Disturbing and made me very glad to have gone to a normal comprehensive school with no cliques!!

I would give this book 100 stars if I could. I love the Kim Stone series, it just keeps getting better and better. I can never put Angela's books down, she grips you from page 1.
I couldn't believe the ending and didn't expect it in the slightest (don't want to give a spoiler away but I'm not sure how the books will be the same!) was very sad.
I can't wait for her next book, I'm not sure how many there will be in the series but I'm worried the next book is number 9 and I don't want this series to end. I hope there are lots more to come as I don't know what I'd do without it!
Thank you Angela for writing another amazing book and thank you for letting me read and review the book.

This was my first experience with this author and I will definitely go on to read the other books by this author, both in this series and outside of it! I was absolutely thrilling and had me gripped from start to finish, something which I sometimes struggle to get with thriller books as a lot of them are very similar (however I still love them!) A full review will be on my website soon.

Another thrilling and captivating read from Angela Marsons! This latest in the Kim Stone series is possibly the best yet - I literally could not put it down!

When a 13yr old girl apparently commits suicide by jumping off the roof of an exclusive boarding school, Kim and co are called to the school to investigate when the post mortem says otherwise. The headmaster and staff want to sweep the whole incident under the carpet but Kim and co soon discover that all is not what it seems.. With rumours of secret societies within the school, the plot takes an unexpected turn - could the murderer be a student still roaming the corridors and waiting to strike again?

There are lots of sub-plots within this great story that make it even more consuming and I cannot wait to read the next installment! Many thanks to netgalley for an ARC in return for this honest review.

Dying Truth – Angela Marsons

This is the eighth book in the Detective Kim Stone books. Don’t be deceived that since it’s the eighth it wouldn’t be as good as the others; these books continue to be solid plots as the series continues. This particular story follows a young girl who has seemingly jumped to her death at a school, but as another child is found along the same manner, it becomes clear that something else is going on at this school. Detective Kim and her team must figure out what is really happening and just when a teacher is about to share, she is found dead. Kim must figure out if a teacher is behind the happenings at the school, or if a child is.

I just love these characters and the stories that they get caught up in. Kim and her team have been paired together throughout eight books now, and there are snippets of the characters background and lives throughout the various books. Marsons does a wonderful job grabbing the reader in at the beginning of the stories and not letting them go. I finished this story in one sitting; I couldn’t put it down. I really hope this isn’t the end of the Detective Kim Stone books.

** I was given a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review **

Dying Truth is the eighth book in the D.I. Kim Stone series and although I loved the other books in this series, this one is my favourite so far, despite the ending I was definitely not expecting. You'd think after eight books, things would start to go downhill, but this book was top-notch with a fascinating mystery, really intriguing characters, some crazy twists and turns, and an ending that sent shock waves rippling right through me.

I love stories about boarding schools and this one is woven around a secret society as Kim and her team investigate the horrific death of a thirteen year old girl. While the exclusive private school would wish for Kim to hurry up and wrap up the death as a suicide, there are too many unknown variables that draw Kim's suspicion so she starts to look deeper and discovers a lot of other things at play. Kim refused to take the easy way out and decides to take on the case as a murder investigation despite the school's plea to keep things as quiet as possible. With so many incidents in the news about hazing incidents, it's good to read a book that deals with the subject and the tragic results that happen. Some of the stories were so heartbreaking and as a parent, I would be so angry as well. And frustrated too, as the powers that be tried to cover everything up, paid everyone off, and forced people to sign confidentiality agreements. I'm not shocked but it still makes me angry and I thought the author handled that very well. Kim's determination to investigate definitely caused ripples but she ignored them in her usual way, and started exposing secrets and dark happenings that were going on at this boarding school. Her search also brought her back to face Dr. Alex Thorne, one of the most interesting scenes in the book, as she was trying to get a handle on child sociopaths. Wow!

This author has the ability to just draw you in and I stayed up far too late finishing this book, then couldn't sleep afterwards because of that ending. That ending sucked, but not in the way that you think. I can't share anything more, but damn, that hurt!!! I was also totally sucked in by the secret societies and the power they have; I love how they were treated in this book.

