Stupendous!

I loved this story and the continuation of the Redemption series. This book has everything....love, action, suspense, humor and intrigue. Ms. Reus is extremely talented.

Title: Innocent Target
Series: Redemption Harbor Book #4
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: Katie Reus
Genre: Romance
Blurb: He wasn’t supposed to fall for her…

She was a target. A contract that came across his desk by mistake. Axel was simply going to warn her that she was in danger and get out. Then he got a taste of her and fell hard. But they’re from two different worlds. Not only is she innocent, she’s out of his league. He should keep his distance, but he can’t. Not when someone wants her dead. Now he’s driven to protect her, to keep her safe.

What happens when she discovers who he really is?

Hadley moved to Redemption Harbor for vet school and to be closer to her new family. Now that her billionaire father knows about her existence, her life has changed drastically. She just never imagined that she might be targeted because of her family. And she definitely never imagined she would fall for the one man she should never want. A man who kills for a living. A man who’s obsessed with her. A man who will do anything to protect her from the danger lurking in the shadows.
Thoughts: I’m a fan of the series, and have read all the books in it thus far. This was not the strongest in the series. I dare to say that if I had started out with this book, and I didn’t already love Reus, I probably wouldn’t be as huge a fan of this series as I am. Innocent Target is my least favorite of the books. Something about it just didn’t work for me. Part of it was that Hadley was just so immature and young-ish for her age and seemed much younger in her mentality….she reminded me a bit of the more annoying YA novels in which the characters are trying to be represented as older, but are less mature than teenagers. Axel, on the other hand, seemed much older than her….I actually liked his character, but I just could not see him being attracted to Hadley at all. I didn’t feel the spark between these characters at all. Add into it that we keep reading glimpses of characters we love – which now seem alien with Hadley thrown into the mix. Yes, we got the history and had heard of her via previous books, but she just didn’t fit. I was just thrown by this book completely….I actually went back and re-read Savage Rising (my favorite so far) to get the bad taste out of mouth and to remind me why I love this series.
Rating: B-/C
Other books in this series: Resurrection (Book #1), Savage Rising (Book #2), Dangerous Witness (Book #3)

Innocent Target is book 4 in the Redemption Harboe series. I’ve really enjoyed this series but have to say this is my favorite! What’s not to love about a contract killer who falls hard for the contract ! Axel is one of my favorite of Katie’s heroes in this series . He and Hadley just fit. Highly recommend the whole series

Hadley is one of the most self sufficient and innocent women Axel knows so why is someone hiring men to kidnap her? Axel is a killer for hire but he only kills those who thwart justice. When he finds out about the contract on Hadley, he knows something's not right. Vowing to protect her, Axel takes on the bad guys and her family. Lots of romantic suspense and a great love story between opposites.

Another great romantic suspense from Katie Reus! Hadley was young but determined to blaze her way through vet school. Axel (ex-FBI turned contract killer (really? yikes!)) only takes jobs where the victim is bad to begin with. So when the contract comes in for a good girl to get kidnapped, he steps into the fray at Redemption Harbor consulting. Quickly they become a couple while they figure out who put out the contract. Couldn't put it down and now I'm sad it's over! Can't wait to see who's next!

Loved it! I have only read one other installment of this series, but I will definitely have to go back and read everything else. This book was really everything I was looking for. I just adored Axel and Hadley. I was also pleased to see that the deception didn't play on for 80% of the book and the truth was put out there rather quickly. Axel really is great hero and is the perfect match for Hadley. The plot was engaging with just the right amount of action. I can't wait for more from this author!

Katie Reus’ Redemption Harbour romantic suspense series reads very much like a darker version of her thoroughly enjoyable Red Stone Security series-- and INNOCENT TARGET, the fourth entry in the series, is the darkest instalment yet. And possibly my favourite-- even though the plot is unoriginal and the relationship between Hadley and Axel instantaneous, they’re just so gosh-darn cute and perfect for each other that it’s hard to find fault. INNOCENT TARGET is a very fast read, made more enjoyable by Ms. Reus’ trademark fast-paced, action-packed writing filled with scorching sexytimes. Looking forward to Gage and Leighton’s books!

Innocent girl in danger, but why? Enter a tall, dark and handsome former Military protector/saviour. Immediate attraction. Who wants to hurt a vet student ? Action, love and romance. Secret operations. Number four of the Redemption Harbour series. Hot men and the beautiful, tough women who love them. I love this series and Katie Reus knows exactly how to take it to the next level. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review

I’m always looking forward to a new release of the Redemption Harbor series. I was especially looking forward to this one, since we got to know the female main character in Brooks’ book and I liked the glimpses we got from her.
The plot itself was well thought-through and I enjoyed seeing the character development of the two main characters and some of the side characters. Especially the glimpses we got from Skye managed to put a smile on my face.
The book was a fast-paced read, I finished in one setting and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
Well done again, Katie Reus!

