Thank you to NetGalley.com for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

It’s a gut-wrencher – but you can’t say you weren’t warned – its in the title! When you first begin reading you think its going to go a particular way but then there is a sharp left turn that throws it into the romanze genre and then over into suspense. It’s a little jumbled, but a very quick read.

What I loved: The images of heaven, the guardian angel, everything was so beaufiully written – so very realistic that it took my breath away.

What I didn’t love: The entire suspense portion of the book (the last quarter or so) is so obvious that I stop liking Jen – stop being so naïve and stupid. Okay – just wander through my house – I’ll stay here in the kitchen.

What I learned: Google the crap out of people.
Overall Grade: B-

I love it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! I was enchanted from the beginning and just wanted to keep reading more. I knew that we weren't being told something and I couldn't wait to find out what it was! The writing style was great, it was easy to get to know and connect with the characters and it was a gripping storyline. I loved the ending too - brilliant!

When Jen’s three-year old daughter is involved in a horrific car accident, Jen knows who to blame. Jen’s emotions are still very raw from her husband, and father of Gracie, leaving them to go make a new life with Ella and Ella had been driving the car when the accident happened. Little Gracie had to be resuscitated and isn’t quite the little girl that she was before the accident. What she tells her mummy sets Jen on a one track mission to expose Ella and the secrets she is hiding.
Now I have to be honest here, Jen was not a character that I really liked. Yep I know she was hurting but whoa she was one massive tight ball of jealous, frustrating rage that all of a sudden found a loop-hole to excuse herself for exposing Ella’s hidden past. Oh wow, this is such a powerful story of emotions, feelings, letting go and really being thankful for what you have.
The story is mainly told through Jen so as I got the facts of what had happened in an unbiased way but then saw how Jen’s mind interpreted them. Oh boy did I cringe at times. There is the sort of super natural element to the story too, whether you believe this sort of thing or not it is necessary. It is all so very clever with additional elements being slipped in all the way through and becomes far deeper than you could imagine. Then shocked me over and over as the story worked its way to the end, something that I was half guessing so didn’t want to get there.
This is a beautifully written book that many people will be able to connect with on so many levels. Some people just get stuck in the past. While others find ways to move on but never forget. A very sad story and extremely emotive.
I wish to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an e-copy of this book which I reviewed honestly.

This was a great book! I couldn't put it down!

Jen's life is torn apart when she gets the phone call every parent dreads. Her three-year old daughter was involved in a car accident and is now in a coma. She drives to the hospital to check on her and is greeted by her ex husband, who tells her about the tragic accident. When Jen finds out that Richard wasn't driving, but rather Ella, the girl who broke up their marriage, she is furious.

The writer pulled me in immediately with the story. Watching Jen cope through this tragedy is sad, especially since she seems so alone. She has very few friends and virtually no family to rely on. When she is befriended by a doctor from the hospital who goes out of the way to watch over her, she finds her self head over heals in love.

It kept me guessing the whole time!

This was a beautifully written book about love and the comfort love can bring to us all even in the most dreadful of circumstances. About how love is eternal and never dies. I loved that part of its message but the story underlying the book didn't quite sit well with me.

That's said, I think other readers will love it and can see why it has such glowing reviews. Still 4* though because the writing was wonderful.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy.

I was sucked in the second I started reading this book. I loved the spiritual side to the story and fell in love with Gracie. Such a smart and sweet soul for only 3. I pretty much guessed from early on who Matt really was- but it didn't ruin the story or make it any less suspenseful. I am only giving it 4 stars because the ending broke my heart. What a love Jennifer had for her daughter.

Gracie's Secret by Jill Childs starts when Jen gets a phone call from her estranged husband to say that their daughter, Gracie, has been in an accident. Gracie nearly dies after being in a car accident whilst her dads new girlfriend, Ella, is driving the car. Looking for someone to blame Jen does all she can to prove that Ella wasn’t concentrating on the road whilst driving. A very emotional read and you will need a Tissue or should I say A box of tissues. A great easy read and great for your holidays.
Looking forward reading more books by Jill Childs.

This is a gripping and emotional read where everyone is hiding something.

