This is a book in the Harlequin Desire imprint and I would definitely recommend it for the coming winter months! This was the first book that I read by Jessica Lemmon and I jumped into this book, which I figured had some preceding books, but it was fine as a standalone book.

The book focused on Chase Ferguson, who is a Texas oil billionaire and mayor of Dallas, and Miriam (Mimi) Andrix, who lives in Montana and used to date Chase 10 years ago. Both of them seemed to move on, but neither one of them was in a marriage or long-term relationship. So, this is definitely a second chance story. Chase travelled to Montana to get away from the stress of his job for the Thanksgiving holiday. He just wanted a quiet place to relax and did not really anticipate running into Miriam. After they ran into each other, Miriam felt bad that he was alone for Thanksgiving and decided to bring him some dinner. The snowstorm hits….and they are stuck together in his house during a blizzard. The chemistry from 10 years ago is still there and one touch will set them off, so they try to avoid each other for as long as possible. Miriam is not out to get hurt again. Chase does not want to have her affected by any scandals that stem from paparazzi like “reporters” because of his political involvement. It’s romantic that he is looking out for her, but not all women will appreciate that approach ;)

Their life choices have them going in different directions and it does not seem like their differences will allow them to continue their relationship. Chase has a prominent role in his family and his city, but Miriam has built her own successful life in Montana. If I had to be stuck somewhere with a hot man, a mansion in Montana is a good spot to be. The rest of the characters added some depth to this story. The setting makes this a perfect book to reading during a winter snow storm, curled up on the couch, in front of a fire with a glass of wine.

Chase and Miriam (known as Mimi) had a fling ten years ago. They never forgot each other and after a random meeting in the grocery store in Montana when Chase is visiting his home there, the romance rekindles. On Thanksgiving day Mimi brings him homemade food from her family dinner and ends up stuck at his house when a blizzard hits. They dance around each other until finally having sex. The scandal in the title ends up being Chase's opponent in the mayoral race who tries to bring up dirt on he and Mimi's relationship. The story has an HEA after Mimi follows Chase back to Dallas and shows up at a press conference ti profess her love. This story was just okay. I wish there would have been a few flashbacks to their time together before or more to understand what they saw in each other. I didn't feel the spark between them.

Nikki’s review:

I've been anxiously waiting to get my greedy hands on Chase Ferguson's book! I absolutely loved him in the first book, and I couldn't wait to see him shaken up by a woman, and see what's under his serious exterior.

I have to be honest, I struggled a bit with Chase at the beginning of the book. Like I mentioned above, I really liked him in the previous book, but he was more aloof and a wee bit colder then I imagined. I knew there was a reason for this. I mean, Jessica Lemmon isn't capable of writing a crappy hero. I knew by the end of the book that Chase would be my new book boyfriend.

I love a good second chance at love story. And that's exactly what this book was. Miriam and Chase are stranded in a gorgeous house during a weekend long blizzard. They dance around the elephant in the room...their break up 10 years ago. But the chemistry is still simmering hot! How ever will they occupy themselves? They kept themselves busy...against a wall, on a chair, the floor in front of the fireplace, and I think they entertained themselves in a bed at some point! They certainly kept warm in the blustery weather!

As I suspected, Chase warmed up. Once I could "see" inside his head and heart, I knew why he held back a bit. And just like that, Chase and I were boyfriend and girlfriend ;)

As always, I walk away from a Jessica Lemmon book feeling wrung out and oh so happy! After only a few pages in I was excited about the next book... which doesn't come out until December! That's what Jessica does; Her writing keeps you totally intrigued and invested. I absolutely loved the "Knotting Hill" kinda scene at the end. I had a ridiculous smile on my face while reading it.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this series does not feel like the "typical" bodice ripper, old style Harlequin. It's steamy and decadent. Have I mentioned that Chase is my boyfriend now?

