when i personally requested this ARC, I promised a fair and honest review in return. I have read Tina Gabrielle before and always enjoy her stories. This proved no exception. strong heroine, alpha male (with just a wee bit of angst to him) and good story line.

Publisher's Description:

London society is cruel for a young woman whose father is an avid gambler. Miss Grace Ashton is not one to stand idly by while her family becomes destitute. Donning a mask, she slips into the night and attends the infamous Raven Club to confront the proprietor. But nothing prepares her for the sinfully attractive and wealthy Ian Swift.

Ian is intrigued when Grace walks into his gambling club but refuses her offer of a few jewels to pay her father’s large debts. Unbeknownst to anyone, Ian has inherited the Earldom of Castleton, and he must reluctantly take his place in Society. But Ian’s manners as a gentleman have suffered. He needs a tutor, and he knows the exquisite lady standing before him is the answer.

But soon tutoring turns to flirting, which unfortunately lands both of them in…marriage?

My Thoughts:

This isn't the best book I have read by this author but it's not bad either. The story felt a little rushed but maybe there was a word limit that was imposed.

I felt it lacked depth of characters and storyline but it isn't unreadable, a good story but not a great one.
There were parts of this tale that I enjoyed very much but other parts that made me ask why?
The strange interaction between Ian and Grace left me baffled at times. Why wouldn't he just tell her why his father hated him so much?
I gave this book 3.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3.75 of 5.0 flames. Although the bride had told her sudden groom prior to their wedding night there would be no intimacy between them she jumped right into bed with him anyway. A head scratcher to be sure...
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book via NetGalley from the publisher to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

This was a well-written, entertaining book. Miss Grace Ashton refuses to stand by while her father gambles away everything they have. She goes to the Raven Club to confront the owner, Ian Swift. Ian has recently inherited an Earldom and makes a bargain with her to be his tutor on the way to behave in Society. Soon they are flirting, and things are no longer as simple as they first seemed. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading others by this author.

How to Tempt an Earl is well written and is quite sensuous, but there are some sticking points I could not get past. Grace Ashton is very strong and resourceful. She is doing everything she can to pay the bills, try to keep her father from gambling away the family funds and protect her young brother.

Ian is very strong and determined, too. He started the Raven Club after refusing to marry the girl his father picked out for him for understandable reasons. The Raven Club is everything to him. It is his life.

Once Grace and Ian are ‘forced’ into marriage due to being caught in a compromising situation, Ian decides to do what is right and marry Grace. There is definitely a quick connection between them. Where I struggle is with Ian telling Grace he will sell the club knowing he does not plan to do so. Her father owed him $6,000 pounds in gambling debt. In Ian’s own words, once they are married she cannot do anything about it. I struggled with his planning to begin their marriage with a huge lie between them. As I continued to read, this was unforgivable to me.

The conversation between Ian and his mother that Grace overhead on her wedding day, would have been the end of a relationship for me. His words about Grace and their reasons for marriage were mean and unkind. I loved the way she stood up to him immediately. Again, signs of a very strong female. But, within hours they are having a quickie in his study on their wedding night as the consummation of their marriage. With her determination of holding him off, you would have thought she would not have given in so quickly to their intimacy.

Absolutely, Ian is generous in his donations to truly worth causes. That does not excuse his blatant lying.

When it comes to gambling, someone is losing money. Ian offers to protect her father and help him with his gambling addiction, but what about others. **SPOILER ALERT** In then end, they keep the club but only allow those who are not addicted to gambling to gamble. Still, someone is losing money; families are losing funds. I guess they think that all peers have money to lose.

The premise of this book is wrong for me. I like my heroes to have a good moral ground. Yes, he is helping tons of people, but a lie is a lie is a lie. I do not believe in bashing books publicly, so I will not post on my normal venues.

This was one of those stories that lands solidly in the middle for me. On one hand the author had a fluid and solid writing style which for me made the story pass by both quickly and interestingly. On the other hand, I feel as though there was more the author could have explored that they did not.

I enjoyed these two characters to a point - however I did not like how quickly Grace seems to capitulate to Ian even after hearing some pretty hurtful things. He was a downright brute in how he spoke after they were married, and yet she seemed pretty keen to overlook both that and her earlier resolve regarding him. There was also the matter of his elder brother's death. It was brought up enough throughout the course of the story (as well as the supposed scandal surrounding it) that I expected it to play a greater role in this story than it actually did.

Overall, this was an enjoyable story that I do believe will appeal to those who enjoy historical romance. I would read more from this author (and in fact, I hope she does future stories on Ian's sisters when they make their debuts as I have no doubt they both have interesting stories to tell).

A delightful read Ian & Grace are immediately attracted to each other but the divide that is the Ravens Club separates them. They both see things as black & white & it’s only after Brooke’s intervention that they start to see the grey. The characters are well portrayed & very likeable, Grace is a whiz at maths & uses her book keeping skills to help keep her household solvent following her father’s downfall into drink & gambling following her mother’s death. Ian has had to survive after he left his home, he’s now a very successful businessman but his use of his profits is unusual.. I loved the way the pair ‘s attraction sizzled & then how they both learned what made the other ’tick’. I found that I was engrossed & read into the early hours to finish this very good start to a new series, I hope Brooke has his HEA

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Lady Grace Ashton, daughter of a troubled baron, attempting to hold her family together. She decides to seek help by asking for assistance from gambling den owner Ian Swift, who demands an exchange. Ian is a sensual devil in disguise and the sparks between this young gentle woman and man of the world become torrid. This author has a way of amping up the anticipation which only added to theheat! The plot thickens as the two characters are unexpectedly forced into a course of action that neither wanted- or did they?
The story has some colorful and endearing characters, and could be the start of a really entertaining series. I recommend it to readers of historical romance, it’s a page turner.

