Although this is the second in a series, I hadn't read the first before reading this and I didn't feel as though I had missed out on anything too important. However, I am planning on going back and reading the first book when I get a chance.

Ah, Sage and Shawn. I don't know if I can think of a book that I've read recently where both main characters came into the relationship with so much baggage. While it's common for character's history/background to cause issues with their relationships in books, I felt that poor Sage really got dealt a crappy hand when it came to parents. Ultimately, she worked it out and moved past her issues, but honestly, I kind of wish that she had "had it out" more with her mother in the end. That woman needs a slap upside the head. And poor Shawn – although he seemed to recognize where his urge for adrenaline-junky activities came from, he didn't seem inclined to do anything about it until push came to shove. He was a bit of an idiot about it all, but ultimately got his head on straight. Since both characters seemed totally aware of their "issues" I did feel like shaking them and saying "JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER!" (but I guess that wouldn’t make for a very interesting story...).

My only other issue was that I felt like they moved from lust to love a little unrealistically. Listen, I "knew" pretty quickly when I met my husband, and my parents eloped after knowing each other for three months and have been married for 54 years so I obviously don't have an issue with moving quickly. I just felt like there wasn't quite the basis for some of their quick progression. But it wasn't really a deal breaker.

Hot & Heavy lives up it’s title with the characters heating up the pages and the bedroom. Sage and Shawn are opposites in every way. Sage is all about responsibility and not taking any risks in her life because her mother moved them around a lot. She never had stability in her life, so she takes great measures to ensure her life is full of rules and no risks. Shawn has his demons which makes him take risks with his life and career. He plays football player, but when he is not playing he is an adrenaline junkie set on taking risks. When the two of them meet sparks fly and they embark on one-night of passion. When their night gets interrupted Sage runs like she does when she gets out of her comfort zone. They meet again when Shawn comes to her yoga studio for rehab on his shoulder and Shawn makes it his mission to get her to drop her walls and give him a chance.

I love the story and it’s a quick read filled with intensity, passion and fighting the battles within to find true happiness. Both characters are lost souls doing anything to not confront their past but when they meet how can they fight what they truly need. You will love reading about Sage and Shawn just from their first interaction and hoping for them to find their way. Their chemistry is intense, and they can turn any moment they share into a great buildup of passion. Can Shawn get Sage to take a risk with her heart to give them a real chance or will her rules get in the way? To find out you must read “Hot & Heavy” which will leave you wanting more of the two of them once you do.

Tracy Wolff really annoys me. Why? Because she’s one of the best sports romance writers out there but doesn’t write enough of them, darnit! Down & Dirty, the first book in her Lightning series was utterly fantastic so it’s no surprise that I was totally delighted to get my hands on Hot & Heavy (Lightning, book 2). The good news is that I was not even remotely disappointed. Sage and Shawn’s story is a true delight and shows that book 1 was not even remotely a “fluke”. I love the genuine feel of Hot & Heavy, and it’s shear heated romantic essence. Great stuff. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is book 2 in a series and easily stands alone. The characters in the previous book make an appearance a few times but not enough that you would be lost. I liked the first book better because I think it had more heart. This book is hotter because there are no kids involved like the first book.

In this story Shawn, our hero is a daredevil. He meets Sage at a bar and they have sex. But she thinks he is way out of her league and so she refuses to give him her number. Until her friend decides to fix Shawn up with Sage and recommends her Yoga studio. And that is how they get to know the other.

I felt like Sage that Shawn is a little insane with the risks he took. So it was hard to really love and connect to him. But I really loved Sage's struggle with her mom and dealing with Shawn. This was a funs tory and the writing was pretty great. The author crafted some great characters and gave them some very serious issues to face.

I really enjoyed this well titled book. It is definitely hot and heavy. Shawn meets Sage and it's instant attraction. Shawn is a football player and Sage an accountant who also runs her mom's yoga studio. Opposites attract big time in this fun romance. Loved it!

The last thing Sage was looking for was a man. Or so she thought she does something so out of character. When she has hot crazy sex with a man at a bar in the hallway. He was so sexy so big because at 6 feet herself finding a man to look up to so to say is hard. But Shawn is big everywhere because he is a football player. And not just any football player but the teammate of her best friends fiance. He gets injured doing extreme sports which is against his contract. So he goes to her for help. Hoping being she's a yoga instructor and the business owner she can help. From here it only stars to sizzle the pages faster. Can they both let go and enjoy what's happening? Or will their hang-ups keep them from the one thing they both crave, each other?

