This is a second chance romance, but with not a lot of romance. I really tried to like this story but there was no chemistry between the characters. It drags on and I lost interest.

I haven't read a Harlequin Desire in a while and had forgotten how much I enjoyed them. I thought this was a nice, easy to read Second Chance romance with likeable characters.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.

Oh how I love a second chance romance. This one hit the spot.
Ten years ago, Chase and Mimi met one summer in Montana and fell in love! But when they return to his home in Dallas, he realizes Mimi is to good for his world of politics he will most certainly be getting involved in. So he ends it an sends her home. She is devastated.
Mimi is a staunch environmentalist. When a picture of Mimi at a protest rally years ago cross Mayor Chase's desk, he knows it could be used against him, but strangely enough his first though is to protect Mimi. He never really got over her.
When Chase vacations at Thanksgiving in Montana, he runs into Mimi at a store and it is sad to see how much they care for each other and don't do anything about it. Chase still feels what he did in the past is still the best for Mimi.
When Mimi finds out he is spending Thanksgiving alone she invites him to her family dinner, which he turns says no thank you too. At dinner she just can't stand that he is alone and being stubborn about it, so she decides to confront him about it. So she packs up some leftovers and heads out in a snowstorm to give him some pie and piece of her mind. Well of course you guessed it, they get stranded for the weekend.
How this story ends is so wonderful and I'm glad it wasn't a quick easy ending. But i do love a happy ending

I honestly think this is one of the more difficult books I’ve tried to review. I’m just all over the place with this story. There were things I loved and things I liked and things I didn’t like so much. Good news, there were no things I hated. But this wasn’t a smooth read for me.
Chase and Mimi are fantastic characters and actually have great chemistry. The concept of them being snowed in together, and the way in which it happened, is great. Since we get both of their viewpoints, from the beginning I didn’t blame either character for what happened between them in the past. The sexual tension they have when first trapped together is riveting and I couldn’t wait to read what would happen next.
Then what happened next happened and the story started to drag for me. I guess when there wasn’t really any conflict and seemingly no end to their curtain situation the story just stalled out. Once the snow stopped and the plows got out to start doing their thing, the story picked back up again.
I absolutely flew through the last 20% or so of this story. It was engaging and wonderfully written. It also gave me all the feels. Just goosebump inducing, heart-swelling greatness. So you see, really hard for me to decide on a rating for this one.
I also want to mention that I love Chase’s little sister and his bodyguard/best friend and would love to read that story. I kept hoping to see more of them throughout this book. I also wonder what already happened in their pasts since (once again) I ended up reading a book that is not book 1 in its series. Although I don’t believe that hurt any in this story, I could tell the sister/best friend thing also ran through the first book.

texas politician and heir to an oil fortune, chase ferguson has one regret in life, and that is turning his back on the love he felt for environmental activist miriam andrix. they were opposites and lived in different states and there was no way things could work between them.
but in a snowbound scandal it's ten years later and the press is digging into his past as he runs for reelection, and then finds himself in the same town with mimi (it's where their love story began) and their paths cross at the grocery store. she wants to tell him off except she can't help feel the attraction between them. they're older and wiser and can perhaps enjoy the attraction—especially while stranded together in the middle of a blizzard—without all the attendant drama.
except life likes to throw curveballs just when you think everything is all figured out, and mimi and chase will need to sort out their feelings and their relationship status when all is said and done. i enjoyed their story, but have to say that the b-plot with chase's younger sister stephanie and his security guard emmett had me super intrigued. i will definitely be checking out the next book in the series as it's obviously going to be their story.

Chase and Mimi were young and in love, but Chase decided to spare Mimi a life in the spotlight, under a microscope and sent her back home on a plane to Montana. Fast forward ten years and Chase decides to get away from his political career and leave his job of mayor for the Thanksgiving holiday, off to Montana he flies leaving a potential mudslinging campaign locked away in his desk in Texas. What he doesn't expect is to come face to face with his old flame, the one who happened to be the subject of a photograph, one threatening his political career. Mimi wants nothing to do with Chase, he broke her heart but she couldn't let the opportunity of a chance meeting go to waste, that's how they ended snowbound together, can they mend the past, do they want too? Will a scandal rear it's ugly head?

