I loved the first book in this series, Kappy King and the Puppy Kaper and I couldn't wait to read the second. I wasn't disappointed. Full of humor, relationships, mystery and a well drawn community, I enjoy this series very much. Kappy and her new BFF, Edie are an interesting pair. Kappy is a young single Amish woman who was raised by her slightly excentric maiden aunt when her family was killed. Edie is former Amish who was shunned by the community but has returned to her family home to care for her special needs brother after their mother was murdered in the first book of the series. What an interesting and delightful pair they make.
When a buggy collides with a car in a hit and run, leaving the buggy driver dead the assumption is that it was a tragic accident. But was it really? Who would want to kill over local pickles? Somebody would, it seems and Kappy and Edie are hot on the trail of a murderer - again.
While I love the pairing of Kappy and Edie, the setting, the mystery, I have to say that as I was waiting for this book to get into my hands, I was really looking forward to getting to know Edie's brother better, how he was adapting to the loss of his mother and finding his place in his new situation. And, yes, the Beagle from the pervious book, the Puppy Kaper.
This entry can be read as a stand alone but I would say read Kappy King and the Puppy Kaper first so you can get the most out of the second. It will still be a great read if you haven't read the first but so much better if you have.
The mystery is solid and well written and the characters are people I would like to know. Now I have to be patient and wait for the third in the series. I'll be counting down the days until it comes out in December - Kappy King and the Pie Kaper.

Kappy King had been living a quiet life on the edges of her Amish faith until Edie returned home to care for her special needs brother. Since then Kappy and Edie have been in the midst of murder investigations. This time it involves a young Amish girl who was killed in an auto accident delivering pickles to the store. Can Kappy and Edie find the killer before angering everyone in the town?

This is the second book in The Amish Mystery series from Amy Lillard and it is a treat to read. Each book reads as a stand alone but you get a lot of the back story in the first book, Kappy King and the Puppy Caper. Each book is a clean read with a light romance in the background. I would have no problems letting a teenager into mysteries read these books.

Edie is ex-Amish and is hilarious in her outfits. She is a great friend for Kappy in that she makes Kappy come out of her shell and be apart of the community. Kappy is a great friend for Edie in that she makes Edie think about her life decisions. You could not have two better friends for each other.

Grab yourself some pickles (white church pickles or green) and go to town reading about the latest adventures for Kappy King.

This is the first Amish mystery I've read by Amy Lillard but far from the first book I've read by her . There were some laugh out loud moments in this book for me. It kept me entertained trying to figure the ins and outs of the mystery. Every time I thought I had it solved the book took off in a gallop in a whole other direction with a new suspect.I really enjoyed reading 'Kappy King and the Pickle Kaper'. There were twists everywhere, that I didn't expect, which kept me guessing until the end.

I loved this book as I loved the previous one. I find there's a lot of tenderness in the description ot the characters and of the settings.
This is a good mystery and the plot is driven by the choices of the characters.
I love the cast of characters with their own doubts and problems and I find that their issues are a fundamental part of the plot.
I hope to read soon another instalment in this series.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to Kensington Books and Netgalley for this ARC

Amy Lillard's second book in the Kappy King mystery series takes us back to the Big Valley area of Pennsylvania to the Blue Sky community. Kappy King and the Pickle Kaper begins with a tragic fatal buggy accident. While the police look for a hit and run suspect, Kappy and her friend Edie, who is no longer Amish, receive mysterious text messages suggesting this was not an accident, it was intentional. So Kappy and Edie hit the pavement, highway, and fields to solve this crime involving a car, buggy, and white church pickles!
This book is filled with mystery, shady characters, and most importantly...humor! These two bumbling sleuth wanna be's get themselves in and out of hot water daily. Edie's brother Jimmy is back to add to the excitement as well as some other comical characters from book one. All in all this is a great summer read. This book releases June 26, 2018.

Happy King and her BFF Edie Peachey investigage the murder of a young Amish girl from their community of Blue Sky, Pennsylvania. While things first appear to be an accident things aren’t as simple as life in the Amish community.

With a cast of Amish and Englisch characters, the book is a light and fun read. While I did not read the first book, there are some things that are disconnected without having read it, but nothing that leaves you totally clueless. You can easily make an assumption and move on.

On our second adventure in Blue Sky finds Kappy, Edie and Jimmie still recovering from finding who killed Edie and Jimmy's mother. While on their way to pick up Jimmie, Edie and Kappy find themselves driving by the devastating crash between a buggy and a car. Too many this appears to be a tragic accident. But when Edie begins to receive texts from an unknown source about a possible murder, she and Kappy feel led to find answers. Who would have murdered Sally Jane? Was it really about Pickles?

