Linda Castillo is getting better and better with each book in the Kate Burkholder series. This book is an absolute page-turner - much, much more than her last one. I was mesmerized with this story. The layer, upon layer of this mystery, as Kate unraveled it was compelling and shocking and satisfying. I LOVE this series and I genuinely hope she continues with the story line. Bravo for this one!!!!

A Gathering of Secrets is a great addition to the Kate Bulkholder collection. Once again the author has done an outstanding job with her plot and characters. A very great mystery. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy a good mystery/suspense.

I love to get myself wrapped up in a Linda Costillo mystery and this one was a great one to get lost in. In the past, I've found her books almost too graphic but this one strikes the right note between murder and mystery as well as being fairly timely. I particularly enjoy the author's main characters, Kate and John, and in this book in particular I thought the Amish characters were very well developed. My own heritage involves the Amish religion, which originally drew me to these books, and I've long heard my relatives speaking Pennsylvania Dutch and loved to visit and hear the clip clop of horses hooves on the road as they pulled their buggies. I really enjoyed the young Amish characters and thought she did an excellent job of portraying the struggle between being Amish and wanting to try things in the English world. The mystery both was interesting and didn't end like I kept guessing it would, which is always a sign of a great book. Five stars for me, which I rarely give.

Another solid Chief Burkholder mystery. I enjoy these somewhat dark mysteries that involve the Amish community.

I really love the people in this Castillo series. They are human and Kate Burkholder is a good cop. That she was once Amish only makes her better.

I was thrilled to receive the latest Kate Burkholder mystery early. Just when a reader thinks how can Linda Castillo possibly top the last book in this series, she does. The former Amish turned police chief story line just keeps improving. This plot revolves around a terrible fire related death of a young member of the Amish community who wasn't all what he appeared to be. As Kate delves into the investigation, she runs into more puzzles and scrapes. Along with her supportive staff and Tomasetti, A Gathering of Secrets will make you wish the author wrote more than one of these installments per year.

In my opinion, this is the best Kate Burkholder book to date! I had trouble putting this one down and couldn't figure out who had committed a slew of crimes in Painters Mill until the end of the book. I hope there are more in the series in the future!

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A new novel by Linda Castillo is always a source of excitement for me. Ms. Castillo weaves such a riveting story of suspense and relationships. I feel I know her protagonist, Kate Burkholder, quite well, after reading many stories in this series. And Ms. Castillo's stories never fail to keep me up all night long turning the next page.
In A Gathering of Secrets, Kate is faced with the challenge of solving what turns out to be the homicide of a seemingly well liked, respected young Amish man who dies in a horrific barn fire. As she gets further and further into the case by questioning people in the community, she is faced with the fact that Daniel Gingerich was actually feared by many young women, and that he was not the paragon his parents made him out to be. Aspects of the case mirror a devastating attack on her that occurred before she left the Amish community as a teenager, and Kate starts taking this case extremely personally. She is comforted and encouraged by her fiancé, who is an investigator with the state crime bureau. As Kate starts to piece together some frightening conclusions, she ends up on the receiving end of attempts to prevent her from finding the truth and the culprits. To find out who is responsible for killing Daniel, and for helping to menace and keep silent other Amish teen girls, I recommend picking up a copy of or downloading A Gathering of Secrets. Along with a good cup of coffee so you can stay up all night to learn resolution of this!

A great mystery -- even greater if you've read the other 9 books in the Kate Burkholder series. I love how each story brings in the past and builds into something a little bigger.

Another great Kate Burkholder book from Linda Castillo! Great read, very well written, characters that make you feel you are right in the story. Chief Burkholder is right in the thick of it again. Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for allowing me to read this ARC book and give my own personal opinion.