Over the course of the books, I have become rather fond of Kim, Bryant, Dawson, and Stacey, and although we didn't really learn as much about Kim's background in this one, it did focus quite a bit on Dawson which I loved. If you are new to the series, you won't really learn much about Kim so you would have to read previous books to learn about her and I do really recommend starting with the first book and you will learn all about Dr. Alex Thorne at some point, too. which makes for great reading.

Dying Truth was a great police procedural and I love these types of books. This one definitely sucks you in right from the beginning, with enough twists and turns to keep me happy, and I have to say I didn't figure out who the murderer was, which I loved. The story is tense and suspenseful, going from one scene to the next, barely letting go until the end. One of things I love about this series though, is the characters, The author has created a set of characters that work well together and are interesting in their own way, and in this one, Dawson kind of takes center stage, so to speak, and we learn so much more about him. This was an amazing book and I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this series, but I am also deathly afraid to read it too, When you read this one, you will understand. While you definitely could read this one as a stand-alone, I do recommend starting from the beginning as this series is just so good.

This is already the 8th book in the Kim Stone series, and I still want more and more of them (hint hint....)
This book's investigation is set against a privileged school environment, where entitled children do as they like regardless of the consequences. The Cards rule the school and determine the fate and the punishment of members they feel violate their ethical code... That part of the plot was very reminiscent of the Skulls movies, which I loved!!! Really a very well written book that I just had to finish in one sitting.... Highly recommended.

5 stars are not enough for this book! A young girl has apparently committed suicide at an elite boarding school but DI Kim Stone isn’t convinced and her doubts are vindicated at the post mortem. The ensuing investigation lead Kim and her team to world of wealth, power and secret societies. The book grips you from the first page and then Angela Marsons delivers a sucker punch which left me in tears at the end. Fantastic read.

This book is a perfect example of how crime novels should be written. The author kept me invested in the story and characters. Definitely recommend!

Well here it is! The latest installment of the DI Kim Stone series: Dying Truth by the AMAZING Angela Marsons! If you are a follower of my blog, you will know that Angela Marsons isn’t just one of my favorite authors, the Kim Stone books are one of my all-time favorite crime series! Every time she comes out with a new book, I go in thinking there is NO way this could be better than the last. At some point she’s going to ‘jump the shark’ right? I mean, c’mon, this is the EIGHTH book in the series!! Well folks, she’s done it again….this book is the best Kim Stone book to date.

This book starts out with a peculiar suicide of a young girl. Soon, Kim and her team are in knee deep investigating other deaths at an elite private school. When they discover mysterious clubs involving generations and generations of students and the initiations that occur with membership, the investigation takes a dark turn.

Kim’s team is at it again in full force. Bryant is back with his intuition always keeping Kim in check. Stacey is a mad woman behind the computer. And Kevin’s inner weaknesses and struggles are discovered. The chemistry with the team is the best in any book I’ve ever read. Everyone clicks. They aren’t just co-workers, they are family.

I can’t say anything else about the plot. As with all of her books, it’s best to go into it as blind as possible. I will, however, say this book was the most emotional of all her books. After I turned that last page I was left just my mouth hanging open, tears pouring down my face, and in awe processing what I just read.

If you haven’t read any of Angela Marsons’ books, I recommend starting from the beginning and working your way through each one until you reach this masterpiece. While it will be a time commitment, it will be completely worth it. Then, when you are finished, sit back and just relish in the pure genius that is Kim Stone.

Dying Truth is the latest in Angela Marsons perpetually gripping Kim Stone series, and another winner! The character of Kim has evolved, if slowly, over the course of the eight books, and I for one really liked that. She has become a tiny bit softer, definitely more multi-dimensional and more intriguing for it. The story was a little formulaic, but I still felt it was a strong addition to the series. Looking forward to the next one!

Another 5 Star winner from Angela Marsons. Kim Stone has been one of my favourite detective novels since book 1. And this book keeps the streak going. Nail biting!

Thank you to Net Galley, my favourite publishers Bookouture, and of course my friend Angela Marsons.

The Detective Inspector Stone Number eight. The best so far.

Stunning, shocking, emotional, disturbing.

How far would you go to protect your darkest secrets?

When teenager Sadie Winter jumps from the roof of her school, her death is ruled as suicide – a final devastating act from a troubled girl. But then the broken body of a young boy is discovered at the same school and it’s clear to Detective Kim Stone that these deaths are not tragic accidents.