I find these books to be fun reading. While they keep you guessing until the end as to who done it, I enjoy the antics of Kappy, Edie, Jimmie and the dogs. I love how one can relate to Amy Lillard's characters. While this is a mystery, I found myself laughing out loud at the situations that Edie and Kappy find themselves in. If you are looking for an enjoyable read that will keep you company on a quiet night, welcome Kappy and her adventures into your to be read pile. I received an ARC from Netgalley. 4 stars

What a fun book! I absolutely enjoyed this second book in the Kappy King series. Kappy and her friend Edie are a hoot! I immediately was drawn into this easy cozy mystery featuring a single Amish woman Kappy, her friend Edie, who is under the bann and Jimmy, Edie’s special needs brother.

When an Amish woman dies in a hit and run accident between her buggy and a vehicle, Kappy and Edie take it upon themselves to find the culprit. Edie begins receiving a series of bizarre texts pointing to the culprit. As they begin to follow the clues, they find themselves in danger from the killer. The side story of Jimmy and his menagerie of animals is fantastic.

I have never read a book by Amy Lillard prior to this; however, this book was so fun I will certainly read more from her! I give the book four stars downgraded from five, just due to the fact I figured out the ending. I highly recommend this book and author! I truly appreciate an entertaining Christian book.

Kathryn "Kappy" King is a happy unmarried woman who runs a kapps making business in her Pennsylvania Amish hometown. When young Sally June Esh (whose family runs a pickles producing business) was killed in a buggy accident, she suspects foul play after her ex-Amish friend, Edie, received an anonymous text: "Some accidents aren't accidents." So, both Kappy and Edie start asking questions in the community and the more information they gather, the more they are convinced that Sally's death is not an accident.

A light hearted cozy murder mystery which unfortunately I did not quite enjoy. Not only the plot is average, the focus shifted from mystery solving to romance, obscuring the main plot. The writing is simple although it has a somewhat good storytelling. A character driven story where characters are delineated indirectly. Truth be told, I find both Kappy and Edie are a little overwhelming and frustrating.

You'd need to read the first book in this series in order to fully understand and enjoy this second book. Too many references made to the first book without giving any brief backstories and I felt that I missed out quite a bit.

This book is not for me. But if you are looking for a quick read with a little mystery thrown in, you may enjoy this book and even the whole series.

Kappy King and the Pickle Kaper is book two in An Amish Mystery series by Amy Lillard. Kappy We return to Blue Sky, Pennsylvania where Kathryn “Kappy” King and Edie Peachy are just getting life back to a somewhat normal routine for their selves and Edie’s brother Jimmy after solving the mystery of Edie and Jimmy’s mother’s death.
Edie has insisted on Jimmy getting and part time job. On their way to pick up Jimmy, the girls come across a buggy/vehicle accident. They quickly realize the driver of the buggy has been killed. Sally June Esh has been killed on her way to deliver the Esh’s pickle delivery. Her brother Jonah usually makes the deliveries, but on this odd day, Sally June has been at the reigns.
Kappy and Edie soon decide that they are going to solve the mystery of who ran Sally June’s buggy off the road and why the individual did not stop.
Amy did another wonderful job mixing mystery and humor in this book. The characters are well-developed and likeable.

This charming book is both a puzzling mystery and a look into Amish life. Kappy King and her friend Edie, who has left the church and their way of life, are once again thrown into a murder investigation when Sally Esh's buggy is hit by a blue car while she is out delivering her family's pickles to the local store. Most of the Amish are willing to accept it as an accident and God's will, but Edie is receiving text messages indicating it is a crime and so the two of them, along with Edie's disabled brother Jimmy, are off detecting. This book is more than a mystery, it is a look into another, simpler way of life and learning about the Amish customs (although not their shunning of Edie) is very rewarding. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

An interesting murder mystery. Kappy King and her shunned friend Edie, start looking into the mysterious death of a young Amish woman whose buggy was hit by a car. Fun characters, and fun story, although the red herring of the pickles kinda got overplayed. Other than that though, was a pleasant story to read.

A fun and breezy "whodunit" set in a charming Amish valley in Pennsylvania, "Kappy King and the Pickle Kaper" has Kappy and Edie on the trail to find the real reason a young Amish woman was killed when a car hit a horse and buggy on the main road. Descriptions of the people and locale reminded me of fun day trips to Lancaster County, PA. An enjoyable read that you can't help but smile about as you are reading.

This is the second in the Kappy King series - but I didn't feel "at a lost" not yet having read the first book prior to this story.
