"Kiss of the Spindle" combines elements from Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" with adventure and romance. The main character, Isla Cooper, is strong, intelligent, and kind, the Captain is dashing, and the secondary characters are well-developed. The steampunk details, from characters' attire to airships to robot servants, add to the atmosphere. The novel is a delightful introduction to readers new to the genre. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, even more than "Beauty and the Clockwork Beast".

This book is a masterful retelling of Sleeping Beauty set in a steampunk world with were-creatures. Isla has been cursed with death like sleep from midnight to 6am. After one year, she will never wake. In order to get to island where the witch who enchanted her is, she blackmails Daniel. And here is my big problem with this book. I didn't like the romance. It happened too fast. Daniel was too alpha male for me. However, your millage may vary. Everything else was well done.

I find Nigel Crowe an interesting character. I hope that if there is another book in this series we'll follow him.

This book was fabulous. Nancy Campell Allen has really broken out of her norm in a spectacular way. I cannot wait to see what comes next.
