I must have been drunk when I downloaded A Snowbound Scandal by Jessica Lemmon back in 2018. I have no other explanation as to why I would have downloaded a book featuring "a Texas politician and oil tycoon" hero other than I must have been blindingly, black-out drunk. Seriously, we should all be concerned for my liver.
Chase Ferguson is one of the youngest mayor's in Dallas' history and loaded thanks to his family's oil money. However, the man has regrets - namely Miriam Andrix. Mimi is an environmentalist but that didn't stop the two from having a passionate summer fling. Um, Chase might not have told her that he was fabulously wealthy thanks to oil money and of course by the time she finds out - they've caught feelings. Before you think this might be some sort of conflict for our heroine - rest assured, it's not. No, Mimi is in lurve and ideals be damned. Anyway, what splits these two apart is more the fact that they're from "different worlds." Chase ultimately sends her away because his family has ambitions for him and he "knows" being the wife of a politician with Big Oil money will slowly kill her. He puts her on a plane back to Montana.

That was ten years ago and Chase, now mayor, is up for reelection. His opponent has dug up his past with Mimi, including a lovely photo of her taken three years ago at a protest rally against Big Oil. He's scheduled to go to his fabulous vacation home (OK, mansion) over Thanksgiving to unwind, which just so happens to be located outside of her hometown of Big Fork, Montana. The least he can do is warn her that a potential media storm is headed her way.

They run into each other, in of all places, the grocery store. Words are exchanges, sparks fly, and of course while enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with her family Mimi just can't let it go that Chase is all alone in his big, giant, fabulous mansion. So she hops in her truck to take him leftovers and pie and because she's a romance heroine, keeps going up to his isolated place even after the snow starts falling fast and furious. Because, of course. Bingo bango, she's now snowed in at his place.

It's a testament to the author's abilities that my left eye didn't twitch uncontrollably while reading this. It is competently written, the pages turn easily, and it features textbook Desire steaminess and angst. This is book two in a trilogy about the Ferguson siblings so between Chase's siblings and Mimi's family, the secondary character field is crowded, but not overly confusing or unnecessary.

What didn't work for me is mainly a romance heroine who doesn't so much as waffle about being in a relationship with Big Money Oil Man Chase when she's supposedly so passionate about her environmentalist ideals. Like there's not even a blip there. In fact it's Chase who broke things off ten years ago to "protect" her. Then there's Chase - reader, let me tell you I damn near guffawed when he said he wanted to be mayor because he knew he could do some good and since he was already rich that made him less likely to be corrupt and take bribes.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

I damn near broke a hip falling out of bed after reading that.

Given my intense dislike for politician characters in my fiction reading, I'm still confused as to why I downloaded this book back in 2018, but it wasn't a complete waste of my time. It's a fast, steamy read and Lemmon hits her beats in the snappy, quick Desire line. I'd read another book by Lemmon, meaning that ultimately, this was a success.

But seriously, Wendy? Why did you download this one?

Final Grade = C

Perfectly cozy romance fit for a perfectly snowy day...

Thoughts: This one takes a bit to get into thanks to a lack of communication and vulnerability between the main characters. But once they open up, the chemistry heats up, too. Chase and Miriam are likeable characters and go well together on the page, and the plot is interesting -- even if Miriam's reasoning for visiting Chase at his lakeside vacation home in the throes of a snowstorm is weak, at best. Despite not much moving the plot along, the story carries pretty quickly and I found this to be a fast, enjoyable read that includes all the feels without actually making you feel all the feels (and I mean that in a good way). It's the perfect read for the romance lover looking to enjoy a lazy snow day. Note: It's not the first in the series, but can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

This is a fun and short read. In this wonderful book, two former lovers reunite during a blizzard. Will their heat make it through the blizzard of publicity that follows?

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

It was a perfectly fine forced proximity romance that was also a second chance at love.

