Bob West was driven to write ‘Break Your Cane’ after fighting with many chronic illnesses for most of his life. The traditional medicine approach to his treatment was to treat the symptoms and never get to the cause which actually made things worse. Anyone with Rheumatoid arthritis might appreciate the last few chapters where he specifies his protocol - using an ozone generator; regular dry sauna visits; fasting; eating fermented foods; drinking bone broth; stem cell injections; high fat diet; raw food diet. He also lists things that didn’t work for him. This was a quick, many times repetitive read. I think a better way to structure this book would have been to focus on what worked for him and why with a chapter on each with a small section on mindset and mental health at the end.

An essential guide to navigating and triumphing over the inevitable adversities that we will all face in life. West offers the reader a practical alternative to the “name it and claim it” and “you can avoid pain in your life” nonsensical advice books that have invaded the self help sections of bookstores and web sites.
