Having read a couple of books by this author before and thoroughly enjoying them, it was one of the reasons why I wanted to read her latest book. The other reason being that the cover was highly appealing.

However, I have to be honest and say that unfortunately this wasn't a great read for me, I struggled with the story on quite a few occasions and found the story slow to begin with. Plus I literally could not gel with the main character of Lorna, I disliked her and found her highly annoying.

Having read other reader's reviews of this book, I am glad to see that there are a lot of readers that did indeed enjoy this book, which to me, means it is true what they say, certain books just aren't for everyone.

Some good points about this book though, it was well written, the characters were well developed, once over the half way point, the book becomes very fast paced and addictive reading, there were plenty of surprises, twists and turns come the final chapters that I literally didn't see coming.

Tell Me a Secret had some crazy twists and turns. Some I was not expecting which is a great quality to have in a psychological thriller. The character of Lorna was very hard to like and not get annoyed with but I think that was all part of the book. She had a very warped sense of reality and was an all around mess. I really don't think you were suppose to like her. I wish we knew a few more details about Lorna's mom and dad situation. It is referenced so much in the book and you kind of know what happened but I would have liked a little more detail about what was going on. I also would have like to have a little more of a story with Jack. After reading the description of the book I thought some events would happen a lot sooner than they did so I found parts to drag on a bit. Thank you netgalley for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I was excited to receive a copy of Samantha Hayes most recent book from Netgalley as I was a huge fan of hers since I read her last book......I wasn’t disappointed!
It was filled with twists and turns and I didn’t see any of them coming. Right up until the end, I thought I had it figured out.....but I didn’t!
I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

This was the second book we read by Samantha Hayes. We loved "The Reunion" and couldn't wait to be a part of the blog tour for "Tell Me A Secret". Before we say anymore, we would like the readers of our blog who know and trust in our book recommendations to PUT THIS BOOK ON YOUR TBR PILE IMMEDIATELY!
Ok now that we've gotten that out of the way, we can move on to our proper review! First impression... HOLY MOLY! Hooked from page one is an understatement. The opening scene will play like a nightmare in your brain; one you can't wake up from and can't stop thinking about.
Moving right along, Hayes introduces the starring characters that will leave you with a conflicting love/hate feeling. We definitely loved to hate Lorna! Obsessed bitch who doesn't appreciate what she has orrrrrr, victim?? Hmmmm 💭 Nikki... mysterious.. what is her connection to this crazy bunch? Should we feel bad for Mark? For Andrew? What's up with Lorna's parents... strrrannngeeee! Who is getting played here? The general feeling: WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE!! But, we mean this in the best way possible.
Readers of psychological thrillers know that when a book can keep you guessing until the very end, its most likely a great read! The plot twists were as twisty as they come! We constantly felt like we were on a roller coaster ride and surprises awaited at every turn!
Samantha Hayes... BRAVO to you. We LOVE your writing and are officially fans forever!

First of all I want to think NetGalley, Samantha Hayes and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book before it hits shelves later this week. I wont lie, I wasn't really felling the book until about 65%, I didn't like Lorna at all. I didn't like some of the things that she was doing, especially when she had Mark at home, but he's a whole other story for later. Once I got past 65% I had to keep reading to know what was going on. I needed answers and I was confused on what part Nikki was playing at, I am so glad that I kept reading, it was a good ending and I liked it more than I thought I would!