When they were in their twenties, they had an intense summer romance, and then reality hit them in their face, and their differences in what they want in life were apparent. Texas billionaire and now Mayor of Dallas Chase Ferguson returns to a Montana to get away from Dallas and his life, to a house he bought to remember a particular summer ten years ago, he runs into those memories. Mimi Andrix still lives in the area and runs into her old and most important relationship at Whole Foods (the whole contemporary was fine, but the paragraph on WF took me out of the story). While eating Thanksgiving meal, Mimi decided to take some leftovers to the alone man in a mansion on top of the hill, a snowstorm is starting, and she barely makes it the mansion alive. Mimi and Chase forced (but really by choice) to spend the storm together. Memories, feelings, and desire come out, but can they stay for what their lives are like after a snowstorm and in real life?

Overall, decent. I just had a hard time believing the main characters that they care about each other besides sex this at this moment in their lives. Most of the book felt like they were using each other for one last hurrah, and then suddenly, there is a marriage proposal at the end.

I received an ARC from Netgalley and Harlequin for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy of this book. I received this A while back and started reading but could not get into the story line. The characters are reunited after 10 years and stranded in a mansion during a blizzard. They revisit their sexual past but part without resolving their issues. I did not like the characters nickname of Mimi and Chase's unwillingness to give up anything to move their relationship forward. Of course there is a reunion at the end. What I would like to do is read the next book as that looks very interesting. It is a quick read and should be read for a fast romance.

I always enjoy reading Jessica Lemmon. She never disappoints me, always amuses me and her male characters are always hot and easy to fall in love with. A Snowbound Scandal was no different. I am so happy that I got the chance to read and review this wonderful holiday romance by a fun and fantastic author.

Chase and Miriam were just wonderful together. A summer full of fun and love ruined them for any kind of a relationship with others from the opposite sex. But, they had no choice but to stay away from each her. Chase cuts Mimi lose because he doesn’t want to ruin her outlook on life, to put her into the spotlight and make her a part of the circus that his life and family is. It also didn’t help that his mother didn’t approve of her either. But, Mimi loved him and would have given up all that she knew and loved to be with him. Pushed away, she has nothing else to do but go on. And, she did. But, not without a lot of regret.

An unexpected meeting … a holiday that has Mimi feeling sorry for Chase … a freak snowstorm. All the ingredients for a perfect scandal … if the press found out about the Mayor.

I loved how Jessica Lemmon played all the conflicting feelings out in this story. Chase’s regret, Mimi’s hesitation. It made for just enough drama to keep you interested and invested in seeing where the story was going to go and who was going to give in first. Well, it kept me riveted to my chair waiting to see what was going to happen. And, the ending … yep, an HEA that truly had me smiling and cheering. Mimi may have started off angry and hurt but ended everything with pure class and style.

Kudos Jessica Lemmon for bringing us an interesting start to the holiday season.

Another great fast paced romance/suspenseful read. A lot of action packed into a story. The characters were a little stale though.

I just couldn't get into this book whatsoever. It was a bit of a slough to read but I did manage to complete it. Not my cup of tea.

Copy kindly received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have liked every other Jessica Lemmon book I have read so far and this was looking to be another good one, but I just couldn't bring myself to keep reading because I don't agree with the beliefs on one of the main characters. And that's totally fine, I'm sure many people will agree, and many people won't. We're all different. Just not something I wanted to keep going with, because I know I will find myself frustrated. A few other things niggled at me as well, so I just decided to put it down and move on instead.

A Snowstorm, fate , and rekindling of romance and love with Chase and Miriam.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Cute story about second chances and reclaiming love. At times I wanted to smack some sense into both main characters, but they managed to find their happy ending.

I adore Jessica Lemmon and I love second chance romances, so honestly, this seemed like a no brainer for me. I fell into this story and didn't want to leave. I read it in one sitting, which isn't uncommon for books from this Author, and finished with a smile on my face. This snowed in romance definitely worked for me and I'd recommend it.

A SNOWBOUND SCANDAL - Jessica Lemmon

SECOND-CHANCE ROMANCE - 3 stars

#2 in the Dallas Billionaires Club

Plot - 4 stars - These characters, of course, really want to be together, but their minds are working against them. But when a big old blizzard is involved in keeping two lovers together, we can predict what will happen.

Writing - 3 stars - I'm a Lemmon fan, but I didn't particularly feel that this was her best work. The writing was OK, but it felt pretty contrived, and I didn't really connect with the characters.

