It took me too long to remember to review this. I can't recall too much but what I do remember is that it is a heartwrenching and tense read.

I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this. The plot was okay, if not sometimes boring. But not terrible at all. It had high and low points.

WOW--I never saw that twist coming near the end of the book. Fantastic!

Highly recommended.

4 took me by surprise stars

I must say that Emily Bleeker is quickly becoming one of my go to authors. I believed The Waiting Room seemed like a classic family drama, but there were more than a few surprises in store that made me quickly lose track of time. This is definitely one of my contenders for the most gut wrenching climax. I would highly recommend this as a good choice for a book club option.

I have loved all of Emily's books and this one does not disappoint. Her main character Veronica is so relatable. I think you will find as you are reading -- you are hooked. You can't put it down. You want to know what happened to Veronica's baby and why can't she hold her. You feel bad for her, you will root for her and most of all you will love her and want to hug her at the end.

Such a thrilling page-turner. I did not want to put this book down. Emily Bleeker had me hooked from page one. I devoured this book and will read anything she writes going forward!

Given the title of this psychological and domestic thriller, I was expecting something a bit different than what the story actually was. The main story follows a woman, Veronica, who has experienced loss in her life and agrees to see a therapist to help her.

I figured out the main twist pretty early on, but that only fed into my reading through the remainder, seeing how things twisted together to get to the conclusion I was anticipating. There were still reveals I didn’t see coming, and while the middle was a bit slow for me, I did enjoy the beginning as well as the ending and how things wrapped up.

I would recommend this thriller to anyone that enjoys domestic thrillers centered around motherhood, postpartum depression, and family dynamics.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book. Unfortunately it’s not the book for me. DNF @ 18%.

This is a great read and a well-detailed plot that kept me engaged from the very start. I really liked the well-thought-out characters and found them to be believable. I cannot wait to read what the author publishes next.

Veronica’s child is missing.

This is part mystery novel, part psychological story about what and who is missing and how the heartbreak can lead and mislead us.

This is a novel with the quite unreliable narrator and a couple of twists, some of what I was able to see coming, some not.
You are in a capable hands here, the authoress knows what she is doing - but it is not what you think you know.
Without saying anything more - I like the final chapter a lot and the last sentence is the key for healing.

The Waiting Room by Emily Bleeker

Brief Summary: Veronica is experiencing significant post-partum depression after the birth of her baby. When her baby disappears, Veronica is seen as a suspect rather than a victim. She takes matters into her own hands to find her baby. With the help of a new friend, she tries to find her baby and her mother who has also vanished. This is my first book by Emily Bleeker. I was interested in it because of the mental health post-partum depression aspect.

Highlights: The last third of the book was riveting as I was trying to figure out exactly what happened. I of course loved the focus on mental health treatment and her relationship with her therapist. Her postpartum depression was portrayed well, as you could hear her depression talking to her and she had her mother taking care of most child care duties. I will say that some aspects of this novel were hard to believe and required me to suspend disbelief. I did not see several big twists coming.

Explanation of Rating: 3/5 This book has some good twists and information on mental health.

I expected the Waiting Room to keep me captivated, however I found it to be just another domestic drama. The narrator was unpredictable in a way that was not enjoyable. It was slow moving, but I was interested in finishing to see if anything got more "twisty".

Thank you for netgalley for a copy to review.

Lots of twists and turns in this wild ride. Lots of suspense, you don't know who to believe & it keeps you guessing. This is a quick & binge-worthy thriller!

I really like this book and it totally took me by surprise. There were enough twists and turns to keep it exciting and it was that! I am now going to go look for other stuff that Emily has written and see if I like that just as much, I have recommended this book to friends.

I have given this a few days before reviewing it, and I still am uncertain what to say. It was not a page-turner for me. It wasn't predictable per se. In fact, about three times I thought Sophie had gone missing but she hadn't. But it always wasn't a scintillating mystery. I thought it was written well, but I think I'm just over the idea of such unreliable protagonists. I like to have to figure out a mystery, and I almost would rather it be a little predictable than to find out in the end that the protagonist is actually unreliable. This wasn't the same as Girl on the Train where she knew all along, as did the reader, that she wasn't quite remembering things right. I didn't mind that so much. That was mysterious. But the way it was done in this particular book felt cheap. The premise could have gripped me, but it just didn't. It had all the right pieces to make a good book but it fell short for me. I don't even know if I'll remember it when I look back at my read list.

Creepy. Almost too sad as a mother to read but interesting and I couldn’t stop once I’d started. I love Emily Bleeker’s writing!

I thought The Waiting Room was just ok. The first half was slow and boring. The second half picked up especially with the "twist" but even that was predictable. I found the characters annoying and the story unbelievable.
