I think I would have rated this book higher had I read the others in this series; I think not reading the first 3 books left me at a disadvantage in understanding all the main characters.

The plot was good: 4 best friends who write for a comedy sitcom come home to film the season finale at a local pub. 1 best friend is gay, while the other three are straight. Both guys have crushes on Fee but because each of them has always been with someone else they've never acted on it. But for once they're all single.

At times I found the group to be incredibly immature; as if they were 20 instead of each in their mid 20's. Fee was annoying at times, never seeming to know what she wanted. She was incapable of making her own decisions and relied on other's opinions to make her own. Given that she was supposedly so successful, this just didn't fit.

I would have liked to read more about the 4's friendship before they got to this point. I think it would have helped to understand the bond that the four of them truly had.

Overall not bad.

Loved it! This story was about 4 long time friends who wrote or starred in a sitcom that was very popular. Fiona had slept with one of them, but not for long and that was in college. Teddy was gay and Asher had always wanted Fiona. A menage was suggested witth Owen, Asher and Fiona but no one was really comfortable with it. I loved all the family around, especially pop pop. I have not read the story before this one so will be looking for it. I love Mari Carr books and look forward to more. I got this book from Net Galley for an honest review

Fiona Adams has returned to Baltimore to film the last episode of her sitcom in her family pub. She has to polish the script with her co-writers, Owen, Asher and Teddy her best friends since their meeting up at college. The problem is she loves them too much to consider choosing just one. Perhaps the theme of the finale party, “Anything Goes” will allow them to sort out everything? The thing I love about Mari’s writing is the depth of her characters along with the humour and great story telling. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I have conflicted feelings about this novel. On one hand, it was humorous, sweet, and well written. On the other, I was hoping for a menage, which I didn’t get. This is the fourth in the series and the first novel I have read from the author. Maybe I had a read earlier entries, I would have known what I was getting myself into. Unfortunately, I guess I wasn’t in the mood to look past the fact that this felt more like a novel about a girl screwing her best friends until she decides which one she wants to be in an actual relationship with. I get it, relationships can be hard and confusing especially when you have feelings for more than one person. But I want more diversity in my romance. People are allowed to love more than one person.

Had I known then what I know now, I wouldn’t have read the novel. The author is clearly talented and knows how to tell a story, it just wasn’t one I enjoyed.

What a unique love triangle romance! No matter what you think is going to happen, I guarantee you'll still be surprised! This book explores the relationships between Fiona, Owen, Asher, and even Teddy as they figure out just what they want from life.

The story goes well beyond the romantic entanglements, too. It's a wonderful slice-of-life story encompassing the Collins family and their family pub. Lots of unique characters, strong emotional family ties, surprise twists and hot-hot-hot love scenes! Excellent writing that draws the reader in right from the very beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed this amazing book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Fiona, Owen, Asher, and Teddy have been best friends since college. They know all get to work together on a sitcom, with Owen staring, and Fiona, Asher, and Teddy writing

At 25, they are deciding the party life might not be all they want now. Long and short-term relationships have all ended, and the four find themselves all single at the same time. For some, or all?, is it time to act? Deep feelings that have been hidden, do they let them come to the surface?

This doesn't quite end up as expected, but it ends so much better!

April Fools was okay. Having not read any of the previous novels in this series, I thought this would be a fun novel showing how three friends work out their feelings for each other. Unfortunately, this book wasn't as fun or romantic as I thought it would be. All of the relationships that occur just seem convenient and I didn't find any of them very convincing. All of a sudden, everyone is in love with each other and it's just because the author tells us, not because we experience anything that demonstrates their love for one another. In general, the whole book felt very rushed. Not only does the book take place over a few days, but it seems like we hop from one day to the next so quickly, that barely anything happens in between the days to make it seem really significant. The ending was also predictable and felt cheap. This was just not the book for me.

April Fools, by Mari Carr is a passionate contemporary romance story, and the fourth book in the Wilder Irish series.

Fiona Adams is temporarily back in Baltimore surrounded by family at their bar, as she prepares for filming at Pat's Pub. While growing up, she was often traveling with her famous parents, so she's determined to spend quality time with family.

Owen, Asher, and Teddy are Fiona's best friends, as well as her co-writers for a popular sitcom. Teddy is gay and not a date-able option for Fiona, yet Owen and Asher are two men she's interested in dating. Owen dated Fiona is college for a short time, until she meet her long-term on-again-off-again boyfriend, who is now permanently off. With Asher and Owen vying for Fiona's attention, she has to make a choice between them...or maybe choose both men.

There's a surprising twist to this entertaining story, and it's a pleasant departure from the heart-wrenching story featured in the previous book of this series. April Fools may be easily read as a standalone, yet it's preferable to initially read the preceding books of the Wilder Irish series. However, it's highly recommendable to start with the Wild Irish series, since their now grown-up children are featured in Wilder Irish!

April Fools is geared towards those who enjoy passionate contemporary romance books.

Well, let me say the book is aptly named – I definitely felt like I was caught up in an April fool’s joke! As a reader, you may feel like you know from reading the blurb how this story is going to go, but let me assure you that you don’t. It strays so far off the path (and in more ways than one!) that I just did not enjoy it at all. A lot of it felt rather pointless to be included, at least to me. I’m not going to go in a lot of detail, but there are a lot of surprises in this story for the reader – so be prepared for an unexpectedly wild ride. It just wasn’t for me.