LONG TIME FAN OF THIS AUTHOR - Even before the Kate Burkholder Series which is fantastic. Love the story line of Amish life and how a former member of it navigates her job as their Chief of Police. The only thing that would make the story better would be more TOMASETTI on the page. Can't believe this is the tenth book in this series!! I invite all who love murder mysteries and amazing characters set in a Rural community to sample Castillo's skill. "A copy of this book was provided by St. Martin's Press via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

Linda Castillo never disappoints. An Amish teen commits suicide. A few months later, another Amish teen is dead. Chief Kate Burkholder knows someone knows something, and no one is talking. This was a great read, full of twists and turns. I also love that one does not need to read the series in order to enjoy the books. This one kept me guessing and I was totally surprised at the end. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this page-turner!

Another fantastic hit by Linda Castillo! I have been with Kate Burkholder from book 1 and here I am having just finished book 10 and already eagerly waiting for the next in this fantastic series! This is one of the best police procedural series I have ever read and I would highly recommend to everyone!

There are so many great ones in this series but this may be one of my favorites. A barn fire and an 18 year old Amish boy's body discovered inside. As Kate digs, more and more secrets are revealed about this boy and those that knew him.

Twists and turns, suspense and overall fantastic writing! 5 stars! I cannot wait to see what you come up with next Linda Castillo! Please don't ever end this series! Love me some Kate Burkholder!

A huge thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book! Greatly appreciated!

A barn burns down, a young Amish man's body found within. Who had reason to cause the death of this young man, and why when from everyone Chief Kate Burkholder talks to all she hears is good things. Eventually this case will bring Kate to close to comfort to things in her own past. Can see remain neutal enough to see justice done?

Tenth in series and so far this series remains strong, and best of all Kates personal life actually changes, instead of remaining stagnant. This is one of the series that I will put anything else I am reading, down and just concentrate on this story. The inside glimpses and beliefs of the Amish community is insightful and interesting. Also enjoy the strong community and loyalty among Kate's officers. This case will take a few turns before coming to a satisfyingly though sad conclusion. Well written, and always a nice balance between crime and personal, thrilling without being horrible graphic. One of my top ten series.

ARC from Netgalley.

Linda Castillo did not disappoint again. I could not put this book down! I can't wait to see what she does next! This series is one I recommend to many!

Holy cow this book! Let me preface this review with that fact that although this is book number 10 in an established series, I have not read a single one of the previous novels. That fact however, did not keep me from devouring this one in a single day! I could not put it down! Every time I thought to put the book down, the author threw in a curve ball that I not only did not expect, but that kept me reading just so I could see how it played into what had happened.

The plot was well-developed with complex and interesting characters (even without knowing Kate's backstory she was a character I not only liked, but was invested in). The story moves at a reasonable pace, giving just enough hints, and unexpected surprises to keep the reader guessing right up until the unbelievably satisfying conclusion. And that ending!! WOW!! I did not see THAT one coming!

I would highly recommend this novel to those who enjoy well written "who-dun-it" novels that are absolutely better than they appear to be.

This is this tenth book in the Kate Burkholder series. It begins with a fire on the farm of an Amish family. When firefighters investigate they determine that the cause of the fire was arson and that there was someone inside the barn at the time. Kate has to investigate the death as a homicide. When she starts to delve into the life of the victim she discovers that he had a dark secret, one that would have given several people motive for murder. The case also brings back painful memories of her childhood. Another powerful story by Linda Castillo. I can’t wait for the next one.

Another spectacular read from this author. As always a lot of exciting mystery and suspense. I did not particularly like the ending, but that is just my personal bias. I am already looking forward to her next book.

Just when I think Linda Castillo can't top her last book, she does. This is a fast paced Amish murder mystery that grabs the reader from the beginning. Kate Burkholder at her finest tries to track down who killed a seemingly wonderful Amish man. Along the way there are many twists and turns that will have readers guessing to the end. Highly recommended!

Linda Castillo is the best when it comes to writing Amish genre mysteries and she knocks this one out of the ballpark. I believe it’s her best one yet with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. Don’t get me started on the ending.

Definitely add this one to your must read list!
