'Babyteeth, Vol 2: Razed' by Donny Cates with art by Garry Brown continues the saga of the teenage girl who has given birth to the antichrist.

Sadie, Heather and baby satan are on the run. They've got weird company and an demonic raccoon just showed up on the wing of their plane. They end up in a dilapidated castle in Maine that hides more than it seems. Things don't settle down though as extremists out to stop the baby somehow know where the super secret hideout is.

It's an over the top story, and the first volume wasn't bad, but this one just kind of lost me. Maybe the premise is wearing on me. Also the art is pretty vague and the coloring is just murky and bad.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Aftershock Comics, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Didn't care for this one at all. It seemed a weak imitation of Rosemary's Baby. It is most definitely a "bridge" volume: meaning it is not complete and doesn't really work as a stand-alone work.

I didn't read Vol. 1 so maybe therein lies the problem(?). Regardless, I can't recommend this one.

Mark my words, this is the horror comic of the year. If you aren't reading this, you should be. Just when you think you know exactly where the story is headed, Cates zigs in another direction. I love the story mechanism of these first two volumes, with Sadie leaving her son a video of what happened while he was still a baby. Cates has given voice to such a well-rounded likable character in Sadie.
Have I mentioned Sadie's son is the Antichrist? I can't wait to read what happens next.

I really enjoyed the first installment of Babyteeth, however I honestly couldn't bring myself to finish this second volume. It was slow moving, and I simply lost interest. I'll wait to hear more about the third installment before I retry this volume. Even though the story itself lost my interest, I thoroughly enjoyed the artwork.

I have received a much appreciated digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

More Antichrist antics, and it turns out that while his mother has been very lucky in her sister and dad, not all of her family is so cool. Grandparents sure they know best are the worst, and how much more so when they have an entire cult at their back? Worse - this isn't even a proper Satanic cult, but a bunch of mind-the-language prigs who see the Devil's work as part of the other bugger's plan.

Plus: more demon raccoon. Love that little guy.

Babyteeth Vol 2 begins with a nice summary of Vol 1. While that is nice for readers beginning here, it spoils the surprises in Vol 1 so I would recommend reading them in order. Also, if you want to read Vol 1 first, please don’t read the rest of this review since it contains SPOILERS for that volume.

I loved Vol 1 of this series. As I stated in my 5 star review of Vol 1 (dianereviewsbooks.com/babyteeth), I couldn’t wait for volume 2 and grabbed it off NetGalley as soon as it appeared.

This story begins immediately after the first with Heather, Sadie and baby Clark travelling on a commercial airplane flown by the girls’ dad. The group is accompanied by the wizard Dancy and headed for the Maine castle built for Clark by the dark cultish group, the Way. In the meantime, the quasi-governmental group, the Silhouette, is trying once again to kill them. Both groups believe that Clark is the antichrist, born to usher in the end times. For the Way that is good news but for the Silhouette it is not. Are both groups insane? Well, little Clark does only drink blood and when he cries people bleed and sometimes disappear.

While still a good horror story, this volume doesn’t have the big ‘Clark is who?’ surprise element of Vol 1. There are a few smaller twists in the plot to keep it interesting. An adorable “fire-breathing murder raccoon” and Sadie’s backstory are intriguing. The relative of a past adversary also appears.

Babyteeth Vol 2 collects issues #6-10. Single issues continue to be published so I can’t wait for Vol 3. 4 stars!

Thanks to the publisher, Aftershock Comics, and NetGalley for an advanced copy.

I was really excited to see where the second volume of this series went, but was disappointed to find that it spends an awful lot of time unfolding a plot point that was pretty easily guessed at in the first volume. I'm hoping that the pace picks up again with the next installment, because I really liked all the characters that had been introduced and would like to see how the story progresses.

I loved the first volume of BABYTEETH so I was really looking forward to this, but I found it slow going at first and the artwork really unappealing (so dark at times I couldn’t actually see what was meant to be happening). I also found the move away from having the protagonist really be at the centre of the story, doing things and making decisions, a little disappointing. This might be why I didn’t enjoy this volume as much as the first. However, things clarified and picked up, and I ended up enjoying this. I’m (somewhat cautiously) looking forward to volume 3.

As a whole I've really been digging this series. It doesn't conform to a lot of the tropes for antichrist stories, like you see in things like The Omen. This is a good continuation and had some very enjoyable twists and turns that also built on the world that started to be established in the previous volume. The art also fits the story well.

The modern Rosemary's Baby drama – young girl gives birth to blood-sucking son of Lucifer – carries on here, but goes downhill fast. There was realism in the first book, here we get a subterranean world even the narrator equates to The Truman Show. What's more, or less in fact, is that when we get action to add to our intrigue and nefariousness, the fight scenes are amongst the ugliest and worst ever published. Such is the shortfall in quality I doubt I'd turn up for part three, and I never expected to say that.

In this installment of Babyteeth, we follow Sadie and her family as Dancy leads them to what he promises is a safe place, but something is very, very wrong when they arrive.

This one definitely felt less horror and more action than the first volume, and a lot of the panels were hard to follow, just due to really simplistic panels that made it difficult to differentiate between characters. That said, I still loved the progression of their journey, as well as how tangible Sadie's love for her sweet little anti-Christ baby is. I'm super here for unconditional mommy love, even when demonic spawn are involved.

Thank you to Aftershock Comics for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I like how story continues. That demon raccon thing is weirdly amazing. I really looking forward to the volume 3.

Just as dark and gripping as the first volume. Definitely a graphic novel to look forward to. I'll recommend this one to patrons!

As with the first volume, I am really enjoying the characters here. The main family is really great and I love how sarcastic Sadie and Heather are in particular. There is a lot of action in this volume and a lot of twists and turns that I was definitely not expecting. Unfortunately I think some of the plot points were a little bit too out there for me because I often found it hard to suspend my disbelief. It does help that many of the characters seem to realize how ridiculous all of this is, but I still found myself thinking 'really?' several times throughout. Still, it's a pretty fun series and I am interested to see where it's going, although I'm sure it's just going to get weirder before it calms down [if it ever does at all lol].

Read as single issues.

Whelp, that went non-stop. A lot goes down in this second volume, and there are a lot of surprising twists. Being a teenage mother is hard enough. Discovering that you’ve given birth to a blood drinking, apocalyptic, possible anti-Christ is worse. Discovering who is at the centre of the group of people offering sanctuary is? Ruh roh.
The Coyote and his story is gorgeous. After losing his daughter after she was killed trying to kill the Chosen Child, you’d expect drama. But wOw 😲

I’m really looking forward to the next arc

Just awesome. This story gets better and better. Moves along quickly, but that makes the story more enjoyable.

The first volume laid great ground work for a epic mythos. Sadly this volume did not make great use of it. The story was hollow, lackluster and moved at a unbelievable pace.