A Snowbound Scandal is a second chance, opposites attract romance with lots of heat even though its a snowy setting. Chase is political and knows that Mimi would hate the spotlight that comes with politics. So, he cuts her loose. God save us from men who think they know whats best for women....

As you can imagine, Chase regrets this. Also, as I'm sure you can imagine, Mimi isn't exactly willing to trust him easily again. My heart hurt for Mimi. She really was willing to accept his life and be by his side but he took that chance from her. Now its 10 years later and Mimi is a bit jaded from the experience (and rightfully so!) and she and Chase are snowed in together. Chase did grovel well though so that helped and he really did regret his decision (it took him 10 years to grow up and man up). But, honestly, I still struggled with Chase. Maybe I was holding a grudge longer than Mimi?! Maybe I was just so protective of Mimi I wasn't willing to risk Chase hurting her again? Who knows!

For fans of second chances, opposites attract, and stranded together romance, A Snowbound Scandal is a great read to get you ready for winter! Its pretty short, full of heart, and enjoyable throughout!

A Snowbound Scandal by Jessica Lemmon was a fun, snowy novel that would make a good winter read by the fire, with a warm cup of cocoa or something stronger!

Chase and Mimi were young lovers, broken apart by forces outside their control. Chase, from a family of billionaires, goes into politics and Mimi works with an animal shelter. They reconnect, sparks fly but as much as they want a relationship the forces that tore them apart before are still there. Can they fight to stay together this time?

Jessica Lemmon's writing style is fun, passionate and will keep you going until the last page! Definitely pick this one up to enjoy!

Lovely story! Chase and Miriam have a second chance in the middle of a Thanksgiving blizzard! Chase made a stupid mistake that he foolishly stuck by for too long! Miriam is in my opinion still TOO nice for him!! But it was a great second chance romance!

Young love can be the forever kind. Miriam and Chase fell in love when very young but life and family pull them apart. Fast forward 10 years....... A snowstorm brings them together and they get the chance to try again.. Chase is running for mayor so the press is lurking. A good fun romance.

I had a hard time with this one. I hated Chase thru most of the story and if I were Miriam aka Mimi, I wouldn't have bothered reconnecting with him, but since she one loved him, she hardly made him grovel at all. He and his family are in oil (yes, billionaires) and in politics because nobody knows more about the working man's problems than people who have never struggled in generations, if ever.. So yeah, I am a bit weary of the billionaire trope.
The romantic in me wanted to read about a couple given a second chance to give their relationship a shot while stranded together. Eventually, I liked Chase a little more, but glad it's Mimi and not me in that situation. Mimi was the one who gave her all in the past, but she was young and Chase made all her decisions for her. Geez, there I go nearly hating him again.
I received an ARC thru NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion

A Snowbound Scandal is a second chance at love story. It is from the Harlequin Desire line and it lives up to it's designation. Jessica Lemmon writes a fast, sexy, satisfactory romance. The hero and heroine are fully drawn, engaging characters that made me care about their happily ever after. I actually could have spent more time with the couple, but their romance is quite satisfactory.

The story is.....boring. I kept going in the hopes that the story would get better but now I'm almost halfway through and the story is still not picking up.

Trope alerts: forced proximity, snowstorms, second chances. Y'all - it's go them all and wow is it delightful. Lemmon is a great contemporary author and her ability to plot tightly and develop characters quickly shines in this one.

Before Chase Ferguson became the Mayor of Dallas, he was a young man having a summer fling with a young woman, Miriam Andrix. The real world started creeping into their relationship and, after going to Dallas with Chase, he ended up sending Miriam straight back to Montana.. Chase was, protecting Miriam
Ten year later, Chase back in Montana for the Thanksgiving holiday, taking some time off. He runs into Mimi and the sparks fly, and when she happens to get snowed in at his mansion for the weekend, they had to face what was between.

I live second-chance romances throwing in the "snowed-in" angle and that just makes Chase and Mimi's story even more delightful. I loved the consideration that Jessica Lemmon puts into what exactly it is Chase and Mimi each want out of life. etc) pulling them in different directions. Both of them are scared of being hurt again.. Is subtle yet plays a huge part in whether or not they will end up together.

