I didn't realize this was the second in a series until maybe two chapters in, so my enjoyment probably isn't as accurately reflective as someone who is actually invested and caught up in the series. Still, though, this was a really cute and festive middle-grade book! There was actually a lot more emotion and depth to it (bullying, dead parent, etc.) than I was expecting going in, but I don't think it's anything MG-level kiddos couldn't handle. I can't say if I would recommend the series as whole, since I didn't read the first book, but this one was fun enough as a standalone!

Rosa releases ghost that had been trapped to save her city. Now these supernatural beings are stealing children's voices and it is up to her to solve this mystery of why and how to get them back. Her best friend, Jasper, is dealing with ghost battling each other. Can they get all ghost to come to an agreement. A cute book about acceptance and understanding, while helping those around you. Readers do need to start with the first book before reading the second. Cute series that will keep young ones entertained and nice to follow the story of the two main characters.

"Rosa Ramona Diaz, the ghost appeasing assistant librarian, has unleashed all the ghosts who were previously shut out of the small town of Ingot. Now ghosts are everywhere, and the town’s living residents are either learning to cope or trying to do the one thing no one can successfully do—banish the ghosts."
I didnt know this was a sequel. But I read it anyway and loved it! Great little spooky read for your little on!

Great tone balancing humor and real emotion as two kids deal with ghosts and petty schoolkids whose bullying sometimes rises to the level of real harm (both the ghosts and the kids). And an extra twist of a secret about her dead dad raises the emotional stakes.
