Steve Springfield moves his family to the Colorado Christmas tree ranch owned by his brothers, and intended to be a safe haven. The first call of the book he is tasked to find the one girl he could never forget. Camille Brandt, she is an artist making things out of scrap pieces of metal.

She never expects to get to know the four/five most intelligent kids that keep everyone on their toes waiting for something to explode from an experiment. She still has a thing for the one guy she always followed around at school, who protected her, and is a true real hero.

Mysterious fires start popping up around town, the first one started in her workshop. These two have to work together and fight in order to keep the ones they love safe, because someone they never expected was putting them in danger.

I really enjoyed this book! I had fun getting to know these characters and watching the kids. I loved that their dad let them be who they were, just asking them not to blow stuff up. Camille and Steve were great together and I enjoyed watching everyone as a family work together at the ranch. I am looking forward to the next book by Katie.

Katie Ruggle puts together beautiful stories, with so many great moments in her romantic suspense books, that I can't put them down until the very last page. Doing the best he can while raising his four children, Steve and his kids are missing something, and Camille just might be that something when she becomes a part of the family due to a tragedy. Well written page turner that can be read as a standalone, the surprises just keep coming as you read and try to figure out what will happen next to Steve, Camille and family. Steve has been in the background of previous stories in the K9 Rocky Mountain Series, but in this one, Steve will get his HEA when his family becomes complete with Camille. Looking forward to reading more of the series, I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me "Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 5 Stars!

I adored this book! This is my first novel by Katie Ruggle, and I really enjoyed it. This is the first book in the Rocky Mountain Cowboy series. The characters are pure magic. A hot firefighter who is a single dad to four kids? Yes please! Camille, the town folk artist and solitary creature, seems think so, too! There is intrigue! There is drama! There is chemistry!

Explosive chemistry, family camaraderie and a surprise twist you won't expect! With the kick off of a new Rocky Mountain Cowboys series, Katie Ruggle introduces us to the Springfield family and the Colorado town where they reside. The characters are well developed, and the plot has an air of excitement to it as we follow along with the couple as they start a relationship with each other. The surprise twist sort of takes you aback, and the ending and culmination of it all is rather quick and unexpected. Overall, a solid read!

When firefighter and single dad moved his four kids back home to his family Christmas tree ranch in Colorado, he was expecting a low key lifestyle. Instead, he's getting a sudden life filled with chaos! Kids going this way and that, brothers pestering him, mysterious fires popping up, and low and behold the one girl from his youth that he could never forget!

Artist Camille Brandt enjoys her quiet life as the resident weirdo. She's socially awkward and keeps to herself as much as she can get away with, but there's something about Steve and his kids that bring out a side of her that she's not all that familiar with. A nurturing, loving the family life warm side! As they put up the good fight of attempting to fight their attraction for one another, Steve and Camille figure out that danger is near, they just don't know who or why!

Review:

Great start to a new series and a great introduction to this new-to-me Author.

Perfect story to get you in the mood for the holiday season to come. The story is a little fun, a little heart-warming, a little action packed and a little mystery. I know that is a lot for a story to encompass, but the Author does a great job of blending all those elements into a romance that left me feeling very satisfying after reading. I liked that Camille and Steve are not your typical romance hero and heroine. Both have pasts and idiosyncrasies to make them very interesting to read about. I loved the cast of secondary characters too, from the brothers, neighbors and Steve's kids. I really was not sure who was stalking Camille, so kudos to the Author for keeping me guessing.

Again, very enjoyable story to read and a great starting off point for me with this Author. I am not sure where the series is going next, but I will be waiting for the story.

4Stars

I love Katie Ruggle! Her unconventional characters and unique storylines make for great reads. She uses reoccurring characters from one series to the next.

I love the spin off series from the Rocky Mountain K9 series. We met Steve in that series, but Monroe got to be a bit much for him what with all the explosions and such. So he moved to the Christmas Tree Ranch his brothers own. He joins the volunteer fire department and works on the ranch (and in the gift shop) with his children and brothers and everything seems to be running smoothly. Cue the love interest. Steve knew Camille in High School, but they never really connected. Camille is now a metal artist living in town and known as being super eccentric. She's got high anxiety in social situations, but is drawn to Steve and his kids. When her house mysteriously burns down Steve opens his home to her and other sparks fly...

