Emily Bleeker has completely captivated me. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book that I couldn’t put down. This one definitely fit the bill. My heart broke for Veronica so many times in this book. There were several times I thought I knew where the plot was heading but I was wrong!

I felt like almost everyone was a suspected villain at one point or another. I definitely need to re-read to see if I missed any clues.

I’m so glad I found “The Waiting Room,” and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers.

Veronica is a new mother to a baby girl - whose birth happened to coincide with the death of her husband. Post partum depression takes ahold of Veronica and makes her question her sanity - especially when her own daughter comes up missing. Who in her life is keeping secrets? Is she losing grip on reality?
This book keep me guessing AND kept me reading until the very end! I normally don't finish a book so quickly but this one had me intrigued from the premise to the last page. It's heart wrenching and keeps you rooting for Veronica!
Thank you to Emily Bleeker, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this entertaining book!

I loved the author's first book, Wreckage, so was pretty enthusiastic to read this one. Initially was not sure how it would go, but when it finally clicked...I said something akin to OMG out loud and had to put down the book for a second. I think I woke up my husband. If you're into a slam/bang kind of ending: read this one.
It was great.

Somebody get my Chiropractor on the line! I think I have whiplash from all the twists and turns! What a ride!

Emily Bleeker can consistently weave a story like nobody's business and The Waiting Room is no exception!
Just when you think you have it all figured out - WHAM! Whiplash. I cannot even explain my love for her writing, and the way she crafts these incredibly suspenseful stories. Knocked this one out of the park. Totally out of the park and past the parking lot, and across the highway... It's so hard to give any synopsis of the story without spoiling too much. It's just that good. There were about 4-5 scenarios I had going on i my head as to the direction this was going, and I was wrong about them all!

Just after children's book illustrator Veronica Shelton's daughter is born, tragedy strikes. Her loving, smart, funny, doting-father husband is killed and her entire life falls apart So, so badly. It's so bad that grieving Veronica can't even TOUCH her own baby daughter. She thinks she's a terrible mother, is now having her own mother taking over most of her child's duties, and is clinging onto hope she can somehow get over this through a new therapist, and very carefully, slow, tiny baby steps. But then strange things start to happen - a break-in, weird figures in her book illustrations, and then - the unthinkable. Her daughter goes missing.

Incompetent police seem to turn the tables on her and she begins to feel like a suspect. Targeted because of her fragile mental state since losing her beloved husband. Veronica decides she's going to finally be the mother that Sophie deserves, and go out and find her daughter on her own. With some strange new friends and the shreds of motherly instinct that remain inside her - she sets off to do just that.

....and cue the whiplash. Just when you think you've got it figured out. Nope, try again. That person's a good guy? Sorry - not the case! Everything going to be OK? Um... hahaaaaa! Nice try. And that ending.. PHEW! Shocker after insanely clever shocker!

Now, I like to think I'm not totally dim, and can be fairly clever at figuring things out. But Emily Bleeker is SO good at making you feel so silly for even thinking you had ANY idea what was going on. She's definitely one of my favorite authors and I was totally thinking about sending her my chiropractor bill, but it just didn't seem fair seeing as how fun the ride was :)

I know I am in the minority when I say I did not love this book. I finished it, but skimmed a lot.

Recently there are so many 'crazy women' books out there - it seems like any 'women's suspense' book these days has a storyline where the main character, a woman, is 'crazy'.

Delusional. Unsettled. Deranged. Demented.

Take your pick.

Because I am one of the few women on this planet who did not love this book, I cannot recommend it. Based solely on my own needs to read a book about a strong woman and not one who is so involved in her grief that she goes crazy.
Seriously. This was just too much for me.

So thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this book. I know others will love it much more than I did.

This was an incredible book! I finished it in one day, and had tears streaming down my face when it ended. It portrays the powerful force that motherhood is, and what we will do for the children we love.

Great book. A little slow in spots, but the twists in the last few chapters, wow, especially how the characters were connected, and the final big reveal.

Oooh, yes. This one is good. Very good. What a wild ride Bleeker takes the reader on with Veronica's dark and twisty story. This novel paints a clear picture of what can happen to a grieving mother after a tragic life event. Mental illness consumes Veronica and tears her family life apart.
I did predict a few things throughout the course of the novel, but was definitely shocked at the end. This psychological thriller kept me on the edge of my seat with fingernails severely bitten! Lots of twists and turns! Thank you, NetGalley for this advance readers' copy in exchange for my honest review.

.Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

This was a well-written book that tugged at my heart. Throughout most of the story I found myself angry one minute with Veronica, mostly when she couldn't bring herself to pick up her own little girl, and the next minute, understanding the depth of her depression and inability to move forward. As reality lines blur, Veronica's story takes several twists that keep you reading to see what is real and what is in her imagination.

A good read that digs deep into our emotional stability and the depths it can sink to when faced with tragedy.

Veronica, suffering from postpartum depression, loves her daughter, Sophie, but can’t really take care of her. After Sophie goes missing she goes on a desperate search for her. The confusion that Veronica is dealing with drew me in. I wanted to understand her situation. It amazes me how denial can so completely change a person’s outlook. Good book.

WOW! What a fabulous book. If you enjoy psychological thrillers that have you guessing what is going on only to find out you were completely wrong, then this is the book for you! From all the twists and turns in the storyline, the complex characters in the book, and watching the main character's story unfold this is a must read to add to your collection.

It was interesting to read about the main characters mental illness and the extent the human mind will go to in order to protect itself from overwhelming loss and grief. Totally didn't expect the few twists at the end of the book! Left me speechless. Loved it!
