loved their kid and would do anything for him, after many years of marriage Natalie and Will weren't as close as they used to be, good people making bad choices. Did I mention the suspense? Constantly worrying if today would be the day they'd be thrown in jail. So good. Margot Hunt's "Best Friends Forever" has been on my TBR list forever. I definitely won't be putting that one off any longer!

I loved this one! This book is unique when put into the mystery/thriller category and I was so engaged with the characters and storyline throughout the entire book. I was not sure how this one was going to end but I was surprised and satisfied with how the author decided to finish it. Although some of the situations and topics in the book are difficult I think the author did a good job at making me understand and feel what Will and Natalie were feeling and thinking in regards to their son which ultimately played into their actions. I can't praise this book enough. I loved everything about it. The writing is to the point without excruciating details. The characters are believable, likeable and relatable. The plot is fresh and unlike anything I have ever read.The story moves at such a quick pace that it left me breathless at times. The author doesn't allow time for the reader to digest what just happened before she throws the next curve ball at you. Unrelenting, absorbing drama. I can't wait to see what comes next from this author.

Very good story, had me trying to guess how it could have any kind of satisfying ending. All I can say is it did and it didn't. The ending was surprising, and life changing but not in the way I was expecting. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I had so much fun with For Better and Worse. This was a unique and fast-paced thriller and I loved just about all of it. This was a murder mystery but with an unexpected (and delightful) twist.

For Better and Worse is about Nat and Will; husband and wife who met in law school and on their first date, discussed the ways in which they could get away with the perfect murder. How they would do it, what they would do, and the evidence they would be sure to hide. Now, 14 years, a child, and a shaky marriage later, they have to put their skills to the test.

When their son Charlie's principal is accused of molesting a child at Charlie's school, Nat and Will are horrified. Then, they soon find out that Charlie is one of the victims. Full of hatred, rage and anguish, Nat and Will decide to take the law into their own hands and serve the school principal the justice they feel he deserves. Two upstanding lawyers are about to become murderers (or, vigilantes, depending on who you ask). The novel then takes you on the heart-stopping journey of lies, betrayal and deceit as Nat and Will see if they can win the biggest game of their lives - getting away with murder.

There were a lot of aspects of this novel that I devoured, but mainly, I loved that this was not your old, run-of-the-mill murder mystery. When you read a lot, it can be hard to find authors that bring you a story that you haven't heard before. Stories can quickly become predictable and overused, and when you read a book that shatters those assumptions, it feels really good. I loved that I was able to know the plot, culprits and victim before I picked up the book but I was still left completely and utterly surprised.

The character development in For Better and Worse was also incredibly strong. From Nat's POV, you are entrenched in the shame that she felt as a mother that she wasn't able to fully protect her son from the monster's that hide in plain sight. You could feel her rage as she listened to his son describe the event that changed his life forever. From Will's POV, you experience the primal fear and disgust when he realizes what he has done and has to do in the name of reaping justice for his son. I am not a parent, but I can imagine that I would feel the same fear and rage as both Will and Nat do if faced with a situation like this.

Finally, I loved that my normal was of thinking was totally and completely challenged. This book was not at all black and white, even though for the most part, murder is always black and white. You find yourself forgiving and excusing the actions of people who may not deserve your forgiveness or excuses. You find yourself asking the question of, "would I have done anything different?" Even after the shocking ending, you won't be able to stop yourself from asking that question over and over again.

4.5 stars! I was hooked within the first few pages! The suspense was thrilling and kept me wanting to read more. I appreciated the inclusion of narrating the story from both main characters points of view for the different parts of the novel. I think the ending could have been fleshed out a little more, but it was a great read regardless!

Such a riveting book! Couldn't put it down and will definitely be reccomending it to customers at my work!

On Natalie and Will’s first date during law school, they joke about how they could commit the perfect murder-- perfect, of course, meaning that they would get away with it. They had no idea that a decade later, they’d need to do exactly that.

When a student accuses the school principal of molesting him, Natalie and Will quickly find out that their son, Charlie, is also a victim of the principal’s abuse. Natalie quickly decides that using the legal system to seek justice will be too strenuous and emotionally damaging for her son. She quickly decides that she must murder the pedophilic principal and asks her husband to help.

This isn’t any old mystery novel. For Better and Worse is told from a sympathetic point of view of parents who, by trying to protect their child, become murderers. It is suspenseful and exhilarating as Will and Natalie try to navigate the aftermath of their crime and maintain their innocence in the face of all the evidence that points directly to them.

This novel is a mystery/suspense type book. Natalie and Will met when they were in college, both become lawyers and are married with one child. When the principal of their son's school is put on leave for possible child molestation and later they find out their child was one of the victims things get on edge. I liked the beginning of this book but as it got into the middle I just wanted it over with. Natalie is one very unlikable character and Will isn't much better. I skipped most of the book just to get to the end and find out what happens.

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was great, I had a hard time putting it down. The characters were great too.
Of course because this was an early addition, there were lots of spelling and sentence structure errors. But I was able to look past it to the story.
There were only 2 things I wasn't sure about. The main character had stated she had a dislike for a woman that happens to be in her circle and yet she went to her home and had dinner with her. It was a bit confusing. I kept wondering if Laura was the name of 2 characters in the story.
The other thing I wasn't sure of was the ending. It felt like it ended too quickly, or that maybe the husband and wife hadn't really learned from anything in the year of when everything happens. And yet...isn't that life? We make promises to the world if everything could be alright we will do different if only....but learn nothing from it and continue on. The end just feels incomplete somehow.
Over all tho, this book had me hooked. I couldn't stop thinking about it when I wasn't reading it. Feels like there could be a second book....which I would not be opposed to reading. I'm curious to what happens next with Will and Nat.

I wasn't too sure what to expect of this book, but it gripped me, I read it in two days.

Will and Natalie met at law school and have it all, except a happy marriage. The one thing they do both adore is their son, Charlie.

Charlie's principle is suspended due to allegations of inappropriate behaviour with a minor. The minor in question is a foster kid with a history of bad behaviour and telling lies. The parent's from the school start to think it's a fabricated story, especially Will and Natalie who were friends with the principle when they first moved to Florida. There's no way the principle could be capable of this and as a defence attorney, Nat even thinks she might be able to help him. That is until Charlie drops a bombshell, he is a victim of the principle's advances.

This turns Will and Natalie's life upside down and for two people who are lawyers and have knowledge on how the justice system works, they decided to commit the perfect murder....

I enjoyed this book and was glad it gave a full conclusion at the end. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion.

You will be wondering until the end if they can pull it off and will their marriage fall apart? This book will leave you questioning who you can trust and if it is ever justified to take another life.

For Better and Worse is a dark novel with a dark topic, child abuse. The suspense made it a good novel. It was chilling. An unusual premise (think Angela Davis in the Netflix-series 'How to get away with murder') leaves a couple - seasoned criminal defense attorney Nathalie Clarke and her cheating husband Will - struggling with the consequences. Not your typical thriller, but highly entertaining.

Law students Will and Natknow that they’re smarter than the average criminal who always gets caught. They discuss whether it would be possible to get away with murder. Years later they get the chance to test their theory. An excellent story that leaves the reader questioning his/her own beliefs.