The story is told from both Jennifer’s and Ellie’s point of view which helps make the book a lot more compelling. My opinion on whose ‘side’ I was on changed constantly. My favourite character was actually Ellie who I felt was quite misunderstood, especially by Jennifer. As her story unfolds and we discover more about her history my like of her grew as I really felt for all she had been through. That’s not to say I didn’t feel for Jennifer. Having your child in such a critical situation in hospital must be absolutely horrendous. The pain and anguish she obviously felt was heartbreaking to read about and was almost tangible at times. I can’t imagine how I would feel in such a situation. However she came across as too perfect, or definitely thought herself to be, and everything was everyone else’s fault but hers which made it difficult to warm to her.

The mystery part of the book was very intriguing and definitely kept me on my toes. I honestly wasn’t sure what was going on at times. I found Gracie’s memories/ recollections had a slightly eerie feel to them I felt. I couldn’t understand why Jennifer was so ready to dismiss them and felt Gracie’s frustration as she tried to get her mum to believe her. At times I just wanted to reach in and give the little girl a huge hug.

The author very cleverly lulled me into a sense of false security with some of the characters. She was very good at setting the scene and making the reader believe one thing when the opposite was true. The twist at the end was brilliant and completely took me by surprise, I always love when that happens in a book.

This, amazingly, is Jill Child’s debut novel and I very much look to reading more from her in the future.

Thanks to Kim Nash and Bookouture for my copy of this book and for inviting me onto the blog tour.

I absolutely loved this book! It is so different from reading my usual thrillers but so enjoyable that I couldn’t put it down.
Jen’s daughter Gracie has been involved in a car accident and ‘dies’ at the scene but is resuscitated. Jen is estranged from Gracie’s father but he was looking after her at the time of the accident. Jen is then devasted to learn that the driver of the car was Ella, her husband’s girlfriend. As Gracie recovers she is haunted by her out of death experience and remembers that Ella was arguing with someone on her mobile phone at the time of the accident. Jen then sets about trying to find out the truth. This is a very emotional book about a mother’s love and I was captivated, enthralled and moved to tears by it. A great story with lots of surprises and a totally unexpected ending! What a debut novel, can’t wait for her next one. Highly recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I thank Netgalley and Bookouture for this partnership. I was immediately attracted to the blanket and we see Gracie in the arms of her mother Jen.

Everything rocks for Jen when her daughter Gracie is involved in a car accident. She was declared dead but miraculously she is doing. Especially that the woman who was driving happens to be the new girlfriend of her ex-husband. Jen does not trust him especially because Gracie tells about what was said in the car before the accident.

A moving story, so captivating the author to a fluid writing, with endearing characters. I recommend this book, look forward to reading other books by Jill Childs.

I found this book extremely hard to put down. It was compelling, emotional, and very well written. I have never read any other novels by this author (I'm not sure she's even written prior books), but I do plan on adding her to my must-read list. I will surely have an easy time recommending this book to a wide audience.

Gripping, heart breaking, thrilling, and a heck of a roller coaster ride. Brace yourself, as you will go through many emotions while reading this novel. It was very well written and I often found myself unable to put the book down as I was wanting to know what would unfold in the story next. This was my first book I have read by Jill Childs and I am interesting in reading more of her novels.

In the story we read about Jen and her daughter Gracie. At the beginning of the book, Jen gets a call from her ex-husband who proceeds to tell her that Gracie has been in a terrible car accident and is in a coma. Once Jen arrives at the hospital she finds out that her daughter Gracie was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and was miraculously resuscitated.

The story continues with Gracie’s recovery, and she begins telling her mother Jen things about what she has seen and heard, strange stories that are hard for Jen to believe. Is Gracie telling the truth with these stories? Did she dream and think they were real and actually happened? Jen is unsure what to believe. And to make things worse, Jen is furious when she learns that her ex-husband’s new girlfriend Emma was the one driving the car when the accident happened. Jen was never fond of Emma and this makes her dislike Emma even more. Gracie tells Jen things she heard in the car that day, before the accident, and Jen has a lot of questions.

There are a lot of surprises and twists and turns in the book that will have you gasping! Many secrets are revealed and shockers that will thrill you throughout, with a great twist at the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