Tina Gabielle's bookwas the typical bad boy (Ian) meeting good girl (Grace). Grace goes to Ian to appeal to him to keep her father out of his gaming establishment. Ian is fascinated by this good girl. So he makes a deal with Grace. He'll keep an eye on her father and forgive his debt, and his gambling, if she'll help him polish his manners, so he cango out in society. She agrees and what follows is the development of a very fine romance with alot of hot chemistry.
I enjoyed this book. It flowed easily. I have it only 4 stars because it was kind of a predictable plot.

What a refreshing approach the author takes in this book set in London, England in the 19th Century. Grace is trying to hide her father’s gambling problems from the ton when she meets Ian, the owner of the very gambling institution her father is deep in debt to. They each have their biases over how life has treated them, which they eventually discover after much anguish, trials, and retribution. Another great book by a talented storyteller.

I am a big fan of Tina Gabrielle, so I knew I would have to read this book as soon as I saw it! I really liked the characters. Right off the bat, I knew that Ian had a lot of growing to do. It took some time, but I feel like he finally shaped up. There was a lot of the chemistry between the two characters, and I will definitely be reading the next book in this series!

Grace Ashton finds herself visiting the new Earl of Castleton at his gaming den; however, she is unaware of his title. Grace visits Ian solely to address the debt that her father owes dues to his gambling. She tries to sell her mother’s jewellery, but Ian manages to turn their encounter into a way to keep Grace coming back again and again. The only problem is their attraction will soon land them into trouble.
This was an enjoyable romance, largely due to the entertaining characters. Their conversations and banter, made this novel an interesting read. I would have liked to read more about Ian’s and Grace’s families as this would have helped flesh out the characters.
I received an advanced review copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun start to a new series! I do love my bad boys who have hidden depths, so I really enjoyed our hero Ian. Ian has recently come into an (unwanted) earldom, which doesn't mesh too well with being the owner of a gaming hell. He can use a refresher course in gentlemanly behavior. So who can assist him? That would be Grace, whose father is a gambling addict. Uh-oh. The sparks begin to fly!

This was a fun, sensual and ultimately sweet Regency romance. If you enjoy stories with a gaming hell locale and fast moving plots, you will definitely enjoy this book. I can't wait to read more about the Raven Club....especially Brooks!

Miss Grace Ashton has been keeping her family afloat since the death of her mother. Her father has turned to drink and gambling to ease his grief amassing a large debt to the infamous Raven Club.
Ian Swift, owner of the Raven Club, never expected to inherit the Earldom from his brother. His mother wants him to re-join society and take his place as the Earl of Castleton. when Grace walks into his gambling club he is intrigued and sees this as an opportunity to relearn the manners he cast aside when he abandoned his former life.
Unable to resist the chemistry between them they are caught in a compromising position and are forced to marry.
I found myself drawn to Grace, she is a smart resourceful woman unafraid to share her opinions and her feelings. Ian is also a complex character with hidden depths. The two were perfect for each other and the story flowed perfectly. Overall a gripping read.

I was drawn to this book by the description. A feisty heroine trying to keep her house together and her father a drunken gambler. She gets a business proposition from a man who needs to learn manners. Being very attractive to each other, the lady finds herself in a compromising situation. What will happen now? Will her reputation be ruined? She has a young brother who depends on her. I loved the book and will read more by this author. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book, but I sometimes felt like it was missing something. I felt like the development of their relationship and marriage was too easy and while there was conflict, I never worried that it wouldn't work out. I liked the characters and I really felt for Grace and the predicament her father placed her in with his gambling and drinking. Ian was likable, but I just feel like I wanted more from this book.

Great story with wonderful chemistry between the h and H. Look forward to more by this author. Our h, desperate to end her fathers gambling and pay off his debts, approaches the H, owner of a gambling hell. Finding the debt far higher than expected, she leaves disappointed. The..
As a new Earl, the H must introduce his two sisters to society, and agrees to forgive her fathers debt, if she will educate him in proper behavior for society. Mutually attracted, they are caught in a compromising position by his mother and a society widow, and must marry. She agrees to marry him only if he gets rid of the club, he agrees, but has no intention of doing so. The couple is really delightful, and I’m sure more books will be coming in this series.

I have read books previously by this author and was excited to read her new read. Grace and Ian had a steamy romance and had great chemistry. There were times I got frustrated with Ian and Grace as some of their decisions didn't make sense or were unkind, especially the things they did on their wedding day. However, the parts I got irritated were far and few between so overall I enjoyed this read and would recommend it.

I was hooked on this book from start to finish. So much raw emotion in this book about what you want and what you think you want and know.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book one in a new series by Tina Gabrielle. I thought that the story had a pretty good premise. I just wish that Ian was less of a jerk. In this book we have a woman who is desperate to stop her father family gambling and she goes to a family gambling hall owner for help. The relationship grows from there. It was a pretty enjoyable read and I am looking forward to more in the series.