I would probably have enjoyed this book more if I'd read the rest of the series (which is on me, not the author), but I was still drawn in by the characters, especially the heroine's large, protective, Irish family. There is a love triangle with stakes that feel real and dramatic, and a very sweet twist ending.

Title: April Fools

Series: Wilder Irish Book #4
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: Mari Carr

Genre: Romance

Blurb: They say two heads are better than one.

Fiona Adams has a man problem—she has too many in her life. And thanks to her unconventional family, she’s wondering if she even has to settle for just one. Owen is the sweet boy (turned sexy man) she dated in college; Asher is the hot hunk starring in too many current fantasies. Both, unfortunately, are her coworkers, part of the writing team for the hit sitcom Wild Winters. She’s lucky her dear friend and third writing partner, Teddy, is gay, or she’d really be in trouble.

Fiona’s resigned herself to having neither man…until the team decides to film the sitcom’s season finale in her family’s bar, Pat’s Pub. While in Baltimore, under the influence of her crazy family and a wild April Fools party in the Collins Dorm, Owen and Asher take matters into their own hands—literally.

Soon, between all the hot nights and real-life drama, the team can barely concentrate on work. It’s becoming a case of life imitating sitcom…even more so when Fiona’s most recent ex, Mr. Big Gesture himself, shows up to win her back—with his biggest gesture yet.

Thoughts: Well, let me say the book is aptly named – I definitely felt like I was caught up in an April fool’s joke! As a reader, you may feel like you know from reading the blurb how this story is going to go, but let me assure you that you don’t. The friendship portrayed between the three main characters is something I would have like to see in greater length. They had fun together early in the story, then that was it. After those early scenes, depth of character building was swapped for intimate scenes.

"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

One of the main pleasures in Mari Carr’s “Wild Irish,” and now “Wilder Irish,” series is the entire Collins family. Set in Baltimore and centered around the family business, “Pat’s Pub,” the Collinses are many, varied, and always a force with which to be reckoned.

This book is about Fiona, one of the second generation. She and her three best friends, all men, are the creators and writers of a prime-time sit-com. They have decided to set an episode of their show in the pub, so they are all in Baltimore. Naturally, the whole family is involved. Even if you have not read any of the other books, rest assured that this is no problem, although if you have read any of the others this book is like a homecoming.

I don’t like spoilers, so I am not going to give any. After the sadness of the previous book this one is much lighter and far more fun. The ending is just right, and everything works out for the best.

If you haven’t made the acquaintance of the Collins family yet, “April Fool’s” is a perfect book to start with. Be aware that there are some explicit sex scenes, so this is not suitable for youngsters. For the rest of us, however, it is just spiffy.

April Fools is a delightful read full of all the best parts of romance.
Fiona is hilarious and she made me laugh more times then I can count, I loved how charismatic she is!
Great read and the ending was prefect!

I have read and enjoyed Mari Carr's book before now. This one though, didn't work for me. I am not sure of it is because this is the first book I have read in this series or it is because I didn't read the other books yet. Just felt so lost.

Fiona, Asher, Owen, and Teddy have been friends since college. They wrote a script and it was made into a sitcom. They are going to Fiona’s hometown to film the season finale at her family’s pub. Asher and Owen both love Fiona, so Asher comes up with them having a threesome. Owen gets called away for an audition and encourages Asher and Fiona to sleep together. Fiona is all for it but wants only one of them and is afraid to mess up their friendship.
Funny. Steamy. Great characters. Made me a little teary eyed. Secrets and shockers.

April Fools was a sweet, fun, entertaining read with a few twists and turns thrown in. I loved it.

Another great Mari Carr book with a April Fools!

Fiona Adams and her fiends got really lucky after college by selling the television show that they created after college and ended up writing when they travel to Baltimore to film the season finale at the bar that her family owned.
Fiona is finally on a long term break from the ex-boyfriend and the guys single for the first time since college. Owen Winters and Asher McCarthy are both interested in dating Fiona when Asher suggests a ménage so Fiona doesn’t have to pick either one of them.

The reader needs to read the story and to find out the April Fools that Mari Carr has put in the book but the entire story is definitely worth reading and Fiona’s parent’s story is Ruby Tuesday (Wild Irish Book 2),

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

After the seriousness of March Wind, April Fools was a much needed, much lighter reprieve. That's not to say that this book didn't have its serious moments, as well as just as much emotion. There was just a much different feel to April Fools.

Book 4 of the Wilder Irish Series focuses on Fiona, the other daughter of Skye Mitchell and Teagan Collins (Ruby Tuesday). She is much different from her sister, Ailis (February Stars). She embraced the lifestyle of her parents. She is a much more open, take charge kind of girl. She plays hard and loves harder. She also lives on the west coast, as a script writer for a sit com, along with her best friends from college, Owen, Asher, and Teddy. While they are all visiting her family's bar in Baltimore for a filming of the show, things come out and feelings are revealed.

This book kept me guessing, and on the edge of my seat! I couldn't stop reading for anything, because I just couldn't wait to see what was coming next. And boy was I surprised! I never saw that ending coming! I'm not giving anything away, so you will just have to read it to find out, but this book is just the thing to pull me out of the sorrow lingering from March Wind. I loved all of the Collins, and I can't wait to see what happens to the rest of the grandkids!