Action, love, and protective alpha males, what more could you ask for? I love this series.

When a folder crosses his desk Axel knows he has to take action. He heads to Redemption Harbor to protect and tell Hadley that there's a contract on her for kidnapping which would also likely include other terrible acts even if they let her go, which is unlikely.

Hadley has no idea what's coming for her as she starts her spring break, but she gets a taste of it the first bust night when someone tries to abduct her. Lucky for her someone else was there to help.

This is a sweet book with Hadley the sweet innocent student studying to be a vet and big, hard strong, good looking Axel who is determined to protect her.

I loved it! Full of suspense and twists. This series is a very good one. The stories all stand alone but read together makes them even better. The dog name made me laugh. The ending was awesome! I received a complimentary copy of this book. I freely leave this honest review.

Hadley was everything he never knew he wanted. Meeting her changed his life but he wasn’t prepared for how much he would do,to,protect her life. She was everything he wasn’t and her innocence beckoned him to stay close and keep her safe. Axel never could have imagined all that would transpire but finding Hadley was something he would treasure. Great story on how love will change anyone and you never know when you will fall.

Innocent Target is a fast pace instra romance that will have readers falling in love with Alex and Hadley.
The story moves quickly and ends with a nice little bow for readers who need just an extra dose sexy romance and kick butt gun battles.
Readers will keep up with the characters and love interest from the other books in this series. I enjoy this series but I wish the books were just a little longer for characters development.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Author Katie Rues.

The romantic reader in me is at war with the mother in me when it comes to Innocent Target by Katie Reus. The romantic side swoons a little because Axel is one of those men who meets the woman of his dreams (Hadley) and you somehow know he will do anything for her, become anything for her, sacrifice anything for her just to make her safe and happy. The mother in me says that I would spank my grown daughter if she ever does some of the foolish things that Hadley does. The romantic side doesn't care because Axel and Hadley are so sweet together.

If you can't tell from the title, Hadley is the Innocent Target. She is innocent, too trusting, and completely gullible. She meets Axel and forgoes any hint of personal safety. She immediately goes on a date with him that ends with a close-but-not-quite encounter lasting the night and consistently does things that every mother probably warns her daughter to avoid because of the potential for a dangerous situation. The truth about Axel comes out when Hadley learns that someone put out a contract for her kidnapping and that Axel is attempting to keep her safe. Even when Axel tells her, "I kill people for a living," she isn't put off because he only kills people who deserve it. Honestly, this 'slight flaw' is easy to forgive because they're probably people I'd want to kill, too. This book makes me feel pretty good about falling for someone with a dubious moral code, as long as he is Axel. Because Axel is beyond awesome.

Setting aside my split personality review of this story, let me recommend Innocent Target to you if you like sweet alpha men who fall in love at first sight, then put it all on the line without even one little struggle to stay away. That, my friends, is pretty hard to resist. This is a sweet story that is standalone, although it does feature characters from previous books in the series.

Axel is a contract killer, yet overall a good guy, he falls for Hadley. Mistaken contract, now he wants to warn her, and get out, was easier said then done. She was naive, a new father and family with money. Someone wants her dead. Well done plot of a love they both felt they shouldn’t have, the heart knows best. Protection and love is what Hadley needed, and he was the best there was, a good series, and good plot. Readers will love Axel and Hadley. Can be read as a stand alone, but all in series is good.

I liked this one, even though I’m not a huge fan of insta-love stories. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I will be checking out the others in the series for sure.

We again realize that lines can be blurred with the government and agencies/people they hire. So why do we love to read stories that include these types of characters so much? Is it their alpha tendencies, their kick-ass attitudes, or is it just because they really just want to see good triumph over evil? I think it is all of those things. I was hooked into this story right from the start and honestly I could have read even more of it. The closeness of the people of Redemption Harbor Security resonates throughout the story. Axel and Hadley make you want to join them in their world (not the killing part but you know what I mean). Great read!

I loved the first two books in the Redemption Harbor series, but I found Dangerous Witness to be slow going at times. However, I’m way back into the series after really liking Innocent Target. I fell hook, line and sinker for Axel. He was so totally in to Hadley and was even prepared to walk away if that’s what she needed. He was all alpha – protective, caring and hot without being an a*hole.

Hadley’s a lot younger than Axel (10 years) but is an old soul. She didn’t have the best of childhoods and had to learn to stand on her own two feet from a young age. She’s sweet, strong and definitely not stupid .... no TSTL here! They both fell for each other hard, with no pushing away or living in denial.

This is a fairly fast read, KR brought all the suspense and action with some awesome cameos from Skye, Colt and Gage. Which brings me to Gage’s book – I can’t WAIT to see what transpires there! I’m thinking he’s got his work cut out for him.

Arc received from Netgalley for review.
