A good story about a man who grew up with a mother with multiple personalities and a woman who loved him.

MY REVIEW OF “EVERYTHING WE GIVE” BY KERRY LONSDALE LAKE UNION PUBLISHING JULY 3, 2018

“Everything We Give” by Kerry Lonsdale is a captivating, intense, and intriguing novel. This is the third of a series, but can be read alone. The Genres for this story are Fiction, Mystery, Suspense, and Romance. The story is told in the present and goes to the past only when it pertains to the characters or events.

The author describes her characters as complex and complicated. . Ian Collins is an award-winning photographer. He is married to the love of his love, Aimee and has an adorable young daughter Cathy. Ian has two important goals, one is to photograph for National Geographic and the other is to find out what has happened to his missing mother. There are deep secrets and twists and turns.

Ian gets an opportunity to photograph what he loves for National Geographic, but certain situations can cause major problems for Ian and his family. Ian knows that he has to find his mother, and make peace with his estranged father. This search could be dangerous and cause Ian problems with his family.

Some of the characters from the past are in this story. We see a visit from Aimee’s ex-fiance and Ian’s ex- significant other.

I highly recommend this story for those readers who enjoy a suspenseful, mysterious story with tense twists and turns. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

Ian has been thru so much over the years with his beautiful wife Aimee. He is a professional photographer who has been estranged from his mother for years and. Now he has the opportunity to take his dream assignment or take the information from Aimee’s ex husband. Each choice could open a different door in his life. Which path will he choose.

I picked up the first 'Everything' book by Kerry Lonsdale during an Amazon sale. The premise intrigued me and pretty much from the first chapter I was swept into the saga of Aimee, Ian and James. When I discovered the second novel I was delighted and equally enjoyed the novel. I'm so excited to have read the THIRD in the series featuring Ian. He's been my favorite of the three due to our mutual profession so it was fun to read about him and get more behind his backstory.

To be honest, I cannot really find a fault with this book. It's succinctly told and doesn't drag but doesn't feel like it was cut short. I like that it could easily be a standalone novel but it does fit in nicely with the previous novels. All of the ends are pretty well wound up but I can see a few openings should Kerry decide to continue the series.

This is a perfect blend of mystery with a wee bit of romance woven in to keep those that like some love in their stories happy.

I have to add an additional bravo for not making me internally cringe or correct something when it comes to photography. So often in books the protagonist is a photographer and I cannot count how many times things are so wrong on the technical end. It was nice to read a book and not get caught up in the missteps in photography.

Thought this was a great way to wrap up the trilogy with the suspense and heart we know and love from Kerry Lonsdale! The flashbacks to Ian’s childhood were heartbreaking, and yet shined a light on mental illness in a real way, and uniquely from a child’s perspective.

This is the 3rd book in the Everything series. What I appreciated about Everything We Give is that it is Ian's story. There may have been a small part of me that wanted Aimee and James to reconnect at some point. I think this was because I never really felt like I knew Ian. Well, now you get to know Ian. His story is powerful, and it's told with chapters in the past and the present. This is a strong part to the story. While I hope that this is not the last book in the series, if it is, it's a good way to wrap up these wonderful characters.

I have really enjoyed this series and was thrilled to have the chance to read this book as an advanced copy. This book is focused on Ian and I loved hearing his story. It is beautifully written. Some of the chapters shift between past and present and I really enjoy the story in this format. I would highly recommend this book! I hope there will be another book in this series!

This is the final book in this series. I’ve really liked all these books., I really enjoyed Ian’s story and his Mom’s story was intriguing.

The end of the Everything Trilogy is here! You will not be disappointed with this book or how she wraps up the series.
I loved the characters and it's been a joy watching the characters grow and evolve.
Ian's childhood was difficult. His mom dealt with mental illness and as an only child, Ian felt it was his job to take care and protect her. Unfortunalty her mental illness was more than a child could handle.
Ian's journey to landing his dream photo job, making amends with his wife, James, his father and finally his mother brings his story full circle.
I am sad that it has come to an end. I just loved these characters!