Wonderfully sweet and intensely passionate!
Chase and Mimi had a memorable summer together ten years before, but he left her to protect her from the sleazier side of his chosen career - politics. Chase is the head of his family's oil business in Dallas, and Mimi is an outspoken crusader to protect the environment against oil companies.
With his mayoral reelection campaign kicking into high gear, it might not be the best time to return to that picturesque mansion in Montana where they shared so much of themselves. But of course he does, and reconnects with Mimi just in time for a blizzard to trap them there long enough to set their hearts on fire again.
These two are soulmates right from the start; the only problem is figuring out the logistics. I really enjoyed their romance. The forced proximity is a delightful trope, and it was executed beautifully here. Their HEA was an epic showstopper - exactly what you'd expect from someone in Chase's position. I loved how their more experienced and mature selves chose to face the conflicts head on, and work together to overcome every obstacle. So much love in this book; so much to love about it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book through NetGalley.

I absolutely love the fact that so many holiday romances are making their appearance early this year. This has been one of my favorites out of these.
Chase was such a hard ass in the pervious book in the series but he definitely grows on you in this story. We get to find out the mystery romance that has soured him against true love. Mimi is delightful and such a great foil to Chase. Isn't it ironic that he comes back to the one place where he's bound to run into his memories of her when he needs a break and retreat from his high octane life.
Mimi definitely is asking for trouble when she decides to leave her family weekend to descend on Chase and since she's got something to prove but she does remember to take his favorite dish along. This is a great second chance at love full of fun, laughter, and pathos.

A second chance at love set against the backdrop of a Montana snow storm. Chase Ferguson and Miriam Andrix shared an incredible experience but he left to protect her from a public life. He's the mayor of Dallas and she's an environmental activist. A snow storm strands them together in Montana and the passion reignites. Will this time have a different ending?

Wow, an awesome contemporary second chance romance. Chase and Miriam met and fell in love the years prior to meeting again. Chase is the mayor of Dallas Texas and Miriam's life has been in Montana. Unfortunately, someone found out about their past and present and is out to destroy them both. The author did a fantastic job of developing the characters so that you want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens. I received a complementary copy via Net Galley and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Lemmon.

This was a very enjoyable second chance story. Great writing and characters made this a memorable story for this trope. Chase and Mimi once had a hot and heavy relationship but Chase decided to walk away when it became clear life in the public eye wasn't for Mimi. Now they are both back in Montana and Mimi decides to go to Chase's house to confront him about the past once and for all. One little problem - a major blizzard as come through trapping them in his cabin. With no way out and nothing else to do they are forced to deal with the past as well as the sizzling chemistry that still crackles between them. Will they find a way to be together or will they end up walking away once and for all?
This is a well done book and definitely one I recommend.

"A Snowbound Scandal" turned out to be a disappointment for me, but let me start with things I liked about this book. I liked families of main characters. There were episodes that showed how they interacted and it was fun. Most of them seemed friendly and nice. I liked moments with Emmett and Chase’s sister. There is some promise for a nice love-story there.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t stand the main characters. Their ‘love' was completely unconvincing. I couldn’t believe in any emotion on their part. They had a holiday fling for a few months. Holiday romance can of course change into a real relationship, but in their case it didn’t because they broke up as soon as reality struck. Ok, scratch out that. It was the guy Chase who broke out with Miriam for some artificial reasons, that didn’t convince me for a second. Then, 10 years passed and they met again outside the door of a grocery store. Miriam missed him all these years in spite of how he treated her. He gave her a business card and of course she couldn’t resist calling and inviting him to a Thanksgiving dinner. He refused in a rude way like an arrogant jackass. Instead of delating his number from her phone and throwing away his business card, Miriam packed a Thanksgiving dinner and drove to his mansion in the middle of a snow storm risking her life. Then, they are stuck together for a few days.
Miriam had no backbone or common sense. The billionaire Chase was rude and had no seduction skills whatsoever. When I read their conversations I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes. I hoped for a warm, fuzzy romance and I found their story lacking. There was no sweetness or tenderness in their encounters. Some parts made me laugh out loud, they were so funny.
Overall, I was hoping for a more romantic and tender love story. What I got was too cheesy and at the same time devoid of warmth and true romance.
I received "A Snowbound Scandal" from the publisher via NetGalley. I would like to thank the author and the publisher for providing me with the advance reader copy of the book.

It's really unusual for me to DNF a book, especially a Harlequin. I normally can push my way through, but not this time. I'm the same person who literally reads dozens of romance novels per month, but I could not handle this one. The bones of a good story are here, but the chemistry between the two main characters is awful. The setting is awful. The second chance meet cute at Whole Foods was awful.
I like the premise. An environmentalist vs. a billionaire with inherited Big Oil money is a good start. But the book is really bad.