The mansion seemed like this awesome wonderland. Truly the place you want to be if you have to be snowed in anywhere.
A Snowbound Scandal was a light, quick read, and I enjoyed this book as much as Jessica Lemmon's previous books. She does a good job of setting up youngest Ferguson sibling, Stefanie's,. Already I'm excited for it.

I really enjoyed this romantic story of two people so in love that time, careers and life can't keep them apart. Chase Ferguson thought he could bury his summer love affair with Mimi Andrix in the past, but ten years later her picture resurfaces as part of a smear campaign by his opponent in a mayoral race in Dallas, Texas. After taking a vacation to Mimi's hometown in Montana and by chance being snowed in with her for a weekend alone, he quickly realizes that while he wants to protect Mimi from the press, he also does not want to let her go again. You could feel the passion and love between the two main characters. The ending feels a bit like Maid in Manhattan, but it was well done. I also enjoyed the little mentions of Chase's sister that keep you wanting to read the next book, which will be her story.

Reunited ... and forced to straighten out the past! With the next book in the Dallas Billionaire's Club series, we get Chase's story. He's living the powerful life he was born to lead, but he's missing the person that brought a part of him to life that he's never experienced again. When circumstances bring him face to face with Mimi again, he can't let the opportunity pass him by! The story was fast paced and attention grabbing, with a couple I was rooting for from the beginning!

Dallas mayor Chase Ferguson has one regret in life, and that's pushing the woman that he loved away. He knew she wasn't cut out for the political life that he was heading into, so he sacrificed their love to set her free.

Miriam Andrix has never forgiven Chase for the ruthless way she perceived him dumping her without a second thought. Now she's suddenly standing stranded in a snowstorm with nowhere to go but into his house. It doesn't take long for the passion between them to flare again, but with the history they share, will they ever be able to make a relationship work again?

A Snowbound Scandal – Jessica Lemmon

I was fortunate to receive this novel from Netgalley.com as an Advance Reader Copy, in exchange for an objective review.

Not a typical read for me, bit occasionally, I need the break from the tedium of mystery stories, and police procedurals, to sneak in a quick romance or two.

Chase Ferguson is the Mayor of Dallas and has a promising political career spread before him. The son of a wealthy oil family, the sky is the limit for Chase. An honest politician, he’s earned the love and support of the Texas people, and his opponents must dig deep to find anything to use against him. Then one morning a picture of ‘Mimi’ crosses his desk.

Mimi Andrix is an activist with an agricultural sciences degree and works for the Montana Conservation Society. Her work often has her protesting the very thing Chase’s family stands for – oil. Years ago, while on a break from school, she had a summer fling with Chase, and while he sent her home in the end, she’s never forgotten him or their romantic summer together in Montana.

Chase decides to take a quick vacation up to the lake house he owns in Bigfork, Montana for the Thanksgiving Holiday, and has a chance meeting with Mimi at the grocery store. The conversation is awkward, and he shares his card with Mimi, before leaving for his lake home, planning on spending the holiday alone. Mimi, with her heart of gold, cannot stand the thought of Chase not having a proper dinner, so she heads to Chase’s home with plates of food, and barely makes it because of an unexpected snowstorm.

Stranded with Chase because of the unrelenting snow, they rekindle the romance of that summer so long ago – and Mimi realizes she’s never stopped loving Chase. But when the snowstorm is over, will Chase leave her behind once again??

A sweet story, with a predictable ending, but every now and then, I need a story where the girl gets her guy! An enjoyable read, and I look forward to the next installment of the series, when Chase’s sister Stephanie meets her match!

Sometimes you need a quick read & this book fits the bill! I read it in a day. Perfect romance book to read on vacation. Chase & Miriam are portrayed very realistically & you hope it ends well. I will be watching for the next book by Jessica Lemmon!
