Emily Bleeker does it again. I cried my eyes out at the end of this book. The story is amazing. The characters are amazing. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! So there I am just little ol' innocent me reading what seems to be a story about a lady named Veronica who lost her husband Nick in a car crash and who has such bad postpartum depression that she can no longer hold her little baby Sophie. Okay, so no. That is not what is going on. But urgghh! I can't tell you what's going on because you HAVE to read this book for yourself. I was blown away by the series of events that happened and by characters who said they were someone when they really weren't. The surprises are never-ending in this book. I honestly don't know how Emily Bleeker does it. Ok, now I'm gushing. Grab a copy of this book and you'll see why. The surprises don't end until the very last page where your heart sinks deep into your stomach and you're left wanting to fix all the crazy things that have happened to this poor woman. Five stars to The Waiting Room.

Thank you to Netgalley, Emily Bleeker, and Lake Union Publishing for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Veronica's husband and baby disappear mysteriously one night. While her baby is returned safely, her husband dies mysteriously. Veronica begins to experience symptoms of Post Partum Depression as a result and begins seeing a therapist at her mother's bequest. She meets Gillian in the therapist's waiting room and they become reluctant allies and friends when Veronica believes her baby has gone missing again and no one seems to believe her.

I was looking forward to a fun female thriller, but this book was maddeningly frustrating. It felt vague and mysterious for the sake of being vague and mysterious. Starting with the first chapter where the baby and husband go missing, I was so confused why there was no explanation as to what had happened until the last 20 pages (how did her husband die, how was the baby rescued). By the time the final twist is revealed, it's so clunky and unearned. Characters exist for the sole reason of being mysterious and hiding information rather than driving the story engine (the cops don't answer questions, there's lots of staring but no talking). Veronica comes across as batshit crazy and unsympathetic (she's hysterical probably 75% of the book), and i spent most of the time thinking her friend Gillian was a figment of her imagination only to find out she actually did exist and she had her own special secret that also felt painfully unearned (like dropped out of nowhere with no clues whatsoever). I will admit I am not a parent and do not know much about PDD, so I may not have been the right audience for this book or able to relate to Veronica the way other readers might. Further, the resolution, while clunky, may appease readers who are just looking for a lightning fast read with a crazy twist at the end. I appreciate the advance copy, but I can't recommend this one.

I never read anything by this author before, but am looking forward to in the future. I really enjoyed this twisty thriller.
Veronica suffered from postpartum depression after the birth of her sweet baby girl Sophie. Sophie found herself becoming reclusive, and unable to care for her baby as she couldn't even pick her up. Her husband died in a car crash and then her mom moved in to help care for Sophie. To make matters worse, one morning she wakes up to find her baby Sophie is missing.
There are alot of twist and turns and frankly I found I didn't feel I knew was really going on ...lots of surprises in this book.
I want to thank Netgalley and Lakeview Publishing for the advanced copy for an honest review.

This book was very hard to put down. Emily Bleeker did a great job of writing about postpartum depression. After giving birth to a daughter and losing her husband to a drunk driver Veronica’s life is never the same. She can’t touch her baby and stays to herself in a bad depression. Her mother takes care of the baby and finally tells Veronica she has to get help or she’s leaving.

There are four very main characters in this story. Veronica, her mother, two people from her therapy building, Gillian and Mark. She has to learn to trust someone again. Trust that they won’t leave or hurt her.

When Veronica/Ronnie comes home from a night out with Gillian she’s a bit drunk. She made up her mind to go into her baby’s room and touch her. She wakes the next morning to an empty crib and from there this story takes a turn that will not let you go. You will experience so many twists and turns that you won’t know what is going to happen next. It’s one that you won’t soon forget and won’t want to end. Several surprises that you won’t see coming make this a book that must be on your TBR list. The characters are so real and so likable. The story is captivating and so realistic. The ending will make you cry. There is no way around that. Veronica learns to forgive, to live, to have compassion for others and that she is human. Human’s have feelings and it’s ok. Another good book by Emily Bleeker for sure.

This is a great book. A big 5 stars for me.

3 1/2⭐️‘S
This book was a slow starter, but don’t give up! The story really picks up at about the 35% mark and from there is fast paced and crazy! Veronica is quite the unreliable narrator, or is she? This is the first book I’ve read by Emily Bleeker and certainly won’t be my last!!

"Sometimes you run away from the flames, and other times you stay and help put out the fire." This book starts slow, taking its time to build an in-depth world of a woman struggling through post partum depression. But it eventually picks up steam and comes to pack the punch fans of Emily Bleeker have come to expect. This study of a mother's love, depression, and friendship is not to be missed!

I have loved every book I have read by Emily Bleeker so far, so I was super excited when i won a free copy of The Waiting Room on NetGalley in exchange for a review. At first it took me a while to get into this book, but I kept on reading because i was pretty sure it would be worth it and it was!

Emily Bleaker did a great job of leading the reader in one direction throughout The Waiting Room, only to abruptly surprise us with the true story at the end.

I felt as though I was duped by the synopsis of this book. If I had known that it was all about postpartum depression told by an unreliable narrator I would not have picked up this story. I felt disconnected to the characters and I felt that the plot was incomprehensible. Several times I needed to go back wondering what a character was doing. Many pieces were also unbelievable. This read was honestly forgettable.