Characters - 3 stars - There's just something about these characters that didn't ring true for me. Although there was a lot of talk about how they couldn't resist each other, neither of them seemed to have any problem staying away for the past 10 years. Now, within a day, they suddenly can't keep out of bed together. I wouldn't think that their physical attraction could be that compelling, but maybe I'm wrong. Chase is the typical tall dark & sexy hero with a job in the public eye. He's been successful with women, of course, but he hasn't been able to forget about Miriam. And he seems a little one-dimensional. She, for her part, has grown up a lot and isn't the naïve girl she was when they were first together, but she seems a little too self-righteous to be particularly appealing. These characters just didn't click except on the surface.

Title - 4 stars - Pretty self-explanatory, and it definitely sets the tone for a good romance.

Cover - 4 stars - Nice, if somewhat typical cover for this genre. But it's an attractive couple, the fireplace in the background is warm and inviting, and the cover is eye-catching.

Overview - 3 stars - Nothing wrong with this second-chance-at-love romance, but it just didn't feel like it totally clicked. The characters didn't feel developed enough to really make me want to root for their success. Although we hear about their history to some extent, it only covers their shared history, and then it was only about the ending. We don't really get a sense of the reasons they both acted (and reacted) as they did.

Did not really care for this book. I didn't feel anything between the 2 characters. It was just a blah book for me. Each one wanting to leave the other for stupid reasons and it just was ok.

This book has a twist on the snowed in couple. A couple who has a history and how the snowed in aspect helps them resolve the issues. Good characters and story line!!!

I love to curl up with a good Harlequin romance and this one did not disappoint it is one smoking hot read. It is the second book in the series but is the first one I have read. I really liked Chase and Miriam these two have a past they were together ten years before but he broke up with her thinking he was protecting her from his life thinking she could not handle it. Now they are trapped together in a blizzard and it is not long before their feelings for each other surface again. I just loved the chemistry between these two and I will be checking out the rest of the series

First I would like to thank Netgalley and Harlequin Desire for a copy of this book to review.

Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this type of book right now, but I was past due on my Netgalley reviews and needed to get this book finished. I just didn't really care for the characters, and I felt like Miriam should have had more self respect than to go to him after the way he treated her. I know this is not reality but I am losing my taste for female characters that appear weak and needy.

I was the lucky recipient of a signed copy from a giveaway hosted by Lemmon back in June! While the book itself was a bit damaged in the mail, I still was beyond thrilled to find a few kind words waiting for me inside as well as some Lemmon swag. Thanks again!

I wanted nothing more than to dive right in…but I decided to be patient (not my best quality) and wait for the end of November. Finally, the perfect evening arrived and I curled up with a hot cup of spiced tea, some soothing piano music, and the new Lemmon read in the Harlequin Desire series. The stranded together trope is one of my favorites and after reading the first book in The Dallas Billionaires Club (Lone Star Lovers), I was eagerly anticipating peeling back a few layers from the ever-proper Chase Ferguson. So mix a perfectly timed snow storm with a second-chance romance…and you’ve got me hooked.

I adored Chase’s protective side and how well he really understand that is was going to take more than just charm to get Miriam (a.k.a. Mimi to Chase) to open up to him again. Miriam was stubborn but kind…a combo that was entirely endearing and I was certainly proud of our heroine more than a few times during this read. A Snowbound Scandal was a quick, sweet, and sensual book that was perfect for a much needed relaxing evening at home before diving back into homework tomorrow. I absolutely cannot wait to read the third book in the series (A Christmas Proposal), which just so happens to release December 1st…just in time for Christmas!

Pop over to Amazon and snag these wonderful reads to enjoy this holiday season! You won’t regret it!

This was first book which I have reading by Jessica Lemmon. A Snowbound Scandal was the 2nd book of the Dallas Billionaire's Club-series where you can read what kind of life is when you are part of the high powered Ferguson family. This was to me quite normal story where were billionaire and the woman. And just like usual, the man is like an alpha male. Some times quite nice to read books like that, but sometimes I need a lot of more, I think. And politics was nice thing also, which made this a little different than many other books what are similars,

Main characters as Chase and Miriam were ok, but somehow I need more. Maybe this wasn't right time to read the book or maybe there was something, which made me thought things like that. But I loved the humor which was in there, but there was also some parts what I don't get.