This was a very quick-to-read contemporary romance. It’s a second chance tale, with a cute HEA ending. I believe this is the second in the series, but it works as a standalone. I have never read anything by Jessica Lemmon before, and I followed everything in the storyline just fine.
That being said, while I don’t expect to be able to relate to the billionaire or super model looks aspects of characters in romance novels, I prefer to at least be able to relate to some of their decision making. Nothing in the first 80% of this book felt even plausible. I found myself doing a lot of eye-rolling and checking my Kindle to see how much further I had to go to be finished. If the story hadn’t been so short, I probably would have bailed. However, I will say that I did like the very end, realistic or not. To me, it saved the book, even if it was saccharine.
Overall, I would say this was a decent, but not exceptional romance novel. I might read another if I needed something short, didn’t have other options, and someone gave it to me, but I don’t think this is a series I will actively seek out.

You can't go back, you can only move forward. That's a mantra we all live by, in life and in love. Regrets. We all have them. A constant reminder of where we've been and where we're going. They help us become who we are. However, there are moments that become exceptions. What happens when your greatest regret becomes the link to your present happiness?
Jessica Lemmon takes a walk down memory lane with Chase and Miriam. They once had it all, until it all became too much. Can a chance encounter with the past guide them toward a future together? A Snowbound Scandal brings Christmas a few months early. The perfect gift all year round. A passionate tale of love lost and found.

Engaging, and romance at its best. Second chances do happen in this novel. Thank you Harlequin and NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Classic boy met girl years ago on his way to something greater story. They come back together and find that the love never really died, but they both have to decide what they want the future to be - together or miserable apart.

This is such a simply heartwarming story. I really love that the author did not have to complicate the plot to make it exciting. It hit all the high notes, young love, separation, second chance to get it right, and happily ever after. I adore the little I saw of Stephanie and Emmett and can’t wait for their story.

I do love a second chance romance trope. Chase and Miriam had an intense summer romance. That ended with Miriam heartbroken. Fast forward 10 years and both have moved on with their lives, but have never really forgotten each other. Chase has been busy being Mayor back in Texas. He heads to Montana to spend Thanksgiving at his Mansion. While in the local supermarket he bumps into his old flame Miriam. She is shocked to say the least, when they part he offers her his card and tells her to contact him if she ever needs anything. Miriam feels bad for him being all alone for Thanksgiving, so invites Chase to join her for a family meal. Chase declines and thinks he wont hear from her again.
Miriam just cant relax so drives to his place with all the makings of a Thanksgiving meal. She intends to give him the food then drive back to her place. As the town is in the middle of a blizzard.
Chase is so surprised to see her, especially in this bad weather.Forced to stay and ride out the bad weather with each other. Its only a matter of time till the chemistry explodes with these two.
I really enjoyed this story it kept me captivated till the ending. What can i say about that end but oh wow. Jessica Lemmon sure knows how to write captivating romance, with just the right amount of ingredients to make a 5 star read.

My Thoughts.....
This was a perfect sweet read as Miriam 'Mimi' Andrix and Chase Ferguson find their way into a second chance romance.
What had seemed for them 10 years ago [summer fling] wasn't to be but now Chase has come back in BigFork, Montana for a Thanksgiving holiday from his mayor duties in Dallas and who does he bumps into coming out of the whole food store? Well, it seems like fate will come for theses two as Mimi who was from BigFork ends up bringing Chase several slices of pumpkin pie which was his favorite [with dinner] and with a snow storm is coming up and one thing will lead to another... she ends up having to spend nights and days with Chase at his mansion. Why did Mimi feel the need to bring Chase Thanksgiving dinner? So, what will come of all of this situation as the reader will see that "from fireside chats to soaking in the indoor hot tub, eating some grilled cheese sandwiches [with no tomatoes for Mimi] and let's not forget the some hot steamy sex that seemed to rekindle their passion. However, will we see these two reconciling their past with the present in all that is going on especially with Chase since he was running for reelection?" When it seems like all is getting somewhat better for these two there will be a interruption that will bring everything to a stop. Will there diverse backgrounds still seem to be a problem for them as it was 10 years ago? How do these old problems still exist? This is where I say you will have to pick up "A Snowbound Scandal" to see how well this author presents this good story to her readers and all of the unanswered questions will be answered.
If you would like a story of a couple that were truly meant to be finally getting a second chance at love then this would be a definitely good read for you.