Steve Springfield has moved home with his four children, to help out his family on their Christmas tree farm and for his children to be around family after their mother past away. He is also a volunteer firefighter and on one of his first calls they are to find what they think is someone who is lost. That someone is Camille Brandt an artist and pretty much a loner, hermit. Now she is totally beside herself when Steve “Feaken” Springfield is the one who finds her, but also she is not lost. Once everything is worked out he fakes like he is hurt to take the attention away from her. The story moves along and you find out more about Camille and you become drawn to her character. You also see her able to relate to Steve’s daughter’s especially Zoe, who has some of her experiments explode every so often, Maya the youngest is sweet and helps pull the Camille that is hiding out and Micah can relate to her social anxiety and when her house burns and moves in they begin to heal slowly. That is until another danger happens that threatens her and the farm. A good story the end kind of the was a little different for me but I am sure others liked it.

Brava Ms. Ruggle, Brava...

This book was magnifíc from the moment Steve-freaking-Springfield sets eyes on Camille to that last heartfelt scene at the end.

Since the moment I found out that Steve (how appeared on the Rocky Mountain K9 Unit series) was going to have his own book and be a man in uniform AND a cowboy to boot? I soooo needed to get my hands on this book.

I have read most of Katie's books and I just love them. She manages to keep me guessing and second-guessing who might be the person causing all the trouble. And even if you think you know who the person is because it's revealed from the beginning? She still shocks you with unexpected twists and turns.

This book was no different and so much more. I fell in love with Steve's kids and I laughed out loud with their antics. I cried and I cheered and I suffered thru many awkward moments along with the characters and I can not properly express how much I loved this book.

I was sad at the end but I hope Steve's brother gets the help he needs and that he understands that they are not kids anymore to be competing to see who's best.

I cannot wait for the next book on this series and I am hoping Joe gets an HEA too; that is sure to be a hilarious and much more awkward read, lol...

Avid Reader – ☆☆☆☆
M/F Romance with a little thriller
Triggers: Stalking

Steven is a widower and he has several kids in tow. When he decides to move back to his home town, he moves back to his tree farm and his three brothers. The kids that he's raising are hilarious and curious, shy and intelligent. I loved that the kids played such a major role in this story. Steven's brothers were somewhat underdeveloped in the story for the large role they played. You were kept guessing about what was going to happen next, for sure, but I also felt slightly lost since they were not really the main characters.

Then you have Camille. She is the quirky resident artist. Despite being kind of a shut in, she does venture out every once in a while. She also has a hilarious, too nosy neighbor. When she sees that Steven is back in town, despite the town gossip and years of people saying that the other brothers were better looking, etc., she can't help but feel like a 12-year-old again.

Steven and Camille are a great couple. They don't have much in common, but their ability to dance around each other was definitely an art in this story. While at times, I wished they behaved less young adult and more adult romance, this was a sweet story and the kids were just icing on a really great story. I am excited to see what everyone gets up to next.

This is the first book in a new series by Katie Ruggle. This story follows Steve Springfield, who is a firefighter and was a character in the Rocky Mountain K9 Unit series. He has moved his four kids back to his hometown of Borne, a small Colorado town. Within the first few minutes on the job, he gets a call of a missing person, Camille Brandt, who Steve has known since he was a kid. This is just the beginning of the trouble that befalls Camille and her friend Steve helps her out through the multiple fires that seem to surround her. Steve is in a race to help her figure out who seems to be targeting her and why. Be prepared for lots of twists and turns!

This is a great starter story to set up the new series. I like that it starts out with a familiar character from one of her previous stories. The suspense and storyline is just as explosive as her other series, I enjoyed this story so much and can’t wait to see where these books end up going and which characters we get introduced next. I am a huge fan of Ruggle and will continue to be as long as she writes great stories as these.

The first book in the new Rocky Mountain Cowboys series by Katie Ruggle is a thrilling and sweet romance that captivates readers from beginning to end. Steve and Camille are strong characters that easily draw readers to them as well as fascinating them with their romance. The sparks fly from first contact, the romance is sweet and full of emotional turmoil as Camille bravely tries to interact with Steve, his kids and his brothers in order to give their attraction a chance. This vulnerability speaks to readers and tugs at heart strings while they cheer Steve and Camille toward their happily ever after and well the kids adds their own special brand of happy to the story while capturing hearts as well.

