I found this to ben an engaging and entertaining read, I liked how Dane and Lucia are developed, we get to see with their strengths and flaws, and to me that makes them come across in a more realistic sense. There is drama in the story, but that merely enhances because we get to see how the familial drama in both families affects these two. A bit heavy on the politics side, I feel that while politics does play a part in the book, Dane had a tendency of being close-minded, instead of being willing to see things from another point of view.

I knew exactly what I was looking for when I started reading this book and it did not disappoint. After wading into several heavy and emotional reads the past couple weeks I was looking for something lighter and a bit more breezy. Blocked was everything I hoped for.
For the most part, I really liked the main characters: Lucia and Dane. I thought the author did a superb job in developing their strengths and weaknesses, both as individuals and as a couple. They both had their fair share of drama consuming their lives but it never felt like too much or that the plot was overcrowded with blatant issues popping up.
I did think that the politics started to feel pushy in their delivery. Dane was so adamant about his liberal beliefs and he never left any room for discussion. It seemed like every time differences in viewpoints were brought up he wanted to go for the knockout. It became overbearing. Lucia seemed more toned down and internalized her thoughts more, which l thought swayed the book in a certain way. I get the needed conflict, I just didn't really like the tone.
Blocked is very mild for a New Adult book, even surprisingly so at some points in the story when the chemistry between Dane and Lucia flared fairly bright. It was a relationship with a slow buildup, and *bonus points* no insta-love here!
I saw that some reviews for this book mentioned the cliff-hanger ending. I actually really enjoyed it and thought it was an appropriate way to send the characters off into the future. Plus, it just made me want to continue on to the next book in the series as quickly as possible. Touche, Jennifer Lane!
*I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I liked it, not loved it. It was just okay. I liked the narrative and the characters but they didn't jump out at me. It was a quick read

I enjoyed this one because it was a little different than your standard romance novel... The main characters play volleyball which is definitely unique, and each of them has a parent who is running for president. Lucia is a freshman on a VB scholarship at the same school as Dane, a sophomore with the same. They end up living in the same house and it is really cute how they end up spending more time together and getting to know each other better. Quick, light romance although it does address some important issues such as easing disorders, juvenile diabetes, school/sports stress and absentee parents. Thanks NETGALLEY!!!!

I throughly enjoyed this book! It is fresh and different and the characters are so good. Amazing character growth in this book, Dane starts out really annoying and self absorbed but as he goes through all the trials thrown his way he starts to grown up right before your eyes! Lucia is such a strong, fierce lady and when her stupid coach plays a little mind game with her, her world starts to implode around her. How she rises up from this and how strong she truly is in this book is awesome! I love the secret service agents and how involved they are in the daily lives of Dane and Lucia. This is just an overall good book.

I previously read this book in 2014 when it was released and was so impressed by the enemies to lovers vibe I got from Lucia and Dane. I thought this was sexy and filled with snarky and sexy banter.
While I did think this story was filled with OTT family and political drama at times, I enjoyed the fact that Lucia and Dane fought their attraction to eachother almost as much as they fought with one another. This story was defin a win and I plan to read more in this series shortly.
