This fell pretty flat for me. I love sports romance and this just lacked the pacing, action, and heat that I was looking for - which is a shame given that between the familial tensions and opposites attract angle AND forced proximity this should have easily been a highly enjoyable read.

This book was a great coming-of-age/self-discovery book that I’m ashamed took me so long to read. The book was filled with great characters, excellent character development and was overall a great read.

Jennifer Lane's Blocked was a hard book for me to get into. The first few chapters did nothing to rope me in, so the book remained unfinished

I wasn't a huge fan of this one unfortunately. I found it to be a little childish, and that doesn't bode well for a rauchy novel like this one. I don't want to think of teenagers whilst they're pounding away at one another. Severe pass, sorry!!

I have no idea what this book is trying to do. Is it a political treatise? Is it a YA book? Is it a sex romp? I don't think it knows. I honestly kept reading just to see how it ended - I can't say I enjoyed it. Everyone was a basket of quirks and baggage and not real people and I can't really recommend it.

I really struggled to get into this one and to keep with it, so it was one I was unable to finish. The whole situation and characters felt forced and unreal. Very bland.

I was really hoping for more, but it was lacking!

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would given that I requested it by accident. I don't normally read new adult because as a genre it is fairly awful and attracts authors not interested in spell check, sentence structure or editing. This is coming from someone who routinely reads the trash on Kindle Unlimited.

Anyway, back to Blocked. The characters were interesting and Lane explored issues facing young people today in a way that someone in their 30s could still relate to. I loved the political aspect of the plot but that the focus in the end was the relationship between Lucia and Dane. Genre issues aside, I kinda want to read the next book.

I enjoyed this book, but I am not sure if I would pick this author up again. Personally I was not a huge fan of the writing style. I personally just found it a bit choppy and it ruined the flow, but that's just me.

Blocked is a new take on a sports romance and Jennifer Lane does this genre proud.

This is the story of two elite level college volleyball players, Lucia Ramirez and Dane Monroe. Not only do they attend the same college and play the same sport but their parents are running against each other in the next Presidential Election. Thrown together by the Secret Service agents assigned to protect them, they are forced to deal with their opposing views of the world, emotional baggage and their growing attraction to each other. They slowly realize that they have more in common than they ever imagined and come to care for each other, surprising them both.

I had no idea what to expect but as a fan of contemporary sports romance, I was intrigued by the premise. I am so glad that I took the chance on this wonderful author and story. I was hooked from the start and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. #Blocked. #NetGalley

Lucia Ramirez had developed a crush on Dane the first time she saw him on television. Now with their parents in a close presidential race their political views clash against one another. She tries to work through Dane’s standoffish behavior. I certainly didn’t like him at first. His words cut Lucia to the bone and just added to her self esteem issues. He finally begins to change and see who she is with0ut all the issues that surround them. Helping her through her troublesome first year of college they realize they have more in common than they initially thought. Great story and definitely made you realize what pressures athletes and fighting the influences your parents make in your life when they are in the public eye.

copy received for honest review
I had a hard time getting into this story. It had a lot of political rhetoric. The characters were a bit immature even for college underclassmen. I didn't like Dane at all in the beginning. He acted like a spoiled brat. Lucia seemed a little naive. However, the situation they found themselves in, did allow for growth. It ended up being a ok read for me.

I've wanted to read this book since it released and I'm so glad I finally got the chance!
It was good but I think I had built my expectations up too much....

Refreshing and cute. It was a good sport romance.
Really liked the two main characters and their banter!

I don't know how I'd cope if I had a security detail following me every day and worse off while in high school. This story starts out on a high, Lucia is new to a school and Dane's not throwing a welcome party for her because she's the daughter of a Republican and he's the son of a Democrat. There assumptions of each other coupled with their desire to be right gets in the way. I'm glad I got this eARC off NetGalley, it was an entertaining read.

In the beginning I really didn't like either Lucia or Dane but as the book went on and their characters developed I changed my mind. Liked reading about volleyball and their relationships with their teams and coaches. Not a steamy read but rather a sweet one. Lucia's issues with an eating disorder was handled well. Overall a good summer read. I received an ebook at no charge for which I voluntarily provided an honest review.

this author is new to me and this book I highly enjoyed.
I loved that it was a sports story and the characters really spoke to me and gave it a nice bee fresh feel to the story.

I received this as an advance copy. It embodies life as a college student, daily struggles, and top it off, the political arena. The struggles between societies and Family opinions raise strong points. The story thickens as the race heats up
And tempers and Love flares. Can’t wait to read what’s next

Blocked was fantastic!

It was a wonderful little read that I very much enjoyed and I am going to tell you right now that the following books of the series are already on my to get list!

The characters were really great, the backstory really interesting in this day and age. Though sometimes I felt like "can we move the story along?" - after all, I am super impatient, I really liked it.

I sat and finished it in one go and frankly I was not able to put it down, though Jennifer could have done me a solid and told us who won!!!!

Now if you are wondering what I am on about, then you know you have to read the book! It was really entertaining and I enjoyed every page!

Wonderful read in the garden or at the beach, me it was the balcony... but of course you know what I mean! I do hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

The story deals with several matters such as eating disorders, the pressure of college sportas, early romantic experiences, being in the spotlight., as well as moral dilemmas.
I found the book delicate and almost didactic.
I recommend it for young audiences
