This is the second Kappy King mystery and I enjoyed it very much. Kappy (Kathryn) King is a single Amish woman who makes her living making kaps for other Amish Women. She is a bit of a rebel as she has not married and is not courting anyone. She is also best friends with Edie, an amish woman who jumped the fence and is shunned by the community. Edie moved back home to take care of her brother, who has developmental delays, after the murder of her mother. This mystery has Sally Esh, a young Amish woman involved in a fatal accident where the truck who hit her did not remain on the scene. Once Kappy and Edie realize that it was a deliberate collision, they get right into the investigation. Did the pickle business run by the Esh family have anything to do with her murder of was it personal? Was Sally the intended target or was it her brother, who would normally be making pickle deliveries. Once again, Edie is integral in the investigation and she can do things and find information that Kappy can't. Kappy is able to get information from the Amish that they won't share with Edie, so the two of them make a great pair. There are several twists and more than one suspect to keep the reader guessing. The final twist and reveal was somewhat surprising, but totally believable. This is an enjoyable book and series, that I recommend to cozy mystery lovers, especially those who enjoy Amish fiction.

This book has some unexpected twist and terms. The character of Kappy is one that I did not expect and loved this story.

Great cozy mystery with fun characters, good plot, good story line, I look forward to reading more in this series.

I didn't read the first Kappy mystery, but I'm so glad that I was able to read the second! Kappy is so spunky! I will have to go back and read the first of the series!

I was so excited to meet up with these characters again. I really enjoyed the first book and this one is really good as well. I like the writing style. It's a good, solid mystery and I enjoyed it very much!

I don't have a blog, but I do recommend books to customers at my library. I first want to say thank you for the chance to read this book before it was published. However, I have to admit that I couldn't get very far in the book. I usually enjoy mysteries involving the Amish, but the main characters did not appeal to me. Edie, in particular, irritated me. When that happens, I find myself reluctant to return to the book. Now, I am not saying I wouldn't recommend it to customers or anyone else. I think it would appeal to others. It just didn't appeal to me.

This is the second book in this series, and I hope there are many many more to come. The books is sweet and clean but held my interest till the end. It was so much fun to read. I love all things Amish especially a really good mystery. You will not be disappointed in this book! Thanks netgalley snd the publisher for supplying sn advance copy. The opinions are my own.

Kappy King and the Pickle Kaper by Amy Lillard is the second book in the Amish Mystery series. When Sally June Esh is killed in a hit and run accident while delivering pickles, the Amish community is devastated. Kappy, an Amish woman living a bit on the edge of her community, and Edie, Kappy's friend who decided to live among the Englisch, find themselves in the middle of the mystery. Edie is receiving cryptic text messages about the accident. This is a wonderful series. Kappy is a charming character, and her friendship with the eccentric, shunned Edie is entertaining. The mystery was strong. The characters, mystery, and writing combine to make this one of my favorite cozy series.

A Kappy King cozy mystery is SO much fun! Kappy and Edie make a great team of amateur detectives. Add in the fact that this is an Amish cozy mystery, and you have a combination that can’t be beat. Amy Lillard’s characters are quirky and loveable. This storyline holds your interest to the very last page. Clean, sweet and entertaining reading.

This is the second book in An Amish Mystery series. We return back to Blue Sky community. There is another tragic accident, and Sally June is the victim this time. Kappy and Edie are at it again trying to solve this case. Sally June was a nice young lady in the community. She was liked by the other members in the community. She had a lot going for her self. Why would anyone want to hurt her? Kappy and Edie are going to try and figure it out and find the suspect.

I enjoyed this book very much. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I was hooked from start to finish. These could be read as a stand alone, although I recommend reading them in order. I was given a copy from the author and Net Galley. I was not required to write a review. All opinions are my own.

Kappy King And The Pickle Kaper is a mystery. The turns have twists and the twists have fantastical turns. The book have the characters very grounded in their Faith - they need it. The answer to the mystery is hard to find. The characters are authentic and all around fun. The main characters are kind hearted and they are full of Faith. That is the way it should be. Will they figure who it is? It is a great big surprise - believe you me.

