For Matt and Julia love was their greatest gift but their worst obstacle. How can something that began so beautifully have ending in such a heartbreaking way? Manipulated by forces beyond their control and secrets too big to hide, things are about to explode. He's a ghost from her past.. She holds the key to his future. Both crave a second chance, but danger could be looming on the horizon. Forbidden Lovers is romance at it's most heartbreaking. A breathtaking beginning to a complicated series.

Awesome contemporary romance. This story is about a dysfunctional family that is wealthy but the Harper's haven't been together for over a decade. Included is suspense, intrigue and mental illness. Mr. Harper rules the island as well as the lives of residents. As kids Matt Harper met Julia and fell in love. As teens they planned their lives but Matt's dad forced Matt into the military destroying both Matt and Julia's hope for their future. The author shows us throughout the book how what was believed was misunderstood but they have to deal with it they can forgive. I received a complementary copy via Net Galley and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

This is a story about a man who is summoned home and reconnects with the life he left behind. Matt and Julia had been deeply in love, but due to outside influences and lies, the road back to each other, while filled with their mutual attraction and an undeniable chemistry, is difficult due to the pain of the lies which stand between them. This story had many other elements—the father and his motives, Julia's biological parents and their whereabouts, to the beautiful son they created. I was given a copy of this book and glad to have had a chance to read and review it. I want to read more books in this Plunder Cove series, so am looking forward to the next book.

Quick read of a new to me author. This is the first book in a series about Plunder Cove, run by RW Harper. Matt Harper was shipped off to the Air Force to keep him away from his sweetheart Julia Espinoza. 10 years later Matt comes home and reconnects with Julia. Lots of confusion in the story between characters from what happened in the past, I think a lot of it is setup for future books. I did enjoy the story and can't wait to see what happens next!

Intriguing easy read. Matt was a fun character that you could see yourself hanging out with. The big crazy Spanish family was on the nose. Henry was an audacious and adorable imp. You will enjoy sitting down and reading this fun filled book in just a few hours.

Forbidden Lovers by Kimberley Troutte has such an enticing beginning that it made this a captivating second chance read. Throw in a lot of misconceptions with some hot attraction within a smooth plot, you’ll have this “pirate” story.

Julia can’t believe the strange who reminds of a lost love. The stranger, Matt, doesn’t seem to understand why she doesn’t remember him. It is quite the mix up that has plenty of secrets, lies, drama, angst, endangered species with a surprise for Matt and Julia. I enjoyed this story of family, forgiveness, love and second chances for the Harpers. Reminds you that it is never too late to do right. The first of a series that could to be an entertaining way to escape the daily humdrum.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It's a quick read. Some of the dialogue is rushed. The dad is a bit overbearing. Julia and Matt rediscovery themselves with each other. Overall nice day read. Enjoy the read....

Forbidden Lovers centered around Julia and Matt. They were teenage lovers who were broken up by his meddling parents and when he went into the Air Force. I really did not enjoy the book due to the fact that each thing felt incredibly unbelievable. For example, I couldn’t believe that Matt’s parents were so evil and didn’t want them to be together that they would come up with a fake funeral to make the entire town think he was dead. But his family, including siblings, knew he was alive. Another example, Matt despised his dad, yet after an apology, he was seeing his father as a new man.

I think the book could use some editing and tightening up of the storyline and hope that’s considered for the remaining novels in the series.

2nd chance romance with a lot of surprises, past lies and still more secrets.
I found it intriguing, with a bit of heat, and a whole lot of characters.

Forbidden Lovers (Kindle) by Kimberly Troutte This is my first book by Kimberly Troutte ... it won't be my last. This is a second chance romance... I moved right into the book from the first and never left. Matt Harper ...troubled childhood..unloving parents.. Julia Espinoza.. from the wrong side of the tracks...young lovers... He's back after ten years ...so many misunderstandings.. angst feelings... laughs...tears... and steamy sex to get to a very HEA... and lets's not forget Henry, RW, Angel and the Aunts...can't wait for the next book in February 2019.

My first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Her writing style just pulled you into the story and I couldn't put it down. My favorite part was the proposal. But I couldn't believe the ending. I didn't realize it was ending on a cliffhanger, not my favorite way to end a book. I will have to make sure I watch for the next one in this series. Can't wait to find out what happens next.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review! Good quick summer read. People and stories seemed reel. Had a few spots that kind of dragged. All in all would recommend.

Plunder Cove - sounds like a bad soap opera, but the Harpers are descended from pirates who settled this town. Matt Harper has horrible parents and he was forced to leave his love, Julia, behind and leave ten years earlier. Now, he and his siblings have been called home and he is reunited with Julia and her son.

There’s a lot going on in this book and not enough pages to give this story true justice. I was very confused on who thought Matt was dead and who knew he was alive. Julia figures out he’s alive and the whole reaction between her and Matt was puzzling. Too much quick acceptance versus figuring out why it went wrong and what they’d been told. There is an underlying mystery and danger, but with so much going on there is a lack of focus on any one plot point in the book.

Overall, not a bad start to the series, but I think I’d rather read it when all the books are available.

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley.

“Forbidden Lovers” by Kimberley Troutte has a fantastic premise, unfortunately the author’s voice did not resonate with me and I was unable to finish the book. I was turned off by Julia’s cousins and, even Matt Harper himself, within the first chapters.

It has to be said, that not every reader will love every book and this is one of those books for me.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

Julia Espinoza found love as a teenager with Matt Harper, regardless of their very different backgrounds. He broke her heart when he left, forcing her to learn to live her life without him. When a stranger shows up in Plunder Cove who reminds her so much of Matt, she must struggle to put the past behind her, especially when secrets are all revealed.

This was another quick read. Loved the premise, and most of the book, however, I found some of the middle section of the book to be a bit confusing and vague. I assume that was to not reveal some of the bigger picture to save it for later in this book and/or future books in this miniseries, however, at times it made me feel like I was watching everything play out through slightly foggy glass. That's what kept it at a 4 star book for me. That being said, I will definitely keep my eyes open for the next in the miniseries!

This was a typical Harlequin book- going in to it no one should expect complete development of characters. It's quick and simple. Easy read and does what it set out to do- just be a good read that you can pick up and set down when needed. That being said, the conclusion seemed a bit rushed and the forgiveness factor a little too simple. But again, it fits the typical format of these books. Seems like it could be the first of several in a series to come with the other characters introduced.

The author takes the time to introduce us to Julia's family. From aunts to cousins and how they all stick together. Julia has needed these people seeing she ended up in a bad place. Thankfully she had her son, who keeps her grounded. Matt Harper has achieved everything that his parents wanted for him. The only thing missing is the woman that he gave his heart to. This homecoming is going to find out why everything happened and will there be an HEA.

This is a second chance reunion with yet another one that takes place 10 yrs after. I' m not a fan of such long separations but the story dragged for me at times and I struggled to finish.

I enjoyed the storyline and found the writing to be descriptive. The character development was clear and there was humor mixed in with the romance. However, it was quite fast for the forgiveness to come so easily after being gone for a decade.