I did like this book but as with all sequels I would rather read them one after another. It has been a while since I read the previous book. I liked learning about Spain and the horses. Ian and Aimee conclusion of the rough times that they have had. The series ended great - love the twists and turns of the story.

This was enjoyable but I was a little disappointed. After reading Everything We Left Behind, I had very high expectations and this book failed to reach them, unfortunately. I liked hearing more of Ian’s background but I honestly felt either:

1.) This story was unnecessary or
2.) The topic should’ve been different.

We already covered this subject in the first two books and it felt like having another character having first experience with the same thing kind of dragged the trope on longer than was natural. But that’s just me. I wanted something fresh with tons of heart and emotion and I didn’t really get it.

I also felt like we were left hanging or rushed to conclusion on too many plot-lines. What made Reese have a change of heart? What happened after he met his mom? Did his dad get to meet Caty?

Overall, I liked it but I didn’t love it.

Loved this one. It was a follow up to the first novel, which surprised and delighted me. I had been engaged with the characters originally and true to form, they didn't disappoint the second time around. Since the first novel ended in a bit of a holding pattern, this one gave closure. Definitely recommend.

My first thought as I read the final pages was "It's over?! NOOO!!!" While I was thrilled to read this 3rd and final book in the Everything series by Kerry Lonsdale, there was a part of me that had a hard time letting go of these characters.
I would recommend reading the first two books in the series to really appreciate these characters and the journey they have been on. This compelling storyline in this 3rd book revolves around Ian and the upbringing he had with a mother, who suffered from severe mental issues, and how he had to come to terms with his past in order to move forward with Amy and his future.
Throughout the 3 book series, I have to admit I was on the fence about being on Team Ian but after this book- its Ian, all the way!
His recovery from childhood and then being able to deal with his love for Amy and her struggles to move past her former relationship was a testament to the strength of a good man (and well-developed character) so I really rooted for him throughout this book and hoped he would get his happy ending after all he had been through.
It has also been interesting to see Amy grow up through these books from an insecure girl to a confident woman, business owner, mother and wife.
Everything We Give is a fast-paced suspense story filled with the perfect blend of romance, secrets and hope. While I am sad to see this series end, I thought it was beautifully written and I commend the author on such powerful storylines in all three of the books. It is very bittersweet to have the series end! Kudos to Kerry for creating such an incredibly strong series that had me teary one minute and on the edge of my seat the next. I eagerly look forward to her next book!

I am a big fan of the everything series. This is book number three and you definitely need to read the first two before you read this. This book is told from the perspectives of Aimee and Ian. Ian is an award winning photographer and receives his dream assignment for National Geographic. On the same day he received the assignment Aimee's ex fiancé, James shows up giving him information about someone who could change his life. Ian must decide if it is worth putting everything he has on the line to answer a question that has haunted him for years.

The characters are well written and you feel like you know them. This book, this series is very well written.

I just finished Everything We Give, the 3rd book in the Everything series, and I really loved it. I enjoyed this whole series.

This book focuses on Ian’s story. It almost feels like taking a walk down a winding road taking us through his story and bringing us to the end. I have always liked the characters, and seeing how their relationships grow and change through each of the books in the series. I couldn’t wait to get to the end, and I am a little sad that I have finished too, and to me, that is always the mark of a good book.

I will definitely recommend this to my book clubs!

Everything We Give is about the past colliding with the present while trying to find closure. We are reintroduced to Ian Collins an award winning photographer and cafe owner Aimee who are a married couple with a four year old daughter. Both characters are looking to resolve past issues.

Ian’s character has a backstory involving a mother diagnosed with Dissociative identity disorder. Growing up his father abandoned him while he traveled for work, leaving him home to deal with his unstable mother.
Ian recognized his mother had issues, yet he knew when to be present and when to hide. Ian showed nothing but love for his mother. While he was afraid of her at times he still wanted to protect her. For such a young boy his sense of responsibly was admirable considering he didn’t have a parental role model educating him. He had a sense of pride and bravery born into him.