The story has a steady to fast pace that keeps anticipation building throughout with small details that show that there is a danger to Camille, but the danger isn’t obvious which adds to the thrilling expectation of the story and keeps readers on the edge of their seats. There is a stunning betrayal and surprising twist that makes the suspenseful climax even more exciting and the whole holiday atmosphere of the story adds spice and goodwill to the story as the couple try to keep their family alive until Christmas. I was completely enthralled with the Springfield brothers and their holiday business and ranch combination and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Note: While this is loosely tied to Ruggle's Rocky Mountain K9 Unit (Steve was a firefighter in Monroe) but other than realizing that some pretty bad things happened there this one pretty much stands on its own.

I absolutely love Steve & his kids and how they accept & understandd Camille.  She also brings her own unique views to this lovely family, adding a little softness that they all needed.  It's sweet, heartwarming, and absolutely hilarious because she's so awkwardly endearing when it comes to falling for Steve.  They made me giggle so many times :)  And his kids are just so darn adorable - smart, precocious, and brilliant.

There is a bit of danger in the story but it doesn't take central stage.  Instead Ruggle makes sure to tie it in just enough to remind you that there is a bad guy out there but not enough to take away from all of the important emotional moments and the bonding between Camille & the Springfields.

Rocky Mountain Cowboy

**received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rocky Mountain Cowboy is the first in Katie Ruggle’s new series and brings back a favorite from her previous series. Steve captures your heart with his relationship with his kids and his willingness to do what he needs for his family. Add in Camille’s quirky ways and together they are an awesome match. Katie also keeps the book interesting by throwing in a twist that you don’t see coming. If you are a fan of her previous series you won’t want to miss this book.

Steve is back in his home town and ready to start over. And when he finds out that Camille still lives in town he can’t help but feel excited. She was unique in high school and captured his attention back than and is just as interesting now. But will his brother try and one up him?

Camille can’t believe Steve is back in town. She had a small crush back in high school but never thought they would have a chance. Now he is back and making his interest known, unfortunately so is his brother. But Camille can’t deny the pull she feels for Steve and his children.

But as Camille and Steve get closer, strange occurrences begin to happen and Camille’s life becomes endangered. Will she and Steve be able to continue their relationship? Or will the danger following Camille be too much and change their lives forever?

I received a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

This is a delightful read, with a lighter tone than the few other books that I have read by the author.
After many years, widower Steve returns to the family Christmas Farm with his four children, seeking them a safe haven. He has been a fireman and part of Search and Rescue in the other small towns that he has lived in. Dangers that his family faced in those small towns were eluded to, but never explained to the reader who has not read all the previous books or doesn't remember.

Camille Brandt grew up in Brandt Montana, shy and awkward, after her mother died and she came to live with her grandmother at six years old. She has grown up to be a talented metal and woodwork artist, but socially inept adult. When her neighbor reports her missing, Search and Rescued is called out and she is found by "Steve-freaking-Springfield" her high school crush. Although they were three years apart, he was always extremely kind to her and her hero, her favorite of the four handsome Springfield boys. When she brings some of her artwork to the Farm store for them to sell, she meets his children and immediately bonds with them. But as in many of Ruggle's books, there is a menace threatening her.

The characters are so appealing and the dialogue so light and witty, that at first it does not seem like a Ruggle Montana book. But the danger and intrigue sneak in there. Although there was a hint of who the "mystery man" is, there were also several red herrings to throw the reader off track.

I enjoyed all of the author's Rocky Mountain K9 series, so I was really looking forward to reading this book. I loved the CO mountain setting, and the fact that Steve is a volunteer firefighter, a caring and competent single dad, and an all-around great guy. Camille, although having serious hermit tendencies and social anxiety was also no pushover, and managed her life quite competently. I thought they made a great couple and it was so much fun to see her come out of her shell around Steve and his kids.

Unfortunately, although I loved most of the book, at the 95% mark, the way a plot point was resolved destroyed all of my previous enjoyment of it. It doesn't appear to have bothered other readers so YMMV. Hence the 3 star rating. In spite of this, I'm still planning to read the next book and will hope that I can enjoy 100% of it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I truly loved reading this book. Steve-frecking Springfield was a wonderful hero and his four adorable children. The children were such a fun addition to the story. Camille was a shy introvert that had a phobia of being around people and she was tongue-tied while around them. This was a true joy. The book was beautifully written and I was engrossed right from the beginning.

The suspense part of the book was a real shocker. I never would have guessed who would be causing the fire (minus the first one.) I highly recommend this book to everyone. I hope that the brothers get their stories told!!!