I had a really hard time getting into this story, it felt super slow; without anything that really sparked my fire, so to say. After about 70% of the book it was there: I couldn’t stop reading at all. Overall it was a really decent read, a bit too psychological for my taste, but it was good!

when Lorna unethically returns the call of a new client requesting an appointment with her for a therapy session life takes a downward spiral.

lorna is married to mark, a rather controlling and unlikeable character and stepmum to his son, jack. mark’s first wife died and lorna feels she’s never lived up her memory.

the story weaves its way through lies, affairs and murder keeping the reader turning the page. i felt the story lost its way halfway through and failed to see the relevance of a practical joke played on Lorna by Jack however, the ending has a good twist and brings the story to a good end.

many thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I struggled with this book. None of the characters were likeable. I assume we are supposed to like Lorna, the wife and main character. But it is difficult to do that when the book starts off with her behaving erratic and cheating on her husband, again. But even the husband wasn’t sympathetic. I gave the book 2 stars, instead of 1, because I like the basic concept but I wish the story had been written differently. Maybe introduce Lauren and establish her as a more likeable, stable person first so that it does seem extreme when she cheats on her husband? I wish I had felt bad for what the characters were going through but it felt like they all caused their own trouble. But, for people that like the train wrecks of reality tv shows, this might be perfect for them!

Not for me. I persevered to 45 % of this but I really was not enjoying it. I didn’t like the characters and kept thinking “I don’t care what happens to these people”. I wanted to slap the main character and tell her to get a grip and count her blessings. I can see from the reviews I’m in a minority here but I guess the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things

Lorna is a seemingly happily married woman who has it all. A loving husband, a step son Jack and a daughter Freya. She also works as a therapist. Got to admit listening to peoples issues all day must take it's toll but then Lorna is full of secrets herself.

Loved this book from beginning to end. There were twists and turn throughout. Leaving you on your toes the whole time. I wasn't able to put this one down. Samantha Hayes out did herself on this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great book.

Tell Me A Secret by Samantha Hayes.. where do I start. This book has it all and then more... literally could not stop reading it.

Lorna is a therapist and from the outside she seems to have it all.. a husband, a family and a career. But Lorna has a big secret that could destroy all of that. She tries to leave it in the past but her past is back and she has to do what she she can to protect her world from crashing down.

There is a lot going on in this book but all of it sucked me in. And the ending knocked me for 6... wow, did not see that coming at all and I loved it! Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy in exchange for my honest opinions

Lorna has a secret, one so huge that, if discovered, will ruin her marriage and family Even more is at stake – that of her career. She is a therapist and her secret is that she had an affair with one of her patients, Andrew. Although she ended things nearly a year ago, she knows that her life will be destroyed if she were to be ever found out. In order to function, she has tightly constructed her daily life. She is also suffering extreme angst due to the death of her father when she was a child.

Everything spins out of control when Andrew contacts her again, determined to pick up where they left off. Almost unable to help herself, Lorna begins taking risks, putting all she holds dear in jeopardy. But then, Andrew is found dead and her world is truly turned upside down.

Told from varying points of view, this book held my attention fairly well. While it was often painful to read how Lorna made one bad choice after another, there were enough twists and turns that were just enough to keep me riveted to the story. The ending was a complete shocker.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review.

Where do I start ? This is definitely a book full of twists and turns, just when you think you have it all worked out something else happens that blows your theories out the water. I don’t really want to say too much as it really is a book best read without knowing too much of the story, just dive straight in !!

Lorna, a therapist, has it all - a happy marriage, a loving daughter and stepson, a gorgeous house and a close knit bunch of friends. But is everything as it seems ? In her job Lorna listens to people’s secrets day in day out but is she telling anyone her own secrets ?

This really is a great read that will keep you hooked throughout. Twists and turns in all the right places that keep you on your toes !!

If you are looking for a tense psychological thriller then look no further this is definitely the book for you !!

I loved this book from the beginning to the end, a gripping psychological thriller, very difficult to put down with plenty of twists and turns.

I particularly liked the short chapters relating to the different people in the storyline and all the characters had something to hide.

Overall this book was brilliant and extremely well written, well worth five stars and WOW what a fantastic ending with a twist I never guessed.