Hot & Heavy's title certainly delivers just that, oodles of hot and heavy not to mention uber sexy interactions between Sage & Shawn. I really like this couple and feel they were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was so off the charts that Sage finds herself doing something completely out of character the very first night she meets him, that is she does him in the back hallway of the bar. But it turns out to be the beginning of something great!
Really good story to go along with all the hotness though, which I do like in a romance.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book!

Opposites attract!

Accountant/yoga teacher Sage Kaufmann is forced to go to a bachelorette party for one of yoga teachers at the yoga studio that she was managing for her mother because her mother was finding herself in India when she meets this really cute guy named Shawn at the bar and has a one night stand with him. When Shawn wanted her phone number she left quickly because she normally didn’t sleep with a guy right away.

Football star Shawn Wilson had hurt his shoulder cliff diving in Mexico against his contract when he needed help to getting it to heal when he was given the name of a yoga teacher by a friend. Sage was surprised it was the guy she had met but the studio needed the money after her mother had given the money away to the guy in India to help his program.

Sage and Shawn were very different in how they behaved. Sage wanted to be totally different than her mother that she felt wandered through life and Shawn who did every extreme sport against his contract because he felt that it made him closer to his deceased mother.

I found this book to be a very enjoyable read from the very first page! The characters were well detailed and the storyline was well written which kept me totally engrossed until the turn of the very last page!

Sage and Shawn meet across a crowded bar and when Sage doesn’t respond in the manner Shawn is accustomed to, he follows her to a dark hallway. After a hot and steamy session he’s once more struck dumb when she refuses to share numbers with him and then takes off like the bats of hell are after her.

Sage’s past left her needing to protect herself against any kind of instability and Shawn’s apparent need for an adrenaline rush is the type of thing she will not tolerate. But the chemistry between these two will not stay dormant and they end up in a flaming hot relationship that soon blossoms into more.

I loved how Shawn was determined to be with Sage. His background left him with a hole that needed filling and my heart hurt for him. Sage was strong and independent but so weary of having to clean up all the messes her mother left behind in her wake. I wanted her to have a Shawn in her life that she could lean on to help carry the load. Interestingly enough, the story didn’t quite go in that direction and I was left wondering if anything regarding her mother was ever going to change. However, the relationship between her and Shawn was still heartwarming and engaging.

This is a very fast paced read with some wonderful characters that I would love to read more about. The steam between the hero and heroine was so intense at moments that I’m sure I drooled a bit, if not a lot. There isn’t a lot of drama here but there were issues that each character had to work out both individually and as a couple. I enjoyed this story from the beginning to the end even though I wish there had been more in the middle.

Sage and Shawn were a perfect fit in every way. Sage's mom irritated the heck out of me, and I really sympathized with Sage's struggle to keep her business afloat. Shawn was persistent, and flirty and just thing thing to coax her out of her stress bubble.

Hot & Heavy is a steamy, short read, perfect for a binge read at the beach! It’s part of Tracy Wolff’s Lightening series, but reads as a true standalone.

I’m not a fan of drunken bangs in the back rooms of bars as a couple’s meet-cute, so I had to suck it up and get past Sage and Shawn’s initial encounter before I could let myself enjoy the story. Because of course he is the athlete who Sage’s best friend sends her way for therapeutic yoga just a few days later!

These two are complete opposites: Shawn is an adrenaline junkie and Sage needs her life in perfect order. Their childhood demons have made them the way they are, but what happens when their opposite outlooks on life cause too big of a divide? Sage loves Shawn enough to let him go and not watch him willingly put himself in harm’s way, but is he willing to take the biggest risk of all when it comes to letting someone into his heart?

This book has tons of sexy moments, but is also very sweet at times. Definitely a summer-worthy beach read! I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily left a review.

Hot & Heavy is entertaining and witty with some chuckle-worthy moments. The story is interesting and definitely steamy. Shawn and Sage each have their own issues - he's an adrenaline junkie and she's determined to have stability and doesn't like taking risks. It's obvious where the angst in our romance is going to come from. Both characters are likable and it's easy to root for them, except I never really felt the love between them. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts, and their first encounter is nothing short of scorching hot, but it takes more than falling all over each other to fall in love and I just never got that with this pair. In the end, the story is a fun read and the angst level isn't crazy high, but I felt like it was missing that emotional connection.

This was a fantastic book. I thought Shawn and Sage worked so well together. Just what the other needed to give each balance. For Shawn being and NFL wide receiver wasn't enough he was also an adrenaline junkie. An addiction he fed with extreme sports. When an injury threatens to derail his career he finds himself at Sage's yoga studio door for help. Sage, after growing up with a loving but flighty mother, simply wants stability in her life. Running a yoga studio isn't her dream but it seems she's still taking care of her mother. She enjoys the therapeutic yoga aspect of the job and therefore she's certain she can help Shawn. Nothing else can develop between them. He definitely does not bring stability to her life. Can she calm him and can he get her to live a little? Grab a copy of this one and find out. You'll be happy you did. I definitely recommend it.