I am so excited to read the next book in this series. Kappy is a hoot and I love her devotion to making kapps for the women in the community. I never really thought much about where the kapps came from. Kappy has a special gift for making them and is kept very busy with orders.

Kappy's neighbor Edie is back as well and still just as spunky and curious as ever. When they happen upon an accident , they are saddened to see that a buggy is involved. The smell of vinegar is everywhere and pickles are spread all over the street. It is a real tragedy when it is discovered that Sally June Esh has passed away from the accident. She was young at only nineteen years old and the community is saddened by the loss.

Kappy and Edie crash the funeral looking to find any information about the accident. I had to laugh at these two sneaking around like two detectives looking for clues. They are too funny at times and it makes the story so enjoyable to read. I wonder if the author had two people she knew in mind when she wrote these two characters? When Edie starts getting strange texts on her phone about the buggy accident, questions start popping in Kappy and Edie's head? Was it an accident or did someone deliberately cause the accident ? I love how the two women work together and are not afraid to investigate on their own. The banter between Kappy and Edie is hilarious. It is a miracle they agree on anything. One thing is for sure though, Sally June was murdered and they are convinced they will find out who did it.

As I continued to read the story I couldn't wait to see what shenanigans our two female "detectives" would get into next. They aren't real detectives, but they sure are better about finding clues than the police are. They know just the right questions to ask and have a knack for getting people's trust. I loved how the women didn't stop snooping and sure found themselves in trouble at times. It is a great story with an ending that I really enjoyed. I can't wait for the next book in the series to find out what kind of trouble Kappy and Edie get into next. Just a thought; this series would make a great TV show. I wonder who would play the lead female characters?

I'm a fan of this series less because of the mysteries (there's more going on out in Amish country than the casual observer might think!) but because of the interplay between the characters. Kappy, so nicknamed from Kathryn AND because she makes prayer kapps, is observant. Her friend Edie not only is not, she's been banned because she joined the church and then left it. She's back in town to care for her younger brother Jimmy, who is intellectually different. After Kappy and Edie solved the murder of Edie's mom, they thought things would be quiet. Not! Young Elmer the puppy is running around, a young woman is run down in her buggy, there's two potential love interests in Hiram and Silas (and Jack too, really). There was a little less of Amish culture in this installment but it's a great read with engaging characters and good humor. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

The Kappy King series is so much fun to read. In this book, second of the series, the unlikely friendship of Kappy King and her neighbor, Edie Peachey, former Amish and now Englischer, grows as they put their sleuthing skills to investigate the accident of a young Amish girl. Sally June Esch was killed while traveling in her family buggy to deliver a load of pickles. She was hit by a car that left the scene. At first it appears that maybe it was a hit and run but then someone sent Edie a text giving clues that maybe it was an intentional murder. The camaraderie between Kappy and Edie, and even Edie's special needs brother, Jimmy, is funny as Kappy tries to understand Edie and her Englisch vocabulary and thoughts. Kappy is getting used to having Edie around and wants her to stay on her mothers's farm but Edie never planned to stay after attending her mother's funeral and settling her affairs. What would happen to Jimmy if she left? Kappy has put the relationship on hold with her former beau even though he wants to marry her but someone else might be interested in Kappy. Edie and Detective Jack Jones still seem interested in each other. This is a fun series to read and interesting characters to get to know and always a mystery to solve.

One of those book that you can’t wait to read, but don’t know if you want to because then it will be done, but I couldn’t resist. Yes, this is the second book in this series and it can be read alone, enough information is provided, but you will miss out on a previously delightful book.
There is a sad part of this book, but most of it is full of chuckles, and becomes a quick page turner. We have two individual, one Amish, but considered a bit odd by the community, and the other an eclectic fence jumper, that came back to take care of her handicapped brother.
We get to watch, read, these two as they go about with their detective work of trying to solve a murder. Surprises and chuckles abound here, and I want more, and yes, I have to wait until December, but there is another coming!

This series is a lot of fun. I love Kappy, Edie and Jimmy. These characters are great fun. I love how Kappy solves these murders. This one is based around pickles. There is a lot of laughter in these books even though there are murders. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