Well done Samantha and I look forward to reading more of your books.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview Tell Me a Secret by Samantha Hayes. A physcologist has an affair with one of her patients knowing that it is wrong. She can't help herself but she ended the affair, but he walks into her life again, and it starts again.
Then something terrible happens and she has to find a way out of this nightmare - she has put herself in an uncompromising position and she can lose everything if she doesn't prove herself innocent.
Written in several voices, this book is written well, however, characters are not developed, shallow, and uninteresting - I just couldn't connect with the storyline. Just ok for me.

‘Tell Me A Secret’ by Samantha Hayes published by Bookouture on May 25th

Its maybe a cliche to say ‘I read this book in one day or one sitting’ but I really did!! The book immediately grabbed me and kept me with it all day, I seriously am 100% truthful when I say ‘I couldn’t put it down’.....
Samantha Hayes is a great author so I knew this book would be good but this imo is her best yet....a Therapist, Lorna, has an ideal life...but then a new client arrives for an appt....and its someone she shares a secret with....without giving anything away you are then whisked away into a story of lies, secrets, dating sites, secrets, intrigue and more secrets....but the biggest are kept to to the end and I defy you not to GASP at the three, at least WOAHHHH revelations....I read a lot of psychological thrillers and get used to the ‘surprises’ but didn’t see any of these coming
A wonderful read that will leave you shocked and then shocked!!!!
Thats it, simply a brilliant and exciting book that you need to read
10/10 5 stars

Lorna has a secret and it cant get out..... Someone knows it and Lorna must do everything she can to keep it from her family or loose everything in her life including her job.
Tell me a secret kept me hooked and has a fair few twists to keep the reader interested. I would recommend this book to others as well as her other books.

What is real anymore? Lorna has it all a loving husband, a daughter who is battling at school, a stepson that will never accept her as his mother and great job as a therapist but she has secrets that can get you killed. Lorna had an affair and she tried to put it all behind her but now he is back and he wants her still. What can she do to make sure that her husband Mark never finds out? She has too much to lose but she loves Andrew, her lover and she will do anything for him. But her world is starting to unravel and she doesn't know how to stop it from coming apart completely. Everyone has secrets that they hide and hers are coming back to haunt her and she will do whatever it takes to keep them hidden from her friends & family. But with so much going on around her who can she trust? Her ex lover who wants her back, her boss that is very concerned about her, her friends that are just trying to help and her husband that has his own secrets? Lorna will realize that only she can overcome her father's death and what has brought her to this moment in time. A real hard hiding read. We are usually our own worst enemy and we all do have secrets that we all try to keep hidden but Lorna's had awful effects on her family. I was lucky enough to receive a copy in exchange for my honest review via Netgalley & the publishing house.

Do you simply LIVE for a plot full of twists & turns so jarring that you are left thinking of them hours after finishing the book? Pick this book up NOW! I mean it – immediately. You won’t sleep until you’ve finished it, but trust me, it’s well worth the sacrifice.

Tell Me a Secret delivered on its "gripping psychological thriller" promise 100%, With that type of label being tossed around fairly liberally these days, I am always a bit skeptical as to whether I'm actually going to find a book "thrilling," let alone "gripping" - Hayes delivered in a big way.

This story is told by multiple narrators, mainly our quite unlikeable protagonist, Lorna (an aside – it’s so hard for me to care about unlikeable characters or what happens to them- Lorna was a hot mess but she was undeniably human, which is just solid writing & character development – Kudos to Hayes on this for sure!). Lorna has a seemingly perfect life, but what are the secrets that she keeps that cause her crippling anxiety and drive the need for her to stick to a stringent routine? Our secondary narrator is Nikki – let’s just say that things aren’t what they seem with Nikki. We also get to know Lorna’s husband Mark, her stepson, & daughter. She has a great group of friends who are likable characters, well developed for minor characters.

I urge you to read this book without knowing much about it – the twists were wonderfully unpredictable, and while I had an inkling as to how a couple would pan out, I was absolutely shocked at multiple points towards the end of the book!

I highly recommend this book to fans of twisty-turny thrillers that actually deliver on the THRILL aspect!