As Kim and her team begin to unravel a dark web of secrets, one of the teachers could hold the key to the truth. Yet just as she is about to break her silence, she is found dead.

With more children’s lives at risk, Kim has to consider the unthinkable - whether a fellow pupil could be responsible for the murders. Investigating the psychology of children that kill brings the detective into contact with her former adversary, Dr Alex Thorne – the sociopath who has made it her life’s work to destroy Kim.

Desperate to catch the killer, Kim finds a link between the recent murders and an initiation prank that happened at the school decades earlier. But saving these innocent lives comes at a cost – and one of Kim’s own might pay the ultimate price.

This book is shocking, you ask yourself the questions does this happen in our schools in the UK or around the world.

The Dark Secrets of the upper class, the very posh schools, their hidden secrets, Angela Marsons has created a very realistic, well paced and gripping story, with the most powerful plot that shocks you to your roots.

Emotional, heartbreaking, gripping, tense, and what a shock !

How does Angela Marsons keep getting better !

As someone who has read all the Kim Stone books by Angela Marsons I was hoping for great things with this one and I sure as hell was not disappointed.

This is one great read which’s steaks along at a great pace. It keeps the reader guessing what the outcome will be and has plenty of twists and turns on the way and a couple of real “wow!” moments.

The usual cast are all there and once again as you progress through the book you find out more about each character and you really care for them.

Angela Marsons has done it again, gritty subject matter, great plot, great characters, great read!

Highly recommended.

How does this series get better..
I have to confess that I live in the area that this series is set which makes it more alive that others. Despite this Kim Stone and her team are brilliant. I love it when characters come alive and develop as you read a series and they do!
This story has the right plot, the right level of tension and pace that leaves the reader gasping (and in my case - sobbing, thanks!)

The following is my review as posted.

I'm a huge fan of this series and Marsons is a terrific writer. However, I have to say this one didn't quite connect with me like previous ones have.

The book begins with the death of Sadie, a young student at posh school Heathcrest who has jumped to her death deeming it a suicide. Or is it? Sadie was a troubled girl and certainly things start to look as if a suicide is plausible. However, DI Kim Stone is not convinced as she delves more into Sadie's life. The book soon turns into a story on elite secret societies that are considered a huge honour if asked to join. Societies that follow into the 'grown up' world and indeed it would seem for the duration of your lives; opening doors and windows of opportunities for the elitists of the land. However, such prestige comes with strict rules and codes of conduct to adhere to. If not, then severe consequences appear to be bestowed and that is what is happening here. Fascinating but one the rich can keep to themselves!!

Whilst the secret society angle was interesting, I found it took me a while to get into this book. I missed the banter between Stone and Bryant and though other regular cast members were present I'm a little tired of Stone running to Alex when she has any psychological questions. Surely if you had such questions on children and their potential to kill, you wouldn't run to your nemesis who is incredibly dangerous and more than capable of getting under your skin?! I did, however, love Dawon's role and his interaction with the overweight student, bringing his own past to help the child. Deftly done. Probably why I found the ending such a shock, didn't see that coming at all.

Overall a fairly good read but one that didn't have me hooked like previous books in the series. That said an Angela Marsons book is a book to always look forward to.

Dying truth by Angela Marsons.
Did Kim stone is back.  This time she is at heathcrest academy.  A 13 year old Sadie Winters has jumped from the rooftops.  But has she? Kim and her team will find out the truth.
Omg an absolutely fantastic read.  Had my heart going as I had no idea who it could be.  Bit I knew she hadn't killed herself.  Angela knows how to keep you reading.  I love Kim as she sees what others can't. This is a must read series and I would highly recommend this book.  5*. Would give more if I could.

Another absolute booty of a book from Angela Marsons.
This lady knows how to hold you on the edge of your seat, make you miss your favourite TV show (and not even care) or leave you unable to turn in for the night until you've 'just read one more' chapter.
I adore the way she tells a thrilling crime story (often at very diverse locations) and still brings a human element to her back story. This time I even managed a few tears at the end. And that's rare.
Looking forward to the next one already.

"How far would you go to protect your darkest secrets?" Well, apparently, some go to great lengths.

This was an enjoyable read. I did have a hard time finishing it, but it was worth the struggle.

Great book for lovers of all things crime. .