You know when a book starts off with the two main characters getting their freak on in a bar outside the bathroom that the main focus is going to be sex. So I wasn’t surprised by the amount of sex in this book. What I was surprised was how involved I got with the characters. I was thinking that this book was going to be heavy on the sex and light on the plot. Instead, I got surprised. The plot was as good as the sex.

I loved Sage. She has to be one of my favorite fictional characters to date. She had a childhood that left her craving for stability. So, what does she do? Becomes an accountant. Nothing more stable than that. She kept people at arm’s length, not willing to let anyone in. The only person she let in was Emerson. That was until she met Shaun. I felt that meeting Shaun was good for her. He made her go outside her comfort zone. He made her reevaluate what was important in her life. I loved watching her interact with Shaun. She didn’t know how to act with him. He threw her off-center. Loved it!!!

I thought Shaun was an idiot for most of the book. He did high risk, daredevil antics that put him in danger. He didn’t care. Then he hurt his shoulder and met Sage. But even then, he didn’t slow down. I mean, after Sage did a deep muscle massage plus taught him some yoga moves, he went flipping mountain climbing and REINJURED his shoulder. I did a facepalm when he did that. He acted like a child. Did what he want, when he wanted and forget everyone else. It wasn’t until he scared Sage and his friends free diving that he kind of woke up. I say kind of because I didn’t get the feeling that he was going to stop. Tone down, yes. Stop, no.

I wish that there the romance was built up between Shaun and Sage. While I appreciate, like any red-blooded woman, hot sex in a book, I do like a romance first at times. Sage and Shaun could have benefited from a romantic build up instead of banging the heck out of each other. I felt that any romance that could have happened was overshadowed by the sex. I did yell at my book and say “Take her out to dinner, Shaun. Not to your bed” a couple of times…lol.

Speaking of sex, holy moly was it hot. This author loves having her characters do the dirty in public places. Hunter and Emerson (from Book 1) had a famous BJ while Emerson was showing him a house. Shaun and Sage, sex in a bar outside a bathroom. Yes!! Plus pool sex (which isn’t my thing, personally) was made fantastic and somewhat doable. Shaun and Sage also had insane sexual chemistry. INSANE!!! A look could get either of them going. Or in Shaun’s case, a touch when doing yoga…haha.

I need to talk about what I didn’t like about both characters (besides the obvious). Sage’s mother was a piece of freaking work. Who, in their right mind, would take money out of a business and use it to pay a guru in India? And what got me was that she didn’t care. When Sage opened up to her about how her upbringing affected her, the first thing her mother said was “I make no apologies for how I lived my life” (or something along that line). I was like “Seriously lady, your daughter has ISSUES because of that”. I loved that the author didn’t try to change Sage’s mother and didn’t make excuses for her.

What I didn’t like about Shaun was that he was feeling guilt over his mother and sister’s death. Yes, he was in a rush but he was also a child. Guess what, kids make parents rush. I wanted to hug him when he told Sage that. He also revealed why he did extreme sports. Which was also heartbreaking.

The end of the book was what I expected. Total HEA. I read it with a huge grin on my face. I couldn’t wipe it away. Loved it!!

What I liked about Hot & Heavy:

A) Sage. Loved her

B) The plot of the book

C) The sex

What I disliked about Hot & Heavy:

A) Shaun. He acted like a child for most of the book

B) Almost no romance. Wish there was more

C) Sage’s mother. Couldn’t stand her

I would give Hot & Heavy an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is language. There is mild violence. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread Hot & Heavy. I would also recommend to family and friends.

I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group, Loveswept, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Hot & Heavy.

I recently reviewed the book Hot & Heavy by Tracy Wolff. I rated this a four out of five stars.
Here it goes...this is the third book in three weeks that started with a wedding or a bachelorette party. I cringed a little as this book opened up with it.
A bored yoga instructor, Sage, goes from being totally uninterested in anything about being in a bar surrounded by penis hats, but putting up with it as she owns the studio where the bride-to-be works so she is counting her minutes to gracefully leave.
She attracts the attention of Shawn, an injured football player who sends over a round of drinks, which are old-fashioned. Sage gets up and runs off - thinking he is making fun of her for being a prude. He follows her into the hallways and all types of messy fun ensue.
From the first sex scene to the last, Ms. Wolff does a great job of setting up the relationship between Sage and Shawn. It's hot enough to make you blush, not enough to make you change your undergarments, so it is great for the subway rides to and from work.
There is a little bit of unbelievable piece when it comes to a financial situation which comes up and though it affects Sage tremendously, it is handled by Shawn without looking back, which is why it rated a four instead of a five. It has the requisite HEA and the relationship between the two is believable and enjoyable as you watch the romance work itself out between family, friends, and football.
This book was given to me by NetGalley for an honest opinion.