Thank you to Lake Union Publishing for the digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you to the Lake Union Publishers for this e-galley of The Waiting Room in exchange for an honest review. Veronica Shelton suffers from a postpartum depression that stems from her husband’s death around the time her baby was born. She has trouble sleeping, working and can’t even touch her baby. Her mom had to come live with her to feed and take care of them both. When her daughter goes missing after her first night out in a while, the police start to suspect her and Veronica takes things into her own hands.
I do love a good unreliable narrator thriller. This one was quite fast paced and had quite a few elements to follow. I ended up predicting a lot of it but not everything. A good quick read, nothing mind blowing but certainly an interesting concept! Publishes August 28, 2018

The Waiting Room is a tough book to review without giving anything away. It is a highly emotional read but I found it a quick read and finished it in an evening. I have previously read books by the author and couldn't wait to read this....and then I could not put it down. There is a lot happening, and at times I was in tears for the characters and what they were going through.

Veronica's life was turned upside down when her husband was killed in a car crash. Her baby girl survived the crash but now she is having trouble bonding with her, even struggling to pick her up. She is finally starting to go to therapy to help her with her post partum depression. When she returns from a session to find her house broken into and her daughter missing she soon becomes the suspect and not the victim. The only way to get her daughter back is to do it herself. The ending is incredible and I didn't see it coming.

Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased

Stick with this one through the set up and you'll be rewarded with a well done psychological thriller and a twist at the end that will surprise you. Veronica is dealing with a lot- the loss of her husband, the birth of her daughter, dealing with her post partum depression. Then things get worse, when she goes at it with her mother, who has been caring for her daughter. Then the baby disappears. Keep your eye on Gillian and Mark, and on what you think is real and what is not. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It's a good fast read.

This is the first book that I have read by this author, but it won't be the last. Veronica is having issues after she had her baby and can't take care of her. She hasn't been able to hold her in months and is going to therapy to work through her issues. She is trying everything to work through her issues so she will be able to take care of her sweet Sophie again. But then she wakes up one day and Sophie is gone. Who took her? Veronica is desperate to find her child. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to give away any of the twists. Let me say I didn't see any of them coming and this book kept me on the edge of my seat.
Thanks Netgalley and Lake Union for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Publication Date is August 28, 2018.

I was excited to read this but the story fell flat for me. I thought it was very very slow and there was a lot of unnecessary detail/sub-story. I had a very hard time continuing to read it and finishing it. I also felt like the whole premise of what happened was very farfetched and you had to really be able to stretch your beliefs to be able to enjoy the story, which I wasn't able to do. I also didn't attach to Veronica or Gillian, I felt they were both weak characters that were not very likable. Mark was just a farfetched bizarre character, that I couldn't even deal with him being so included in the situation.

If you like your reality to be far fetched with crazy twists and turns then you may like this book, but it wasn't for me.

Thank you to both NetGalley & Lake Union Publishing for an advanced copy of The Waiting Room. The story definitely grabs you from the first page. Veronica has just given birth to her daughter Sophie. She’s suffering from PPD and she awakes to both her husband Nick and her daughter Sophie missing. The story unfolds from there and is a twisty, suspense ride to the end. I recommend this to anyone who enjoyed reading thriller and suspense.

This is a thrillingand fast-paced ride.

Veronica loses her husband soon after giving birth to her daughter Sophia. His death was devastating and in conjunction with postpartum depression these events have left Veronica emotionally vulnerable and unable to cope on her own.

One day, Veronica returns to her home after a counseling session and finds her baby gone. The police are not being as helpful and she wishes, so she takes it upon herself to find her daughter.

This was a fast-paced book with unexpected turns. I can't reveal much about the book except that I recommend it to readers of thrillers, mysteries and contemporary fiction.

N ick & Veronica and their baby girl Sophie seem to be the perfect family, but all is not well.

Veronica wakes up one night when she hears Sophie crying, she discovers both Nick and Sophie are missing..
(.We later learn that Nick was killed in some sort of accident). when she sees his car is gone she thinks he took Sophie for a drive to quiet her.

She gets a text message from him "I'm sorry, it was my fault_.

Six months later finds Veronica's mom living with her as she battle post partum depression. She cannot bring herself to touch Sophie.

She is a children's book illustrator and her drawings of a little blond girl running for her life are upsetting because she doesn't remember drawing them.

She becomes friends with a man she meets in her therapist's waiting room who tells her he works at a bank-he is actually a Private Investigator.

When Sophie goes missing again she asks for his help in finding her.

She finds Sophie and rescues her. However the baby isn't Sophie but the daughter of Nick's second wife.

It turns out that Sophie died when she was in kindergarten, she was on the school bus which was on its way to her school on a rainy morning when it was struck by a drunk driver ( who was the son of her g=friend Gillian) .

This was a very confusing story to follow; going back and forth in time and through Veronica's "memories", I had figured out early on the Veronica was mentally unstable and couldn't get over her grief of Nick dying and Sophie being injured in the car accident but I couldn't figure out how Sophie went missing the second time.

I could in no way imagine that Sophie was actually dead.