Ian grew into a strong, resilient, patient, Compassionate, understanding, and protective man. I thought he was a great father and husband who loved deeply. He righted all the wrongdoings from his own upbringing.

Aimee started off as a fragile and emotional character. At first I was unsure about her relationship with Ian. She had too much to process and her actions were irrational at first. Eventually, She became a strong and supportive wife. I was pleased with her ability to find her own closure. Her closure allowed her to focus on her husband.

They made a great team taking the necessary steps to face their fears and address problems head on. I loved their bonding relationship how every obstacle was faced together with support, comfort, and understanding. These two characters endured years of pain and heartache yet together they reached out to each other. It was beautiful how they built their love strengthening it with unconditional love.

The one theme that stands out the most to me in this story was sacrifice. So many layers into these characters backstory showing how family members made sacrifices. Aimee and Ian’s backstory threaded together with interesting twists and turns.

The final book in the Everything series. I really enjoyed Ian's story. My favorite parts were reading about Ian's childhood (even though it was heartbreaking what he had to endure) and the Galician horses in Spain. Everything We Keep is still my favorite but this is a close second.

Ian's childhood was CRAZY, to simply describe it. Ian's mom, Sarah, was not always herself. Sometimes she was Jackie or Billy. Ian was there to witness it all and tried to take care of his mom while his dad was away on assignment. James only made a brief appearance, but that was fine because after the second book I wasn't a huge James/Carlos fan. Then there is Aimee. For some reason she annoyed me in this book. Her reactions seemed over the top. I never really got why she was acting that way in the beginning of the book. Ian had wonderful news to to share and she was off pouting at her friend's house. The truth about Laney/Lucy/Lacy was finally revealed, although there's still a mystery there.

I definitely recommend the book it wraps up everyone's story (maybe not Laney's, but close enough). So readind Everything We Keep and Everthing We Left Behind is a must. After reading it I feel like the series is finished and I know everything I need to. The book deals with family relationships, especially between Ian and his mom and dad. There's a bit of mystery, because Ian has no idea what happened to his mother and is trying to find her. Plus there's some romance, Ian and Aimee can never take their hands off each other, even when they get mad at each other.

I look forward to reading more books by the author.

I feel like this one is more melancholy than the rest in the series. For much of the book I worried about Ian and Aimee, not sure that they would be able to work things out. It didn't help that quite a few times I found myself reading through tears. Both of these two, but especially Ian, have to go on this journey, to discover things about the past, things about themselves, things they hide and things they need to face up to. By the end I was happy with where these characters ended, happy that for them there is so much hope in their future.

I might be caught in a book hangover... I kind of feel like my book just broke up with me! This is it - this is the final story we've all been waiting for and Kerry Lonsdale has delivered! Bringing us into Ian's life prior to Aimee and how the characters have come full circle is nothing short of wonderful! It's so much more than I expected. I want to take these characters with me and see where their lives take them. My heart is full and you don't want to miss this incredible series finale. Now when can we bring this story to the screen!! Thank you for an intricate, well thought out, emotional and thought provoking true love story with a twist of suspense and mystery!

SUPER INTENSE!

Everything We Give, Book 3 in the Everything Series is super intense! This book may be read as a stand-alone but it really needs to be read in chronological order as part of the series to fully understand its significance its significance. This is Ian’s story and what a story it is! Lonsdale takes you on a journey starting with his childhood to the present and her vivid descriptions have you feeling as though you are a silent witness to it all. It isn’t an easy story but it certainly is the one that puts the entire series in perspective. When you read the last sentence, you will find yourself sitting and reflecting a few moments on this whole journey. It’s one of those “WOW!” moments! This story is overrun with such deep, emotional meaning that it will leave you thinking about your own family and relationships and how much we often take our normal lives for granted.
