Tragedy, loss, returning home and finding your true north are part of this musician’s story in Whiskey River Rockstar by Justine Davis. Third in the series, it has a different feel than the first two books. Still it has the same sense of place and characters that you like as well as learn to appreciate the decisions that they have made. There are ties to the other books in the series especially second book. However, Jamie and Zee’s story is complete in itself.

This is a second chance small-town romance that will leave you will a smile at the end. The journey for Jamie Templeton has been one of highs and lows, so it is satisfying seeing him work to find his place with his music, forgiveness and to reclaim his lost love. Zee Mahan is worth the effort. Whiskey River Rockstar, like the first two books has an emotional intensity to it that makes it a satisfying moving read.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Whiskey River Rockstar by Justine Davis, a great addition to the Whiskey River series. This is the third book in the series. A second chance at love storyline. A small town heart-warming story. I enjoyed the characters especially Zee and Jamie, their dialogue and storyline. I look forward to reading more in this series and more by Justine Davis.

I really enjoyed this book. Jamie and Zee both style my heart. Friends from the time they were teenagers, due to a tragedy no child should have to face, they grew closer. Before he hit it big with his band, they finally made love, even though he was honest and let her know he was leaving town as soon as his band was ready. Fire years he never came home, except for a few emergencies
Zee always held it against him and acted as though she hated him. When he comes home, after a band member dies, he is so desolate that she tries to put the resentment on the back burner. But, old habits due hard.
As they work together on his aunt's house, they start to become friends again, but is that all they are meant to be now? He isn't ready to b open up completely and she isn't ready to let him back in completely. While finding their way individually, they are also trying to muddle through feelings that they thought they left behind. Will he be able to open up to get completely? Will she believe what he has to say? Can they each take responsibility for their part in their strained relationship? The banter and emotion they both showed was spot on. I also really liked the fact that Ms. Davis didn't rush any part of the story. It was also nice seeing the characters from the other books in this series, especially since they each had a significant purpose.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

What a wonderful book! I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I did not read books 1 or 2 but wish I had as I missed much of the backstory about Hope and True and Kelsey and Deck. Our story feature Zee and Jamie. Jamie returned home after a long absence as he was the frontman of a successful rock band. He left Whiskey River to chase his dreams as a rock singer. Jamie and Zee were lovers and soulmates. She urged him to go make his music while dying from the loss of him. Jamie’s new bandmate had just overdosed and he wasn’t able to write music any longer. Zee has a lot of anger and hurt from his leaving and not coming home. Jamie’s aunt had passed away and he returned briefly for her funeral. He inherited her house and works to restore it while trying to restore his former relationship with Zee. This was a heartwarming love story. I highly recommend it and was so happy to be able to read it.