The title, Hot & Heavy, was absolutely appropriate for this book! Wow! Sage and Shawn had some amazing chemistry and an off the charts romance!

Sage and Shawn meet immediately in the book as Sage is at a Bachelorette party for one of her coworkers. Sage is reluctant to be there, but soon finds some eye candy in Shawn. Shawn, is a professional football player, who has no trouble catching the eye of any woman - except he can't seem to get Sage to engage with him. After a brief misunderstanding, the two soon engage in a hot encounter, that leaves Sage running out in a panic while refusing to give out her number or take Shawn's. Needless to say, both are very confused by the nights turn of events.

We find out Sage isn't a risk taker, and her behavior at the bar was completely out of character for her, but she can't seem to get Shawn out of her mind - no matter how much she knows she should. Sage is a uptight accountant/yoga instructor who is helping to run her mother's yoga studio while she's in India working with a guru. We soon find out that Sage has pretty much been the responsible adult in this mother/daughter relationship since she was very young - and it is reiterated when her mother cleans out the business' accounts and leaving only 17 cents for Sage to pay bills and employees. Sage has never been able to depend on her mother, which is why she craves stability and control in every aspect of her life. That's why her encounter with Shawn left her feeling reckless.

Shawn, who is an adrenaline junkie, recently injured his shoulder during a vacation and faces possible suspension from his NFL team, if they find out. He's already been in trouble and fined several times before for breaking this rule. Shawn, who lost both his mother and sister, at a very young age - lives life recklessly because it's the only time he feels close to his mother, who was also a bit of a risk taker. He feels responsible for the death of his family and by living life to the extremes, he gets a bit of a reprieve. After a teammates' significant other suggests he try yoga to fix the issue before his coach finds out. Which leads him right back to Sage....

The two try to navigate their feelings, but can it work with one who lives life so recklessly and the other who craves stability? I'll avoid more spoilers. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast, sexy read!

I loved Shawn and Sage!! They were an amazing couple to read about.

My heart broke for Shawn. Here is this guy who to outsiders looks like he just likes to do stupid stuff when really the demons that he has within him have brought him to this point. I liked that when he found someone that became more important than that adrenaline rush, he was willing to re-look at his reckless behavior.

I really liked the character of Sage, I think I see a little of myself in her. I loved that she thrives mostly in a controlled environments but is willing to let herself go once and awhile. I loved that after her heartfelt conversation with her mother, she was willing to see herself differently and didn't hold back anymore.

There are many parts of this book I liked but my favorite has to be the first time these two meet. The chemistry leapt from the pages.

Sage is trying her best to keep her mother’s yoga studio up and running without it going under. Her degree is in accounting, even thou she does take on special students with injuries one on one at the studio. Her mother is off on another adventure to India and left her with no notice, again. For once she would like normalcy in her life. Her upbringing was not normal. Moving from relative to relative, to a friend of her mothers to another. Always moving, never staying in any place for long. Her mother always got bored if she stayed in any one place for too long.
Attending a bachelorette party for one of the teachers at the studio, Sage is dying to leave the party when she spots the most gorgeous man sitting at the bar. He ends up buying a round of drinks for all the women, hoping that one in particular will approach him. Shawn Wilson is used to women coming on to him, however, this one woman is totally ignoring him. Following her on her way to the restroom, Shawn approaches her. What starts out just two people talking ends up with sex in the back hallway. What just happened! Shawn knows her first name but nothing else, and to make matters worse she just ran out of the bar! Sage is mortified, she’s never done anything like that in her life and will probably never will again.
When Sage’s best friend sends her a client with a shoulder injury, the last person she expected to walk in to her studio is Shawn. No matter how hard she tries to pass him to another of the teachers, Shawn starts offering her ridiculous amount of cash so she will be his personal teacher. And she does need the cash to keep the studio afloat.
Shawn wants Sage and he will do everything to win her.

Oh my goodness Sage and Shawn!!! This book had to be as hot or hotter than the first book. I couldn’t stop reading once I started. I don’t think you need to read Down & Dirty to enjoy this one. But you definitely want to pick it up!
